Christian brings in Kane to take on Regal and Jackson, but the result stays the same.
Welcome to the ECW on SyFy! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.
And we open with a hype video for tonight's main event as Christian teams with Kane to take on William Regal and Ezekiel Jackson.
After the opening pyro, we have William Regal in the ring, to introduce the next ECW Champion, Ezekiel Jackson. As Jackson makes his way to the ring, we get a highlight package of Christian getting drilled last week by the combination. They are all smiles as they remind Christian that he has five days before he faces Jackson. Jackson says the image of Christian laying will repeat at the Royal Rumble and Christian will hear the words of the new ECW Champion being announced. This brings out the champ, who thinks about going to the ring, but stops on the ramp. Christian notes that Zeke like biblical quotes, but so does he, because of his name. Christian then quotes the book of Ezekiel himself, with some slight personal touches. Jackson calls Christian a comedian and says he has never faced anyone like him. Christian agrees, but he has defended his title against many types of people and he has beaten all of them. Christian calls Jackson the biggest and strongest freak of nature in the ECW, but he looks forward to the match at the Royal Rumble. Christian says that he was laid out last week, but it was two on one and he has evened the score for this week. This brings out Kane and both men head to the ring as it looks like we might get our main event when we return from the commercial.
ECW Champion Christian and Kane vs. William Regal and Ezekiel Jackson
We return with the match in progress and Regal has Christian in a hammerlock. Christian escapes and hits a snapmare, but Regal slips away and tags in Jackson. Jackson wants Kane and Kane he gets as the tag is made. Both men run off the ropes and shoulder block, but neither man goes down. Kane gets a headlock and Jackson punches his way out and whips Kane, but the shoulder is ineffective. Jackson screams at Kane and Kane nails a few uppercuts. Jackson reverses an Irish whip, but misses a clothesline. Kane hits one of his own and arm wrenches Jackson. Christian tags in and hits a double axe handle to the arm. Christian slips away and punches Jackson, but he whip is blocked and Christian gets slammed. Christian avoids an elbow drop and tags in Kane. Kane gets backed up to the wrong corner and gets double teamed by Jackson and Regal. Regal now tags in and works on the leg of Kane. Kane powers Regal off, but Regal kicks the leg and tags in Jackson. Jackson stomps on the knee and backs Kane in the corner. Jackson whips Kane across and hits a huge splash in the corner before getting a two count. Jackson locks in a front face lock, but Kane gets up and punches out. Jackson sends Kane to the corner, but Kane avoids the charge and tags in Christian. Christian punches away, but gets thrown into the corner. Christian gets the boot up and hits a missile dropkick from the second rope for two. Jackson counters the Killswitch, but Christian hits the inverted DDT. Jackson gets sent to the floor and Regal joins him just in time for Christian to springboard off the turnbuckle onto both men! We head to another commercial.
We are back as Kane drills Jackson with a clothesline and gets a nearfall. Kane tags in Christian and Christian hits a axe handle to the back of Jackson. Christian gets powered to the floor by Jackson reversing a whip and Regal comes too close. Christian nails Regal and follows him, but he turns right into a bear splash by Big Zeke. Christian rolled in and Regal tagged in. Regal goes to the neck vice, but Christian gets up. Regal throws him to the corner and Christian goes up and over with a sunset flip for two. Regal gets the tag to Jackson and Jackson just slams Christian with ease. Jackson stands on the throat of Christian and brings him up to throw him in the corner. Regal tagged in and he rams the knee repeatedly into the head of Christian. Regal with a butterfly suplex for a two count. Jackson gets tagged in and he stomps away before getting a near fall. Christian brought to his knees and Jackson clubs away on the chest. Christian gets choked on the ropes before being locked in an underhook submission. Christian gets up and tries to gets a tag, but Jackson knocks down Kane and the double team ensues. Christian kicks out at two and a half and Regal gets tagged in. Regal hits a few European uppercuts and follows up with knees to the head. Christian lifted to the top turnbuckle, but Christian fights him off and hits the diving back elbow. Kane gets the hot tag and he lights up Regal in the corner. Regal whipped across and Kane hits a back body drop. Kane with a series of charging corner clotheslines and a huge side slam connects. Kane heads up top and hits the diving clothesline. Kane with the gozzle, but Jackson breaks it up. Kane with a huge boot to Jackson and Christian gets tagged in. Kane lifts up Christian to the top and launches him into Big Zeke. Kane and Zeke goes to the floor as Christian lines up Regal for the Killswitch. Regal slips out and hits an Exploder Suplex. Regal lines up for the knee trembler as Kane gets thrown into the ringpost. Regal misses the knee as Christian tries the Killswitch again. Big Zeke gets the tag and Regal gets planted. But Big Zeke comes in and drills Christian with the one armed slam for the three count.
Winners: William Regal and Ezekiel Jackson
Match Rating: *** This match did not feel slowed at all by Jackson or Kane and was really well done. From the first commercial to the end was twenty minutes. This is how you build a title match!
Back from the break and we have Royal Rumble hype, with all three titles being hyped, plus the Rumble itself. We then get the "Royal Rumble Numbers" promo video, which is always a fun video package.
We then head to Shelton Benjamin backstage. He talks about the Royal Rumble. He says that none of the numbers matter. All that matters is being the last man standing and fulfilling a dream. He then gets attacked from behind by Vance Archer and cryptically talks about reality.
As Zack Ryder comes out for the six man tag, we get video of Zack Ryder makes Savannah call him by his new nickname last week and being dumped by the Hurricane. We head to a break as they both stare at the ring announcer.
Zack Ryder, Trent Baretta, and Caylen Croft vs. The Hurricane, Goldust, and Yoshi Tatsu
We come back and the tag team of Baretta and Croft are already in the ring with Ryder. The bell rings and Croft starts with Goldust. Goldust backs up Croft and gets whipped off the ropes. Goldust stops short of a hop by Croft and almost botches tripping up Croft. Baretta and Ryder gets punches off the apron and Goldust back body drops Croft. Croft whips Goldust, but misses the splash in the corner. Hurricane gets a tag and he hits a leaping clothesline for a two count. Ryder gets tagged in and gets hip tossed quickly. Ryder bounces Hurricane off the ropes, but Hurricane grabs on. Ryder charges, but Hurricane low bridges Ryder and sends him to the floor. Tatsu and Goldust enter he ring to stop Hurricane from getting blindsided as we go to commercial.
Back from the break with Croft and Tatsu as the legal men. Yoshi blocks an arm drag and gets one of his own after flipping around. Goldust tagged in and he snapmares Croft before dropping an elbow. Croft sent shoulder first into the corner, but he dives away from Goldust and tags in Baretta. Baretta charges and gets taken down with a arm drag. Hurricane tagged in and he gets sent to the corner, but Hurricane goes up and over for a Hurricarana. Baretta goes to the corner and Hurricane lines up for the Shining Wizards, but he ducks to the ring apron. Hurricane hits a dropkick and then goes up and over with a splash. Hurricane rolls in Baretta, but Croft distracts him and Hurricane gets clipped. Ryder gets tagged in and he goes to the floor and throws in Hurricane. Croft gets the tag and goes to the headlock. Hurricane escapes, but is quickly grounded. Baretta tagged in and he goes back to the headlock. Hurricane is up again, but gets slammed down so Ryder can be tagged in. Ryder connects with a neckbreaker and gets a two count. Ryder now goes to the chinlock and Hurricane again fights up. Hurricane sent to the ropes and he gets a sunset flip for two. Hurricane gets clotheslined and Croft is tagged in for the nearfall. Croft drops the knee across the face and tags in Baretta. Baretta kicks away and tags in croft quickly. Croft stomps away also and gets a two count. Croft with a front face lock applied, but Hurricane punches out and croft goes after Goldust. Croft turns into a back body drop and Hurricane spins around into a Shining Wizards out of nowhere. Tatsu gets the hot tag and dropkicks Baretta. He takes down Ryder and back body drops Baretta. Yoshi with a series of kicks to back up Trent. Yoshi gets back dropped to the apron and he kicks Trent. Yoshi heads up top and hits a spinning heel kick for two as Ryder breaks it up. All six men in the ring and mayhem ensues. Croft and Baretta whip Goldust, but they ducks early. Goldust drops down and punches Croft and Baretta turns around into the buzz saw kick from Yoshi. Tatsu covers and gets three count to end the match.
Winners: Hurricane, Goldust and Tatsu
Match Rating: **1/2 Decent six man tag. Didn't feel as clustered as I thought it would.
For a minute there, I thought the opening tag was going the full hour.

Conventional thinking says Christian will now win Sunday, but never be too sure, as history showed us recently.

...that's actually a really cool idea, it cements Christian as a fighting champ, more than ready to move on & injects new life into ECW, who people have been dancing on the grave as of late. I'm not very familiar with Danielson, but from what I do know he's a great ring tech with a rabid Indy & IWC fan-base so I think that's a great idea.
But, somehow, someway, I have become a fan of Ryder, so maybe a triple threat at WM, then he moves on in the draft to being IC or US champ or contender, with Christian in the upper card of Smackdown or (& hopefully not) the upper mid card guy on Raw. Christian proves he's a great PPV guy if not main event (even though I truly thought he was headed towards great things in WWE before getting jobbed out, then he went to TNA) but to me he doesn't have the same steam he had before he left for TNA, the fans seem kinda disconnected from him, yet he still gets the pops (but they're less since his single WWE run pre-TNA) Ryder is a Miz-like performer with the in-ring skills, he's a great mid-card heel & the mid card is desperate for credible mid card heels on both brands. Rhodes, Dibiase, Ziggler, Knox & Carlito have a few fleeting moments but at the end of the day, they come of as jobber enhancement guys... build better villains in the mid-card to elevate the cats who deserve the upper card shot & there we go! Ryder would flourish there. Christian would get his upper-card push (hopefully better that heel-hardy turned face hardy) but the Danielson idea is a great one, ECW would be a new landscape, hopefully with a 'Regal family' constantly challenging him..

2 good long matches featuring decent wrestlers.
Was there more wrestling on a WWE hour long show than on TNA's 2 or 3 hour shows?

Any one notice the opening intro, all the legends are gone, with exception of Rock and Stone Cold.

My first choice is for Danielson to be a fan that turns down Punks advances, but this is a really good idea aswell, Danielson could be brought in by Regal & be the guy that finally beats Christian.

For every Braden Walker, thank god there's a Vance Archer.

anyone else wonder how ECW had a better go home show than raw did? i guess 2 solid matches more than the variety show helps

"Thankfully it appears they have scrapped the Flaming Pile known as the Abraham Washington Show"
It hasn't been on every episode of ECW (we would be so lucky), so don't go thanking your lucky stars, yet.

Could be ratings related. Maybe they wanted to see if they could bump up the ratings a bit by opening with a match involving the ECW Champion.

thats a great idea that hadn't occured to me.
punk pulls him out the audience, is about to shave his head and BAM! Muay Thai kicks all around and then cattle mutilation for punk! instant feud and you know the matches will be great. Book it!!

I don't think Danielson will be at Mania. In recent years, it looks like you need to be with the company for awhile, usually at least a year on TV, before you're allowed to get the Mania payday. Unless you're over huge quickly, but I don't think even Danielson could pull that off in 2 months. And the chances of an ECW match at Mania is usual slim or short -- Christian will probably be thrown in Money in the Bank again. Maybe next year for Danielson, but this year, he's lucky if he is one of Cena's entrance guys.
