411's WWE Raw Report 02.01.10
Posted by Rob McNew on 02.01.2010
The Rated R Superstar returns to Raw and gets introduced to Sheamus. Elsewhere, the Road to WrestleMania is officially underway, Bret Hart returned and was humiliated by Vince McMahon and Batista, William Shatner hosted the show, the Elimination Chamber match gets five qualifiers and much more! Check out 411’s complete WWE Raw report for all the details!
-Royal Rumble winner Edge is out to start the show. He says he's back, and he's not just back in the WWE but back in the main event of Wrestlemania. He wants to take us back six months ago when he and Chris Jericho had won the Unified Tag Titles, and then he got injured. The doctors had him coming back in March or later, and maybe even later. He was sitting at home watching the Slammy's, and Chris Jericho thanked him for getting injured so he could team with the Big Show. He says when Jericho was making light of his injuries the room got very silent. Not because Dennis Miller bombed with another brutal joke. He made himself a promise that he has missed two Wrestlemania's due to injury, and he wasn't about to miss a third. He realized who he is, and that's the Ultimate Opportunist. He promised he was going to prove the doctors wrong, and rehab harder than he ever had before. He promised that he would enter the Royal Rumble, and he was going to win. Seven weeks later Chris Jericho has his Slammy and a mug shot on TMZ. He has a ticket to the main event of Wrestlemania. He can face any champion he wants. Two years ago he faced The Undertaker, and he lost. But unlike Shawn Michaels if he wants to get him again he can have him. He asks if the smart thing would be to go after the guy who is undefeated at Wrestlemania, or a guy who has never even been to Wrestlemania. He says he could make his decision now, but he's going to do the smart thing and wait until after The Elimination Chamber pay per view. One thing he does know is the Rated R Superstar is going to headline Wrestlemania. That brings out Sheamus, who says Edge has been back 5 seconds and he's already mouthing off. Sheamus says things has changed since he's been gone. Edge cracks that things have changed. Raw has been taken over by an evil Ronald McDonald. Sheamus says he was able to do something Edge couldn't do last year at Wrestlemania, and that's beat John Cena for the WWE Title. Edge reminds him that he made a career out of beating John Cena for the WWE Title. Sheamus says that was a long time ago, and this is now. If he can beat Cena and Orton he will have no trouble beating Edge. He tells him to run off to Smackdown before he gets hurt, and when Edge doesn't move Sheamus takes him out with a cheapshot. Sheamus goes for the big boot, but Edge ducks and takes him down. Edge delivers a spear, and stands tall over the fallen champion. Well any doubt on Edge's heel/face alignment was removed there.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes
Poor Cody doesn't have a prayer here does he? Rhodes attacks early with a flurry of kicks stomping Cena down in the corner. Cena fights back, but is quickly taken down with a Side Russian Legsweep for two. Cody hits a swinging neckbreaker for two, and drops a knee on Cena for another near fall. Cody goes for another kneedrop that misses, and eats a pair of flying shoulderblocks from Cena. Cena goes for the protoplex, but Rhodes counters into a rollup for two. Cena goes right back to the protoplex this time connecting and hitting a five knuckle shuffle. Rhodes counters the attitude adjustment with a knee to the face, and drops Cena with a faceplant suplex. Rhodes hits a moonsault for two, and then catches a charging Cena with a knee to the face. Cena immediately hits an attitude adjustment after that to win at 2:50. Insert SuperCena complaints here. Match wasn't bad at all though. They packed a lot into just under three minutes. Winner: John Cena (Pinfall-Attitude Adjustment **)
-A recap of Montreal is followed by Josh Mathews catching up with Mr. McMahon. He asks if he's seen Bret Hart yet, but Vince says he hasn't and neither has anyone else. He doubts anyone will either because he doesn't think Bret will show up. Vince goes into his office where he finds someone who barged into his office. He asks if these Canadians have any humility at all, and says if he has something to say then say it. It's of course not Bret Hart but William Shatner. Shatner says as a fellow Canadian, as a fan of WWE, and more importantly as a human being he can't wait for Bret Hart to embarrass him tonight.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Jack Swagger vs. Triple H
Why in the blue hell are we bothering with qualifying matches if this is what we're getting? What's next? Orton vs. Primo? Michaels vs. Chavo? Swagger grabs a go behind, and celebrates until he gets a right hand from HHH. HHH comes back with a high knee, and clotheslines Swagger over the top as we head to break. We return with Swagger charging into a boot, but coming right back with a DDT for two. Swagger drops an elbow on HHH, and delivers a legdrop for two. Swagger goes for an abdominal stretch, but HHH counters into a hiptoss. HHH sidesteps a charging Swagger and fires him over the top rope to the floor. HHH comes out after him, but Swagger sends him face first to the apron. Back inside Swagger delivers a running powerslam for two, and locks in a rear chinlock. Swagger goes for a Vader Bomb, but HHH gets the knees up to counter. HHH hits the facebuster for two, and drives Swagger face first into the top buckle. HHH connects with the spinebuster for a two count. HHH goes for the pedigree, but Swagger counters into a backdrop. Swagger hits the Vader Bomb for two, and then delivers a belly to belly for a near fall. Swagger connects with a series of shoulderblocks in the corner, and then picks up HHH in position for another running powerslam. Swagger walks around like an idiot pointing at the Wrestlemania sign, so HHH counters into the Pedigree to finish at 9:07. Again Swagger goes in the ring and pushes a top guy to the limit in a good match. Is anyone paying attention? Anyone? Winner: Triple H (Pinfall-Pedigree ***)
-William Shatner delivers spoken word versions of Sexy Boy, My Time is Now, Booyaka 619, and The Game. This is epic.
-Triple H stops by Shawn's locker room to talk. Hornswoggle wants something, but HHH runs him off. He calls out Shawn for eliminating him, and says he never would have done that to him. Then he of course says of course he would and laughs it off. Shawn says it wasn't supposed to be this way, but HHH tells him to get over it. He says what he needs to do is get in that Elimination Chamber, and one of them will win the title. He's got no problem with tearing the house down with him in the main event, and all Shawn has to do to make it happen is beat Orton. I think Shawn lies down or something, because he didn't really look convinced.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels
Orton backs Shawn into the corner, and they stare down as Orton breaks. A second trip to the corner ends with Shawn delivering a series of chops, and he then hits the ropes with a swinging neckbreaker. Shawn goes for Sweet Chin Music off the ropes, but Orton bails to the floor. Shawn goes out after him, so Orton heads inside and goes for the hangman's DDT. Shawn ducks out of that, and chops Orton into the ring. Shawn hits a crossbody off the top rope for two, but Orton comes back to reverse an Irish Whip sending Shawn upside down to the corner. Orton hits an inverted backbreaker, and begins his signature stomps. Shawn comes back with a chop, but Orton answers with the standing dropkick for two. Orton grabs a chinlock, and sets Shawn up on the top rope delivering a European Upper Cut. Orton tries for a superplex, but Shawn fights him off. Orton goes back for the superplex, but again Shawn fights him off this time setting up the vintage Shawn elbow drop. Shawn tunes up the band, but Orton ducks and goes for RKO. Shawn counters that into an inverted atomic drop, and hits a chop. Shawn hits the ropes, and delivers a flying forearm. Shawn nips up, but Orton catches him in the nip up and rolls him up for the quick pin at 6:39. Shawn again looks to be on the verge of snapping, as he storms off. Whatever is building here is working beautifully. Winner: Randy Orton (Pinfall-Rollup ***)
-Dibiase meets Orton in the back to congratulate him, and let him know he's really sorry about last night. He says he can't speak for Cody, but he's really sorry. Orton stops him, and just walks away in disgust.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Mark Henry vs. Ted Dibiase
Henry shoves Dibiase away casually on the lockup, and follows with a big shoulderblock. Henry clotheslines Dibiase over the top to the floor, and heads outside after him. Dibiase is able to grab Henry's arm and wrap it around the ring post, but Henry comes back with a headbutt. Dibiase gives Henry a drop toehold sending him head first into the ringsteps, and then rolls back inside. Dibiase goes to work on the injured arm with a series of legdrops on the shoulder picking up a two count. Dibiase grabs an armbar, but Henry comes back with a clothesline. Henry tries an avalanche in the corner, but charges into the boot of Dibiase. Ted goes to the top rope for a crossbody, but gets caught and put on the apron. Dibiase drops down with the injured arm across the ropes, and comes inside to go for Dream Street. Henry pushes him into the corner, and again goes for an avalanche again but again it is dodged by Dibiase. Dibiase connects with an armbar DDT which picks up the upset victory at 3:07. In case you were wondering this proves that in WWE's eyes. Ted > Cody. Winner: Ted Dibiase (Pinfall-Armbar DDT *1/2)
-Special tribute is shown acknowledging the passing of WWE Hall of Famer Jack Brisco.
-Kelly and Gail make small talk when Maryse walks by to tell Gail she's really looking forward to that Championship match. She says she was watching Smackdown with what is going on with McCool and Mickie and how they are making a mockery of the title. She just wants a good title match, and then says something in French before leaving.
-Miz and Big Show are chilling in Shatner's locker room, and Miz says when TJ Hooker gets here he has no doubt he'll give them a Unified Tag Team Title match against DX. The Straight Edge Society shows up, and they are also looking for a title match because Teddy screwed them on Friday. That brings in the RAW MATCH NEGOTIATOR (complete with cheesy music and graphic). He makes a triple threat for next week, and then pimps Priceline.com and Wells Fargo before going to a freeze frame. Everyone else just looks at him like he's nuts and walks off.
-HHH tries a pep talk to Shawn in the locker room, and tells him he needs to get over this and move on. He tells him he's spiraling down, and it's not the end of the World. He says he's Mr. Wrestlemania, and he doesn't need The Undertaker for that. He says there are plenty of other guys for him to compete with at Wrestlemania. Shawn says "not for me" and walks out.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Kofi Kingston vs. The Big Show
Miz heads out before the bell rings to get a closer look, and join the commentary team. Show overpowers Kofi at the outset delivering a headbutt and an open hand chop. Show delivers a forearm to the back, and hits a kneelift. Show fires Kofi away and charges with a boot, but Kofi ducks and Show straddles the top rope. Kofi hits a dropkick sending Show to the floor as we head to break. We return with Show back in control delivering a headbutt to Kofi and hitting a big open hand chop. Show grabs a chinlock with the arm trapped. Kofi punches Show to get free, but another headbutt sends him crashing to the floor. Miz gets up to get all up in Kofi's grill as he lays on the floor, but MVP jumps from the crowd and attacks him before chasing him out the arena. Show palms Kofi's head up to the apron, but Kofi drops down with him. Kofi goes to the top rope, but loses his balance botching the one legged dropkick. He still hits it partially, and continues his comeback with a spin kick, and low dropkick setting up the boom drop for two. Kofi hops to the second rope for a series of right hands. Show goes for the chokeslam, but Kofi pokes him in the eye on accident. Show goes for the knockout punch. Kofi ducks and instead the referee gets decked, and Kofi gets dumped to the floor. Referee Scott Armstrong comes out and disqualifies Show for hitting the official at 8:21. Show pleads his case screaming that it was an accident, but his complaints go nowhere. Very weird finish, but it gets Kofi in the match where he can hit some big spots. Provided Edge doesn't steal his spot again. Winner: Kofi Kingston (Disqualification-Idiot Referee *1/2)
-NASCAR guy Carl Edwards hosts next week. Wow, I can barely contain my excitement.
-Lawler is in the ring to introduce his "BFF" (Lawler's words not mine) William Shatner. Shatner trips coming into the ring, and takes down Lawler in what may have been a work or shoot. Not sure, but Shatner looks bombed. Although that's kind of his gimmick. Shatner's only purpose in coming to the ring was apparently to show that he was actually here, because all he does is introduce Bret Hart. Bret says it was a little over a month ago since he was here, and for a month he's been thinking about things and putting things in perspective. He came here for all the right reasons. Twelve years is a long time, and it took him a long time to come back and make peace. He says everyone warned him, but he was too naïve. He actually believed that this could be put behind him once and for all, but he was wrong and it doesn't sit very well with him. He says he didn't come here tonight to make peace, or for closure but to talk to Vince McMahon right now. He says Vince needs to get his ass to the ring, or they'll take a camera crew to the back and find him. Vince struts out, and says he wants to get a few things off his chest as well. Before he does he wants to say he never regretted a thing he ever did or said to him. Bret congratulates him because that's the first honest thing he ever said to him. He calls Vince the best there is, was, and ever will be at lying. He says Vince lied in Montreal, he lied a month ago, he lied when he said he was proud of him, and he lied when he said he was like a father to him. Bret says Vince couldn't lace up his dad's jock strap. Bret says John Cena called Vince pathetic, and Bret knows all about pathetic. Eight years Bret was in a wheelchair, and every day he thought about what it would take to stand up and just walk again. He said he'd sit there and cry himself to sleep, and feel pathetic. He says he promised himself he would get out of that wheelchair, and he would not feel pathetic again in his life. He says he showed up on Raw and offered his hand, and was kicked in the gut and left in the ring feeling pathetic. Bret says he has a problem with that. He worked for Vince for fourteen years, and always told himself that someday Vince would appreciate him. He says it took him 20 years to build up a reputation, and 3 minutes for Vince to tear it down. Then two weeks ago Vince described Bret as chewing gum that had lost all the flavor, but Bret says this piece of chewing gum has just enough flavor to kick Vince's ass right here. Vince says in the interest of being honest he wants everyone to know all of Bret's nicknames, and says the best there is, best there was, and best there ever will be is a crock. He remembers one more, and that's being a Canadian hero. He says Bret isn't a hero to Canadians, Americans, or anyone. Bret asks if he's finished, but Vince says no. Vince says he has no idea what the people see in Bret. He is revered by the people, but Vince thinks he's pathetic. Vince tells him he has no personality, and if it wasn't for guys like Shawn, Mr. Perfect, and Austin he'd be a footnote in the midcard. He says Bret has no charisma, and no command over the English language. He says he has a hound dog looking face, stringy greasy hair, and dresses like a hobo. Vince says Bret deserves to be screwed. Vince says he's rethought Stu's induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, because he doesn't deserve it. That's enough for Bret to attack, and beat down Vince. Bret goes for the sharpshooter on Vince, but here comes Batista?!?! Batista beats down Bret, and then holds him for Vince so he can spit in his face. One would assume that Batista gets a title shot for his assistance? That's all for tonight folks.

I liked this show, Shatner was great tonight
Posted By: Bill (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:22 PM
they might go with batista, vince vs cena, bret at mania
Posted By: jeff (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:23 PM
Has to lead to Batista/Cena, if not, what a waste.
Posted By: Brad (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:24 PM
And now the mainevents for WM are clear:
John Cena w/ Bret Hart vs Batista w/ Vince McMahon
Chris Jericho (c) vs Edge for the WHC
Triple H (c) vs Shawn Michaels for the WWEC
Randy Orton vs Ted DiBiase
The Undertaker vs Sheamus
Posted By: Ryan Haseldine (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:24 PM
Good show
Posted By: Nick (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:25 PM
And there you go Cena vs Batista at WM, with Cena standing up for Bret.
Or even more madness Shawn wants to help Bret, has a match with Batista at WM for eliminating him from the rumble.

Best Raw in a long long time

WAIT A MINUTE!
NO DIVA MATCH?
Posted By: Guest#6510 (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:28 PM
So...an hour and a half in...shatner shows up...and makes a match for NEXT WEEK...if you're gonna have a guest host...use them!! Fuck it's not that hard!! Damn it...They could even say something like "Oh William Shatner made the qualifying matches when he got to the arena." Something simple like that would make the guest host somwhat believable during certain weeks.
Posted By: P.T. (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:29 PM
I guess everyone who said Cena w/ Bret vs. Batista w/ Vince is right. I'll be damned...
Posted By: G (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:30 PM
So...
We can pencil in Cena-Batista for Mania, with ringside involvement for Vince & Bret, unless it's a tag match. I also think we're building Orton-DiBiase as well. Assuming Taker-HBK and MITB, what are we left with? Edge-Sheamus? Or the likely rumored match with Edge-Jericho, which leaves the obvious HHH-Sheamus. Punk-Mysterio? Hope so. This could be a very good 'Mania.
Posted By: Guest#8578 (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:32 PM
My take on Batista comeing out to help Vince is this: Actions lead to reactions, reaction will be HBK along side Brett The Hitman Hart vs Vince and Batista at Eliminiation Chanber PPV... Ultimately leading to Batista vs Shawn for title shot against Undertaker at Wrestle Mania and Vince vs Brett at Wrestlemania!!!! That my call, because I am right...oh yeah I could see it being a triple threat match at WM Batista vs Shawn vs Taker, but I won't call that just yet Batista doesn't need a title shot he is boreing!!!

"Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes"
lol.
Posted By: Guest#1312 (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:33 PM
Taker is not facing Sheamus. NO WAY.
I love Bret Hart but this angle is awful and pathetic. I feel sorry for Bret. Bret should have not come back and if he did, he needed to be a pissed off heelish face and not a douchebag.
Posted By: ROH Commish (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:34 PM
I was so much into the bret and vince storyline that I forgot all about the divas title match.
Posted By: madess (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:35 PM
hmm.
WWE has limited Hornswoggle to 20 seconds. Awesome.
I liked the beginning and end of RAW.
Shawn is losing his mind... and his hair...
Too much confusing shit. Like the Straight Edge Society, Edge and Batista showing up on RAW. Can we end the brand split? These other nobodies get to jump to RAW but not Jericho?
The matches were mad boring. What is the point of squashing Cody. And squashing Swagger? That was a boring match. But the ultimate bore of the night goes to Mark Henry. zzz
Maryse says "la champion c'est moi qui va gagner". I love her.
So that brings us to Bret Hart. I was actually glad when Bret got jumped because it was languishing to me. There's only so much Vince and Bret can say to continue the feud. Something had to happen. There was added mystery in the end so I liked it.
Overall I can't complain and this was a good show outside of boring matches in the ring. Also I would say Shaemus has no chance to retain at Elimination Chamber. Thats a relief.

The Vince/Bret segment = shoot.
Posted By: Oh It's True (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:37 PM
Fantastic show. Some good matches, but the story building was immense with HBK, the Edge situation and the final segment.
Always the best time of year to be a wrestling fan, the Rumble was awesome, the chamber matches will be great and Wrestlemania looks like it's gonna have that epic feel to it that it lacked last year, Cena v Batista will be huge, Bret finally putting Vince in the sharpshooter, Taker-HBK the rematch, Edge v Jericho looks likely, hopefully a bunch of other good stuff as well, can't wait, wish WWE would deliver like this the other 9 months of the year and not just the road to Wrestlemania.

Im ok and good to go tonight
Posted By: HHH's Quad (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:38 PM
What happened to the Divas title match? Not that we needed it, but... still...
So yeah, somehow everybody thinks that it's gonna be Batista/Cena in some capacity but I disagree. Since Shawn & Bret are all buddy-buddy, they could easily be the tandem to go across from Vince & Batista, and Batista eliminating HBK from the rumble just stirs that pot.
I hope not though. I wanna see Heel HBK vs Face HHH
Posted By: ausjimmy (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:39 PM
Another NASCAR driver as guest host.
Feels like Summerfest already.
Posted By: Dirtfoot (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:39 PM
Those Shatner segments were the first time WWE have featured actually-*funny* comedy skits in years.
Great episode.
Especial praise to HHH and Cena for making their younger opponents look great even when the outcome was obvious.
Posted By: Chungles (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:40 PM
Very good Raw.
I'm thinking it will be a tag match if Bret Hart can go. Cena and Hart vs Batista and McMahon. I like it. Hart vs McMahon probably wouldn't be very good and it keeps Batista and Cena away from the title matches for at least one WM.
Upper Card guys such as Cena, HHH, Orton are Upper Card guys for a reason. Face it, they are better than the younger guys still, (better than anyone in TNA) so seeing Swagger, Cody fight and lose isn't a big deal. They held their own and didn't look bad. I believe their time will come.(Well Swagger at least)
Dibiase and Kofi were the right two (younger ones) to get in to the Chamber. Kofi can look great in there.
Dibiase can finally elimate Orton and set up that match for Mania.
Shemaus might still win thou and face HHH at WM....wondering what they do with HBK. Nice build up coming here.
Posted By: Shane (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:45 PM
HHH vs Batista redux @ mania. . Why else have the "confrontation" between them on Smackdown? Outside shot HHH/Batista/Cena 3 way for the title when Trips or Cena win it at the elimination chamber.
Posted By: 5150 (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:45 PM
Great stuff tonight.
Smackdown and Impact have some decent shows, but Raw tonight was one of those shows that builds towards something that people will pay money to see, which the others don't, when Raw is on form, it can't be touched.
Posted By: Guest#3067 (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:46 PM

1. RIP Jack Brisco
2. Shatner's singing = awesome!
3. I missed Bret much more than I thought I would
4. Welcome back Edge, now STAY interesting!
5. HBK needs to get Chavo's hair doctor asap! Now I know why he never cut the hair band 'do
6. Batista w' Vince vs. ? w' Bret is lame- I hate these angles where the wrestler is represented by the guys with the real beefs; look at the Trump/Lashley shit from a few yrs ago.
7. More NASCAR hosts? WHYYYYY???? Shit, any old "Legend" of WWE would be better.
Posted By: FUZEY (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:49 PM
I just want to say that, regardless of all the negativity that will probably be spewed online, Cena w Bret v Batista w Vince will be fucking epic and probably will draw a mega buyrate, even by Mania standards.
Posted By: Guest#4532 (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:51 PM
Sounds like the first entirely decent or better Raw in 5 years. I'm pissed I missed it.
Posted By: Guest#0233 (Guest) on February 01, 2010 at 11:51 PM
I don't think the Divas title match was ever supposed to happen tonight. On the Raw page on WWE.com, it had something mentioning that Gail vs. Maryse is the final match but didn't say the match was tonight.
Based on the backstage segment, it wouldn't surprise me if they do some more build to the match the next two shows, then have it at the PPV later this month.

Taker-HBK
Cena-Tista
Edge-Jericho
Orton-Ted
Punk-Rey
Sheamus-HHH?
MITB match
Yeah, Mania is pretty much going to rock this year unless they fuck up big time

No predictions yet because I think that WWE will go with unexpected match-ups for WrassleMania.
Posted By: MosCow the Communist Bovine (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 12:16 AM
Why do they bury Swagger one week, then make him look strong the next? They need to make up their mind, that was a damn good match he had with HHH.

I watched that punch from Big Show on the ref in slow mo, and he REALLY connected. You could also see the knot on his head after the punch. Im sure that wasnt scripted and led to the odd DQ finish to put Kofi in the Chamber!

That may have been the best Raw since Ventura, albeit still paling in comparison to last week's Smackdown. Shatner was great, and the final segment was riveting for anyone with any sort of stake in Bret's career and legacy.
Lots of wrestling was a pleasant surprise. It's just a shame that most of it was really short and... not very good. Swagger carried HHH to a really good match (yes, he did). Orton-HBK was a real tease--I'd love to see those guys go at it in a nice long match.
Lastly, Orton has cursed Kofi. He's botched something in every match since, despite looking great the whole year before. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

WHC - Jericho (c) v. Taker v. Edge
WWEC - HHH (c) v. HBK heel
ECW - Christian vs. Big Show
Cena w/Bret v. Batista w/Vince
Orton v. DiBiase
Mysterio (mask) vs. Punk (hair)
MITB - Sheamus, Bourne, Miz, MVP, Shelton, Morrison, Kofi, Rhodes
IC Title - Drew McIntyre v. R-Truth
Diva's match
Battle Royal with everyone else
Posted By: Guest#6562 (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 12:46 AM
I would like to see a main eventer(uppercard) win MitB & cash-in the same night. Example scenario: Dibiase wins title in Elimination Chamber. Sheamus gets WM rematch. Orton finds way into & wins MitB (knocking off Cody and/or Kofi en route), then cashes in, & wins title from Dibiase/Sheamus winner. Orton gets payback against Kofi, Cody, Dibiase, & Sheamus. Thus ending Legacy, along with sending Sheamus to the midcard w/ Kofi, & finalizing RKO's status as face/heel tweener. Ideal but unlikely.

What happened to the diva's championship match between Maryse and Gail Kim? Are they showing it on WWE superstars?

I didn't watch RAW, but did Bret actually say he was in a wheelchair for 8 YEARS?
Also, the stuff Vince said about Bret sounds a little... ouch.

Thunderfoot, that's a horrible, HORRIBLE idea. Headline WM with Dibiase & Sheamus? HORRIBLE! Dibase, other than his last name, sucks.

2010 is the end of the brand split! Book it!
It's time that all 3 brands wrestle, sorry, "sports entertain" on all 4 shows. I remember when you had to watch more than one show a week to watch story lines progress. There were a lot more cliff hangers at the end of shows and a lot more stuff got accomplished every week. Please end the brand split, un-unify (ify?) the tag titles, and allow all of the wrestlers to be on all of the shows. Obviously they will still have to travel in 2 different crews so the E can run 2 seperate house shows per night, but on TV nights they can all come together. I might even tune into Sy-Fy once in a while if this were to happen.

Why can't HBK's chase take him to Mania for the MiTB match which he wins and faces taker after he defends or...
HBK costs Taker the title at the next ppv
Posted By: Big Dirty (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 01:13 AM
Next week HBK snaps during match & kicks HHH again. Big Show then punches out HBK. Punk covers HHH (revenge for Rumble elimination) & Miz covers HBK ending in double pin. Titles are split-up. SAS goes on to defend against Hart Dynasty, CrimeTyme, Hardy/Khali. MizShow defend against whatever combination of Raw wrestlers. No need for Unified Champions free roam of both shows anymore because of upcoming draft lottery will re-align rosters. Miz loses U.S. title MVP/Kofi/Swagger at somepoint. Also expected break-up of DX culminates with HHH vs. HBK or even HHH vs. HBK vs. Taker at WM. Regardless of outcome, HBK &/or HHH take months off to alleviate congestion of the uppercard. Just another scenario... or wishful thinking.
Posted By: Shaska "Pistol Pez" Watley (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 01:22 AM
I hope Christian remains ECW champ & wins MitB. When it's time to cash in, the ECW title will be on the line also. Whoever wins either unifies/absorbs ECW title with whichever other title is involved. This would finally end ECW & send roster to Raw &/or Smackdown.

I'm wondering how someone can "predict" that Ted Dibiase will headline Wrestlemania and yet still keep a straight face.
Then again, these are probably the same people that think Orton is a credible heel when in fact he only comes across as a comedy show all the way up to Planet Stasiak levels with his retarded RKO/Punt "preparations".

John Cena w/ Bret Hart vs Batista w/ Vince McMahon
Chris Jericho (c) vs Edge for the WHC
Triple H (c) vs Shawn Michaels for the WWEC
Randy Orton vs Ted DiBiase
The Undertaker vs Sheamus

Switch Sheamus for HBK and I think you're spot on. I could see HBK turning heel and costing UT the title at Elimination Chamber, setting up a non-title grudge match, and Sheamus somehow survives the chamber to defend against HHH at Mania (after all, they ARE workout buddies)

What would have been cool if Rey Mysterio came in and attacked Batista.
Posted By: Jerry (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 04:09 AM
I do think RAW excels mainly in ONE Category and that's the promo one.
From The Shat covering some WWE themes to him playing the "negotiator" for the Triple threat Tag Team Title Match next week to Edge calling Sheamus "evil ronald mc donald" and mentionning Drunk Jericho on TMZ, it was pure gold.
Last but not least, Bret Hart delivered a very emotionnal and impressive speech, especially for a 52 years old recovering from a stroke.
I did not expect the hitman to be able to deliver this kind of promo and he beat my expectation.
Vince was amazing on the mic as usual (who else can get any single crowd eating on the palm of his hands in the current roster ?), so much people were just begging to see him on the sharpshooter.
Icing on the cake, Tista coming totally out of nowhere to destroy Bret before putting him in an humiliating posture and Vince abusing The Hit Man even more to some nuclear heat.
If you add the morale breakdown of one HBK, who, in the space of 24 hours , lost BOTH opportunities at a title shot at Mania next march and looks more and more like a depressed/psychotic character (I swear I could see him stalking Taker on SD! every week now).
The WWE is truly playing their cards well when it comes to building some suspense and expectations towards this year's Mania.
Right now here are the matches I can think of :
WWE Championship :
Could be either Sheamus, HHH, Cena or Orton winning.
I do think Orton will get eliminated because of or by Ted Dibiase in the chamber so I see Sheamus retaining or HHH winning this one...Till HBK comes out and snap totally on HHH , SCM him again to get HunThor eliminated from the title picture at Mania, setting up Face HHH vs Evil HBK there.
On the WHC side of things, Taker will obviously drop the belt to a heel (my money is on Chris Jericho and possibly CM Punk too).
Edge will challenge the winner of this one (sheamus vs edge would fail, cena vs edge or hhh vs edge = already done, only RKO would be a fresh and exciting opponent to Edge on the raw side of things).
It's now more obvious than ever than Bret Hart will take on Vince O Mac in a tag encounter.
The Animal is definitively the guy I see sinding with Vince after tonight.
The question is who the one to side with Bret ?
While HBK would be an epic swerve and seeing him teaming and owning Vince would be even more surreal, he is obviously heel bound to face either HHH or Taker at Mania.
Which leaves one John Cena to team with The Hitman to take on Vince and The Animal.
Posted By: Guest#5875 (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 04:11 AM
Mania 26 Card :
A/ WHC :
Chris Jericho (c) vs Edge
B/ WWE Title Match
Randy Orton (c) vs Ted Dibiase Jr
C/ Gruelling Match
HHH vs HBK
D/ Bret Hart/John Cena vs Vince/Batista
E/ Mask vs Beard or Hair (or both) title match
Rey Mysterio vs CM Punk
F/ Money In Da Bank :
Kofi (Raw) vs Miz (Raw) vs Drew (SD!) vs Morrison (SD!) vs Shelton (ECW) vs Yoshi (ECW) vs Swagger (RAW) vs Hardy (SD!)
Posted By: Mania 26 (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 04:16 AM
Serious Shawn is gold I tells ya.
Wrestlemania is shaping up nicely, but there will be at least one turkey - Sheamus's match.
Still, Sheamus vs ??? (assuming Sheamus isn't in MITB) can't be any worse then Orton/HHH last year.
Posted By: Quimby (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 04:26 AM
Raw was shit hot last night. Best in a long time. I still don't think that HBK will face Taker, and I still think that the Hart Dynasty will get involved with Bret v Vince, probably after the Chamber though.
As for SD, i would book:
Taker vs Batista - World Title
#1 contender match - Jericho vs Punk vs Morrison vs McIntyre vs Rey vs Ziggler
This is a long shot, but WWE might even have 'HBK vs Edge' winner goes to mania. ala HBK vs Nameless just before Maina 20
But those predicitions will probably fuck up the best mania card.
Taker vs Jericho
HBK vs HHH
Bret w/Cena v Vince w/ Batista (Harts involved somewhere along the way)
Edge vs Christian - Crazy i know, but who else does Christian have to face?
Orton vs DiBiase vs Rhodes
That leaves a poor WWE title match, maybe Sheamus vs Kofi? Who knows
Punk vs Rey
MITB - Morrison (his turn) vs Ziggler vs Miz vs Bourne vs McIntrye vs Swagger vs Shelton vs Truth.
Ahh well, im a terrible booker. Who knows what will happen
Posted By: qwerty (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 04:38 AM
Just when you think you have all the fantasy booking answers, they change the questions! Whereas last year's WrestleMania card was pretty predictable a few months out, this year's still has me guessing, and tonight did nothing to change that. I like it!
While some scenarios are more likely than others, HBK could face Triple H, Taker, or team with Bret against Batista and Vince. And it would all be plausible at this point.
Meanwhile, Triple H v. Sheamus looks weak on paper, but we all know the Celtic Warrior is Hunter's pet project, so maybe he'd face his apprentice at the big show.
I would have thought Batista would continue his issue with Mysterio into the Granddaddy of Them All, but now he might be busy with Cena of all people. Then who knows where that would leave Mysterio. I like that Mask v. Hair against Punk suggestion.
Only Dibiase v. Orton, with Cody stirring the pot, and Edge v. Jericho look somewhat clear right now. But even those could change.
This is some great, unpredictable booking. Keep it coming, E!

why the hell are they going with edge vs sheamus. it should be jericho vs edge considering how jericho talked about edge dabout his injury. jericho should win the world heavyweight title from the deadman and edge should challenge him at mania not sheamus.

Some highlights:

- "Sheamus will be in a main event of Wrestelmania"
- but the best has to be the entire comment posted by Shaska "Pistol Pez" Watle
Thanks for the laugh guys.

Good Raw for a change, the build up with HBK has been great so far & everything is very open as to who he faces at Wrestlemania, after Edges promo i hope that Jericho wins the title in the chamber & Edge challenges him, The Vince-Bret segment was good & if it leads to Cena v Batista with Bret & Vince in each corner that will make sense.
I love this time of year.
Posted By: jbardo (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 07:07 AM
I never thought i would say this but i wouldnt mind HHH winning the title off Sheamus in the chamber & facing HBK for the title at Wreslemania

A tag match with Cena/Bret and Batista/Vince just makes sense considering Cena's back issues and Bret's rust. You don't want either guy to be in an extended singles match for either reason so hiding each impairment in a tag match is a good idea.

Meh,
you guys are way too easilly impressed, either that or a show that is actually acceptable gets rave reviews from the posters here.
Shatner doing the songs was funny, so that I can give them, so they have had or 4 guys now deliver out of the 35 or so they have had, still not a very good average.
This whole HBK thing is deja vue all over again. Last year he was JBL's lacky this year he goes on another typical losing streak right before WM only to somehow get into a main event type match.
And if he and HHH are tag team champs why arent they defending the belts at WM? All this shit and the belts are in thehands of these guys. I guess its true they are really trying to kil off tag team wrestling in the WWE. Because with these guys with the belts there isnt anyay they get defended at WM. Unless of course they lose them and throw together a match somehow, but then again there is no real tagteam drame these days so not sure how it can deliver.
And was it just me or did anyone else expectt "EXCUSE ME...EXCUSE ME" during Edges promo. He was doing so many stupid things right before he got hurt (winning the belt with Jericho was so wierd itdidnt even count IMO) that having Vicky walk out would have fit right in.
I dont like Edge, never have, so him being back and thrust right back into the main event picture just makes it that much easier to fast forward through most of this on the DVR.
But hey next week maybe Kofi can trash another car and you idiot WWE marks can make your claim he is getting a mega push again. LOL.

We pretty much can see what's building now..
Both titles WILL change hands in the Chamber matches. Cena will win on Raw and Batista will get the title shot at Mania. They will also be in Vince and Bret's respective corners for their match earlier in the card.
HBK will cost Taker the title, and Jericho walks out World Champ. This sets up Jericho v Edge and Taker v HBK II.
Orton and DiBiase will implode in the Cell, setting up a triple threat at Mania with them two and Cody.
Sheamus will be inserted into MiTB for some added power in that match. And I also see Rey v Punk with a Mask v Hair stipulation.
Mania is starting to take shape and I'm excited for the Chamber event as well.

I don't care if that was scripted, Vince made Bret look stupid for real. Everything he said about Bret was so mean spirited. It reminded me of the Piper segment from a couple of months ago; comments that struck way too close to reality, with Bret/Piper not really being allowed to come back with good responses.
If it wasn't for Vince's facial expressions, and his very scripted comment about Stu not deserving the HOF, this would have come off almost like a shoot. Bret looked terrible, the beatdown sucked, and now this feud has lost all it's juice.
Posted By: Guest#6373 (Guest) on February 02, 2010 at 12:39 PM
A good RAW, even thought I personally thought that Shatner sucked. He was obviously plastered and couldn't get two words out without looking at his cue cards. The only thing that was okay was the singing part.
LOVED the Ref taking one for the team from Big Show. Taking it frame by frame, the Big Show tried to pull the punch, but the ref still got clipped. I imagine even the slightest touch of the Big Show's hoof would not feel good.

Give Ted Dibiase a little slack. After all nobody saw Edge headlining 10 years ago and now look at him[for the people who didnt read this correctly..Edge was in the tag team scene 10 years ago....today he is in a championship match at the biggest show of the year...sound familiar] I think that given enough time to build on their skills, and develope a new personality they could be the main event at Wrestlemania 35. Remember Edge was a vampire 10 years ago

Really underused Shatner. I want that CD of his.
Good build to both Legacy and DX dissolving. I like the slow build.
Matches were eh but necessary.
Final segment was odd but interesting.

I have a funny feeling that it will be Edge vs Christan for the ECW title at WM. Randy Ortan vs Ted at WM for the WWE title. And undertaker vs HBK for the World title.

I see CM Punk offering to help HBK overcome his "addiction" to defeating the Undertaker at WrestleMania. A head shaving live on RAW...

Shawns addiction isn't a foreign object like drugs or alcohol. Punk is addicted to competion so this doesn't make much sense.

cena with brett in corner vs batista with vince in corner its common sense people

Id like to see the hbk taker triple h story wind up in a triple threat match. A dilemma undertaker has never faced having the threat of losing his streak without being pinned!

Was there live .......... I think they sent Shamus out to get Edge some POP. Can't wait to see how it came over on tv The "Evil Ronald McDonald" Comment was the funniest line of the night. Seen Cena get beat down after the show went off of tv Which was great! Batista/Cena for WM26?

Meh,
you guys are way too easilly impressed, either that or a show that is actually acceptable gets rave reviews from the posters here.
LOL.

Was anyone worried, like myself, that Bret was actually going to take a Batista bomb there at the end? I thought, wow, I didn't think he would take that many bumps, but a Batista Bomb wouldn't be the one I would start with thats for sure.

I just watched Raw now. The wrestling was good. The qualifying matches for Elimination Chamber were all pretty good. Orton-Michaels and Triple H vs Swagger were both really good for not getting a ton of time. Kofi looked like a wuss the way he won. I dont know if thats how they wanted it booked or no. Im not big on Kofi. He really needs to improve his mic skills. He doesnt impress me a whole lot. I rather have seen Show in the chamber even though those here will argue Kofi's high flying will add to the match. Shatner was very unfunny. Those skits he did were lame. I didnt laugh once. Im not saying he was a horrible guest host but very unfunny in those skits, which may or may not have been his fault. Sometimes things will fail no matter what. TV-PG can put some restraints on the humor. Bret segement was good. It'll be interesting to see why Batista attacked him. Ok thats all I can think of.

It's the WWE. It doesn't have to make sense.

I DO NOT want to see HBK vs Taker this year, they had there match last year. It was a fantastic match but theres no way they can duplicate it in a straight up wrestling match.
The reason I think it'll be Sheamus vs Taker is because they're both currently World/WWE Champions. They could have a face to face backstage at Elimination Chamber to set up a match easily.
IF they dont break up DX in the next month the last 3 months of possible turns on each other would have been all for nothing.

Bret was great. His beatdown on vince was good, even his kick looked great. Vince was just selling like a damn sponge. Batista's body blows were too quick and rigid for bret to be able to sell properly, and he did a good job with one of the worst workers in the business "attacking" him.
Get a life, you morons.

Well, I said Shatner sucked and was obviously reading off the cue cards. But now, who can concentrate when you find out that someone you worked with on Boston Legal fucking died that morning?!?! I'm surprised he still showed up.

I'll just win MITB and challenge UT immediately after his match with Edge.

No you won't
