411's TNA Impact Report 02.04.10
Posted by Joseph F. Martinez on 02.04.2010

Hey yo, it's another week of the TNA Impact Report. Earlier I was watching some ESPN and Deion Sanders was talking himself up. I never realized how much he and D'Angelo Dinero sounded alike. Hopefully we have some Pope this week. Anyways, let's get to the recap. There was some confusion over the rating system, so let's post it again.

• Video recapping last week's events. Starts off with the confusing as hell Mick Foley story, discusses the Kurt Angle-AJ Styles drama (Is Earl Hebner suspended?) and some Jeff Jarrett goodness. "The Breaking of the Band" is our title this week. Let's hope that equates to lots and lots of Scott Hall.

• Mike Tenay goes over the show. Three champions will be in action and we get more of that 8 Card Stud tournament.

• It starts now! Brutus Magnus is out for the first 8 Card Stud Qualifying match of the evening. Ken Anderson is his opponent. He does his whole introduction thing. Anderson calls himself the future of the four-sided ring, getting some boos from the fans. He even repeats it and drops Hulk Hogan's name. Before the match begins, we see the ending from last week's Jarrett-Anderson bout.

Match One
Brutus Magnus v. Ken Anderson
8 Card Stud Qualifying Match

So the match starts and they circle the ring. Anderson attacks with a knee and then punches Magnus in the head. In the corner, Anderson throws another punch. He throws another one but Magnus catches and throws some of his own. Anderson gets caught in the corner and Magnus works him over. Ref tries to break it up but Anderson attacks with a dropkick to the shin. Anderson kicks the downed Magnus several times and then adds in an elbow drop. Anderson whips Magnus into a corner and shouts some things at him. He slams Magnus' head against the turnbuckle and then works him over with some kicks in the corner. Anderson and the ref argue while Anderson throws some more kicks. In the corner, Anderson throws another punch. He grabs Magnus' head and tries to send it into a turnbuckle. Magnus blocks. Anderson throws a punch and Magnus replies with his own. Anderson kicks Magnus and sends him against the ropes. Magnus replies with a boot. Another one from Magnus. Rolling elbow from Magnus to Anderson. Magnus wrenches the arm and takes Anderson down. He covers and gets a two count.

Both men get up. Magnus gets Anderson into fireman's carry position. Kennedy gouges the eyes and nails the Mic Check for the victory.

WINNER: Mr. Anderson
It was obvious who was going to win. It was just a decent opener.

• Anderson announces himself the winner after the match.

• We see Mick Foley driving into the Impact Zone.

• We return with a shot of the crowd. Tenay lets us know Kurt Angle and Tomko have an 8 Card Stud Qualifying match. He throws it backstage to Kurt Angle and Christy Hemme. Angle is angry that Hogan let THE BAND attack him from behind last week. Hemme questions Angle's statement and he says that's how Hogan's always been. The screwing of Kurt Angle will end tonight. Angle is coming with a bad attitude.

• Tenay and Taz again discuss the card for tonight. Angelina Love and Tara will have a Knockouts Title bout, Team 3D and Matt Morgan and Hernandez will tangle for the tag straps and everybody's favorite Pope will go up against AJ Styles.

• Eric Bischoff is out to grace us with his presence. Bischoff says that the Hulkster said Foley had to get on the same page as Easy E. Foley made it clear that he wasn't interested in doing that. Bischoff says the decision will cost him dearly and that brings out Mick Foley.

Foley grabs a microphone and says his reputation says he has something wrong with his brain. People call him crazy because he likes everybody. He says people have been trying to get him to say bad stuff about Marcus Bagwell, Paul Heyman and Jim Hellwig. Foley doesn't dislike any of them. But he does have a problem with Eric Bischoff. He calls Bischoff the opposite of everything he stands for. He then says Bischoff was the worst announcer of all time and Taz says Foley must not have heard of Mike Adamle. What a cheapshot. Mike Adamle was the greatest. At least twenty times more entertaining than Taz. Adamle as Raw General Manager was some entertaining TV. Taz is just mad or something.

Anyways, Foley goes off on why he hates Bischoff and Bischoff finally speaks. He says it isn't about the two of them, it's about Foley's decision. Foley says he's saved all of his money from his career so he won't have to answer to idiots like Eric Bischoff. He shows us that he wrote two names on his hand. J.B and Abyss. He then takes Bischoff to task for playing with the careers of Jeremy Borash and Abyss.

Bischoff says power and control makes him tick. If Foley doesn't want to get on the same page as him, Bischoff'll have to turn the page. He tries to explain what he's going to do but Foley talks about his book. "Power should be limited to those that are not in love with it," is what Foley quotes. Foley brings up Bischoff's failures in WCW and then the reality TV Eric has done. Foley talks about his love with pro-wrestling and that the relationship may someday end. He says he refuses to let Bischoff to have his way with the love of his life (pro-wrestling) and walks away.

Until Easy E reminds Foley that the careers of Borash and Abyss are in the palm of Eric Bischoff. He makes a match between Kevin Nash and Mick Foley; no-disqualification. Apparently Mick Foley attacked Kevin Nash sometime in the past and this is Big Sexy's chance at revenge.

• We see Abyss and Jeremy Borash reacting to Foley's decision. Abyss is scared. JB says he came for his last check and Abyss says no. Jeremy Borash brings up their days in WCW and says with Eric Bischoff, nobody is okay. Abyss commences to freak out.

• We get some comments from Tara. Tara reminds us that Angelina Love made the early part of Tara's career a living hell but she seems to have changed. She has Love's respect but plans on keeping the title.

• The World Tag Team Championship match is up next. Team 3D come out first. The champs follow soon after. Taz takes some time to bash Connecticut. Hmm.

Match Two
Team 3D v. Matt Morgan and Hernandez©
TNA Tag Team Championship Match

Hernandez and Bubba Ray start the match off. They grapple for position. Bubba takes Hernandez into the corner until the ref pulls him off. The grapple again, this time with Bubba getting a headlock. Bubba gets sent against the ropes and they reach a stalemate. Hernandez sends Bubba into the ropes and takes him to the ground with a shoulderblock. Hernandez charges him in the corner but Brother Ray moves out of the way. Hernandez gets sent into the other corner and Brother Ray attacks him. Brother Ray goes back for more but Hernandez kicks him and climbs the turnbuckle. Brother Ray and Hernandez trade blows until Bubba throws Hernandez to the mat. He elbow drops him and covers for the pin. Two count.

D-Von gets tagged in and Hernandez gains momentum with some elbows. He tags in Matt Morgan and D-Von attacks with some punches. Morgan sends D-Von into the ropes but D-Von replies with a clothesline. Leg drop from Brother D-Von to Morgan. One count.

D-Von bounces off the ropes for an attack but Morgan is here with a clothesline. Two count. Morgan tags in Hernandez and Hernandez locks the head of D-Von. D-Von elbows out. He runs off the ropes for momentum but runs into Super Mex's shoulder. Hernandez pins and gets a two count. Hernandez places Brother D-Von on the top rope and joins him upstairs. He tries a superplex but D-Von bites Hernandez. Hernandez falls to the ground and D-Von flies down with a diving headbutt. Both men tag in their partners. Brother Ray attacks the Blueprint with multiple punches. Brother Ray tries to send Morgan into the ropes but Morgan stops and attacks with multiple elbows. German Suplex from Ray to Morgan. Super Mex comes in and Bubba Ray takes him out with a Samoan Drop. Team 3D attack Morgan with a double team neckbreaker. Two count.

D-Von goes for the What's up but the Nasty Boys shove him to the ground. Brother Ray tries to attack Hernandez but Hernandez shoves him into the Carbon Footprint of Matt Morgan. Three count ends it.

WINNERS: Matt Morgan and Hernandez
Good TV match. Felt like it lasted a while and it made the Tag Team Champions look good while furthering the Team 3D-Nasty Boys angle.

• The Nasty Boys try to take out Team 3D but Matt Morgan and Hernandez return to make the save. The champs and Team 3D stare each other down for a bit. Team 3D realize Hernandez and Morgan made the save and they leave after trading fist bumps.

• We get a commercial cut-in seeing the Pope, D'Angelo Dinero, preparing backstage for his match against AJ Styles.

• Some guy named Jesse Neal is out for the match. Tenay and Taz discuss his time in TNA. Samoa Joe is Neal's opponent for the evening.

Match Three
Samoa Joe v. Jesse Neal

Neal attacks Joe before he can get into the ring. Neal runs at Joe but Joe catches him and throws him to the mat with a T-Bone suplex. Joe beats down Neal in the corner with chops and punches. He sends Neal to the other corner and charges him with his body. He kicks the head of Jesse Neal. Neal tries to fight but but Joe is there with a headbutt. Jesse Neal attacks the eye of Samoa Joe stunning him for a while. Neal attacks the back of Joe and then attacks with a forearm. Neal climbs the ropes and flies with a crossbody. Joe lackadaisically walks out of the way. Joe attacks Neal with a flurry of open hand slaps. He sends Neal into the corner and attacks with a high knee. He positions Neal for the Musclebuster and nails it. Pinfall ends it.

WINNER: Samoa Joe
Basically a squash match. Pretty much needed since I don't believe Joe was on last week.

• We get sent to the back with Christy Hemme and Hulk Hogan. She asks him about Angle's comments and Hogan hasn't heard them. She tells Hogan that Angle believes Hogan put the hit on him. Christy says Angle is coming after him and Hogan says he'll be waiting for Kurt.

• We return from a commercial break with D'Angelo Dinero's entrance. The announcer lets us know that the match between Pope and Styles will be a non-title one. AJ Styles and Ric Flair make their arrivals as Tenay and Taz discuss the transformation of AJ Styles. Taz redeems himself from the earlier Adamle comment by name dropping Tom Landry. Yeah, I am easily amused.

Match Four
D'Angelo Dinero v. AJ Styles (w/Ric Flair)

Pope and Styles grapple. Styles tries to go behind but Pope wrenches the arm. Styles takes Dinero into the corner and the ref breaks it up. Styles chops Dinero in the chest a couple of times but Dinero is there with a slap. Dinero takes Styles down and applies a headlock. He gets to his feet and locks in an arm wrench. Styles reverses and tries a body slam. Pope squirms out and throws three elbows. Pope whips Styles and sends him flying with a back body drop. Styles rolls out of the ring sending us to a mid-match commercial break.

Commercial cut-in seeing Styles delivering multiple elbows to D'Angelo Dinero.

We return. Styles takes Dinero down with a shoulderblock. He follows that up with an elbow and a chop. He sends Pope into the ropes and eventually connects with a dropkick. The Nature Boy does a little strut on the outside. Styles attacks the downed Dinero with multiple kicks. He chokes Pope with the ropes and the ref warns him. Styles chops Dinero in the corner and Dinero replies with one of his own. Styles throws two more causing the Pope to fall. Styles applies a chinlock on the Pope. Dinero gets to the ropes and the ref breaks it up. Styles goes back to choking Dinero with the ropes. He eventually stops and lifts Dinero for a snap suplex. Styles goes for the cover and gets a one count.

Styles punches the head of D'Angelo Dinero. Dinero gets to his knees and throws some punches. Styles sends Pope into the ropes but Dinero comes back with a sunset flip pin. Quick two count. Styles quickly attacks Pope with an elbow, sending him to the mat. He then re-applies a chinlock. Dinero gets to a vertical base and throws some elbows. AJ drives Pope's head into the mat and then attacks with multiple kicks. Pope tries to slap Styles but the champ is there with more kicks. Styles lifts Dinero and measures him for a punch. Pope blocks it and connects with several strikes. He ducks a Styles punch and attacks with one of his own. Reverse atomic drop by Pope. He follows that up with a shoulderblock. Two count.

Dinero tries to pick Styles up but Styles gouges the eyes and connects with the Pele Kick. Flair talks down to Pope as he gets to his feet and AJ flies into the turnbuckle. Pope moves out of the way and delivers a chop of his own. Pope tries an attack in the ropes (that Taz calls the Coronation) but Styles moves out of the way. Styles picks Pope up for a suplex but Pope blocks and gets a quick roll-up for the win.

WINNER: D'Angelo Dinero
Best match since I've started recapping Impact. It was interesting, went a good while and had a fun feeling throughout.

• Flair and Styles attack Pope after the match. Samoa Joe's music blares and he attacks AJ Styles. He chokes him with his shirt and throws more punches. Flair tries to chop Joe but Joe no-sells it. Joe stands over Flair but Styles chop blocks him from behind. Styles beats down on Joe as Flair attacks the leg. Dinero gets to his feet and attacks Styles and Flair. Joe gets to his feet and throws Flair out. Dinero attacks Styles in the corner. Joe tries to join in but security stops him allowing AJ to escape.

• We return to see Ric Flair asking Joe and Pope if they want to die tonight. Flair says they should know better because this is the new TNA. Pope and Joe are still being constrained by security. Flair mouths off some more until Joe tells him to shut up. Samoa Joe calls Styles a scumbag. Flair tries to talk back but Joe tells him to shut up. Joe says AJ gave up being a man for Ric Flair. Joe says he's going to remind Styles how to be a man and that happens at Against All Odds. Joe is cashing in his title shot.

• Christy Hemme talks to Angelina Love about her match with Tara. Love says she taught the Beautiful People everything they know and she expects them to interfere in her match with Tara.

• Kevin Nash and Eric Young are talking backstage. Eric Bischoff walks in and doesn't know Eric Young's name. He asks Young to leave and Young obliges. Bischoff tells Nash he needs a favor. He wants Big Sexy to destroy Mick Foley in a no-disqualification match. Nash tries to talk Waltman and Hall and Bischoff says he can't do anything about it. Bischoff says he can play the game like The Band or he can destroy Mick Foley for him.

• We come back from a commercial break with highlights of the mic exchange between Foley and Bischoff from earlier. They show a replay of Foley's attack on Nash (that happened two months ago).

• Christy Hemme is with Mick Foley now. She asks if Foley is going to fall in line. Foley says he's going to lace the boots up (that he got for Christmas) and is going to fight Nash. Abyss comes in and asks what Bischoff meant earlier. He asks Foley if he's going to fall in line and Foley says he's going to take care of everything by taking care of business. Mick Foley tells Abyss that he has to stay backstage. No matter what happens, Abyss has to stay backstage. Abyss agrees and leaves the scene.

• It's time to fill the fourth spot of the 8 Card Stud Tournament. Tomko is out first. Tenay says Tomko may have a slight edge in knowing Kurt Angle's focus is blurred by Hulk Hogan. Taz predicts a squash match.

Match Five
Kurt Angle v. Tomko
8 Card Stud Qualifying Match

Angle gets a quick German Suplex. Tomko replies with a big boot. They stare in the center of the ring and Angle attacks with a headbutt. He clotheslines Tomko out of the ring. Angle goes to the outside and slams Tomko's head against the steel steps. He sends Tomko back inside and charges Tomko. Tomko replies with a scoop slam and lifts Angle. Angle gets sent into the corner and Tomko is there with a clothesline. Tomko sends Angle shoulder-first into the steel turnbuckle pole. Tomko takes Angle down with a powerslam and gets a two count.

Tomko applies a chinlock to Kurt Angle. Angle gets to his feet and elbows Tomko in the midsection. Angle runs against the ropes for momentum but Tomko catches him and slams him to the mat. Tomko climbs the turnbuckle and Angle meets him upstairs. He sends Tomko down with a belly to belly suplex. Angle gets to his feet first and takes Tomko out with two German suplexes. Tomko elbows his way out of the third but Angle gets an Angle slam. Tomko kicks out at two.

Tomko takes Angle down with a quick clothesline. He gets to his feet and measures Angle for an attack. He fires a Big Boot but Angle moves out of the way. He attacks with a German Suplex. He gets FIVE German suplexes and then takes the straps down. He locks in the Ankle Lock. He then grapevines it and Tomko taps.

WINNER: Kurt Angle
Kind of slow in the beginning but picked up in the end. Another solid match from this episode of Impact.

• Hernandez, Desmond Wolfe, Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson are in the 8 Card Stud Tournament so far.

• Angelina Love and Tara are seen walking backstage split-screen. Their match is after the commercial break.

• A video package highlighting TNA's recent Maximum Impact tour over seas.

• Video package highlighting the mini-feud between Kevin Nash and Mick Foley.

• Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash are in Hogan's office. Nash says he's a team player but he wants Hogan to give Pac and Scott another chance. Hogan says he wants him in but they've messed up. He tells Nash to distance himself from them. Nash says he'll take out Foley tonight but wants Hogan to keep Hall and Waltman in mind.

• We now get another video package. This time highlighting the Beautiful People feud.

Match Six
Angelina Love v. Tara©
TNA Knockouts Championship Match

Tara and Love grapple. Tara applies a headlock and takes Love to the mat, keeping the side headlock on. Love rolls Tara over for a quick pin. One count. Love gets out of the hold by applying a leg scissors. Tara bridges into a pin and gets a two count. Angelina Love tries a backslide but can't get a one. We get sent to a commercial seeing the ladies grapple.

We get a quick break from commercials seeing Tara applying a wristlock to Angelina Love.

We're back on Impact. Love breaks out of a knuckle lock and knees Tara in the side. She wrenches Tara's arm but Tara rolls out of it. Love sends Tara to the mat and covers. One count. Love sends Tara into a turnbuckle and slams her head against the pad. She tries to do it on the opposite turnbuckle but Love reverses. Lover gets quick rollup but it gets a two. Tara gets a sidewalk slam and covers. That gets a two count. Tara breaks out of Love's grasp. She sends Tara against the ropes and misses a big boot. Tara lifts her the Widow's Peak but Love rolls through. Tara rolls Love up and gets the three.

WINNER: Tara
Nothing special but nothing glaringly bad.

• Love and Tara shake hands after the bout. The Beautiful people run in and attack Angelina Love. Tara just watches the Beautiful People for a while but eventually attacks. Tara and Love clean house.

• Hall and Syxx-Pac are seen scurrying around the Impact Zone parking lot.

• Kurt Angle barges into Hulk Hogan's office. He asks why Hogan let Hall and Syxx Pac attack him from behind. Hogan says he didn't let Hall and Waltman into TNA because they're thugs. He says Kurt Angle's temper is the problem. Hogan hopes the temper doesn't cost Angle any more opportunities. Angle says he can't trust Hogan and says this is Hogan's last warning. Hogan asks Angle to leave the office and Angle does.

• It's main event time. Foley is the first participant out. Kevin Nash joins him soon after with a shopping cart full of weapons.

Match Seven
Mick Foley v. Kevin Nash

Foley attacks Nash with his barbed wire bat but Nash has a trash can for protection. The can falls so Nash grabs a steel chair. Foley keeps on attacking with the bat and Nash keeps on blocking with the chair. Nash picks up a hockey stick and takes Foley down by the legs. Nash grabs the bat and puts it in the face of Foley. Foley blocks the majority (if not all) of it and delvers a low blow to Big Sexy. Running punch from Foley to Nash that sends Nash to the mat. Kevin Nash rolls to the outside but Foley is there soon after. Foley sends Nash into the steel guardrail and then throws some punches at Nash. He slams Nash's head against the apron and connects with more punches. Nash gets in the ring and Foley is there with a picture. He hesitates and Nash boots him in the head for the win.

WINNER: Kevin Nash
Neither man looked good and the finish was pretty lame. I thought there was going to be a run-in when the match started with 7 minutes left but it ended like it did.

• THE BAND is out with Nash. We see that the photo Foley was holding was of Abyss and Foley. Instead of attacking Foley, Hall and Syxx Pac attack Kevin Nash. Hall does his Scott Hall pose and we see a shot of the ring from above. Nash and Foley on the mat and Hall and Waltman standing tall.

Where do I begin?

Face/face-heel/heel matches with zero build. TNA world champ losing clean leading to nowhere. Sloppy Joes showed up in his underwear. Title matches with no build. Main event with oldies that can barely move. Plus we got more Nasty Boyz!

Why were Tara's tits blurred out?

I was actually liking tonight's show until that ending, too bad

can we just fast forward to angle vs anderson with anderson winning to face aj at lockdown.....?

You know Taz and his shots at WWE are really getting sad, old and really pathetic considering he is fading fast as an announcer.

Posted By: Russo (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:12 PM

Great impact aside from that shitty Main event, I mean come on now, that wasnt even wrestling at the end, and if thats what Kevin Nash does when he destroys people nowadays, it wasnt that impressive

Posted By: That guy (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:14 PM

Foley losing to a big boot was pathetic.

Taz was awful all night. In particular when he said Styles is living his "gimmick". Kayfabe FTW.

What was the blur on Tara for? She never reached to adjust her top and if her nip was out, the ref or angelina should have told her.

And who is more out of shape: Samoa Joe or Tubby Tomko?

Does anyone else find it incredibly stupid that Angle hits 5 rolling Germans and then goes right to the Anglelock for the submission? He works the back the whole match and then uses a leg submission. I swear psychology is GONE from wrestling...

Posted By: NWAJCP4ever (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:16 PM

Bischoff didn't even know who Eric Young was. Hernadez and Morgan all but forgotten about as the 'future'. Where was Desmond? Orlando Jordan? X-division? Or even Morley? Hey Daniels what's up?

why were tara's boobs blurred throughout the match?

can i assume steiner is gone and sting aint nowhere to be seen as that story was completely dropped and jeff hardy and shannon moore and lashley...anyone else left-time to cut the dead weight in tna asap

This whole angle with Foley and that damn picture is one of the worst of all time. I mean really? A picture? God, get a clue. Foley's run in TNA has been pretty awful and I think even he would begrudgingly have to admit that eventually, once he's sold his latest book of course. What is he a face or a heel? Or one of Russo's tweeners? I guess who cares? Nobody's watching Impact or the PPV's anyway after almost 8 years.

average show raw was much better this week

Nash/Foley may have been the worst match I've ever seen.

Posted By: Jeff (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:22 PM

A wrestling show in the year 2010 ended with Scott Hall & X-Pac standing tall as it goes off air?

To make matters worse, the 2 young studs I guess we're supposed to tune in to see get revenge next week just had the worst match of the year, that Nash-Foley match truly was abysmal.

Posted By: Guest#7197 (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:25 PM

With the exception of the main event, I thought this was a very solid and entertaining Impact.

Posted By: Pat (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:30 PM

Again, 5 of the 7 matches on this show were face v face or heel v heel, when the fuck will Russo realize that shit doesn't draw! He's tried it for the past decade and it has never worked, WWE makes money because Cena and DX are the heroes and people pay to see them beat the Ortons and Punks, if TNA had a similar thought process more than 15,000 people might purchase their PPV's.

Posted By: Guest#8628 (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:33 PM

Terrible end to an otherwise good episode. Just highlights how screwed up Hogan & Bischoff's priorities are when they think that is the key part of the show.

Posted By: Donners (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:33 PM

Wow...TERRIBLE finish to Impact.

TNA really sucks right now. Ken Anderson is absolute garbage, I was really enjoying when he wasn't on television at all.

AJ's heel turn was dumb. Scott Hall and Syxx-Pac (What's wrong with Sean Waltman?) attacking Nash is just lazy booking.

They have no ideas. TNA is just treading water.

Where was Wolfe, Beer Money, the Guns, etc tonight? When they weren't on last time I thought it was just a one off? I mean they find time for the fucking Nasty Boys each week.

Anyone know whay Tara's Top got blurred out about half way through her match? I highly doubt it was a "wardrobe malfunction" since several times during the rest of the match bot the ref and Angelina looked at Tara and would have seen something. Was it simply a censor decided that they couldn't show the word POISON which was written on her top?

Posted By: AdamCap82 (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:39 PM

I'm hoping there's going to be some pics of what the blur is hiding

Posted By: Guest#6116 (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:44 PM

TNA is almost unwatchable right now, the whole show feels old and recycled.

I'm not a Jeff Hardy fan, but they need to sort his contract out and get him on TV, he could put some energy into the show, he's still young and he should still be riding a huge wave of momentum from how well WWE built him up last year.

What a sorry sight that main event was, it evoked memories of Hogan and Warriors rematch in WCW. Nash and Foley just don't have it anymore and it's sad to see them out there like that.

You know you suck when a Drunk and a druggie who haven't been relevant over a decade end your show.

Where was WOLFE... why are they wasting Pope vs AJ now?? Pope is going to be a star.

Hogan you FAIL!

Posted By: Andrew Barbarash (Guest)  on February 04, 2010 at 11:56 PM

Remember when TNA tried to justify the old guys of the MEM taking up all the TV time for a year straight by saying "the young guys will go over in the end and then take the spotlight while the has beens are phased out", or something to that effect, well Hogan and Bischoff are going to be singing the same tune I guarantee it. In reality, nothing will change, the old guys will still be reigning on top in 2011. Hall and Waltman will obviously have been fired by then, but Hogan, Bischoff, Foley, Nash, Jarrett and the rest will still be getting more TV time than anyone.

I always think it's pretty cool that taz keeps saying week in week out how everything in tna is "pretty cool"

NEWS FLASH tna!!!!! your product is not in the realm of being "pretty cool" or even cool
glad tna and taz are burying themselves.

Anderson really does suck. I have a feeling even Kurt or AJ at their best would struggle to get even a 3 star match out of him.

OK, I've been busy the last few Thursday's so I've missed Impact. But I come back tonight and I get horribly overdone crowd noise piped in circa WCW Saturday Night 1994. I know they don't want their "cast members" to overrun the show, but are you fucking serious with this!!! It just screams bush league.

Not enough hogan, nasties, hall, xpac. Pretty lame show, this is the show i wasnt watching months ago.

I'll try again next week, which will be like 4 or 5 impacts in a row. If next weeks show is like this, im done.

I could have sworn Dixie said that Morgan and Hernandez would be pushed to the moon in 2010 and be the present and future of the company. So much for that, there in a makeshift tag team with clearly no plans to do anything with them in the near future.

To the people shitting on the main event, get a clue. Yes it was bad, but hilariously so, just like the Nasty Boys stuff. Impact is like WCW during the Russo period, it's an abomination of a wrestling show and will end in disaster but it's entertaining nontheless.

--------------------------------------

The Guns and Wolfe were both on the show last week.

Apart from that, though, are we going to have to see posts like this every week? News flash, folks - they don't have enough time to put every wrestler on the show every week.

Thought tonight's show was pretty poor. Enough of the heel/heel and face/face matches already. Still liked Anderson and the Pope, though.

This is correct it was blurred out because it said "Poison" on it. Rumors have it that Brett Michaels found out about it, and called TNA to ask for royalties. Unfortunately he was asking for a lifetime of Rogaine for compensation, and TNA didnt think they could afford it.

Ok so where do I begin...

"Where is (insert wrestler here)???"

In case you people don't realize, they tape multiple episodes of Impact each taping. Contrary to your fantasy world, it's not wise to have the same people go out and wrestle multiple 10-20 minute matches in a single day. Too easy to get injured and get the croud burnt out. Of course they could go have a 4 minute quick win each episode, which TNA used to do.

"OMG FUCKIG RUSSO AND YOUR FACE/FACE HEEL/HEEL matches!!!"

Um how many were there tonight? Tag title match and Womens title match? But let me guess, you were there to bitch for Flair vs HBK at Mania, Sheamus vs Orton, HBK vs Cena, HBK vs Taker, Hart Dynasty attacked Jericho, etc.

"Does anyone else find it incredibly stupid that Angle hits 5 rolling Germans and then goes right to the Anglelock for the submission? He works the back the whole match and then uses a leg submission. I swear psychology is GONE from wrestling...

Posted By: NWAJCP4ever (Guest) on February 04, 2010 at 11:16 PM"

The psychology is actually quite sound. The ankle lock is a devastating hold that can end a match at any time. Ankles are a weak joint. The key to getting the submission, though, is to weaken the other parts of the body (neck, back, etc.) that would aid the opponent in escaping the hold.

The wrestling "formula" is broken and until the next Goldberg or Austin or Rock comes along, it will continue to be this way.
There is nothing that anyone can do that makes this better. Nothing..
When the booking was Russo it was either so confusing or like late last year, just not drawing despite the fact that it was making sense.
WWE puts shite on the air and it gets over 3... hell I watch it on FFWD just to keep up and watch Santino.

The wrestling formula isn't working like it wasn't working in the mid 90's - problem is that they are trying to fix it with a lot of the guys who were there at that point.

I thought it was a really good show but the main event finish was pretty weak. The 8 Card Stud Qualifiers are working well, but Mick Foley jobbing to a big boot? And the women as always, bust it out like only they can. Hehe.

Everyone is starting to pull together as a team and they need to keep doing what they're doing. As far as the roster size goes, I do feel they need to start seriously considering a second show once they get the merchandising, live events, ad revenue and PPVs where they want them. Soooo probably not for awhile.

Posted By: The Weesel (Guest)  on February 05, 2010 at 01:02 AM

Again, way too much focus on non-wrestlers. It's not even oldsters, IT'S NON-WRESTLERS. I like Bischoff in his role, but Hogan is the main authority figure and is the one who people may actually tune in to watch. Bischoff needs to be kept to a minimum, and doesn't even need to be on the show every week.

Who cares if Mick Foley gets on board when he's barely even an active wrestler anymore. This is not going to go anywhere, because if it even culminates in a match, it will be a terrible match that's going to make people angty they bought the PPV.

Please get rid of Kevin Nash. He still can entertain in a manager role or something, but there are too many non-wrestlers as it is and he is embarrassing himself in the ring.

The show is such a jumble with things being changed and lost and dropped from week to week. It's a wrestling show, it's not supposed to be this hard to get.

Sting in the rafters: I assume that can be picked up again soon, so I'm not going to pick on that. But the Jay Lethal legend challenges, World Elite (mainly Young, Homicide and Kiyoshi), the Dudleys aligning with Neal and Rhino, Hardy disappearing, nothing to do for Daniels (who is fresh off two PPV main events). All stuff that has gone nowhere or was dropped out of nowhere.

Tara has a banging body, so don't censor her tits.

And face-face and heel-heel matches are okay as long as they're not the majority (heel-heel to a lesser extent). Brutus Magnus was a good choice for a TV opponent to feed Anderson. It's not like they're feuding.

I hope they just have the Nasty Boys be here for only a couple more months. I have a feeling Hogan will fire them after they prove they "can't cut it," to show us he's in TNA for the good of the company (at least storyline-wise).

So hopefully the win over Young was just to give them some momentum before being murdered at the PPV. After that job them out. If you have to keep them around, then keep jobbing them out.

So, yeah, I'm complaining, but it wasn't a terrible show all around. But you're going to make money because of the guys who are doing the wrestling, so why not build them up in place of a bunch of relics talking up up their boring power struggle?

Haven't gotten to the main event yet (watchin on the dvr) but this episode is pretty good. I don't see what everyone is complaining about.

Hernandez and morgan maybe in the tag division but they seem pretty dominant. I'd say their futures are still bright.

Ken anderson continues to be a great and I really hope he can stay healthy.

Taz said aj "isn't just livin the gimmick, he's LIVIN'" referring to all the "property aj is purchasing"

Pope is bonafied main event material after tonite

Joe looked great tonight (although he shoulda kept that shirt on) and jesse made him look like a million bucks. That's how u job. Joe running in on aj was a pretty good segment.

Bischoff is the best authority figure on tv today and I love interaction between him and foley. Those two cut great promos and have great chemistry. The history between them kinda makes it feel like a shoot but they don't keep it insider. They kinda exploit and explain it. I can tolerate the matches so long as their story stays at this level of great.

Same problem TNA has always had, they actually try to rotate different people on TV every week or every other week. it isntlike WWE where the same 4 or 5 guys monopolize every episode.

So yeah it might get alittle confusing, especially to the ADD kids who are used to seeing Cena, Orton, Hornswoggle and DX 99.999% of the TV time on RAW. Used to be 'only' 99.998, but they kicked Jericho off so the got his time now.

I dont think anyone really likes seeing X pac and Hall. But there is a planthere somewhere and we might see it unfold eventually. To what end I am not sure. I still think they are looking to split up the shows and have a Foly/Jarret contingent against a Hogan/Bischoff one. But they surely need two shows, too many guys are sort of getting lost in the shuffle. And since TNA doesnt have fatal 4 ways, or lumberjack matches or some other multi 'talent' gimmick to get more people on TV then they need more TV time.

Now, as far as the 'non
wrestling stuff, once again it looks like the WWE crowd running that garbage, which is ironic since their 135 minute show has just about 8 minutes of actual wrestling in it, and 80 minutes of commercials, and 50 minutes of rerunning stuff most people have seen a dozen times.

Taz did have the line of the night, call it a lame shot or whatever. But calling the USS Cole "vintage" was pretty funny. I mean when was the last time Cole or Lawler said something that actually made you smile let alone laugh?

But I would really like to see TNA get the homegrown talent alittle more consistantly involved. if they want to have the Nasty Boyz run around, fine, but have them taking on Lethal Consequence, Beer Money, or the Guns. Not this 3 D garbage, have them take on the team the Nastys don't. Then try and build up a fued with hernadez/DNA wit the left over. 3 fueds 6 teams. Now its one lame fud that is about 20 years ast due, and the TNA tag team champs just goofing around and playing the 'mutual respect' game.

There also isnt anything wrong with Xpac and Hall punking people, but have them punk people that matter, and not just everyone anytime they want. Foley really shouldnt be on TV for more than a minute or two here and there and sholdnt be wrestling. promote the younger guys. Wolfe, Pope, Berr Money, those guys with AJ Angle and maybe Daniels should be on every week, along with the bueatiful people of course. If you want to throw val venus and orlando jones in there, fine, they can be the second coming of Iron Mike Sharp and just punk ot every week, and maybe get a win over some local jobber once in awhile or at a house show here and there.

It could be better for sure. But am still giving them the benefit of the doubt for now.

TNA is so horrible. These matches were boring and predictable. The reviewer really was generous with his scores. AJ Vs Pope was not 4 stars. That was boring as hell. And adding Flair to the mix is horrible too. I guess Pope should have brought his grandpa too. And the Joe/Jobber match was boring as well. Some-More-Of-Joe is so fucking overrated it's mind boggling! Well alot of things about TNA are sucky and overrated. And all the WWE guys they bring in, just do the same shit; with the same sounding music (ala Team 3D: Look down, look down, look down? No more "Get up, get up, get up!"?) hey TNA how about creating your own story lines and characters. Ugh. TNA is just crap. Keep telling yourself that and I will laugh in your face when Raw celebrates 20 years on the air because that is what is going to happen.

Spoken like a true TNAsshole. I don't hate TNA, but I hate people like that. One of those who talk about WWE marks trolling a TNA page and then turn around and do the same thing to a WWE page. And for the record, Hornswoggle wasn't even on last week's Raw and this week, he was only on TV for like 20 seconds. And the fact that Raw was a pretty good show this week.

WWE's face/face, heel/heel matches are rare and make sense when they do happen. The likes of Cena v HBK and Taker v HBK were great matches and made a lot of money. If you can't see the difference between that and Russo's nonsensical booking style I really don't know what to say, his method actually reduces guys drawing power, yet he has still managed to stay employed in wrestling for the past decade even though none of his storylines in that time have drawn money.

Obviously Douche-Money is someone sits and reads the write-ups and doesn't even watch the programming. Did you even WATCH last week's show? I believe I saw most, if all, of the workers you mentioned.

Unfortunately TNA has a FUCKING HUGE ROSTER right now (which isn't necessarily a good thing) and not everyone can get on. For the naysayers...I'd say a good handful of TNA 'homegrowns' have been getting airtime. That would be Styles, Angle, Wolfe, etc.

Wow....you dumb bitches aren't going to be satisfied with anything. Why don't you go and increase the 44 fans who watch RoH (or the 22 who buy DragonGate's PPVs) if you're going to whine. And if you're not even watching the programs...shut the fuck up.

This shit makes me sick. Who wants to see the same people wrestle every week? it's obvious that TNA roster is stacked and everybody isn't going to be on every week.

Last week we saw Wolfe, and Daniels in the tournament, this week we got to see Anderson and Angle advance. The X-Division was on last week, this week it was Pope's time to shine.

And for the guy who said that they jobbed AJ to a guy who lost to Orlando Fucking Jordan in three minutes. #1 Pope was wrestling hurt and had about two weeks to recover before wrestling AJ. #2 It was a very competitive match and AJ didn't job. #3. Tune in next week to see a fresh injury free Pope go over Orlando Fucking Jordan in a return match for the 8 Card Stud Tournament.

This was an excellent show aside from the main event. It was full of wrestling for all of you who love to count match times, and I noticed that everyone who is bashing the show refuse to comment on the awesome match that was AJ vs Pope and the awesome Joe promo after the match. It's like it never happened huh? I guess all you saw was Hall and Waltman who were only on the show for all of 1 minute and 30 seconds. Fucking cum sucking slut bucket trolls. You people are fucking pathetic give credit where credit is due. And this is coming from a guy who enjoyed Raw this week and is looking forward to seeing Smackdown and the continuation of the Road to Wrestlemania.

You see trolls it is possible to be a fan of both companies. I'm a wrestling fan bitches fuck you all. While you argue over how WWE rulez and TNA droolz and how TNA is going to put Vince out of business (which is absurd), and continue to be virgins because wrestling is your entire life, I will continue to sit back as a WRESTLING FAN and enjoy both shows and continue to live in the real world and get laid. If I don't like it I simply won't watch it, not wait immediately until it goes off the air so that I can log on to 411mania and bash it.

It's fucking professional SCRIPTED wrestling people. Get a life. Enjoy it for what it is and then get out of the house and enjoy life because it's too short to spend every minute debating over who got the biggest pop or who botched the most moves or who's a spot monkey ect.

I hope the beatdown of AJ by Joe and losing to Pope cleanly. Just leads to AJ getting a stable, because he seriously needs a couple people other than Flair to watch his back, and to really help him come off more heelish.

i dont normally bash TNA, but is Eric B suppsoed to be a heel, while Hogan is a face, but both came in together to save TNA? i dont think Eric can play anyhting but the cocky smartass in power guy. and he sucks at it. plus that main event was almost the worst match i have ever seen. slow motion attacks and a kick. wow. it looked like neither guy actually wanted to hit the other. sad :(

"when did the tomko's of the world start kicking out of the angleslam"

This has been a major flaw of TNA from day one. I hate to agree with that parasite Dave Meltzer but he's right on here, Jobber Jordan can go over the Pope clean, who then goes on to beat the world champion a few weeks later and none of it has any impact at all because anyone can beat anyone, and not in a good "anything can happen" kind of way but in a way where it's impossible to create stars, TNA needs to build people up like WWE has done with Cena, Batista, Orton, even freaking Sheamus hasn't jobbed since getting the belt, people aren't going to pay to see a PPV with a bunch of mid level guys going against each other, TNA's numbers prove this.

"Jesse Neal is from the USS Cole. Iheard it's a vintage ship."

Line of the night from Tazz, nice little dig on his former partner there.

Tonight's show really just felt there. Hell/face lines are still pretty confusingly blurred. Speaking of blurred, what was up with Tara?

Please get Suxx-Pac and Hall off my screen already. They do aboslutely nothing for the product.

The Pope doesn't need Samoa Joe's fat ass sticking up for him. Forget Samoa Joe. They're pushing Pope the wrong way. They should push him the same way the WWE used to push The Rock or Stone Cold, a heel that the crowd loves and can't hate. Instead they're making him look weak and I heard Pope on the mic once, he wasn't half bad stupid TNA putting talent to waste.

I think the majority of you are over reacting.

You can't expect to have the entire roster on television every week and you can't expect the same guys to be on every week either. There has to be some type of rotation.

How are the old washed up guys dominating the show when you have a show balanced with Knockouts, Hernandez and Morgan going over a veteran tag team, a competitive match between Pope and AJ, Samoa Joe vs Jesse Neal, Samoa Joe and Pope chasing out AJ and Ric Flair, and Ken Anderson vs Brutus Magnus (who they mentioned was 23)...

Yes, we do have Hogan, Bischoff, Nash and those pesky Outsiders, but it was a pretty fair balance.

Idk what it is with you people, but you seriously need to chill. Last night's episode was pretty enjoyable outside of Foley vs Nash and to be honest I've seen worse main event segments/matches from impact, Raw, Smackdown, and ECW in the past.

If anyone actually follows what I say on here you already know how i feel about face vs face and heel vs heel. But to reiterate, i think you people spend way too much time and brainpower trying to label a guy as face or a heel when you really should just worry about the conflict between the competitors. Why do "smart" fans need everything spoon fed to them on a plate with their name on it. They need their faces here and the heels over there so that it's easy to digest. Like Russo is supposed to baby them and chop up their food for before they eat it. Grow up, use your head and realize that storytelling has evolved from your typical good guy vs bad guy scheme.

When I was young, A friend of mine was visiting and my girlfriend came over. She's my wife now, btw...anyhow, I kicked my buddy out so I could have sex with my gf. I forgot to put the shade down on my bedroom window. The friend forgot to tell me something, and he went around to knock on the window. Got quite an eyeful, and described my "hairy, sweaty ass" to everyone who would listen. I had to wonder why he was so mesmerized by it.

Whay are you staring at Joe's man-boobs?

By the way, it appears that extra adipose tissue in the breasts is a common genetic trait among Samoans, like the great height common to members of the Dinka tribe in Sudan. Google "Manute Bol" for more info om this.

Thank you. Drive through.

It did seem odd Joe is now suddenly a face again but his promo was awe-SOME. It set up the AAO match perfectly, had great lines, and was delivered with such anger it reminded me of Joe circa '07.

And any time Pope gets a big win, I like TNA a good amount more. I just hope Orlando Jordan and his bargain basement extensions stay the hell out of the Impact Zone.

"Where do I begin?

Face/face-heel/heel matches with zero build. TNA world champ losing clean leading to nowhere. Sloppy Joes showed up in his underwear. Title matches with no build. Main event with oldies that can barely move. Plus we got more Nasty Boyz!

Posted By: TruthSlayer (Guest) on February 04, 2010 at 11:10 PM"
-------------

While I agree with some of your later points the early ones actually do make sense show-wise.

The heel-heel, face-face matches are part of a "randomly" drawn tourney (The Crazy 8 tourney) so it makes sense of no build and face-face, heel-heel.

Pope winning is obviously to put The Pope on the same level with AJ and Joe for an upcoming feud, like WWE did with Shelton before his feud with HHH over HHH's belt a few years back.

While I agree with you on the Nasties and Foley-Nash the ratings tend to seem solid on thier segments usually so I can't fault TNA over it from a business perspective.

TNA is the best 3 ring circus going.
Don't worry about them beating the WWE, worry about them putting on a good show. Tonights show other than Pope and Styles sux.

Not sure if even the Mighty Hulk Hogan can save this crap.

Smackdown > ECW > Superstars > Raw > > ROH > TNA

Well I thought it was a decent show. Pope vs. AJ was very good. With the good comes bad too. Like Nastys in this feud with 3D. Nastys are older and fatter then their last run in the big leagues circa 1996. I was never impressed with them in WWF when they won the tag belts in 1991. Theyre just not a good team. All they can do is brawl. Now they cant even do that right. Thats bullshit Tara's tits were blurred out. Cmon this is TV-14 not TV PG like WWE. I'm really glad Angelina is back. I always viewed her as the best wrestler out of the Beautiful People. She's a natural at wrestling. Unlimited potential. Anderson is doing alright so far, just as long as he stays healthy which in the past he hasnt. Scott Hall is somebody that does not need to be in TNA. He can barely move. Plus its only a matter of time before he gets drunk and starts no-showing at shows. Syxx Pac I dont mind if they can keep. At least he can wrestle and hes under 40 unlike some of the trash they brought in like the Nastys. Kurt Angle vs Tomko was decent. Tomko looks kinda out of shape to me. Maybe from the long layoff he had. Joe vs AJ will be a decent PPV main event. Cant think of much else. Other than please get rid of the Nastys + Scott Hall.

To all who complain about face/heel turns... People booed AJ (Great pick with The Pope who is the fan favorite as of late) and cheered Joe. SO it worked ANYWAY.
nice impact overall.

If you liked this show you probably liked Raw too. They seem to have arguably good impacts every other week and then suck the next. They'll never get close in ratings that way or draw in more fans.

I agree that the Nasty old men, Hall and Waltman, Nash, Bishoff, Russo, the ramp to the ring, et al have to go...now.

I used the DVR to record the show, so I could skip whenever Bishoff appeared (although I did listen to a couple of segments, just to make sure they sucked as bad as I suspected).

The wrestling was pretty good...until the last match, which should never have happened, not ten years ago and certainly not now.

Joe's squash match was good, Angle's match was good, AJ and Dinero's match was good, even Tara and Angelina and the Mr. Anderson (Anderson) matches were not bad.

However, Nash should never be in a ring again (probably never should have been in the ring in the first place). One of the least talents and least compelling performers of all time. Foley can give it a go once or twice a year (but probably should not), but Nash is just awful. Always has been awful, always will be awful.

TNA has really gone to crap since Hogan has showed up. All these 60 year old guys in the leather jackets is pathetic.

They had to build that ramp to the ring because these guys are so old they can barely get into the ring without a ramp.
Hogan is juicing again but it looks like he has a hard time just walking to the ring.

I've apparently seen the unedited version of Tara vs Angelina match (is it just me or is Angelina looking hotter than before, or maybe I start to like her actually) because here breasts weren't blurred, the so called nipple slip, probably the right one but no big deal, didn't see anything.
