411's WWE Raw Report 03.08.10

The Undertaker shows up on Raw to have words for Shawn Michaels, Evan Bourne earns the final spot in Money in the Bank, Legacy gets the better of their mentor in a handicap match, and John Cena faces off with Vince McMahon and a cast of thousands
-We kick things off right away as promised with UNDERTAKER'S DONG! Taker says last week was symbolic of what Shawn Michaels life has became number 17 in the streak. Shawn Michaels life has now got a dark cloud that hovers above him unable to be shaken. He says Shawn's obsession with ridding himself of this cloud with cause him to pay the ultimate price. After Wrestlemania there will be no tomorrows, there will be celebrations, there will be no sense of triumph. For Shawn there will be no victory, but only that same dark cloud that will hover above his head for the rest of his life. It brings Taker no joy in saying this, but the fact is in three weeks Shawn Michaels's career will rest in…Shawn has heard enough and interrupts before he can finish. Shawn says not tonight. Taker doesn't get to finish his line because he hasn't earned that right. Shawn says for the last year it has hung over his head like a dark cloud. Last week he went to bed full of anger and rage, but he woke up and the cloud was gone. Shawn had an epiphany. The reason he cost Taker the title in the chamber was because he had no choice. He had to do it. He said Taker didn't have to interfere in his match last week though, and that's when it occurred to him. Inside the cold black heart of The Undertaker exists fear. Undertaker says if he were Shawn he would choose his next words very carefully. Shawn repeats himself saying fear, and says Taker is the only one who knows how close he came to ending it all for him next year. He says that's why Taker wanted him to put his career up, because he thought he could intimidate him. Shawn says this has been his life for the last 25 years, and says he wouldn't have put it all on the line if he didn't know he can beat him. He says no one can live a perfect life, and nothing lasts forever. At Wrestlemania he's going to prove it. Taker says he can't tell if he's looking at a man who exudes confidence, or if he's looking at a man full of pitiful desperation. Shawn says he's not desparate. Last year he would have taken anything. A count out or disqualification. Anything to have his hand raised in victory, but not this year. He wants this year to be a no count out no disqualification match, and there must be a winner. He says this year he's going to kick Taker's teeth down his throat, and he's going to beat him. Taker agrees to that stipulation, and says Shawn has chosen his own demise. Taker says he can look in Shawn's eyes and can see the fire, passion, and will. He can look into his soul and see that Shawn honestly thinks he can beat him at Wrestlemania. Taker says that's what makes Shawn the showstopper, the main eventer, Mr. Wrestlemania. Taker says not this year. He says in his opinion Shawn may be the greatest to ever step foot in the ring, but on March 28th he's going to open the gates of hell and unleash a fury that no mortal man has ever seen to make sure that at Wrestlemania his career is over. Shawn tells Taker to keep telling himself that, because after Wrestlemania that dark cloud is going to come back. This time though its going to be hanging over Taker, and its going to follow him everywhere he goes. Inside that cloud is an image that will haunt him the rest of his life. That image will be Shawn Michaels ending the streak. Well that takes out the possibility of a draw or any other silly theories people have put forth. Great promo to kick things off.
Six Diva Tag Team Match: Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim, & Eve Torres vs. Alicia Fox, Katie Lea Burchill, & Maryse
Interesting that Katie Lea is still introduced with the last name Burchill despite Paul being released. Gail starts things off with Alicia and takes her over with a side headlock. Gail ends up on the apron, and drops down on the neck of Fox taking them to the floor. Gail catches her with a back elbow, and drops Katie off the apron with a clothesline. Fox hits a boot for two, and drives Alicia into the boot of Maryse before making the tag. Maryse delivers a backbreaker for two, and knocks Kelly from the apron. Gail smacks Maryse and makes the tag to Eve who is in with a pair of dropkicks for two. Maryse comes back with a forearm, but a backdrop attempt is stopped by Eve with a boot. Eve hits her somersault plauncha for two, and now everyone is in. The face divas chase the heels outside leaving just Eve and Maryse. Eve ends up on the top rope where she flips Maryse into a cross armbreaker for the submission at 2:57. Typical diva trainwreck, as it appears Eve is the next chosen one in the roulette wheel of diva challengers. Winner: Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim, & Eve Torres (Eve submits Maryse-Cross Armbreaker ¼*)
-Hornswoggle is with Criss Angel, and he is joined by the Bella Twins. They are big fans, and want to be his guest assistants for the night. He doesn't use twins though, so they're out. They ask to at least see a demonstration. He pulls a thread off one of their suits, and puts it in his mouth and pulls it out his eye. Jillian stops by, and the punchline is the same as it always is. She's a terrible singer, and Criss makes her voice disappear. His best trick ever.
The Miz & The Big Show vs. John Morrison & R-Truth
Miz says last week on Smackdown R-Truth and John Morrison earned the right to face ShoMiz for the titles at Wrestlemania XXVI. Miz says not since Lex Luger and The British Bulldog joined forces to bore millions at Wrestlemania XI have a tag team with less credibility appeared at Wrestlemania. He says they'd rather face The Bushwhackers since they are a real team, and says shame on the locker room for not being able to come to their level. Miz says they are the last truly great tag team in the WWE. Not sure what the point is in having this match now, but whatever. Truth starts with Miz and Morrison quickly knocks Show off the apron with a baseball slide. A double clothesline sends Miz to the floor and they both take him out with a double baseball slide. Show attacks them on the floor and the ref throws the whole thing out at 0:38. Morrison and Truth are able to leave ShoMiz laying on the floor and sending Miz into the crowd. Morrison says they just showed how real they can get, and Truth says that's what's up. Not sure why they bothered with making this a "match" as this could have been accomplished just as easy in a promo. Winner: No Contest
-John Cena joins Josh Mathews and he says what Batista said last week was completely correct. He hasn't beat him. He says Batista has his number, but the only thing he can do now is go out there and beat him. Josh asks if Cena anticipates Batista getting involved in his match with Vince tonight. Cena says he's counting on it.
-Criss Angel is joined by Evan Bourne who is excited to face William Regal for the final spot in Money in the Bank. Regal stops by with Skip Sheffield who wants to see one of Angel's tricks. Angel has Regal write a number on a tablet and he'll guess it. Skip thinks Regal has a good number, but Angel guesses it anyway. Sheffield tells "Coach Regal" he now owes him a Travis Tritt CD.
2 on 1 Handicap Match: Legacy vs. Randy Orton
Orton attacks Legacy during their entrance, and slides into the ring to wait for them. We go to commercial before the match can begin. The bell rings as we return from break and Cody Rhodes will start the match. Cody pushes Orton into the corner and gets the better of the exchange early with a series of boots. Orton turns it around and sends Rhodes into the ropes delivering a back elbow. Rhodes retreats to the corner where he tags in Dibiase. Dibiase attacks with a boot and a series of right hands. Orton comes back with a clothesline, and Dibaise retreats again to the corner. Cody tags back in and Orton again goes on offense firing Cody into the corner. Cody is able to get a right hand in, and Dibiase delivers a shot from the apron. Rhodes distracts the ref long enough for Dibiase to do some choking from the floor, and after a straight right hand Cody's cover gets two. Orton comes back to backdrop a charging Rhodes to the floor, and as Dibiase tries to attack from behind Orton turns around. DIbiase bails to the floor as well and we head to break once more. Back from break with Orton still in control whipping Cody to the corner and delivering a clothesline. Cody comes back with a jawbreaker and he dumps Orton to the floor. Orton delivers a shot to Dibiase on the floor, but Ted comes back to drop Orton on the apron and deliver a dropkick. Cody goes outside to join him and he fires Orton into the ringsteps before firing him back inside. Cody drops a knee across the forehead of Orton, and tags in Dibaise. Dibiase locks in a rear chinlock, but Orton elbows his way free. Dibiase delivers the rebound clothesline for two, and fires Orton into the corner. Rhodes tags in and delivers a standing dropkick for two. Rhodes hits an elbow to the forehead, and a boot to the face. Rhodes connects with a kick to the ribs, and tags Dibiase back in as they fire Orton into the buckle. Dibiase chokes out Orton with the boot, and makes another quick tag to Cody. Cody tags Dibaise back in, but they're attempted double team fails as Orton delivers a clothesline to Ted. Orton hits powerslams on both men sending Cody to the floor, and he follows with an inverted backbreaker on Ted. Orton sets up for the RKO, but Cody comes in to stop him. Orton kicks Cody to the floor, but that distraction allows Dibiase to attack from behind with Dream Street to pick up the victory at 11:48. After the match Cody delivers his finisher to Orton as well, and they both stand over Orton mocking his trademark pose. Still not exactly sure how the inevitable Wrestlemania match featuring these guys will go. A partner for Orton maybe? Winners: Legacy (Dibiase pins Orton-Dream Street **)
-Mathews catches up with Batista who says Cena is just paranoid, and the match with him and Vince has nothing to do with him. He gives us his word as WWE Champion that he will not get involved in his match tonight, but if we see John he wants to tell him good luck as it looks like he needs a confidence boost.
-Stone Cold Steve Austin is your guest host next week.
-Triple H is out to address the attack at the hands of Sheamus last week. Triple H says he actually kind of respects what Sheamus did last week. He says if some guy had pinned him, and cost him his WWE Title while giving him a concussion and humiliating him he'd want to make a statement too. Sheamus wastes no time coming out to interrupt. Sheamus says he'll make a statement of Triple H at Wrestlemania, but the question is does Triple H have the guts. Trips says that's a good question, and says Sheamus has had a hell of a first year. He says Sheamus might have had the best first year in the history of the business (Brock says hi, Trips). HHH says he's never been to the big dance though, and until he makes a name for himself at Wrestlemania he hasn't done a thing. He says HHH was in the same place Sheamus was in a long time ago, and he was undefeated and was ready to pick a fight with the biggest guy at Wrestlemania. He says he got crushed, and he got knocked down and had to fight all the way back up. He says he then became the guy. The guy who everyone tried to make their name off of. He says a few succeeded. John Cena and Batista namely, but that's the short list. He says the much longer list is the guys who failed, and says Sheamus has one shot at being immortal or being nothing. He says it's a lot to think about, and before Sheamus thinks of taking the gamble he better be sure. Sheamus steps back, but goes for a cheap shot that HHH sees coming. Trips gets the better end of the exchange and clotheslines Sheamus to the floor. Sheamus comes back to pull trips out with him. Sheamus goes for the pump kick, but misses and HHH clotheslines him into the timekeepers station. The brawl continues on the floor with Sheamus firing HHH into the announce table and then back into the ring where HHH meets him with a spinebuster. Sheamus takes off then, but the match is now official.
-Santino stops by to see Criss Angel. He's from a long line of Italian heroes like Ralph Macchio and Harry Houdini. Angel tells him that Houdini was actually Hungarian, but Santino thinks it's a liberal media conspiracy. Angel then does a magic trick, as millions change to Spike TV.
Money in the Bank Qualifying Match: Evan Bourne vs. William Regal (w. Skip Sheffield)
Christian is out with his NXT Rookie Heath Slater for commentary as we decide the final spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match. Regal attacks early with a series of European uppercuts, and hammers Bourne down in the corner. Bourne comes back with a series of kicks, but hits the ropes running into a forearm. Regal connects with a back elbow, and delivers a double underhook suplex for two. Regal hits an exploder suplex, and sets up for the knee trembler. Bourne comes up and catches him with a knee to the face, and that allows him to hit Air Bourne for the pin at 1:27. I love Regal, but I'm definitely much happier to see Bourne in that match. Winner: Evan Bourne (Pinfall-Air Bourne *)
-Next week is Wrestlemania Rewind Night. John Cena vs. The Big Show, Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho, & Triple H vs. Randy Orton. All of that plus Vince and Bret's official contract signing presided over by Stone Cold Steve Austin.
John Cena vs. Mr. McMahon & Friends
Criss Angel is the guest ring announcer for this one which is the most signifigant thing he's done on the program thus far. Vince tells Bret that he knows he's up in Calgary watching, and also says that with apologies to the guest host Criss Angel this won't be an illusion. This is now a handicap gauntlet match. Vince's first partner is Vladimir Kozlov. Kozlov runs out and delivers a powerslam before connecting with a series of headbutts to the chest. Kozlov hits the Iron Curtain, and tags in Vince. He covers for a two count, and calls out his next partner which is Drew McIntyre. McIntrye delivers his finisher and McMahon tags in again covering for a two count. Vince calls out his next partner which is Jack Swagger which sends us to break. We return with Cena now in control calling for the five knuckle shuffle on Swagger which connects. Swagger counters the Attitude Adjustment attempt, and fires Cena into the corner. Swagger connects with a running powerslam, and hits a Vader Bomb. A second Vader Bomb connects, and Vince tags in. Vince covers for another two count, and calls for his next partner Mark Henry. Henry looks at Cena, and looks at Vince somewhat conflicted before connecting with the World's Strongest Slam. Vince tags in again and gets yet another two count. Vince is frustrated, and goes outside to get the ring bell. Vince announces that this is now a no disqualification handicap match. Henry tries to reason with Vince not to do it, so Vince gives Mark the bell and tells him to do it instead. Henry will have none of that and throws the bell out. Batista runs out and spears Henry before kicking him to the floor. Kofi Kingston runs out to the aid of Cena hammering Batista to the corner and hopping to the top rope for a series of punches. All that earns him is a Batista Bomb sending him back to the floor. Cena then fights back on Batista with a series of punches and a clothesline. Cena turns his attention to Vince who still holds the bell before dropping it. Vince begs but Cena will hear none of it picking him up for the Attitude Adjustment. Batista makes the save with a spear, and connects with a Batista Bomb. That finally is enough for Vince to pick up the pin at 11:21. Dave stands over a fallen Cena and asks for the spotlight as he stands tall. More angle than match, but what did you expect? Good finish. Winner: Mr. McMahon & Friends (Vince pins Cena-Batista Bomb **1/2)
Sorry TNA rubes, but it's over before it even started. TNA can't load a show every week with surprises and new wrestlers.
Vince ignored them and put on a normal RAW and it will crush Impact in the ratings. And next week it gets worse.
TNA will be back on Thursday soon.

HHH will cost HBK his career

I beat Sting in a matter of seconds with a transitional move.
Posted By: RVD (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:13 PM
No one. Both shows stunk. At least Raw wasn't facepalm worthy.
Posted By: And your winner tonight is? (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:14 PM
While Raw was nothing special tonight, TNA was a complete bag of shit.
Posted By: The Anvil (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:15 PM
Okay, so let's see...
Paul Roma, Vintage Cole Slaw, RVD One Shot Deal, Hornswaggle, WCW StingHoganBischoff Nasty Boys, Diva Train Wreck, MindFreak, and Kofi Johnson Got Salami'd @ SummerFest.
Good night everybody!!!
Posted By: The Monday Review (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:16 PM
TNA was way better. I hardly watched RAW at all.
Jeff Hardy returns. RVD vs Sting.
That X division match was gold as well.

"Vince and Bret's official contract signing presided over by Stone Cold Steve Austin."
OMFG! AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!

Look you WWE marks, TNA had a better (wacky) show than WWE, yes Raw will win the ratings no doubt, but I was bored the fuck out by Raw, I watched Impact for the car crash guilty pleasure fun and thats what I got, a fun wacky show, deal with it.
Posted By: Crush Crawfish (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:24 PM
I was disappointed that Cena didn't sell the beating he'd just gone through before finally falling to Batista. How hard is it to look like you just got beat up?
Posted By: Whatever (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:24 PM
Did anyone else hear them tell Batista to raise his arms at the end of the show.
Posted By: rodzilla (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:24 PM
This RAW blew balls. For one thing, they promised they would "blow my mind" with Kriss Angel. So they lied about that.
Epic fail but at least Stone Cold is hosting next week woot

I know the ratings give wwe the win but so far it looks like tna is winning 1-0

Dumb ending same ending I have seen for the last 2 months Cena gets the snot kicked oout of him again , Nobody wwnts to see that every week Vince and especially not you always out there screwing people it's gettin old Vince

Who wants to bet Kofi is punished by being put in a handicap match against the Legacy next week, which will lead to a Kofi/Randy vs Legacy tag match at 'Mania. That could be a cool angle if it's done right.
I noticed Cody did the Alabam Slam last week and he did that rope-hanging mid-section kick this week, apparently his old tag partner Bob Holly really made an impact on him (not to mention that dropkick that all those Legacy guys are so crazy about). If the above mentioned angle doesn't go through as predicted, maybe they'll bring in Hardcore to be Randy's backup.
Criss Angel's magic was stupid. There's no reason any of those tricks (besides the eye dental floss) couldn't have been planned ahead of time. I'm not saying they were, but there's no evidence to eliminate that possibility, which is crucial to heighten the illusion.
That was actually a good way to not bury anyone in the gauntlet match. It made the participants finishers look weak, but at least Cena didn't get up and FU or STFU each guy immediately afterward. The effect was more about Cena's resiliency than his opponents incompetence.
I absolutely hate how they treated the Money in the Bank matches on Raw. Those matches were highlights on Smackdown and they've just been treated as nuisances on Raw. It's just pitiful that the total combined amount of time spent on Raw qualifiers was less than 10 minutes. If they aren't even willing to give their guys TV time, why should we buy that they're eligible for a title shot.
Undertaker should stop talking. His promos are just stupid. That black cloud nonsense that he kept babbling quickly lost it's menace through repetition. He's managed to make me want Shawn to win even though I don't want the streak to end.
Hunter's promo wasn't bad at all, except I can't think of a single guy he's beaten and "sent back to the bottom where he'd have to claw his way back up" at Wrestlemania. Was he talking about Dustin at Wrestlemania XIII? Owen? Jericho? Those guys all seemed okay afterward. I think he's exaggerating his 'Mania legacy a bit.

Rather boring show the only thing I actually enjoyed was HHH's promo. He really sold the importance of beating him beautifully.. including a Warrior squash reference.
Posted By: Andrew Barbarash (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:34 PM
hmm cena sold no finishers except batistas.im guessing benjamin is finally going to win money in the bank cause i doubt theyll let christian

Terrible show. The few matches that were somewhat decent were over way too fast. TNA also sucked, but they had some interesting moments and a great X-Division match.
RAW: 2.0 (out of 10)
TNA: 3.0 (out of 10)

is this pg wwe ever gonna end?
I've got a feeling its about to end real soon. Its already half-way there with Raw becoming a little bit more serious but that might be just b/c of Wrestlemania.
TNA is going to be pushing them and I think they will have no choice but to do it.
Kids watch wrestling b/c its violent so I never understood the reason why the WWE wanted to go in this direction. Most parents have become less strict with their kids over the last 20 years especially with their viewing habits so just go back to TV14 and give viewers a reason not to ever turn to TNA.
The system the WWE had before was a lot better when they made Smackdown their PG show and Raw their adults show. They should've kept that system alive and well.
The ball is the WWE's hand right now if they let TNA catch up with them in a couple of years then I smell trouble b/c TNA will ultimately destroy them. The WWE could put an end to this war very early instead of late.

"Well that takes out the possibility of a draw or any other silly theories people have put forth."
But surely IWC wisdom cannot be questioned! Along with how only a young guy should end the streak and how it's 'obvious' that Triple H will interfere in the Taker/HBK match.
Posted By: DragonDragon (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:41 PM
Head to head, I honestly tuned into TNA more, if just for the unpredictability more than anything.
Most of RAW felt like highlight packages for things I've already seen. Plus some hokey stuff.
Posted By: Guest#8055 (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:52 PM
"Still not exactly sure how the inevitable Wrestlemania match featuring these guys will go. A partner for Orton maybe?"
Well, slap me, I didn't think of that already.
Meet Kofi's WM-role.

I'm just glad I don't have to sit through RAW anymore. I'd rather watch re-runs of my dog taking a shit on my neighbor's lawn!!
At least TNA was something different than the last eight years of RAW. Which was what Vince squirted all over the screen once again tonight. It was like a regurgitation of the last 7-8 years of mediocrity that Vince has coined the term "Entertainment" for.
Posted By: DHX (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 12:04 AM
Criss Angel was awful...I mean the worst host ever. But, this was not an awful show. Good build to WM for all of the RAW matches.
Posted By: Guest#3832 (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 12:04 AM
Big Dave continues to shine as a heel. The heat he was drawing at the end was tremendous, just by raising his arms and smirking like a prick. He's even managed to get Cena back to almost 100% positive crowd reactions, I haven't heard a single boo for him since this angle started.
Posted By: Guest#0808 (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 12:04 AM
RAW was VASTLY SUPERIOR to TNA IMO
No BS booking and washed up has beens coming back to get squashed by a pot head with one of his standard moves (each time I think bischoff and russo are doing some wrong they manage to make another bigger crap to surpass this failure).
Mania 26 is shaping pretty well and will deliver big time March 28.
Warrior is obviously the big coup of VInce for the HOF and should lead to some surreal moment for sure.
Bourne was the right choice for the last MITB Spot and now the match is complete with young and talented guys who can work a match of this caliber and stealing the show march 28.
WWE >>>> TNA
RAW >>>> IMPACT
3,6 >>>> 1,1
Next week will be even better with AUSTIN destroying TNA all by himself IMO !
Posted By: Epic Win for Vince And RAW (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 12:05 AM
Both shows weren't that great. The key difference:
Raw is building towards WM.
Impact is building towards next week.
If WWE were to really panic, they could do a few things: erase the brand split, make the second hour of Raw non-PG, or (gasp) push the young guys.

That statement really speaks more about your own personal perversion than the quality of WWE programming.

if wwe got warrior for the hof, they should emphasize the fact that he beat hogan clean at mania 6, 20 years ago. stress the fact that hogan is a washed up has been who has to bleed just to get idiots to care about his washed up , decripid ass.

"is this pg wwe ever gonna end?"
Not while Linda is running for Senate it won't. You think she would let Vince go back to having old women giving birth to hands, or implied necrophilia while she is running for office?
WWE fans forget all the horse manure that Vince has force fed wrestling fans for the last 7-8 years.
I gave RAW a chance, for the last eight years. If something new is on, I'll be watching that.
You'd have to be a complete moron to forgive the shit that McMahon has done.
Posted By: DHX (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 12:12 AM
I don't care how many stars from the 90's where featured on Impact, just like Jan 4, Raw again had the better wrestling show tonight with bigger and better built angles.
Undertaker and Shawn together in any promo, match or whatever is just gold. These guys will tear the house down again in Phoenix.
The Batista-Cena angle is just money, they've built it perfectly. I hope they don't piss away all the great work they've done by having Cena get the better of him the final week before WM. Let Batista continue to get the upper hand the next 2 shows, then Cena finally one ups him at the big show.
Posted By: Guest#0073 (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 12:15 AM
I'm not thrilled with the Jericho-Edge stuff on Smackdown, but the Raw build to Wrestlemania has been the best it's been in years, probably since the year of HHH-Batista.
I wouldn't be surprised if Cena v Batista and Undertaker v HBK drive this years show to a new record PPV buys number.

Yes, TNA was better this week, but does that mean TNA put on a good show? No! BOTH shows sucked.
Posted By: Guest#1007 (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 12:23 AM
Raw was the better show tonight in my opinion, they continue to build very nicely towards Wrestlemania.
TNA was all over the place, and not in a good way. The sight of Hogan and Flair bleeding heavily at 60 years of age in a small building where people don't even pay to get in was just sad, considering the highs these men have had in their careers.
Posted By: Guest#5247 (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 12:31 AM
I'm a WWE fan and was flipping back and forth like the old days but everytime I turned RAW, I would flip right back to Impact. Raw needs to stop the corny Hornswaggle and Santino sketches and the guest host angle. Impact was way better tonight although it was far from great. TNA's heading in the right direction. I'm looking forward to next week.

Eve isn't really a random diva challenger, they've actually been trying to push her for a while, just that nobody cares. She wins almost all her matches and normally gets more TV time than all the other woman with guest host shenanigans/valeting for Masters. If she had a lick of charisma she just might get over, she's certainly got a look that WWE likes.

Good show.
The opening segment between Undertaker and Shawn gave me goosebumps. I fail to see how anybody could not be sold on their rematch at this point. Just stellar mic work by Shawn, and great interactions by Taker.
The tag team match that never was did it's job in establishing Truth and Morrison as a credible threat to the Unified Tag Team Champions. The challengers worked as a cohesive unit and decisively laid out the champions. In a matter of just a few weeks these two have gone from being two languishing midcarders randomly paired together to being believable title contenders.
Randy Orton vs Legacy was pretty much your average handicap match. Nothing great, but not offensive either. Meanwhile, if WWE goes back to booking Orton against babyfaces after Wrestlemania they'll be making a huge mistake in not capitalizing off the momentum he's gained with the fans. Not since Steve Austin have WWE been handed such an excellent anti-hero to push to the top of the card. Speaking of the card, it concerns me that nothing solid is booked for Wrestlemania out of this angle with only two episodes of Raw remaining before the show. We've seen Orton vs Dibiase, and that we've seen Orton take on both of them it would be anti-climactic to simply rematch it or have him face Rhodes.
For that matter, what the hell is Kofi doing at Wrestlemania?
Great interaction between Sheamus and Triple H that has me more optimistic about their Wrestlemania match. I liked Hunter acknowledging that is was a (kayfabe) mistake to challenge Warrior at Wrestlemania XII. I liked it so much that I'll forgive the bit of revisionist history about those who lost to him at Wrestlemania fading into obscurity. For the record, the following have lost to Triple H at Wrestlemania:
Goldust (fair enough)
Owen Hart
The Rock
Big Show
Mick Foley
Chris Jericho
Booker T
Randy Orton
The final MitB qualifier was short and sweet. Seemed to be there pretty much just to get it out of the way. Happy to see Bourne added to the mix, though. By the way, am I alone in feeling that Regal and Sheffield make a great straight man/bumbling idiot combo?
I could have done without the women's match. Or the main event. Or anything having to do with Criss Angel. But none of those segments were bad enough to drag this show down into mediocrity. Just boring enough to keep it from being great.

Raw was an improvement on last weeks show. Next week should be huge though, can't wait for that Austin/Bret/Vince segment.

all you marks can cry and complain all you want... but the fact of the matter is tnas show was far better....
it had better matches....and more exciting moments....
raw was the same stale show it has been since the 1st week after last years wrestlemania......even smackdown destroys raw....
raw = garbage
your all just jelous tna took your jeff hardy away and also signed RVD.......
hell even NXT is better than raw....
the only show raw beats is superstars..
which is a lame show with raw wrestlers and taped during raw.....

Posted By: Schmidty (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:34 PM
HHH said that HE got beaten by a top guy (Warrior at WM12) and had to claw his way back up not the other way around.

Do you need further translation fucktard? Or should I try simple math with you?

Head to head, I honestly tuned into TNA more, if just for the unpredictability more than anything.
Most of RAW felt like highlight packages for things I've already seen. Plus some hokey stuff.
Posted By: Guest#8055 (Guest) on March 08, 2010 at 11:52 PM
Right on. Raw was like the show the week before wrestlemania, not 3 weeks before. Enough with the recaps

No - Benoit didn't "skyrocket" to greatness after beating HHH, he languished as a crappy champion defending against the likes of Kane in the mid-card. Benoit was a nobody, a charisma-free psychopath, fuck Benoit.

You, sir, win. I damn near spit orange juice on my screen after reading that. Alson, anybody think King and Cole Slaw are in deep shit with McMahon? Di you hear what they said during Orton's match? They refered to the people in attendance as FANS!! NOT the WWE Universe! OH NOZ!!! What next? Will wrestlers be calle WRESTLERS? Oh, the humanity. I can only hope that Cole is fired over this. That alone will make RAW better by a factor of 100.

I love the fact all the TNA marks that only supposedly watched TNA last night all gave there opinion of Raw last night and decided to tell us all how bad it sucked. Were you not watching WCW last night? I even flipped a few times just to see how TNA was going to go.. Wow all over the place and nothing different. Can the TNA fans actually say it was superior since it looked like a train wreck?

Yep. But only in a complete train wreck sort of way. There's no way in hell they can keep that up every week.. I'm doubtful they can even keep it up 2 weeks in a row.
"your all just jelous tna took your jeff hardy away and also signed RVD......."
Whoa, please stop watching pro wrestling and start studying English grammar and spelling. I'm serious.

Simple fact, both shows need work. WWE continued their storylines as did TNA, which is odd how everyone complains about storylines over actual wrestling when TNA has been storyline driven for damn near a month now. If it wasn't for the X division or Knockout match would have swore this was a reboot of Thunder in Paradise(didn't Sting play the heel on that show too)
This first battle of channel flipping left little to watch outside of the openning segments and the ending segments.
Undertaker/Micheals is just furthering the fact that this match will have to end the show. And or your two world title matches at Mania will have to be very damn good and nothing against Edge/Jericho or Cena/Batista I can't see that happening.
Posted By: Guest#9039 (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 09:16 AM
who here thinks Cena will of course win at WM because its for the kiddies raise your hand, see everyone raised their hands. The build up for that match is okay but I already know he will win.
Posted By: Guest#5369 (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 09:22 AM
God the comments annoy me.
Anyway. Good show tonight. Simple build to Mania is always a good thing.
I like the Orton/Legacy storyline and can't wait to see where it'll end up at Mania.
Once again SmackDown shows why its better then Raw. the Qualifying matces on Smackdown are longer and better. Another 1 minute match for a big Mania match? Come the fuck on.
Once again however, HBK/Taker best part of the show. I can't wait for this match. I also like the Cena/Batista build too. Batista as a heel is awesome stuff

Gee, I wonder if Warrior is going in to the hall of fame? The guy isn't acknowledged for 14 years, now he's in the opening montage, and HHH actually mentions THAT match on TV.
And yet some of you will still act shocked when it's announced in two weeks.
Posted By: Mr. Obvious (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 12:11 PM
Damn you WWE nuthuggers will watch anything. I'm pretty sure WWE has a show devoted to grass growing by now.
No wait that's just the moss growing on Undertaker's north side on his journey to the ring.
Posted By: Guest#7829 (Guest) on March 09, 2010 at 01:05 PM
WWE fans forget all the horse manure that Vince has force fed wrestling fans for the last 7-8 years.
I gave RAW a chance, for the last eight years. If something new is on, I'll be watching that.
You'd have to be a complete moron to forgive the shit that McMahon has done.

You didn't watch it, yet you're on the Raw message board almost immediately afterward furiously upset about how bad a show it was (though you didn't see it)? I don't buy it. Clearly you watch Raw and have some sort of shit fetish (just look at how many references you feel the need to make to excrement). Don't get all pissed at us because we touched a nerve, try coming to terms with your kink. Leaves the animals out of it though; remember, barking isn't consenting.

Yeah, but then he turned it around and said he'd sent other guys "clawing back to obscurity" once he'd established himself, which seems like a stretch. It did take a while for Jericho and Booker T. to get back into contention, but they were still very visible faces on the program after their defeats.
Nonetheless, that was a pretty good incorporation of history (revisionist though it may have been) to add substance to the Hunter/Sheamus angle. Now there's actually a good story beneath their instafeud: Sheamus wants to make a name for himself at Wrestlemania and Triple H can recognize his hunger. It's actually a lot like Triple H/Undertaker at Wrestlemania XVII.

Haha gotta love how all the TNA marks call WWE "kiddie stuff" and their comments appear to have been written by an 8 year old. No I take that back, my 8 year old could write more coherently. And if you think Hogan & Flair waddling around the ring is entertaining or Abyss & his magic ring, then fine. Myself, I'll take the whole build to Wrestlemania over that minor league action. And I am also a grown man with a job, a house & kids. Sorry if I'm not as sophisticated as some dateless wrestling nerds living in Mama's basement. Oh & complaints about WWE being PG? Well so would be the NFL, the NBA, & MLB. I enjoy taking my kids to see Raw, just as I would taking them to sporting events. Of course you'll never have that thrill because to have kids, you must first have a date.

I'm glad it looks like they're keeping Cody and Ted together. I don't think either has benefited from their partnership enough to go solo yet. I'd like to see them get a run as an actual tag team rather than just a pair of lackeys. After 'Mania they should get a strong run with the Unified Tag Titles. Now that those titles provide so much visibility, I think they're what The Legacy really needs to gain elevation from their team. Also, I really wish they would start using a tag finisher. It seemed like a big double-team move was missing from the beat down on Randy.

Criss Angel was one of the worst and most boring hosts ever. F'n magic tricks? An ILLUSIONIST? Are you kidding? I know WWE is going for the kiddies now but seriously?
Decent interview to open the show. The promos were okay and the matches pushed the PPV. That diva's match was terrible and while Eve is improving, we know it's just a revolving door with all them at this point.
