411's WWE Smackdown Report 06.04.10
Posted by Steve Cook on 06.04.2010

Hi, hello & welcome to 411's WWE Smackdown Report! Steve Cook here, and tonight we've got an Intercontinental title match as Drew McIntyre will be seeking to reclaim the strap from Kofi Kingston. I've also heard some rumblings about events involving the Undertaker over the past seven days, so let's go ahead and get it started!

I'm not sure Kaval knows what to make of one-half of his WWE Pro team, the lovely Layla.

We open with Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long. He informs us that over the Memorial Day Weekend, the Undertaker was found by his brother Kane in a vegetative state. There is an ongoing investigation looking into who or what was responsible for this brutal, heinous attack.

LET IT ROLL! Todd Grisham & Matt Striker are your hosts of this week's episode of Smackdown, taking place in Dallas, Texas! They've seen some wrestling there. Tonight, we see an Intercontinental Title match between Kofi Kingston & Drew McIntyre!

Opening Promo

Druids make their way to ringside with a casket and ominous chanting music. If Taker's only vegetative, isn't it a bit soon to put him in a casket? Who knows, he's the Undertaker. Kane makes his entrance through hellfire & brimstone, and does not look to be in a good mood. Then again, when does he ever? He tells the druids to open the coffin. Nothing inside. Kane tells us that in all likelihood, the most feared, dreaded and respected force in the history of WWE, the Undertaker, his brother, will no longer walk amongst us. Gone are the endless nights where the Taker would strike fear into those in his presence. Gone is the face of darkness, his brilliance extinguished by an act of cowardice. Gone is the specter that was beloved and admired by millions of creatures around the world. Gone from the WWE is its most iconic figure. And gone forever are the bonds of brotherhood. His brother will rise from the dead no more. Gone is the Undertaker! But soon enough, those responsible for this atrocity will too be gone. They will be committed to the depths of hell, to a torturous existence that they can not fathom. He will personally prosecute and persecute anyone who had anything to do with this tragedy! There will be vengeance! There will be vengeance cold, cunning, cruel, vengeance never before seen, felt or imagined. There will be vengeance! Yeah, he's not happy. He does the Undertaker pose and starts crying. He should have been there! He looks into the casket and cries as we go to commercial.

As ridiculous as this whole "vegetative state" business is, Kane's promo was pretty damn good and made you want to see him fight…somebody. I really hope it isn't him who ends up taking credit for this.

Match 1: Non-Title Match
World Champion Jack Swagger (w/Oklahoma Sooner jersey) vs. MVP

Fans are behind MVP here, to the surprise of nobody. Swagger with a double-leg and a waistlock, MVP up by Swagger takes him back down. Sounds like we do have some OU fans in the house, as a "Let's Go Swagger" chant from a portion of the audience gets booed by the rest of the WWE Universe. Some trash talking leads to a slap from MVP, which sends Swagger outside. Swagger back in, MVP with a flying forearm for two. Headlock takeover by MVP. Into the corner, Swagger with a knee to the gut takes advantage. He whips MVP, who floats over in the corner and slaps Swagger from behind. Oh shit just got serial. They trade punches on the mat, MVP gets the advantage and then boots Swagger in the side of the head, sending Swagger outside as we head to commercial…

We're back and MVP gets a 2 count on the World Champion. During the commercial, MVP hit a plancha. Now he hits an armbar, kind of a crossface chicken wing variation. Swagger punches out, but MVP punches back, Swagger with a boot to the knee, and then rams MVP's shoulder into the ring post! One more time and now it's MVP recovering on the floor. MVP gets back in after a 9 count by the official, and Swagger stomps away. He chokes MVP with his knee for a four count, and hits an armbar on his own, targeting the injured shoulder. MVP fights back, off the ropes, boot by Swagger. Cover gets 2. The Okies in the house chant "Let's Go Swagger" to the disapproval of the Texans while Swagger continues to dominate MVP. Swagger back to an armbar as the fans chant "MVP". Off the ropes, kick by MVP. Clotheslines by MVP, into the corner, Swagger catches MVP on the float over and power slams him for a two count! VADER BOMB! It gets a two count. Swagger continues working the arm, I can only assume that Arn Anderson produced this particular match. MVP back up, elbows to Swagger, knee in the corner! Swagger eats another elbow in the corner, MVP punches away, two clotheslines for Swagger, a knee to the face takes Swagger down…he sets up for the elbow but Swagger's up, MVP arm drags him and now he elbow drops Swagger for two! Series of counters leads to a Perfectplex by MVP for two! Swagger with a chin buster and a belly to belly suplex gets two! Both men slow to get up, as this has been quite the knocker of slobber. Swagger sets up the Vader Bomb but eats canvas instead, MVP misses the boot in the corner, Swagger schoolboys MVP and gets a three count!

Winner: World Champion Jack Swagger (11:56 shown, ***½)

I'm probably friendlier with my stars than most reviewers, but that was a damn fine bout reminiscent of the olden days where the world champ would get taken to the limit by a crowd favorite but would manage to win in the end.

After the match, MVP gets attacked by Curt Hawkins & Vance Archer. Reverse DDT by Hawkins & a top rope elbow drop from Archer is their attempt to make an impact. They've got a week left on their contract, we'll see if that was enough to impress the brass.

Backstage, Vickie Guerrero tells Theodore Long to get a hold of himself. Somebody has to take the Undertaker's place…doesn't he have any idea who? Vickie suggests Dolph Ziggler, but Theodore decides that every man on the Smackdown roster will compete in a battle royal tonight, and the winner will get the slot. I like his idea better than Vickie's.

Backstage, CM Punk is accosted by Kane, who claims he has a stench of guilt. Punk denies that he attacked Undertaker, and offers help from himself and the Straight Edge Society. Kane will hear none of it and tosses Punk down.

Match 2: Intercontinental Title Match
Drew McIntyre vs. Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston

The challenger enters first, which should make the wrestling purists happy. Kofi with a go behind on Drew, who clubs Kofi down. Stomp to the head by Drew, Kofi fights back with kicks, Drew with a head butt, he sends Kofi into the turnbuckle and kicks him down. Drew tries to toss Kofi out of the ring, but Kofi does the old M-Dogg head off the ropes spot and dropkicks Drew. Kick to the leg by Kofi, off the ropes, Kofi with a monkey flip, he punches away from Drew in the corner, but Drew fights back. McIntyre belly to back suplexes Kingston for two. European uppercut by McIntyre…as Drew drops Kofi on the ropes and knocks him out of the ring, we notice that Matt Hardy seems to have purchased a ticket. Well, it's good to know that somebody in his family's saved some money over the years. He sits right next to a somewhat larger woman (This is too easy even for me) as we go to commercial…

Drew hits a gut buster for two as we return. He punches away on Kofi and then he gestures towards Matt. He chokes Kofi on the ring ropes and then hammers him on the ring apron twice. It's all McIntyre right now, as he stomps Kingston, but then he gets knocked into the announce table! But Drew answers that by ramming Kofi into the steps, and then suplexes him on the floor. Back in the ring, Drew covers for two. Drew with crossface blows, and then a version of the surfboard. Kofi kicks his way out of it, punches away on Drew, but McIntyre answers with a knee to the gut for two. Drew clotheslines Kofi in the corner a couple of times, and puts Kofi down with a regular clothesline. Kofi kips up with a rana after Drew gets too busy posing, and knocks down Drew. Both are slow to get up, Kofi with double chops and then a dropkick to Drew, a crucifix gets a two count. Into the corner, Kofi kicks Drew, he goes up top and hits a big cross body block for two! Drew does a knee-assisted neck breaker for two, Kofi slides out of a suplex, clobbers Drew from behind, and hits the BOOM BOOM BOOM. He goes for Trouble in Paradise, but Drew gets outside, and also manages to avoid an attempted plancha by Kofi while decking Matt Hardy! Good for him. Drew sends Kofi back in, but gets distracted by Matt, leading to an SOS from Kofi for the victory!

Winner: Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston (9:55 shown, **½)

Decent enough match here…it seemed like it was missing a little something to push it over the top, but a good effort from two guys WWE hopes to see big things from the future.

Matt Hardy runs in and gives Drew a Twist of Fate! Well that just wasn't nice. Matt Striker claims that Hardy committed assault, and I'm inclined to agree.

Backstage, Kane meets up with Rey Mysterio. Rey offers words of support & condolence, but Kane thinks Rey's here to cover his tracks. Rey claims he had nothing to do with it, Kane will not blindly assume anyone's innocence. Rey backs off.

Battle Royal later tonight!

Jack Swagger stands backstage with a big smile on his face and the World title on his shoulder. It appears some people doubt his accolades and the University of Oklahoma. In this state, and in this city, the University of Oklahoma invented Swagger. Not only was he a two-time All-American American wrestler, but he started all four years for the Oklahoma Sooners, and all four years they beat the Texas Longhorns. He asks everybody to stand up as he sings the Oklahoma fight song. Apparently it's Boomer Sooner over and over again, followed by O-K-U, but he is interrupted by Kane, who wonders if Swagger had something to do with his brother. Unfortunately we don't find out tonight.

Match 3: Diva Action
Rosa Mendes vs. Kelly Kelly

Both Divas are looking good tonight, but I have a feeling this contest could be bowling shoe ugly. Tieup, Rosa with a knee, float over in the corner by Kelly, flips and then a neck breaker gets two. Here comes Team Laycool, who are also looking good tonight! Rosa stomps Kelly and gets a two count. Splash in the corner by Rosa, then some choking. Kelly hits the mat face-first. Vertical suplex by Rosa gets two. Rosa with the old seated head scissors for a little while, but Kelly fights back with a Thesz Press and some clotheslines. Kelly with a cross body off the middle rope gets two. Kick by Rosa, a neck breaker reversed and Kelly hits the K2 (I could have sworn that was something else, but apparently now it‘s a Rocker Dropper) for the three count.

Winner: Kelly Kelly (1:55 *)

Could have been worse.

Team LayCool look stupefied while Kelly seems happy with how she spent her Friday night.

Back in the locker room, Big Show plays cards with Hornswoggle until they're interrupted by Kane. Big Show tries to apologize, but Kane says that Undertaker's always had his number and there's never been anything he could do about it. Big Show tells Kane that messing with him would be a Giant mistake, and Kane kicks the card table. I didn't see or hear Hornswoggle offering an explanation for his actions or whereabouts, so I'd still consider him a suspect. ASK HIM, KANE!

Match 4: Smackdown Battle Royal where the winner gets a spot in the World Championship Match at Fatal 4-Way
Featuring Rey Mysterio, Dolph Ziggler, Finlay, MVP, JTG, The Dudebusters, Chavo Guerrero, Chris Masters, Curt Hawkins, Vance Archer, Luke Gallows, Christian, Drew McIntyre, Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston & Kane

If you're scoring at home (or even if you're alone), Rey & Dolph get your entrances before the commercial and Drew, Kofi & Kane enter after the commerical. It's a scrum when we start, as you'd expect. Lots of fisticuffs and people going after the hurt McIntyre while staying away from angry Kane. Finlay almost gets Kofi out, but nothing doing. Christian almost knocked out, but he squirms back in the ring. Rey heads outside to attack CM Punk and try to remove his mask! Punk's not even in this match, and Gallows comes out to fight with Rey on the outside. Punk & Serena head for higher ground and nobody's been eliminated as we head to commercial…

We're back and everybody's still there. Kane's down in the corner and everybody's ganging up on him…Gallows pulls people off of Kane, which makes no sense to me. Gallows tosses out Caylen Croft, Kane tosses Chris Masters, Trent Berretta & JTG bite the dust and now Gallows & Kane go at it. Kane punches away on Gallows while Archer & Finlay fight next to them. Kofi Kingston & Drew McIntyre take each other out, ensuring their feud is still active. Rey barely hangs on after Gallows & Archer try to throw him out. Ziggler with a sleeper on Finlay, Christian takes advantage and tosses Ziggler, but Ziggler distracts Christian and Finlay eliminates Captain Charisma!

Back from a commercial and we have eight people left. Rey tries a 619 on Chavo, who ducks, a series of reversals and Rey head scissors Chavo out! Finlay tries to dump Rey, but Rey ends up blocking it and Finlay drops him. Gallows is almost eliminated by MVP but stays in. MVP goes after Archer, who takes him down. Finlay wants some too, and he dumps Archer & MVP, but Kane knocks him out and we're down to four. Well, three after Rey takes out Curt Hawkins. It's Rey, Luke & Kane in the ring now…Kane boots Rey in the head and Kane & Gallows go at it…the Masked Man kicks Kane and Luke takes advantage of the distraction and almost eliminates Kane…but Kane comes back and eliminates Gallows. It's down to Rey & Kane. Rey kicks Kane in the knee, but Kane clotheslines him out of his boots. Rey slips out of a slam attempt, but Kane dumps Rey on the top rope and tries to toss him out, Rey avoids it and sentons Kane…but eats a big boot from Kane a few seconds later. Rey boots Kane in the corner, and counters a slam attempt by the Big Red Machine. 619 by Mysterio, but Kane catches him on the cross body attempt…Kane tries a choke slam, but Rey turns it into a head scissors and vaults Kane out of the ring!

Winner: Rey Mysterio (12:43 shown)

I don't rate battle royals, but it was a pretty decent piece of business.

Rey Mysterio is heading to Fatal 4-Way and will be in the World Title match against CM Punk, the Big Show & World Champion Jack Swagger! He celebrates as we end another episode of Smackdown. So long and good night!

Either Kane attacked The Undetaker or Rikishi did it, and he did it for The Rock.

oh man, kaval is thinkin 'oh hell yeah, this going to be great on nxt'.

I know they are building suspense, and all, but they really need to re-debut Joey Mercury as the masked man soon!!!

Why are people hoping it's NOT Kane?

It would certianly be a twist to the general viewers (not IWC). Also, it would give Kane something to do (which he badly needs before retiring).

In my opinion, I am going to hope it is Kane, since he and Taker have not feuded since 2004, and their last 'match' was in 2008 on SD!

That was an awesome SmackDown in my opinion. But could have used some Paul Roma.......... I sure can!!!!!!

Posted By: Paul Roma's Biggest Fan (Guest)  on June 04, 2010 at 10:12 PM

At the taping, there was a backstage segment with Kelly, Tiffany, and Laycool where Laycool said they ran off Piggy James and the Glamazon and that Kelly and Tiffany were next. WWE apparently decided to not air it after airing it to the live audience at the taping.

After Laycool's promo last week, I'm considering spending a ton of money at the WWE Shop website just show my thanks for the decision to cut their segment.

What are the odds that the Masked Man is Paul Roma?

Damn it, man. Kane should have won that battle royal. This was HIS show. That bastard Mysterio injures Taker and gets rewarded with a PPV main event. Lovely. He almost caused Chavo to break his back when he eliminated him too. Dude needs some time away from the ring. Fix those knees or something.

My prediction is Shawn Michaels attacked The Undertaker. You heard it here first.

Great show tonight. Cook, what do you mean could have been worse? The Diva's match was decent. Chill amn.

Finlay is back? DAMN... didn't Vince and WWE had him become an Agent again? well WWE always be changing their mind all the time. i shouldn't really be shocked by now. nice to see Finlay back. maybe put Finlay with hornswoggle as his manager. that would be good to see again..

"Great show tonight. Cook, what do you mean could have been worse? The Diva's match was decent. Chill amn."

Think you're being a little generous. The Torch website's SD report summed it up well be saying it looked like two women on their second day of wrestling school.

---------------------------------------

I wish, but I have a feeling it will be the done-to-death Kane taking out his brother storyline. Hopefully they'll do something different this time, although I do have to admit Kane was very good in that opening segment, so I'm willing to wait and see where this goes.

Good show with good wrestling this week - same goes for Raw as well. Hope they keep it up.

Should they be letting Rey do Knees and Sentons? I like what they are doing with Kane. I kinda do hope that it wasn't him, since the promo in the begining was pretty good, and we've seen Kane/Undertaker plenty before. Should have had Kane rack up the lions share of the elimanations though in the Battle Royale.

They need to do a segment were Papa shango..Giant gonzalez and Kamala are all lined up and kane is questioning them lol

I think it maybe Nailz, Mr. Hughes, or Nathan Jones, maybe Mike Knox or Snitsky.

That was a pretty good Smackdown, but I hate attempted murder angles. I'm not sure I even understand what they're going for with this whole "vegetative state" thing. Are they saying someone poisoned him or are they implying that he was physically beaten to the point of brain damage? Either way, the suspension of disbelief is broken by the fact that this would be a police matter. I'm pretty sure the proper procedure for these investigations doesn't involve Kane being deputized.

Stupidity aside though, Kane has made the most of the angle and it's given us a reason to be interested in his character again. He should be in full monster mode now as he tears through a list of suspects, although I'm going to be on swerve-watch for this one as the most (due to being the least) obvious suspect at this point would be Kane himself. Maybe that could at least lead to him finally winning one against his brother.

MVP/Swagger was pretty good. Any match where someone busts out a Perfectplex automatically goes up at least one star in my eyes. I liked the clean victory with Swagger outwrestling his opponent.

I don't know if it was a conscious decision, but it was a nice touch that Matt Hardy was wearing the same type of camouflage pants he wore when he did his crowd run-ins against Edge and Lita. I have to give Drew credit for doing an awesome sell on the Twist of Fate.

It's cool that they came up with a team name and angle for Archer/Hawkins. I'm always happy to see another actual tag-team come along. It will be interesting to see if The Gatecrashers gel enough to get over as a team.

"American Psycho" Vance Archer? Sounds cool, but shouldn't he be wearing a Rolex and listening to Huey Lewis and the News?

I love that Kofi's started using the SOS as a finisher. That move is too cool to only be good enough for a two count. I'm going to assume this means that people are going to start kicking out of Trouble in Paradise though, (unless the WWE has finally accepted that two different finishers can be equally over for someone not named The Rock).

I think it's about time they do something with the Punk's hooded helper storyline. It's been a couple of months now and it's just been the same run in over and over. I'm wondering if they're planning on doing something with the fact that Punk is wearing a mask as well now. Maybe Rey finally thinks he's unmasking Punk, but it turns out to be Joey Mercury (or whoever is underneath the hood).

Contrived as his offense may be, Rey is always fun to watch in battle royals. His elimination teases are rivaled only by Shawn Michaels.

Firstly, may I just say this is the best recap I've seen on here in a while. Very well written.

Secondly, I really hope this will be a sustained push for Kane. That opening promo was outstanding. I am kind of pissed that Mysterio eliminated Kane, but if Kane is gonna be focused on avenging Taker for a while it doesn't really make sense to be inserted into the title picture right away. If we're supposed to believe he's sincere than being the world champion wouldn't really be important to him right now.

Tonight's show was very compelling. I enjoyed it tremendously. I'm enjoying the Intercontinental Championship storyline and Kane's push as well.

There's two people who could have done it:

1)Ted DiBiase Jr. hired someone to attack him to plant the roots to a new feud.

2) The more obvious answer.......Heidenreich lol!

I am so tired of Rey Mysterio.

He doesn't lose feuds to heels(or matches to anyone bigger than him). Ever.
Kane, Jericho, Punk, etc...Who else does the midget have to castrate to appeal to the kiddies?

Posted By: Guest#7426 (Guest)  on June 05, 2010 at 01:08 AM

Why wouldn't Matt Hardy want to beat Drew MacIntyre for the IC title instead of costing him it week after week? Wouldn't he kill two birds with one stone by winning the title AND defeating that guy?

Because most people would have already figured out its Kane considering their history and it would be predictable. Is that hard to understand? Please spare me the "regular fan wouldn't know" bs seriously get it trough your heads most fans are smart enough to figure out who would be behind it. Thats why people don't want it to be Kane because it would be too obvious.

Fun show tonight... though the distinct lack of Punk air time cost them some brownie points.

The Taker angle is intriguing but at the same time it will end up the same way it always does... Taker squashing his opponent and sending them packing back to the mid-card.

Kelly Kelly impressed the hell out of me last night. I swear this chick's going to be big in the coming years. Rosa didn't look too bad either. Kelly's Lou Thesz Press brought so much intensity and was almost reminiscent of an Austin Thesz Press. And that finisher K2 legdrop was sweet. LayCool might be calling her Smelly Kelly, but the only thing I can smell from Kelly is the sweet smell of stardom.

Thumbs up to Miss Kelly.

Kane's promo is the reason why so many folks switched off wrestling altogether and went to UFC. It's 2010, this stuff is ridiculous.

Posted By: WrestleKing (Guest)  on June 05, 2010 at 03:09 AM

Well, the big question now is who attacked the Undertaker. The problem is, there are very few good choices for the role.

If you choose Kane, you play a feud out that already had two major WrestleMania matches and time periods (1998, 2004) and isn't going to gain as much interest again. If you choose Jack Swagger, he'll end up buried.

So what I say is.. time to do something different for a change. Make the mystery attacker Psycho Sid, hire him back for a few matches, because frankly the roster on Smackdown is painfully thin. Plus, it makes sense, as Undertaker and Sid had quite a rivalry and Sid was looking to get back in WWE - face it outside Kane he's the only sizable guy who could do the damage besides Khali (already done) and Big Show (already done)

Smackdown was okay. I have to say the reviews for this show were a lot more WWE biased than the TNA recapper who acted like it was a punishment to recap the show.

After Laycool's promo last week, I'm considering spending a ton of money at the WWE Shop website just show my thanks for the decision to cut their segment.

Posted By: Guest#4770 (Guest) on June 04, 2010 at 10:14 PM

That segment last week, like all their stuff, was hard to watch, especially on Michelle's part. The worst thing is, people actually think she has IMPROVED personality wise! She gets a ton of mic time now, but that doesn't mean she's any better. To me she's still as uncharismatic and awkward as ever. In fact it's even worse now because she's trying to be funny. At least before she was just boring, now she's boring AND cringe inducing at the same time.

Solid show. Women's match blew, these girls have been around for a while now and they just aint getting it, someones gonna get hurt bad if they keep puttin them in the ring.
The Kane stuff was cheesy, dunno how he's still got a job, hasnt had a good match in years. Other than that pretty good show but no wher near enough Punk, best talker and worker on SD! since the draft moved Jericho, Edge and The Hart Dynasty to Raw

Less Punk, more interesting show. Now who would have thought it?

I think it is CM Punk and again the twist could be that a female could have done it. Like Michelle Mcool since she is dating him or any other diva like Vicki Guerrero.

Isn't it obvious who put down Undertaker?

The new Legion of Doom (think Justice League, not Road Warriors), comprised of:

Jimmy Snuka
Jake Roberts
Giant Gonzales
Diesel
King Kong Bundy
Sid
Kane
Big Boss Man
Triple H
Ric Flair
A-Train
Big Show
Kane (again)
Randy Orton
Mark Henry
Batista
Edge
Shawn Michaels
and of course, Shawn Michaels (again).

It's so obvious, guys.

Finlay makes the battle royal but Shad & Cody Rhodes don't?? Which one has been on TV at all in the past 5 months? (And have actually been in somewhat notable feuds, even.) They could have at least said something to explain their absences....

Oh, and what about Hornswoggle, too?

"Great show tonight. Cook, what do you mean could have been worse? The Diva's match was decent. Chill amn."

Think you're being a little generous. The Torch website's SD report summed it up well be saying it looked like two women on their second day of wrestling school.

Last time I checked, this isn't the Torch asshole. The man has his opinion. If yours is better, go write your own blog that no one will read.

And thats why I can barely stand to read the torches opinion pieces, I just have the app on my phone since 411 doesn't have one. They write like they have a stick up their ass, with zero humor, write they have actually spent time in a locker room, and chat transcript between the two reads so boring. 411 for life.

Any way show was lacking Punk but I think it was fine, Kanes promo was better than about anything hollywood is putting out these days. To bad it will be all lost once this all comes out. Remember "IS HE DEAD or ALIVE?"

I'd like to see something from the Gatecrashers and see them involved in the UTT picture once this make an impact storyline is up.

Where did that top pic come from? And to me Kaval is just saying, alright I guess I'll hit it.

Who the hell are you? It's the poster's right to say the first poster was too easy on that horrible match. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Great recap. It's an old-school 411mania recap with just enough opinion and great play by play. Keep it up bro.

Also, someone mentioned HBK...

How about TRIPLE H for retribution?

RAW is pretty full in the Main Event, and as much as I don't want to see Triple H on Smackdown, it could very well be him. He and Kane feud throughout the Summer, The Cerebral Assassin is back...he gets the best of Kane then you have Triple H v.s. The Undertaker at Summer Slam.

Forget Sheamus.

There are a few ways this storyline with Undertaker could go, depending on how far out they are booking. If they are booking well in advance for next Wrestlemania we'd be able to look to the entire WWE roster. In which case I'd guess Cena.

Play a jealousy storyline similar to the Batista/Cena storyline last year. It give Cena a legitimate face to turn heel against and a legitimate storyline to do so that almost everyone would buy. He isn't needed as a face anymore with Orton getting the biggest pops now anyway.

Short-term booking its Kane, Punk, or Swagger.

Posted By: Marc (Guest) on June 04, 2010 at 11:40 PM

Agreed. Kane has been my favorite superstar since his debut as Kane in '97. He's a great wrestler and a good company man. He deserves to be rewarded after all the shit he's been through over the years.

Also agreed. Rey Mysterio is like a mini-Cena, and I'm sick of it.

Clean-cut super good guy put The Undertaker in a coma or killed him or whatever because he was jealous for some reason. Yes that sounds COMPLETELY BELIEVABLE. I mean, this storyline about wrestlers being found unresponsive by someone close to them is realistic enough, and you just want to have it hit home that much harder.

The dark main event was Swagger vs Big Show vs Mysterio.
Fun match. Gallows and Masked Mystery Man came and started beating on Mysterio; but Show saved him as Swagger walked to the back. Mysterio did a double 619 on Gallows & Masked Man. He also kept dropkicking them in the groin from all different dirrections.

I can't wait for "SmackDown!" to move to SyFy this fall -- I haven't been able to watch it since my area's local MyNetworkTV affiliate (WBVT, Burlington, VT) went bankrupt and "faded to black" 18 months ago.

Thank god you don't work in the wrestling buisness if else you know Rey along with popular vets like Undertaker just won't work as heels. Rey is 100% the underdog no matter who he faces

How can two shows put on by the same company be so different??? Smackdown is inferior to Raw in EVERY way imaginable!!! From the ..Umm "talent" and matches, to the even the intro and theme! Combine the two Trim a WHOLE LOTTA fat and give us one great product!

So sick of Mysterio. Just tsop already!!!

And as alawys... Nattie, Playboy, Please GOD!!!

Smackdown is garbage right now, the brand is basically just treading water without any major star power or interest, waiting for the move to SyFy in a few months when it will be reinvigorated. The move to MyNetworkTV failed epically and hopefully smackdown will get higher ratings on SyFy, so WWE will take it seriously again. If smackdown started getting decent ratings again, then a great move would be to send Orton there as no.1 face, and slowly build to an Orton vs Cena, face vs face big-money title match at Wrestlemania 27. Just an idea.

Yeah, because star power is so awesome. Let's get HHH, Orton, and Cena over to Smackdown so those top stars can give us an awesome fresh main-event scene. The WWE's "stars" are boring right now due to the fact that they have to dominate 14 ppvs a year with them. The best thing about Smackdown is the lack of "stars". I'm much more interested in Kofi, Swagger, Christian, and even McIntyre than Cena, Batista, HHH, Orton, Edge, etc...

Here's hoping we see Taker in a gothed up hospital with a druid doctor and emo nurse looking after him. Then Kane can start going all detective Bogey-like with a trenchcoat and a glass of scotch.

Rey Mysterio sucks, plain and simple. Wrestling is fake, we all know that, but how in the hell can anyone believe that little midget could get up from a big boot from Kane. Or how could he not be thrown over the top? I know the latino fans love him, but they should find someone more believable to get behind. Get this guy off my TV PLEASE!

I'm just wondering if Kane'll contact Leslie Neilson for help in finding 'Taker's attacker.
