411's WWE Superstars Report 9.02.10

-Michael Cole and The King welcome us to the show.

Goldust vs. Ted DiBiase w/Maryse
And here we go. They circle, lock up and DiBiase works the arm. Headlock, to the corner and Goldust backs off and CHOMPS at DiBiase. Arm drag by Goldust, another and DiBiase bails to the floor. After a short break, DiBiase back in and a boot to Goldust. Rights follow, off the ropes and a big right by Goldust. Another and into a cover for 2. Off the ropes, reversal, but butt by Goldust and he then clotheslines DiBiase to the floor. He follows, rights to DiBiase and then slams him into the barricade. Goldust rolls him back in, Maryse distracts Goldust and DiBiase knocks him to the floor. He follows him out and slams Goldust to the steps. We head to commercial @ 4:00.

Back from commercial @ 7:00 with DiBiase working the chinlock on Goldust. Goldust to his feet, but DiBiase levels him with a clothesline for 2. Maryse was not pleased. Boot to the gut by DiBiase, and another cover for 2. Mounted rights by DiBiase, and then he chokes Goldust out in the ropes. Maryse then slaps him for good measure. Goldust fights back on DiBiase with rights, but DiBiase gets a neck breaker for 2. Elbows by DiBiase, to the corner and Goldust hits hard and drops, cover for 2 by DiBiase. Memphis fist drops by DiBiase and anther cover for 2. Back to the chinlock goes DiBiase, Goldust fights back, clothesline connects. Another, off the ropes, drop down and the uppercut. Atomic drop and the bulldog gets 2. Mounted punches in the corner by Goldust, shoved off but he gets the snap slam on DiBiase for 2. Off the ropes, reversal, dream street try, countered and DiBiase with the flapjack and covers for 2. OFFICIAL RESULT: Ted DiBiase @ 12:00 (9:00 shown) via pin {**} Solid opening match, but honestly I am more interested in Goldust than the guy that they want to push.

-After the match, DiBiase celebrates with the million-dollar title.

WWE NXT HIGHLIGHTS:

Santino Marella w/Vladimir Kozlov vs. Jimmy Uso w/Jey Uso and Tamina
They circle, lock up and Uso shoves Santino away. Santino with a running kick that misses, throws some more fake stuff and Uso stands there. Lock up, arm drag by Santino, who celebrates and eats a right. Slam on Santino, off the ropes and a head butt connects for 2. Headlock by Uso, Santino fights to his feet escapes and Uso with the single arm DDT to counter the cobra. He works the hand now, stomps on it and then hammerlocks Santino and slams him to the corner. Santino back with rights, to the corner, Uso misses the splash, Santino fights back with punches, split and the hip toss. SALUTING HEAD BUTT by Santino gets 2. Kozlov drops Jey on the floor, Samoan Drop (HE IS SAMOAN) by Uso. Up top, EATS KNEES on the splash and Santino covers for the win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Santino Marella @ 3:00 via pin {*} And the fall of the Usos continues. It was what it was..

-After the match, Tamina gets in the ring and places her lei on Santino. She then pets his cobra and kisses it better. I hear when she feeds the Usos, she does the "here comes the airplane" gimmick.

-Striker and Grisham talk.

WWE RAW HIGHLIGHTS:

-WWE went to China doncha know.

-Kofi Kingston makes his way to the ring before the commercial.

-After the commercial, Chavo Guerrero heads to the ring.

Kofi Kingston vs. Chavo Guerrero
Lock up to begin, counters and an arm drag by Kofi. Leg kicks by Kofi, to the corner and Chavo shoves him away, only to eat a dropkick. To the corner, big cross body by Kofi gets 2. Kofi works the arm, and then works the knee with a knee drop. Kofi slams the leg to the mat, off the ropes and a dropkick by Kofi and a cover for 2. Kofi hooks up the leg standing, kicks by Chavo, he escapes and lays the boots to Kofi. Front facelock bow by Chavo, tosses Kofi off the ropes, Kofi bounces back and then tosses Chavo to the floor. Kofi to the apron and Chavo sweeps the leg and Kofi face plants. We head to a commercial @ 3:00.

Back from commercial @ 7:00 and Chavo is now working the leg. He pulls the leg to the corner, and then wraps it around the steel post. Chavo then wraps the leg around the ropes and back into the ring as he slingshots in with the senton and covers for 2. To the corner, Chavo wraps the leg in the ropes again and cranks away at it. Kofi fights back with rights, the ref has to back Kofi off and Chavo lands the LYGAAAAAAAAAAAA KICK for 2. Chavo now chokes out Kofi in the ropes, back to the leg and drops the knee onto it. Chavo cranks away at the leg, bending it the wrong way, that has to suck. Kicks by Kofi to escape, back elbow by Kofi and then Chavo scoops him up, Kofi escapes and lands a neck breaker. Chops by Kofi, kicks to the leg, dropkick connects. Kofi misses the leaping chop, but manages to get the SOS for 2. Chavo battles back, sunset flip, roll through and a boot to the head by Kofi. BOOM DROP connects. He sets n the corner, misses the clothesline, kick to counter Chavo, up top and a cross body but Chavo got the knees up! 1…2…NO! SHIMMY dance by Chavo, one amigo, two amigos, three amigos! Chavo limps to the corner, heads up top, Kofi gets up and crotches him. Kofi up top with Chavo, Chavo fights, rights to Kofi, shoves him off but Kofi NAILS Trouble In Paradise as Chavo was up top! Chavo falls into the ring, and Kofi covers for the win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Kofi Kingston @ 14:00 (11:00 shown) via pin {**¾} Strong main event this week on Superstars. Chavo continues to work hard and make guys look good even though he will never get past this position on the card. Good psychology from both guys, and Kofi played the "resilient face that had to overcome to win" well.

Good to see Chavo back and resuming his "King of Superstars" role. I fully expect the next time he faces off with Kofi it will be for the IC title. They've finally built him back into a real wrestler with the strong matches all summer and he's gotta be inserted back into the Dolph/Vickie thing at some point.

The main event and the opening match brought the goodness, but I have to agree with Larry with regards to the Dibiase/Goldust match. I was much more interested in watching Goldust put on a clinic than watching their trying to push.

Anyone notice WWE didn't show the beatdown on Kaval either on Superstars or on the Youtube clip? That must have been a disaster of a angle for WWE to not even try to edit that.

I hate Chavo. He's such a vanilla worker and the only moves he does that get ANY pop from the crowd are moves Eddie did. Despite all this Chavo has somehow managed to trick people into thinking he's a good worker, even though he's been carried his entire career by better works (Benoit, Eddie, Helms, Rey, etc).

Fuck Chavo.

Good show this week. Better than Impact in my opinion. Even though the ratings won't reflect it, I still feel that Superstars was the better show this week.

Well, I said this two years ago and I'm going to say it again.

Chavo Guerrero....it's time to CROSS THE LINE! At least TNA won't job you out to a midget for 6 months or more straight.

While Goldie is older, he is still more interesting than most of the damn roster. His gimmick has always been interesting and he's understands comedy while still knowing how to have a good match.

If what Ted's "career" is going through is what we define as a "push" there are depressing times ahead.

"Haha! The resident 'too cool for the norm' guy."

No, I'm just annoyed how every time Chavo works, people are like, "Yes! Chavo!!!!! I can't wait to jerk off to his match, hopefully he hits his sloppy rolling suplexes and looks lost between each move!". I can think he's overrated. Believe it or not genius everybody that posts here doesn't have to have a gimmick on what they're posting.
