Bryan sits atop the ramp and screams out YES!! to celebrate his win!

A preview of media rounds that Cena has made and a spotlight on his rise bores me, so I go to take a piss.

It appears we are having a tag team match with matching Heel Divas vs unmatching Face Divas.

Divas Tag Team Match:
The Bella Twins, Beth Phoenix and Natalya vs. Kelly Kelly, Eve, Alicia Fox and Tamina

All hell breaks loose as Kelly is left alone in the ring. She is going up top as all Divas are outside. She flies and is caught by all of them. That was lackluster. Kelly and Bella are in the ring. Beth slaps Bella hard, tagging herself in and goes for the Glam Slam on Kelly! She ihts it! 1...2...3!!!
Winners: Beth Phoenix, The Bella Twins and Natalya (**)

In the back, Zack Ryder is in a back brace and wheelchair. Johnny Ace is there to welcome him to his own dressing room with a TV and food. If there is anything that Ryder needs, just let him know and he'll get it. Here's Eve, fresh off her win. She says that Johnny has done enough. As far as she is concerned, he's vindictive, pompous and ugly. Ok, she didn't say ugly. She hopes he's fired tomorrow. He mockingly calls it gratitude. Eve calls him an ass then gets pushing duty for Ryder.

Kane does his flames pre-match, so that means he's losing here. Cena starts with a kick then we get some rights only to run into a back elbow from Kane! Kane yells for Cena to give it up...Cena comes back with some kicks and sends Kane into some trash cans. The trash don't phase Kane none! He grabs a chair and gets a gut check into Cena. Kane wails on the back of Cena a couple of times then tosses the chair aside and we see the door to Zack Ryder's dressing room...Kane kicks the door in, literally and Ryder is in the chair. He tries to kick Kane but Kane just muzzles him with his hand, and it appears that's enough to daze him....is it laced with fuckin ether? Kane rolls Ryder out of the room and it looks like he's heading to the outside.

Near the end of the ramp, Kane just pushes foreward, sending Ryder to the floor. He lifts him up by his backbrace and rolls him into the ring. Kane toys with him and here comes Eve....what the hell? Eve pleads for Kane to stop. She's begging...on her knees (giggity). Kane looks to Tombstone Ryder. He looks at Eve, grins, and we get a Tombstone! Ryder is laid out as Eve cries. Kane leaves as Ryder gets the stretcher job and Cena is resting aside the ropes. The announcers get the "Super Low Voice of Seriousness" as Eve works on her Emmy. She looks back at Cena with an accusing face.

We get a hype of The Rock's upcoming projects and his wrestling history intertwined.

It appears another impromptu match is in order, as Drew McIntyre makes his way to the ring. Oh great, it's with Brodus! Brodus is green and he's T-Rexin his ass down to the ring. Sheamus sends Jericho to the corner and goes for the Brogue Kick!!! He misses! Jericho goes for another Codebreaker, but Sheamus tosses him over the rope! Jericho hangs from the ropes as Sheamus stands and waits! Jericho is on the apron! Sheamus with the Brogue Kick! Jericho is KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT!!!!! He falls to the mat!

When it was down to Jericho and Sheamus, Jericho should have just tossed himself over the rope.

That woulda at least been interesting rather than a weak HBK/Taker impersonation

Sounds like the Kofi spot was cool.

World title match:2.5 stars
Diva match:1.25 stars
Cena vs Kane:2 stars
Clay vs Drew:.75 stars
WWE title:3.75 stars
Rumble:4 stars
Good show, but could have been better.

Yo, that Rumble match was incredibly boring. The show overall was no better. Really, the only PPV quality match was Punk-Ziggler. Everything else was average at best. And all of those terrible video packages in between segments didn't help.

4/10

This whole PPV was trash especially the rumble itself. Its like the creative team didnt even try tonight on everything. It seems like they went with the worst idea that came to mind and went with it just for the sake of swerving everybody.

Personally I'm glad Sheamus won. Jericho didn't need to win. He's gonna be at mania either way. Don't bash it yet, give them a chance to build it up to mania. Plus it's not the same old rinse and repeat thing with the same guys at the top. Granted Sheamus has been champ twice, but Jericho or Orton have been champs a number of times. I was pulling for Sheamus, Barret, Rhodes or Ziggler. Overall, I'm happy with the results

I Don't mind Sheamus winning at all. Its boring in a way because its like Smackdown winning the Rumble, because you know Sheamus is going to challenge for the world title. Would like to see Orton turn heel, win the title from Bryan and defend it against a Face Sheamus, but only if Orton is a "Legacy Era" type heel. Anyway, who cares if Jericho didn't win, that just frees him up to build up a storyline/Rivalry with someone for Mania. The only thing i don't get, is why the build up about The End of the world and this and that, only for him to lose? i don't get it. The disappointment for me is there was no story advancement for Cena/Kane. They NEED to turn Cena heel and have him blow some fuses and start taking out the whole locker room (a few people every RAW) until the story builds up like The Rock is the only man that can take him down. Thats booking. Kharma should NOT have been in the Rumble. She should have Came out at the end of the Diva's match and had a showdown with Beth, duh, how do you not book that? that would've made the Diva's title a little less meaningless after all. I surely hope the WWE redeems itself after this poor excuse for a Rumble.

I caught the show at a sports bar, having been the first WWE PPV in quite some time, and it was a very solid effort. Nothing truly classic, but worth the $5 cover fee and the three hours. Here are some thoughts

WWE triple threat cage: About what I thought it would be--decent but nothing spectacular. It didn't help that Henry was working very hurt and Big Show was also hurt. But Bryan came through. Still, I think Elimination Chamber will be the end, as I can't see a Bryan/Shaemus match at WM.

Divas tag: Time filler, but not as horrible as I expected.

Kane/Cena: OK match, but the post-match stuff made it worthy to watch. I'm guessing this will lead to a rematch at Elimination Chamber, or a major confrontation in the Chamber itself.

Clay v. McIntyre: I wonder what Drew did to get in the doghouse in the last year. Still, at least he got on PPV. And man was Clay over with the crowd.

Punk/Ziggler: A very fun match that probably would have gone four stars without the extraneous nonsens.

Rumble: Shaemus winning was a bit of a surprise, as I thought Jericho would take it, or Orton once he was in. But it was a pretty entertaining match with a lot of fun segments, such as the Sock and Sock Connection (Foley/Santino), Kofi's handstand save which may have been just as cool as Morrison's spiderman save from last year, and Cole/Karma. And the ending segment with Jericho and Shaemus was great. Still, this year's Rumble seemed a bit lackluster without that much in the way of major stars--which is the WWE's own fault because they haven't built too many new stars in the last five years. Thus, you pretty much knew it would be Shaemus, Orton or Jericho.

All in all, a solid PPV that nicely begins the buildup to WM.

what? no kane in the rumble? wow.

Posted By: aJs (Guest)  on January 29, 2012 at 11:29 PM

- Big Show vs. Mark Henry vs. Daniel Bryan - ***.

- Diva's tag match: **

- John Cena vs. Kane - ***. The way WWE overbooked this match was atrocious in my opinion, but overall the match wasn't bad and as I said before and I'll it again, it was much better than I anticipated it would be and better than it had any right to be. I feel sorry Zack Ryder though. That kid has the worst luck in the entire world.

- CM Punk versus Dolph Ziggler - ****. I mean, look, everybody knew these guys were going to go out and kill it and have a great match. Personally I thought it could have been better, because it was dragged down by John Laurinitis, but overall it was a great match, so I'm not trippin' over how Ace might have undermined this match in the slightest bit. It's cool. Besides if HHH fires Johnny Ace tomorrow and Ziggler reinvokes his rematch clause against CM Punk or at the next PPV, then I'm straight ya dig.

- Royal Rumble - ****. The Royal Rumble started out slow and boring, but as it went on it better and better. I'm not going to sit here and say that the Royal Rumble match itself was a classic, but in my opinion it was a pretty damn good Royal Rumble in this. The only thing that I'm pissed off about is Sheamus winning the Rumble over Jericho. That's REALLY getting under my skin. Sheamus has improved tremendously over the past couple of months and has stepped his game up to the point where he's become a great worker, but come on!!! Having him win the Royal Rumble over Chris Jericho, one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of this business and in this company WWE, is a slap in the face to not only me, but wrestling fans everywhere who ordered this PPV expecting Chris Jericho to win the Royal Rumble. Ok. ....so I guess Sheamus is feuding with Daniel Bryan now over the World Heavyweight Championship. What about Jericho about huh? What about him? He deserves a shot to work with CM Punk at Wrestlemania 28 regardless of whether he won or lost the Royal Rumble. He's muthafuckin' Chris Jericho for God sakes! HE DESERVES SOME RESPECT! Vince, LET HIM WORK WITH PUNK AT WRESTLEMANIA!! Seriously Vince.......you fucked up bigtime tonight! Get it together!

Most underwhelming royal rumble since 1999

i would say wwe has the shittiest team of writers ever, but then I read tony acero's report, i stand corrected

Posted By: Guest#7153 (Guest)  on January 29, 2012 at 11:40 PM

well, that was underwhelming.....I got a few good laughs out of the rumble but I've seen better....Kofi had a great spot and the Kharma return was nice, Sheamus was a great choice for winner though. Somewhat decent match from Punk and Zigg but the match centered around Punk and Lauranitis. Also, minor nitpick, but wasn't the payoff to Cena and Jericho's storyline supposed to be tonight?

Posted By: wcwfan (Guest)  on January 29, 2012 at 11:40 PM

Sheamus and Jericho were the two most likely candidates to win the Rumble, and i'm glad that one of my picks was correct. Sheamus vs Bryan at Mania should be excellent, provided they don't botch it like last year

Posted By: Guest#1021 (Guest)  on January 29, 2012 at 11:41 PM

Ricardo's Datsun had a headlight out. At least that's what it looked like from my seat under the Wrestlemania sign. Oh, and Drew McIntyre sucks.

Posted By: John (Guest)  on January 29, 2012 at 11:44 PM

That was fun to watch and that's is what we pay our money for.

Have to say I had Punk /Ziggler at ***ish until the ending sequences kicked in. It was one of the rare occasions where overbooking worked if you ask me. So I'd call it ****

Plus I don't know where you get ***1/2 for the Rumble. That was pure fun from start to finish with very little drag and Jericho and Sheamus made one of the best final twos ever. ****1/2 and one of the Rumbles that will be remembered fondly.

after replacing Dragon/Sheamus with Cole/King, it only makes sense for them to be in one of the main events this year at Mania.

What was the point of the Miz-Truth match from Raw if Truth got slot #3?

Anyway the WWE roster is weak as hell. They NEED Christian, Rey and Del Rio bad because I felt like watching a bunch of jobbers just waiting for Jerichoto win. I was however plesaently surprised by Shea us winning however. So good ending

My thoughts on this year's Royal Rumble PPV can be summed up in one word.

Disappointing.

But to expand, everything was generally "okay" but nothing stood out as great, captivating or must-see.

This was the first PPV I have ordered (live) since WrestleMania XXVI and I must admit that it was a little underwhelming overall.

I wasn't upset by any of the winners and losers, but nothing really grabbed me for more than a few seconds (outside of some unexpected returns in the Rumble match itself).

I'm still looking forward to WrestleMania though, and hopefully it will exceed everyone's already high expectations.

besides the rest of the insanely stupid errors you've made in this report, here's a suggestion, don't refer to falling to the floor as "falling to the mat", guess what genius, the mat is the ring, the floor is outside the ring, falling to the mat to be eliminated makes no damn sense

Posted By: Guest#6091 (Guest)  on January 29, 2012 at 11:59 PM

I must say even though Johnny Ace was special enforcer or referee, I expected a screwy ending but I hated that WWE Title match and it was 100% because of bad, no scratch that terrible booking. From a work rate standpoint it was probably best match but I hated every second of roughly the last 10 minutes. Worst match of the night.

But, doesn't this mean that the only words Jericho has uttered so far are bullshit? I don't understand the logic of the vignettes & the silence if this was part of the pay-off. It's really odd that he'd be built up so much in a mysterious fashion only to do absolutely jack shit.

If he wasn't due to win he should've willingly jumped out & given Sheamus the win whilst still 'ending the world as we know it'. I just don't think it was smart booking.

Plus, for those who didn't watch, this report underplays Roadd Dogg's reception & contribution. Put it this way, they should have had Orton follow him as that was the only way you could have kept the crowd at the level they were at when RD entered.

Instead we got an Uso & the crowd died instantly.

Did not see the RR, but why have 3 announcers in the match? Not a Cena fan, but you would think he would be in it. What about Kane? Even Taker and HHH.

3 actual (current) stars in the entire rumble - orton, jericho, show.
Sheamus was the only legit 'future star'.
punk proved his main event status.

= summary of 2012 rumble.

WWE had only 2 title matches and the rest was none title. they'd put a championship match as the opening match for tonight? What happen to that filler match you had? or even Brodus Clay as an opener. come on man

Here's my problem. The Rumble match itself is the beginning of the "road to Wrestlemania" but there was no actual booking involved. Why didnt Ziggler and Foley interact in the Rumble after their confrontation on Raw. Why didnt Goldust pull a cameo and eliminate Cody to spark their feud. Why was Barrett treated like a jobber? This was simply too much comedy. I had fun watching, but the Rumble should be serious fun and not stupid fun. This was purely stupid fun

------------------

The "point" is that the draw for the Rumble is supposed to random. Miz losing that match only guaranteed that he would be #1. In theory, Truth's name went back into the hopper (not TL) and he was eligible to go in 2 through 30. Heck, given his "crazy" character, I would have had him insisting on being #2 just to, in theory, get Miz all to himself for a short time because he's, you know, insane.

Had no problem with Truth's placement at all, and that's coming from a fan of his. At least you give them credit for going with Sheamus getting the win, since there's no doubt once Orton went out were were to expect Jericho to get the win.

I hate Sheamus! He is the most overrated boring piece of crap! Wow, he has two moves: a kick and a stupid bang on the chest! With as many moves as he has they might as well call him Goldberg! I hope he somehow loses his title shot between now and Wrestlemania! And where is Kane? Can't have a Rumble without Kane!

Sheamus is so boring. It sucks that he's gonna be involved in a Mania championship match. Orton/Bryan would've had a chance to steal the show, wrestling-wise.

Ugh. On one I kind of get your point, but on the other hand the internet's ruined wrestling fandom and here's exhibit A. The match was fun, end of story. I'd rather the event be fun than further 10 stories and A. be boring and B. predictable. The '12 Rumble was neither, and Kharma's return was awesome.

Dude, calm down. There are two world titles ya know. And Sheamus can only challenge for one which leaves the other open for a challenger which can easily be Jericho if the WWE wanted it to be.And if you're a real wrestling fan, the thought of Jericho wrestling either Daniel Bryan or CM Punk at WM should excite you.

The match was a lot of silly fun. While I do miss the older rumbles which just seemed series with a sprinkling of silly in it, I still found myself enjoying the Rumble itself. There were a number of truly awesome moments in it....

I loved how Michael Cole was berating his fellow announcers, then jumping into the Rumble itself. I laughed...gotta admit...it made me chuckle. I wish they would make him a manager to justify all the heel antics he does because it doesn't really serve the greater product (which is the wrestlers themselves).

Sorry...didn't mean to sound bitter there. The rest of the card was pretty good. Kane was a monster, as always. I'm happy to see Cena drop the Superman act and become almost beatable. I never liked the unbeatable face, no matter who it was (Hogan, Austin, Rock)...the hero is as only as good as the villian he faces...and the villian should always be more powerful or else, where's the tension? Super-Cena, like Super-Austin, was always invincible. Austin did it better, but both were still the same.

Wow...got off topic there. I'm happy that Ziggler had such a good match. The guy's a main eventer in my eyes. I want to see more of him in the future...I will miss his undercard matches with Morrison, but maybe Morrison can get his act together and come back so there can be great matches again (I hope)

Thanks for a decent recap of the card. There's a few minor errors, but considering you were typing this as the event happened, that's damn impressive. Thanks for all your hard work and I can't wait to read more in the future.

Take care man

The outcome was never in doubt. Surprise entries kind of sucked, except maybe Kharma. I mean come on, Hacksaw? I was sick of watching that guy blow snot when he was in his prime. This match sounds like it could've used some athletes like John Morrison and Shelton Benjamin types.

this show was such a disappointment!

the cage match was ok, but the rest was terrible, sure their were some really nice moments in the punk/ziggler match, but it was overbooked, and it left ziggler looking pathetic...

on top of that the recent punk/ziggler raw match was way better...

so everything up to the rumble felt like it should have been on raw, not on a $50 ppv!

no on to the rumble, it was just so boring...

it was full of a bunch of midcarders & nobodys, their were almost no credible contenders...

and most of the match was more of a bad comedy act than a fun rumble match...

you know its bad when king, jim duggan, & road dogg get the biggest reactions in 2012...

and why have the whole announce table in the match? there were just so many fillers and not enough main event talent that it makes the winner not look anywhere as good as previous winners...

no i will say i really enjoyed the final 4 and the jericho/shemus ending, and i think its good a young talent won...

but the rest was bad, well aside from kofi's epic handstand...

then to top all this off, jericho does a promo about the world ending at the rumble, and nothing happens...

that was a big letdown, well jerichos whole return has been a letdown, and it sucks because hes definitely one of my favorites!

this show was easily a 4/10...

Just reading the description of the rumble is enough to bore me.
There was a lack of any intersecting storylines (Ziggler/Foley never happened, neither did Rhodes/Goldust)
Jericho didn't do anything out of the ordinary, and the final 4 came down to 4 already established guys with Show single handedly eliminating the 3 guys with the most to gain from winning (Ziggler, Rhodes, and Miz) within mere seconds of each other and bitching out Swagger. Show looked like a star destroying the stars of 4 up and comers. Very disappointed.
Even though the 2011 RR was underwhelming, it's even better than this one.

the 'E has some of the worst fucking fans of any sport and/or art form.

Y2J did not need the win and he knows this. the Celtic Warrior and the American Dragon will get rewarded this year at Mania for being bumped off last years.

Sheamus/Danielson
Punk/H
Y2J/Orton
Kane/Taker

that's the rest of your Mania card.

Never has the Royal Rumble ever felt more like just an other PPV. Good opener & Punk/Ziggler was MOTN, not sure whether to make heads or tails of the Rumble yet...have to see where they go w/ Sheamus. It had some good spots & the last 10mins where great w/ all of the near eliminations. The amount of Low/Mid-Card talent reminded me of 1995, five years from now, it'll look like a who's, who list of "Where are they now(s)". The filler was just awful, nothing that wouldn't have felt out of place for Raw. 5.5/10

CAGE MATCH (**3/4)

DIVAS TAG MATCH (*1/2)

CENA/KANE (**)

BRODUS/MCINTYRE (SQUASH - N/R)

ZIGGLER PUNK (***1/4)

RUMBLE (***-***1/2)

I thought the "world was going to end" tonight? I've been giving Jericho the benefit of the doubt because he's Jericho, but this storyline of his better go somewhere and fast, because his return is starting to look like a massive bust right now.

I loved the Rumble and the Foley/Santino showdown has become one of my favorite Rumble moments. Also, my boy Cody Rhodes had a great showing of over 40 mins and eliminated about 6 or 7 guys if I'm not mistaken. Like the Sheamus win and the "out of left field" nature of it, but Jericho's end of the world promise fell flat.

The Ziggler/Punk match was VERY disappointing in my opinion. I liked their Raw match a whole lot better. It never really clicked. But this Rumble is def. in my top 5 rumbles. The Kharma return, Ricardo's car, Cody's performance, the Foley/Santino showdown at the OK corral, and Kofi's handstand are highlights.

Fun fact: Only one of the Usos was in the Rumble. The other Uso was not, despite the fact that there was apparently room for Jim Duggan, the Road Dogg, a guy who's only ever been shown as a ring announcer on WWE TV, and three commentators, one of whom has not only never been a wrestler but whose complete ignorance of the wrestling business has in fact become his gimmick over the last couple of years.

Not saying Jimmy Uso should've been in the Rumble, but maybe, if they weren't gonna use both guys, maybe give Jey's spot to one of the other active WWE Superstars who had no role whatsoever in the event? I mean, when you're looking at putting Michael Cole in the Rumble, isn't that maybe a sign that Brodus Clay and Drew McIntyre don't need to be in a 30-second singles match (or -- hey -- can be in both that AND the Rumble)? Or that that this is probably one of the better possible venues to showcase that Mason Ryan fellow I read you were so high on earlier today? Y'know, just spitballin' here.

Didn't watch but reading the results, Kharma return was the most shocking thing(maybe I'm off on time frame, but shouldn't she have just barely had her kid and needed time to recover????). Sheamus winning is way better than Orton winning...although I know Jericho didn't need it I would have loved to see him finally get one, but he'll still be in a high profile match at WM based on the fact that he is Chris Jericho, which is fine by me.

I really think that this helps Sheamus, and a strong showing in EC could really help the American Dragon, to making a title match between them two at Wrestlemania not only great, but career elevators between them two and think it could be going that way. Orton has his feud with Barrett that the big payoff could be at Mania...which would even help elevate Barrett at the same time(although count me as someone not enthralled with Barrett, but a good WM showing in a big match could change that).

Cena/Kane reads like garbage which makes sense as this whole feud is, and just reeks of filler before WM with Cena's match with the Rock...which only has my interest because of the Rock. I hope this feud ends at EC if only to keep Cena out of the EC so there is no title on the line between him and Rock at WM as it doesn't need it.

Punk/Ziggler can keep putting on great matches, but I just don't see WWE "creative" knowing how to make it last until then...and I want Punk/Jericho at WM anyways. That's another match that wouldn't need the title involved, but really if its not on Cena at WM, its on Punk as Ziggler isn't worthy of being there yet. Really don't see any other way for the WWE Title to go into WM other than on Punk or Cena defending as they've made Miz too weak to carry it into WM(even with his good showing, they've still done too much dmage in his run) and Ziggler isn't there yet.

All in all, again I didn't watch just read, but seemed like a decent Rumble. Nothing ground breaking, but it seems better than last years which I did watch and thought was pretty boring. Glad they didn't bring in people like Eugene(like reports on this website said), but really do wish they'd done something like the Miz not just Iron Manning but being either winner or last man to really build him up. I'm still on board though for the Road to Wrestlemania!!!!!!(just please no HHH/UT2, don't need an over-hyped/over-rated rematch)

They should have done the finish with Jericho they been talking about on the internet. Who cares if we knew? It would make a lot more sense-Sheamus is a horrible decision unless he grows a personality fast-and it seems like these things take time..so expect another Wrestlemania that lowers expectations and lower ratings..

So the Royal Rumble match has been won by Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Undertaker and...Sheamus?

Posted By: Guest#8108 (Guest)  on January 30, 2012 at 05:14 AM

i felt it was a worthy PPV, I felt the punk-ziggler match would be ten times better if it was just concentrating on storytelling inside the ring and not this crap with John-Boy,

Whilst Brodus is playing his gimmick well, I will watch anything he does, but bit concerned he has a variety of 4 moves... but time will develope him

As for the rumble, we watched it as a group of late 20somethings and found the nostalgic moments fun, and also realized it was getting serious towards the end. The challenge with a match that long is cohesion, and I felt for the most part they got it right, it certainly didn't have as many "big names"or genuine contenders to win as in previous years , and we narrowed it dwn to Randy, Sheamus or Jericho earlier on in the Peirce, which did make it a bit predictable,

As always though WWE - Loved the rumble, just try a little harder next year and seeya at WM

Havent yet watched the Rumble myself. But i am glad that Sheamus is going to main event at WM but people saying that it should have been Jericho's is straight up delusional. Jericho is a multi time champion and a great worker does not need to be on the road to WM. Looks like people are forgetting stop this journey has to take before WM in other words Elimination Chamber. I believe that Brian will drop the title there to maybe Henry, seeing how the whole Sheamus push started out against Henry. and Y2J can still be number one contender after Elimination Chamber and face Punk at WM. I didnt want Jericho winning the Royal Rumble, but rather have the Punk vs Ace story going and inject Jericho as a part into that. both claiming to be best in the world at this. so Jericho is clearly heel. last year a heel won the rumble so i think its cool that a Face like Sheamus could become Champion by WM. Jericho will fit into any good storyline for the title against punk come down the line. I was actually hoping a big match between Sheamus and HHH at mania, with Sheamus. and not let WWE going to its old trusty horse once to often in another taker/hhh match.

I thought the dirtsheets said that the WWE was going to renew Mason Ryan's push by featuring him heavily in the Rumble match? I wonder if they'll come up with an excuse for why he wasn't even in it? More than likely they'll just ignore it like they do when they're typically just pulling stuff out of their collective asses.

Um you do know Jericho is a heel right. so chances are they are going to put Jericho against a face. Since Daniel Byran is a heel. They would not be booking Bryan vs. Jericho for Wrestlemania. They did not need to have Jericho win Royal Rumble for that. Relax man. We understand you're a jericho fan.
So just because of Jericho not winning the Rumble doesn't mean in Mania

* Cage Match: Underwhelming
* Diva's Match: DoDs are hypocrites for working with. * Bellas and Beth's attitude ticked me off.
* Cena v. Kane: Good match but double count-out blows, and Eve needs to stop guilt tripping Cena.
* Punk v. Ziggler: Decent match, hilarious ending.
* Royal Rumble: Duggan alone made it worth $23 (I only paid half), but the match as a whole was freaking awesome. Congrats Shamus.

Pre-Rumble Grade: C +
Royal Rumble Grade: A
Total PPV Grade: B+

I like Sheamus. I have no problem with him winning. He's over with the crowd and would be believeable as champ. Bryan is boring , even as a heel. So fn boring. This is why his match for THE WORLD TITLE was a curtain jerker.

gotta say this show was disappointing. i was generally entertained but the wrestling end of things let me down. i actually didnt mind the bryan match because in a way it was kind of funny in a weasel kind of way. CM Punk Ziggler was a huge let down, i enjoyed it somewhat but i hated the countless missed calls for the ref to pin or make ziggler tap, it felt played out. as others have said, i really was happy sheamus won....i have read online that jericho is only around until summerslam. he doesnt need the WM title spot to be in a main event, sheamus does. im glad they made the right call instead of the glam call. one thing i cant figure out is why certain people didnt like the kane cena match. i thought kane whooping on a fake neck braced ryder was simply priceless. it made up for a weak match.

"Just reading the description of the rumble is enough to bore me.

Yea, because Wrestling is a form of entertainment that you should read instead of watch.

I thought the PPV was average (especially for the $50 charge). Sheamus was a surprise considering I had Punk winning in my pick w/Ziggler winning the belt.

Maina line-up:

1) Bryan (c) vs. Sheamus
2) Shaq vs. Big Show
3) Jericho vs. Undertaker
4) Punk vs. Ziggler (c)--Ziggler wins at the Chamber
5) HHH/Foley vs. Johnny Ace/Swagger: Loser Leave WWE
6) Cena vs. Rock
7) Miz/Kane vs. Truth/Kingston
8) Rhodes vs. Goldust for the IC Title
9) Phoenix vs. Karma for the Womens Title
10) Orton vs. Barrett: Last Man Standing

I get what was previously mentioned about Jericho not needing the win. I do. BUT The appearance he made right beforehand SPECIFICALLY mentioned his intentions in the rumble. So. Two options.
1)Jericho DOESN'T have something new up his sleeve and will be back to his most recent character within a month. (I really hope not.)
2)WWE burned up credibility and intrigue with Jericho's return, definitely damaging, possibly derailing a larger original plan for a cheap attempt to spike the buyrate.

Either way, Mondays Jericho promo was a mistake if they weren't going to give him something (not even a win, necessarily. Maybe he just ruins Punks match. Maybe he kidnaps Undertaker. Just something big and flashy and grinds the program to a halt.)

Posted By: TK03000 (Guest) on January 29, 2012 at 11:30 PM

dude, you echo my exact sentiments up until you say you were pissed that sheamus won over jericho. as a wrestling fan, you should know by now that losing the rumble does not mean that jericho will not be working with punk. of course he'll be working with punk! it's pretty much a given. so why does he have to win the rumble to ensure that? sheamus and bryan will start their feud building to wm, and jericho and puck will begin theirs. punk vs jericho at wm, book it, rumble win or not.

and furthermore, why would you order the ppv if you expected jericho to win? why not save the money and read about it on 411mania the next day? the whole fun part of the rumble is NOT knowing who wins! i, too, was expecting jericho to win, but marked out when sheamus did, becuase it was a nice surprise! if wrestling becomes predictable, then it loses even more of the entertainment value it's supposed to bring.

so, kudos to the wwe for not following the "pattern" and having jericho win. jericho will get all the respect he deserves and fight punk anyway.

overall ppv rating: 3 1/2 stars. 4 for the rumble itself, 3 for the rest of the card.

I think people take this stuff WAY too seriously. This PPV had solid stuff for the most part all the way through (the opening Cage match with D-Bryan was a hoot, him overexagerating his 'YES!' is awesome).

The Divas thing was good for what it was, hell the Bellas looked hotter than normal, looks like they are going with a 'I don't need underlings' for Beth Phoenix, the way she handled the post match 'celebration'.

John Cena got pummeled by Kane, which was great. How often do you see Cena coming out on the losing end and left laying.

Punk vs Ziggler was very solid, and entertaining.

And the Rumble itself has JUST the right amount of comedy to make it exceedingly entertaining.

I haven't laughed that much at a Rumble sequence in a long time as to when Ricardo Rodriguez came out in his beat up old Datsun with card board over one of the windows.

if you can't laugh at THAT, and be entertained, I question why you even bother watching wrestling.

I'm still smiling, that Rumble was fun, I don't care what any of the haters say. My co-workers were wondering what was so funny, I was laughing so hard at that sequence.

I watched it over a friend's house last night; I was entertained. Marked out big for Road Dogg, and the crowd did too (I'm surprised no one's mentioned the "YOU STILL GOT IT!" chants from the crowd). Kharma's return was nice (I wish she eliminated one or two more guys though), but I really think that the 3 announcers entering would've been better suited for the 40-man Rumble.

Now, you'd think I'd complain that Jericho lost, and while it is true that it makes little sense story-wise (what're they building to?!), they're legitimately building a future star in Sheamus, which is what we want, right? I was pleasantly surprised.

With that said, I'm happy. Good show.
