411’s WWE SMACKDOWN REPORT 4.20.12

Reminder, I do not rate matches that are under three minutes long…

-Opening video package.

-Seriously, we’re only 9-days away from Extreme Rules? Damn.

-Daniel Bryan makes his way to the ring to kick off the show. Bryan starts off with a “YES,” because that’s what he said at WM when he came to the ring as the world champion. But after 18-seoncds, it is like his world title reign even existed. Sheamus didn’t outwrestle him, Sheamus took the cowards way out. He waited until Bryan was distracted and as his back was turned, he got kicked in the face. Just like he did to that poor referee. But at Extreme Rules he will not be distracted. And if Sheamus so much as touches the referee, he will be fired. And at Extreme Rules, we return to the city that saw him send shockwaves around the world as he won MITB. And at Extreme Rules, he will do the same as he did before, shock the world. He will beat Sheamus twice in their 2 of 3 falls match, and it will not be a fluke. It will be undeniable that he should be the champion. And as an added treat, he will wrestle and out wrestle Sheamus like a real man. And all questions will be answered. Will it mean Sheamus took the coward’s way out? YES! Will he walk out the champion? YES! YES! YES!

AJ comes out to the ring now, but Bryan tells her to turn around and go away. She refuses as he asks if she is here to distract him again. She didn’t want to do things this way, but she wants to talk about their problems. Bryan says he has no problems, he HAD a problem and he got rid of it. AJ says she knows they can work things out, but she just wanted to wish him good luck. He wishes she never came out here, and wishes he never met him and wishes he never said YES to her. And come to think about it, he wishes she was never born. AJ is a sad panda as Bryan laughs, and also says that there is no chance he would ever take her back, and he leaves.

AJ vs. Natalya

AJ looks devastated as the bell rings. Natalya tries to console AJ, who then slaps her and goes bat shit crazy and kicks the living shit out of Natalya in the corner. The ref tries to pull her off, fails a few times and we have a DQ here. AJ breaks down and cries in the ring. The match never officially started, but we’ll assume it was a DQ.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Natalya via DQ
RATING: NR

-AJ to the floor and looks like she cannot believe what she just did.

-Damien Sandow is here to discuss ignorance, because he is here to help us.

-Clay is out and has them cut the music. He has to say his little brother was supposed to be here. He has the girls go get his little brother. He says we’ll love him, and introduces…Hornswoggle, who is dressed like Clay.

Brodus Clay vs. Hunico w/Camacho

Hunico gets the jobber’s entrance, as in already in the ring. Hunico talks shit, Clay shakes, and Horsnwoggle is in. He shakes, and Hunico shoves him down. Clay on the attack, bats down Hunico. Off the ropes and a big backdrop. Nails Camacho. SHOO-PLEX! Big splash and that is all.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Brodus Clay @ 1:00 via pin

-Hornswoggle up top and gives Hunico the tadpole slash. Dance party time.

-Teddy Long walks and searches for Aksana. Titus O’Neil and Darren Young show up and say that Long wouldn’t sign them to Smackdown. Big Johnny is there, and says he brought them here. They tell Teddy that they are what the people want. They mock Teddy and say that this is really people power. Johnny says that he wears a lot of hats, and will allow Teddy to do the same. He puts on a Queen’s guard hat, and reminds him that they do not talk.

-Matt Striker talks with Randy Orton. Striker discusses the attack by Kane on Orton and his father. We see the footage from last week. Striker asks about Cowboy Bob, and Randy says he will be fine in time. As for Kane, he says he became a monster again, one he always should have been. But at Extreme Rules, they have a match, a falls count anywhere match. Kane will find out how sick and twisted he can be.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey) vs. Titus O’Neil and Darren Young

Young in to begin for his team, works shoulder blocks, but Jimmy takes him down. Tag to Jey, rights follow. To the corner, reversal and chops by Jey. Tag back to Jimmy, double back elbows and a cover gets 2. Boot to Jimmy, Young lays the boots to him and then tags in O’Neil. O’Neil slams him to the mat following an atomic drop by Young and covers for 2. O’Neil lays the boots to Jimmy, tag back to Young and uppercuts by O’Neil. Young in and nails a neck breaker for 2. Body scissors by Young, into a side headlock. Jimmy battles back with a right. Tag to Jey, sidekick, and then the Samoan drop. Young to the corner, Samoan clambake by Jey gets 2 as O’Neil makes the save. Jimmy sent to the floor, O’Neil blind tags in and they get a double team spinebuster-second rope clothesline combo for the win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Titus O’Neil and Darren Young @ 3:00 via pin
RATING: NR

-We get a video package, Raw Rebound, for Jericho vs. Punk.

Non-Title Match: Big Show © vs. Alberto Del Rio

Rights and a head butt by Show to begin. Del Rio battles back with kicks, gets tossed down and then slammed to the corner. Chops follow, Del Rio begs off and Show stands on him in the corner. Shhhhhhhhhhh…CHOP by Show. Slams Del Rio down, off the ropes and an elbow drop follows and Show covers for 2. Show now chokes out Del Rio, rights to the gut by Show, misses a clothesline, and Del Rio chop blocks him. Del Rio lays the boots to Show now, looks for the arm breaker, but Show fights it off. Del Rio continues to work the arm, and then more kicks to Show. Back to the arm goes Del Rio. Show fights back, Del Rio counters the chokeslam and chop blocks the leg again. Single arm DDT by Del Rio, looks for the arm breaker but Show escapes and slams down Del Rio. BOTH men are down, the ref counts, Show with chops from one knee and then clotheslines to Del Rio. To the corner, backsplash by Show and then the spear. Show looks for the chokeslam, goozle, Rodriguez on the apron, Cody Rhodes in with the beautiful disaster and Del Rio steals the pin.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Alberto Del Rio @ 5:00 via pin
RATING: **

-Cody attacks Show after the match, which angers Show and Cody runs away through the crowd.

Hey guys, Tony Acero here, and you’re stuck with me for the second hour so that Boss Man can tend to other things. So if you see a change in tone, don’t blame Csonka, it’s all me from here on out.

-In the back, Heath Slater is watching a jobber do the “Imma get my wig split” dance and possibly remembering the days when he was that guy…Drew McIntyre comes up and mockingly wonders who is going to win the following match.

Ryback vs. Danny Merman

Merman is 175 and wants to dedicate this match to his mum. Should somebody call her? Lerman gives Ryback a kick to the thighg that does nothing, only to try another one and get trip slammed to the mat. Ryback lifts Lerman up by his head and hits a Fall Away Slam. He’s calling for a clothesline while Heath, in the back, wants to bet Drew on the match. Ryback hits a hard clothesline then calls for a finish. Sets up for the T-Bone, lifts into a backbreaker, and finally hits a Samoan Drop.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Ryback @ 1:11 via pin

-In case you missed it last week, we get the Brock Lesnar interview where he stressed the importance of him bringing legitimacy back to the sport that is wrestling. He speaks of his domination everywhere except the NFL and reminds us just who the hell he is. Seeing glimpses of the old WWE belt really makes me miss it.

Backstage, Teddy Long is dressed up like a British Guard as Regal stops by and pesters him, testing his ability to not be deterred from his job of guarding…an elevator. Regal leaves, and here comes Aksana and her sexy sax music. She’s with a dude, who she calls a close friend of hers and claims he wants to be a WWE Superstar. You may know the guy as Claudio. She asks Teddy why he’s all dressed up. Homeboy claims that he didn’t think Teddy had this particular job. Aksana mentions that Teddy used to have a very important job. Johnny Ace comes out, and shakes the hand of Antonio, then brings both Aksana and homeboy inside before whispering into Teddy’s ear about Antonio. Teddy keeps the stoic face the entire time…the man deserves a raise.

As Daniel Bryan’s music hits and Mathews describes the importance of the upcoming tag team match. While he’s doing so, Cole continuously screams YES YES YES! into the headset. Honestly, if they ever want the crowd to stop getting behind the chant, making Cole say it is probably the best you can do.

Sheamus, Randy Orton, and The Great Khali The Big Show vs. Daniel Bryan, Mark Henry, and Cody Rhodes

Before the match can actually start, Khali is clipped from behind by Cody before he enters the ring. Sheamus and Orton run to help Cody out as Bryan, Cody and Henry stand in the middle of the ring, glaoting. Orton looks extremely concerned and Sheamus just looks upset. Cody mockingly runs the ropes. Oh, that kidder. Khali is walked out, and it looks like we’re having a handicap match. Nope, wait, Khali is replaced with The Big Show.

We come back from a break with the match in progress, and Orton is getting in some rights to Cody, then a clothesline and a pin. Cody is quick to get out and tag in Bryan, but Bryan runs right into an arm drag. Bryan kicks Orton, though, and tags in Cody just as Sheamus gets tagged in. Cody and Sheamus, now. Lockup, and Sheamus sends Cody to the corner. The ref breaks it and Cody runs to his corner. We get a restart and Cody comes with the go-behind. Sheamus elbows out and hits the rights, then stomps Cody in the corner. Sheamus sends Cody to the corner, Cody hops over and lands into a Firemans. Finlay Roll and a pin for 1…NOPE. Sheamus twerks the arm as Cody backs him into the ropes. Cody with a hard knee to the gut, but Sheamus sends him to the ropes and bends over. Cody with the drop and slap only for Sheamus to fire back with a knee to the face and a pin for 2. Sheamus lifts up Cody and whips him then bends over. Cody with a neckbreaker attempt, but Sheamus sends him over the ropes onto the apron. Here comes the beat down as Sheamus gives the clubs. He ends with a suplex over the ropes, but cody lands on his feet. Sheamus is distracted by Bryan and turns right into a dropkick, sending him to the outside! Cody with a baseball slide, then distracts the ref long enough for Bryan to hit a dropkick. Bryan lifts Sheamus and sends him on the apron, then drops an elbow. A tag happened that I didn’t see. He drops an elbow then stomps on Sheamus as the crowd chants YES! A tag to Henry.

Henry stands atop Sheamus for the four count, then chokes him up on the ropes for a two count. Tag to Cody and henry kicks Sheamus again for good measure. Cody with some kicks then a hard right, and another kick, he stomps Sheamus in the corner! Cody is on fiyah! Cody attacks again in the corner then hooks the arms with the legs and gets a chinlock. Sheamus is up, though, and backs Cody into the corner. Cody trips up Sheamus, though, and Sheamus hits the second rope face first. Cody with the cover for 1. Cody with the front faced headlock. Cody is all over Sheamus. Sheamus lifts Cody and sends him flying, but Cody lands on his feet. Cody tries for the Beautiful Disaster, but Sheamus with an axe handle, breaks it. Tag to orton, and he comes in with some clothesline, scoop slam! Orton looks for the rope-assisted DDT. He hits it! The voices is bein heard, but Bryan flies in, right into a power slam!!! Mark Henry follows and hits Orton with a clothesline. Cody with a pin for 1…2…NO! Tag to Henry as we go for another break.

Henry has Orton’s head in his big mits then hits a headbutt and tags in Bryan, telling him to “Get You Some!” Love it! Bryan with some stomps, once again followed by a YES! or two from the crowd. Bryan sends Orton to the corner and hits a running dropkick, then pins for 1…2…NO! Bryan with the body slam. Bryan is up top. He goes for the headbutt, but Orton moves! Orton reaching for the tag, as Bryan reaches for…the air. Reg counts to 5 and we get a tag to Henry and Show! Show hits a right, then a clothesline, knocking Henry down. One more clothesline then a whip to the corner, and Show backs it up into Henry. Show hits the ropes, but Cody kicks him right in the back, allowing Henry to hit a clothesline out of the corner! Tag to Cody. Cody is working the legt arm, with some rights and a few knees. Cody tags in Bryan and Bryan continues the work on the upper arm and shoulder of Bryan’s left arm. Tag to Show, and Bryan holds the left arm, letting Show hit him in the pit. Headbutt from Henry. Henry with a hard kickk to the chest and a tag to Cody. Cody kicks the midsection then grabs the leg and drops an elbow, another. He sets up a figur four leg lock….He’s got it locked in! Show’s shoulders are down for 1…2..shoulder up. Cody reaches for a tag with the submission locked in. Henry comes in and hits a big splash, then Cody rolls out. Pin from Henry for 1…..2….NO! Tag to Bryan. Bryan with a DDT. Pin. 1….2..Show sends Bryan off of him and out of the ring! Show reaches for a tag, Bryan is in. Sheamus gets the tag! Axe handles from the World Champ! Clothesline in the corner onto Bryan! Sheamus misses a clothesline but hits a tilt-a-whirl slam! Cody runs in to break up the pin, slides out of the ring and is all smiles until he turns around, right into the WMD from Show! In the ring, Sheamus is trying to escape the Yes! Lock! He does, sending Bryan to the ropes. He goes for the Brogue kick, but Bryan ducks and tags in Henry. Henry comes in with a right, misses a clothesline, and Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick! Henry is shaken! Tag to Orton, Henry hangs on the ropes. Show with the WMD! Henry turns right into the RKO
