411’s IMPACT WRESTLING REPORT 5.24.12

Let the Pigeons Loose…

Reminder, I do not rate matches that are under three minutes long…

-Starting May 31st, IMPACT IS LIVE at 8PM ET.

-TNA has also signed Brooke Hogan.

-Opening video package.

-Hogan is in his office, reading the stats of the show off of the run sheet. He says Open Fight Night is opening eyes, and there will be changes. He shows off the run sheet, and says that this is what is supposed to happen tonight. Hogan asks Ray if he is ok with the sheet, and he says he is. Hogan is just reading off the sheet, BREAKING DOWN WALLS! Hogan says Roode is about to become the longest reigning champion in company history, and Hogan mentions that AJ holds the current record. Angle asks why it is important, and Hogan says this stuff is important to the fans. AJ mocks Angle for being a gold medallist, and AJ then says that they are equally important to each other. Hogan says that people have come and gone, and that these normal formats do not work anymore. He wants to change it. He asks them why they should get to challenge, and they argue a bit about who has won more titles. Hogan asks Ray why he deserves the spot, and Ray says, “I am putting you over right now” and says he shouldn’t have to convince him, and Ray also says he is like the guys Hogan went to war with, because he is legit IN A SHOOT. He respects Hogan, and will not bullshit him. Angle says that Ray isn’t the most intimidating, and Ray says he has not backed down, and they put each other over. AJ then says that Roode has been here a long time but AJ has been here longer, but AJ wants to end the streak and hold onto his record. Angle reminds AJ that he lost the last time they fought. AJ says that Daniels and Kaz cost him that match, and Ray says that Hardy’s plan of not saying anything is working. He then drops that Angle’s son loves him and that the fans should decide. Hogan says that Roode may be hated, but there is good there. He has been a constant. But it is too a point that Roode is controlling things and he has to be stopped. Hogan thinks that they can all beat Roode, but Ray hasn’t won the big one yet, and he is eliminated. Ray questions his decision, and Ray says that Bischoff was right about Hogan and leaves.

-Taz and Tenay welcome us to the show.

-Gail Kim comes to the ring and says that being her is great. Madison is with her, fixing her hair, and Kim says that she is the most dominant Knockouts Champion in the company’s history. She built the division, and SHE IS the division. It al revolves around her, and she would even say that she is the most important woman in the company. There is one blemish against her, and that is the act that EY and ODB hold the Knockouts tag team titles. In honor of Fight Night, she challenges them for a match.

Non-Title Match: ODB and Eric Young © vs. Gail Kim and Madison Rayne

EY and Kim to begin. Lock up, and Kim works the arm. EY with the reversal, but Kim works a headlock. Reversal by EY, but knees by Kim breaks that. EY with the go behind and ODB yells at him, so he drops her. Tag to ODB, rights to Kim. Breast bump follows, and then the sack of shit slam. We head to a commercial @ 1:00.

Back from commercial @ 6:00 with Kim hitting a clothesline on OBD and covering for 2. Tag to Rayne, she yells at ODB and then lays the boots to her. She celebrates and covers for 2. Rights by ODB, tag to Kim and they whip ODB to the corner. Rayne with the corner splash, and she argues with Kim, which allows ODB to spear Kim. Both ladies are down, tags to EY and Rayne. EY is conflicted and Rayne yells at him. She then slaps him, he strips down to his underwear and delivers hip tosses and body slams. ODB yells at EY, so he tags out and ODB runs wild. Running powerslam to Kim gets 2. She grabs Kim, who rakes the eyes and then Rayne trips up ODB, holds her legs down allowing Kim to get the win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Kim and Rayne @ 10:00 via pin

-Bobby Roode walks.

-Hogan is on the phone and apparently SOMEONE is on the way. “Holy shizz” Hogan says.

-RVD hits the ring, and says since he has been back he has been focused on regaining the title, but now he has business to settle. Gunner, GET OUT HERE BOY! We then get highlights of the PPV where Gunner took out RVD for months.

Gunner vs. RVD

-TV Champion Devon makes his way to the ring. Devon says a few weeks ago Hogan said that he had to defend the title every week. And that is hat he plans on doing, be a fighting champion. But last week he had a chance in a battle royal for a shot at the title, and in that match, Garett Bischoff eliminated him, so he respects him for that. So tonight, he gives Garett a shot at the title.

TV Title Match: Devon © vs. Garett Bischoff

They shake before the match and here we go. Lock up and a headlock by Devon. Takedown by Devon, Garett works to get back to his feet, off the roped and a spinning back elbow by Devon. -The Robbies beat down Devon, and Devon battles back and Garett now helps him. The Robbies are slammed together, corner splash by Garett and then one by Devon. They clear the ring and the faces stand tall. RESPECT.

-Hogan is backstage and he discusses who will be eliminated next. He puts over Angle and all he has done, and then says Hardy has been a constant professional. Angle says Hardy is popular and AJ is athletic, but Angle can get the job done. Hogan again says Roode has to be stopped, and then eliminates Hardy due to the fact that he has been shaky lately. Hardy leaves and Angle says that Hogan has to choose soon so that they can get ready. Hogan says they will do this in the ring and for both of them to get ready. Angle again promises to get the job done.

-We get a video package on Joseph Park’s brother, Chris, you know, Abyss!

-Bully Ray makes his way to the ring, and he does not look happy. Perhaps livid. Ray has the mic and asks, “DO YOU KNOW I AM?” He asks again and says that Hogan must have forgotten, since he decided that Ray was the first one eliminated from getting a title shot. He is in a BAD FRICKEN MOOD. PISSED OFF EVEN. And is he is pissed off, then that means, he will take it out on the fans. He says he can go and smack them all in their mouths right now. And then, as if life wasn’t bad enough, someone mentioned that Joseph Park is there. We see Park eating popcorn in the audience. Ray is tired of him showing up, and then demands that Park gets into the ring. We get YES chants for Park, who then asks for a mic. He says that he is not a fighter, not a wrestler and heck, he has never been in a real fight. He says he is intimidated and begs for space. Ray backs off and Park enters the ring. He then says that all he ever wanted was answers about Abyss. After all the facts that he gathered, they all led him to Ray. But over the years he has represented a lot of people, some guilty, and some not guilty. And over the years, he has learned to look into a man’s eyes to see if he is guilty. But he is simply an attorney. Crowd chants guilty. Park then says under the constitution, Ray is due a fair and speedy trial in front of a jury of his peers. He thinks they have a jury right here. In the case of the disappearance of his brother, Chris, you know, Abyss, who thinks Ray is not guilty. BOOOOOOOO. Who thinks Ray is guilty. YAAAAAAAY!. Ray drops Park and looks extra pissed. Ray has his chain, and whips Park down with it. He then lays beside him and says, “not guilty.”

-We get a video package for Joey Ryan.

-Borash is in the ring with Al Snow and Joey Ryan. Ryan says he is ready and says to bring on his opponent., who is…Austin Aries!

PLANCHA by Aries ad he then tosses Ryan back into the ring. Aries up top, and Ryan crotches him and covers for 2. Ryan struts, and Aries rips out some of his chest hair, and for that Aries eats a dropkick and covers for 2. Pump handle try by Ryan, Aries fights back and gets the spinning elbow.
