411’s IMPACT WRESTLING REPORT 8.16.12 (Episode 423)

Reminder, I do not rate matches that are under three minutes long…

-Opening video package.

-We are LIVE in Orlando!

-Austin Aries makes his way to the ring as they discuss the drama from Sunday’s title match. Aries brings up Roode calling him a fluke since he initially won the title, noting that he has had to hear the word over, and over, and over again. He heard it so many times, he almost believed it himself. But at the PPV, he defeated Roode for the second time, and he erased the doubts. He says if you were a doubter to go “FLUK” yourself. He is not a placeholder, he is the face of TNA moving forward, and he will do what he wants. He runs the show, and as long as he runs the show, and IMPACT will not be held hostage. He addresses Aces and Eights, noting that they are always around. Be sure, no matter who is behind Aces and Eights, and no matter who wins the BFG Series, he will remain the champion.

Jeff Hardy now makes his way to the ring, which is surprising. Hardy claps for Aries, and grabs a mic. Aries asks why he is out here, and Hardy says hello to his creatures. He then says that he doesn’t understand what has been going on around here, but what he does know is that he has been chasing that title, and shakes Aries’ hand. Hardy says he will win the series, and they will tear it up at BFG. Aries says they would tear it up. Hardy then says Aces and Eights cost his points at the PPV, and he dares them to come to the ring.

That brings out Bully Ray. Ray says he is stupid, and then says he will explain really slowly. James Storm is behind Aces and Eights. Do you not get it? He knew Matt was always smarter, but do you not get this? They said they were coming for Ray at the PPV, and as they came out, Storm superkicked him. Later in the match, when he was laid out, Hardy had Storm in trouble. Aces and Eights came back down, but Storm got booted and Ray got lucky when he put Jeff through the table. He got the 20, he beat Jeff, and he will go to BFG to win the title. Aries asks to talk to the calves, since they are the brains of Bully, and says Bully has an issue. Aries already made tap out. Aries then says that Ray has ambition, and maybe HE has something to do with Aces and Eights. Ray says again that Storm is behind it all, and Aries says the winner of the BFG series has to go through him, and no one has done it yet.

Aces and Eights appear via Black Scorpion vision, to say that they are about luck and commitment. They say Ray got lucky on Sunday. They commit that tonight, they will make their presence felt in a big way. See you guys later…

Ray tells Aries and Hardy to smarten up and we head to a commercial…

-Highlights from Hardcore Justice air.

-Magnus discusses having to face Samoa Joe tonight.

-Madison Rayne discusses winning the Knockouts Title at the PPV, “clean and with no help.” She is informed that Brooke Hogan wants to see her in the ring.

-Madison Rayne makes her way to the ring. Rayne says she is excited about her win, and that Brooke Hogan wants to see her tonight, in the ring. The queen is once again your Knockouts Champion. So tonight, thanks to her girl Brooke, they will party, and she hopes Brooke brings cake. She then says a great referee is behind a great woman, and says eh would not be here without her man, Earl Hebner. She sees him and tells him to come to the ring, because she has something special for him. She says he is the man that stole her heart, and the wind beneath her wings. She gives him a big hug, and here comes Brooke Hogan. Brooke says that this is the behavior issues she was talking about. She says she has known Earl her whole life, and that there is shady stuff going on here tonight. She then says Earl will no longer referee any Knockouts matches. Brooke then says that Brooke Tessmacher gets her rematch tonight, and since it is so special, she is bringing in a special referee. And we will meet her…tonight. Brooke agrees and hits the ring, and Rayne bails. Brooke tells Rayne to get in the ring and says she is not afraid of anything. ACES AND EIGHTS ARRIVE! They corner her, and Ray, Aries, and Hardy make the save. Here is James Storm pulling in last. Hmmmm….

-Replay of what just happened.

-Sting is in the ring and calls Aces and Eights cowards. Angle, Hardy and Aries are in the ting with him, and he says that they have a pack right here to combat them. So he says that they have all called them out, next week, live, open fight night. He challenges then to a fight at the open of the show.

-Daniels and Kaz are in the back, and they have a copy of a Spider-Man comic, where they are in the back cover. They mock AJ a bit, and also thought he had better taste in women. AJ appears, says he was drugged, and had to be to SLEEP WITH A FOOT like Claire. AJ says if Daniels wins tonight, he will accept he is the father. If he loses, he will get a paternity test. Wait, what? Daniels name drops Maury Povich, and Kaz then hypes him up for their match.

Bound for Glory Series Match: AJ Styles vs. Daniels w/Kaz

Before the bell, AJ calls shenanigans and the referee tosses Kaz. Daniels tries to run early, gets a roll up and the ropes, but is busted by the ref. Rights by AJ in the corner, chops follow. Off the ropes, big backdrop by AJ. Daniels now begs off, off the ropes and a clothesline by AJ, who covers for 2. We head to a commercial @ 3:00.

We are back from a commercial @ 6:00, with Daniels in control with a side headlock. Off the ropes, counters and AJ with the dropkick to Daniels. He covers for 2. AJ now locks in the reverse deathlock applied. Daniels manages to escape, and AJ now works a single leg crab. He then transitions back to the reverse deathlock, but Daniels bites the hands and escapes. Rights by AJ, but Daniels back with the stun gun off the ropes. Clothesline to the back of the head, and Daniels takes back control and covers for 2. Daniels whips AJ to the corner, and then celebrates a bit. Daniels with boots to the gut, backdrop suplex by Daniels, and that is good enough for 2. Final cut neck breaker, and Daniels gets 2 again. Daniels then covers again and tries to use the ropes, gets caught, and then tosses AJ to the floor. OFFICIAL RESULT: AJ Styles @ 17:00 via pin
RATING: ***½

-AJ hits the clash after the match because he can.

-I guess TNA forgot that BFG Series matches has 15-minute time limits, not that I am complaining about a good match.

-Sting talks to Hulk on the phone, and says he will be there next week when he calls out Aces and Eights. Hogan says they have to fight, or they die. Sting asks if he is ready for old school, and Hogan says that is the only ay to go, and he has his back.

-James Storm is in the back and Jeff Hardy arrives. Hardy doesn’t care what people are saying, but he does care that he lost points. He thinks the whole deal is shady. Storm is sick and tired of being accused of this, and says Sting wants people to help fight, and Storm says he will fight anyone, any place and any time. Storm says he will be out during his match tonight, to make sure Aces and Eights do not show up.

-Bobby Roode walks.

-We get a video package of the Roode vs. Aries feud.

-Bobby Roode makes his way to the ring. Roode grabs a mic and looks like a sad panda. He says on Sunday, he had the chance to win the title and right the wrong. A chance to come out here and prove that what he had been saying was true. That Aries winning was a fluke. He proved that, because he defeated him in the middle of this ring. Brian Hebner counted to three and raised his hand in victory. But of course, one thing led to another, and the match was restarted, a match he won, and as a result of that, he stands here empty handed. He should be standing thee the champion, but with the stipulation set, he doesn’t get a rematch, and without the title belt. You people do not understand what it meant to him, it was everything, his life. When people think champion they think of him. When they think of him, they think world champion. He looked in the mirror, and came to the conclusion that there is only one person to blame for this. Austin Aries. And Sting. And the referees. And hell, the fans as well. They are all to blame, because he gave everything, but they disrespected him. And now, now what? He plans to…well he drops the mic. He leaves the ring.

-We get a preview for next week’s Gutcheck competitor. His brother got him into wrestling, and we learn that his brother got shot and that he died. He is doing this to make his brother proud. Pretty sure they never said his name.

-Brooke Hogan’s special referee for the title match is…Taryn Terrell, formerly Tiffany in WWE, and former wife of Drew McIntyre.

Knockouts Title Match: Madison Rayne © vs. Miss Tessmacher

Rayne in control early, Rayne celebrates and then points at Terrell to back her way. Rayne with the hair mare out of the corner, and then gets a northern lights suplex for 2. Rayne argues with our referee, and Tessmacher with a small package for 2. Another roll up for 2. Tessmacher misses a corner charge, Rayne with a cover and tights, but Terrell has none of that. Boots by Rayne, slams Tessmacher to the mat and then misses a kick. Spear by Tessmacher, they now trade rights as they get to their feet. Clotheslines by Tessmacher. Dropkick as well, faceplant by Tessmacher gets 2. Rayne battles back, to the corner and a boot by Tessmacher. Misses the 2nd rope cross body, and Rayne then covers, gets the ropes and gets busted. Terrell pulls her feet off the ropes, Rayne argues with her and then Tessmacher gets her faceplant deal and that is all.

OFFICIAL RESULT: NEW CHAMPION Miss Tessmacher @ 4:00 via pin
RATING: *

-Aces and Eights says that they have been waiting for an invitation, so be careful what you wish for, because next week they will be there in full force. They also say that they have unfinished business to take care of tonight.

Bound for Glory Series Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Bully Ray

Lock up and to the corner they go, and we get a clean break. Ray then backs off and here comes James Storm as promised. Ray asks him where his boys are, and Storm denies involvement. Lock up, clubbing shots to the back by Ray. Ray beats down Hardy, to the floor and then talks trash to Storm. He shoves Storm, basement dropkick from Hardy. Flying forearm off of the apron by Hardy and we head to a commercial @ 2:00.

Back from commercial @ 6:00, with Ray back in control. Storm watches on from the floor, and Ray sets and gets a corner clothesline on Hardy. Ray now stands on his hair for a bit and then drops the elbow for 2. Head scissors by Ray, who discusses the greatness of his calves, and then decides to let go and deliver a suplex on Hardy, and covers for 2. Hardy fights back, but then runs into a back elbow. Ray off the ropes, and MISSES a splash. Hardy to his feet, they trade rights, and off the ropes and clotheslines by Hardy. Atomic drop by Hardy, basement dropkick as well and a cover gets 2. Ray back with the uranage, and that gets a close 2. Ray now picks up Hardy, Bully bomb countered, and a mule kick lands for Hardy. Corner dropkick by Hardy connects. A clothesline follows, and Hardy up top. SWANTON connects, and that gets a CLOSE 2! Ay to the floor and Storm backs off and doesn’t do a thing. Hardy with the slingshot dive, but Ray pulls Storm into the way and Hardy wipes put Storm. Ray and Hardy back in, to the corner and chops by Ray. Boots by Hardy, whisper in the wind connects. BOTH men are down. Aces and Eights hit the ring, and they have a chain and here comes Aries and AJ to run them off. Ray goes after Hardy, but Hardy hits the twist of fate and Hardy rolls up Ray for the win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Jeff Hardy @ 13:00 via pin
RATING: **¾

-Ray lays out Hardy after the match, and then grabs his chain. Storm is up and Ray blames Storm for this again. Hardy is up and as Storm goes to superkick Ray, Ray moves and Storm nails Hardy. Ray says he told us so in regards to Storm.

BUT WHOSE SIDE IS HE ON?

Storm looks in on Hardy and Aces and Eights are out, and they stand behind Storm and clap. But then they beat him down!
