WWE MAIN EVENT 10.03.12 (Episode 1)
-Michael Cole welcomes us to the show. He will be joined by The Miz on commentary tonight. Cole and Miz are in the ring to kickoff the show, and hype Sheamus vs. CM Punk for later tonight. Cole discusses that Punk is on the top of the mountain right now, as Miz agrees that Punk has a claim to the best in the world name.

-We get a video package for CM Punk (looks like from his DVD, nice), discussing that he never should have made it. He discusses his persona, and it is filled with old Indy footage. We also get OVW footage, and we see Paul Heyman discussing that no one knew what to do with Punk, they just signed him because he had buzz. Great video package, and it was also a nice way to hype the DVD at the same time.

-CM Punk is backstage warning up with Paul Heyman. Matt Striker is there to interview him. He asks him about the champion vs. champion match, and Punk says it doesn’t get any bigger than that. Pink discusses the disrespect, and says he will defeat Sheamus and then maybe then he will get the respect he has earned. Heyman says that Punk is the best in the world.

-Back in the ring, and Miz says they all want to be the best, and if they don’t, then they need to get out.

-We head to Sheamus in the back, who is with Josh Matthews. Sheamus mocks Punk’s quest for respect, and then says he will show Punk respect by shoving his boot down Punk’s throat.

-We get a video package, highlighting Sheamus’ WWE career.

Lock up to begin, Sheamus uses his power and they go to the ropes and break. Lock up again, side headlock by Punk. Top wristlock now by Sheamus, headlock takedown and Sheamus is in control early. Punk works to his feet, but Sheamus takes him back down. Sheamus continues to work the headlock, Punk then shoots him off the ropes and a shoulder block by Sheamus gets 1. Headlock takedown again by Sheamus, Punk back up and shoots Sheamus off the ropes again and a shoulder block by Sheamus connects. Off the ropes, but Punk connects with the leg lariat. Sheamus counters a corner charge, up top and Punk tosses him down to the floor…

~commercial time~

We are back from the commercial break as Punk beats on the chest of Sheamus, who then counters and fires back. Rights by Sheamus in the corner, lays the boots to Punk and then Punk pulls him into the corner. Snap mare and kick to the back by Punk. A knee drop follows and works a hammerlock and slams Sheamus to the corner. Basement dropkick by Punk, and Sheamus is down in the corner. Punk connects with a neck breaker, and gets a cover for 2. Punk works a headlock, Sheamus works to his feet and then connects with the axe handle. Shoulder block in the corner by Sheamus and the high knee then follows. Running powerslam by Sheamus gets 2. Punk rolls to the apron, and Sheamus grabs him and Punk fires back with a kick to the head, and then covers for 2…

~commercial time~

We are back from the commercial break as Sheamus is down on the floor. Punk in the ring, and charges ad eats a forearm as he tries a suicide dive. Slingshot shoulder block by Sheamus gets 2. Sheamus looks for the brogue kick, but Punk tries to bail. Sheamus attacks, and pulls off a turnbuckle pad. Sheamus catches Punk and cave sin his chest with repeated shots. White noise connects for Sheamus, and a cover gets a CLOSE 2. Sheamus with knee drops to the back of Punk, looks for the cloverleaf but Punk rakes the eyes and kicks him off. High knee in the corner by Punk, and a clothesline follows. Punk up top, elbow drop connects! Punk covers for 2. Punk calls for the GTS, snatches up Sheamus, who counters and trips up Punk and locks in the cloverleaf! Punk struggles to make the ropes, and makes it. Sheamus has to break, and Punk rolls to the corner with the exposed buckle. Sheamus goes after Punk, who fires back and then Punk runs into the Irish Curse back breaker. Sheamus sets for the brogue kick, MISSES and gets tripped into the exposed buckle. Punk covers, grabs the tights, and that is all.

-After the match Matt Striker tries to get a word with Sheamus. Sheamus grabs the mic and says that for the last few months, all he has heard about is Punk and his demands for respect. The way the match resulted, that is the reason that Punk doesn’t get respect. He will not cry and make excuses, he will take it on the chin. But when he meets Punk again, he promises that Punk will take it on the chin, from a brogue kick.

-Miz and Cole discuss how Punk won the match, with Miz defending Punk’s actions.

-After the break, CM Punk is here again to discuss his victory. Josh Matthews says the victory was controversial. Heyman chime sin and says Punk just defeated the world champion, and that should be enough to earn respect and to be called best in the world. Matthews says there is pressure every week for Punk to face Cena at HIAC. Heyman asks how Matthews got the job, and says once again the WWE champion beat the world champion. Punk is a future hall of famer and best in the world, and then they basically tell Matthews to get the hell out.

-Next week the Big Show battles Randy Orton in the main event on the show.

-Matt Striker is with The Big Show. Show cuts off Striker and says next week, it will be Orton’s last appearance on the show, as he introduces Orton to the WMD once again. His fist will be the last thing Orton sees.

-We get an inset interview as Ryder and Santino make their way to the ring.

Tag Team Tournament Match: Santino and Zack Ryder vs. Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd

Santino and Gabriel to begin. Go behind by Gabriel, Santino escapes and they trade holds and a side headlock by Gabriel. Gabriel tries to remain in control, off the ropes and a hip toss countered by Gabriel, and then Santino throws a weak leg kick, and Gabriel about laughs at him. Ryder and Kidd tag in, off the ropes and Kidd uses his speed, flapjack by Ryder and a cover for 2. Drop toehold by Kidd, bridge and Gabriel in with a dropkick to the face of Ryder, and Gabriel covers for 2. Double teams work on Ryder, and Kidd gets a cover for 2. Front facelock by Kidd, to the corner and tags in Gabriel. Sunset flip by Gabriel for 2. Ryder counters a suplex, Blind tag to Kidd and he kicks Ryder in the face. Springboard elbow by Kidd gets 2 as Santino makes the save. Santino and Gabriel to the floor, and Kidd with a kick to the face of Ryder. Sunset flip by Kidd gets 2. To the corner, knees to the face by Ryder and Ryder connects with the broski boot, Santino in off the tag and Ryder takes Gabriel to the floor. COBRA connects on Kidd, and that is all.

-Ryder and Santino celebrate their victory.

-Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara, The Rhodes Scholars and now Santino and Zack Ryder have move don in the tournament. Prime Time Players vs. Kofi Kingston and R Truth in the final opening round match takes place Friday on Smackdown.
