-Hello everyone, and welcome to tonight’s Monday Night Raw coverage!
-“The Kennection to All Things Wrestling” Ken Hill here with the LIVE coverage of Monday Night’s little piece of pro-wrestling nirvana, RAW!
-With Survivor Series in the books, what everyone is talking about is the WWE Title match. CM Punk did retain the title, pinning John Cena to bring his continuing reign to 1 full calendar year, but what’s on everyone’s mind is the appearance of NXT competitors Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns near the end of the match, ambushing and driving “The Big Hungry” Ryback through the announce table, mere moments from him winning the championship. The three men are expected to be here tonight, so what will the explanation be for their action? Will Punk once again deny involvement in the outside interference of a title match? And what vengeance will Ryback undoubtedly have in store for the NXT wrestlers?
-Stay tuned, as RAW begins shortly!
-The Impact-esque recap of Survivor Series with the voice in the background. It shows The Big Show and Punk both retaining under controversial circumstances.
-We start off with a BANG! as Ryback storms his way down to the ring. Ryback waists no time in accusing Punk of employing the three NXT men to take food out of a starving man’s mouth. He demands they come out, or he will tear the place apart, and I don’t doubt he could. Vickie is out, and says that won’t happen. She likes his destructive habits, and hopes he enjoys snacking on this…and out comes Tensai!
Ryback with a big knockdown, but Tensai comes back, splashing him in the corner. Ryback, however, shrugs it off, knocking Tensai down with a Thesz press and slamming his head into the mat. Meathook misses, and Tensai hits the chokebomb and senton that doesn’t even get a 1 count, as Ryback is right back up, clotheslining him over the rope to the floor. He drives Tensai into the ring post and shoves him into the ring, lining him up for the Meathook. It connects, and the Shell-Shock comes soon after, this time without fail on the 350-pounder. Three count.
Winner: Ryback
-We go to the back and see Sheamus downright bitching the ref out that made the three count in his World Title match with Big Show, Punk’s celebration of his year-long WWE Championship reign, followed by Kofi Kingston and Wade Barrett WALKING to the ring for their match following Barrett pinning the IC Champion last night at Survivor Series. That match is NEXT!
I see Barrett’s brought back the rose jacket, nice touch. We see a post-match video from last night, where Barrett has designs on taking the IC Championship from Kingston. Lock up with Barrett hitting a shoulder block, Kofi floats over twice and hits a dropkick for two. Barrett with a few rights and takes Kofi to the corner for more punches, but Kofi rebounds with a corner press and a uppercut for two. Barrett reverses a whip into a front chancery and an elbow to the neck. He takes Kofi to the corner for more punches to the midsection. Kofi fights out briefly, but Barrett comes back with a snapmare, a kick, then a neckbreaker for two. Barrett hooks him up in the ropes for his signature boot, hits it, and Kofi falls to the floor as we go to break…
We’re back as Barrett has Kofi grounded, and we see why as he hit a big boot on Kingston during the break. Kofi tries to fight out, but Barrett knocks him down again. He ties Kofi in the ropes, and hits another boot. Barrett comes out on the floor and hammers Kofi face-first into the steps. Back in the ring, a shot to Kofi’s ribs gets a near fall for Barrett. Shots to Kofi’s face and midsection gets another near fall. Modified camel clutch by Barrett. Kofi struggles out with rights and kicks. Winds of Change countered into a roll-up for two. Kick by Kofi sends Barrett to the outside. Barrett comes back, and Kofi fires up with some punches. Kofi lays Barrett out for the Boom Drop, but the eye Barrett attacked bothers him and Barrett counters into the Winds of Change for a near fall. Kofi comes back with a slingshot kick and cross body off the top for a near fall. SOS gets another near fall. Barrett stops Kofi, raking his bad eye across the ropes and then nails the Bullhammer elbow for the three count, pinning the IC Champion.
Winner: Wade Barrett
-We recap the situation with the NXT stars, Brad Maddox, and how it all seems to revolve around Punk’s recent “lucky streak” as champion. We then see Maddox’s story again, from his explanation to his “dream” match with Ryback ending up with him going away in an ambulance.
-Heyman backstage, gushing about how great the celebration of Punk’s year as WWE Champion will be. Punk comes out of his locker room, seeming a little paranoid. Heyman starts in on big tonight will be. Matt Striker (apparently now with plain-as-day porn-stache) interrupts, question Punk’s possible involvement with Rollins, Ambrose, Reigns, as well as the situation with Ryback. Punk starts in on him, but Heyman wards him off, suggesting that Striker just sit back and celebrate like everyone should tonight, because everyone’s invited, even Ryback, which has Punk’s eyebrows raised in alarm as he wants to talk to Paul.
Aksana looks like she wants no part of Kaitlyn and leaves, only to sneak in a clothesline when Kaitlyn tries to get her back in the ring. Aksana works and wrenches the arm of Kaitlyn. Arm lock by Aksana on Kaitlyn, who’s then thrown into the corner turnbuckle. Kaitlyn counters a charge with an elbow. Hair pull takedowns by Kaitlyn, then a shoulder knockdown. Face-first slam, then the gutbuster finishes off Aksana for three.
Winner: Kaitlyn
-We hear about the “2 out of 3 falls” match between Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio scheduled for later tonight.
-Advert of the “The Soup meets WWE”, which does look pretty funny.
-R-Truth out to scout the next match, apparently sans Little Jimmy.
Brodus takes it to Cesaro early with a corner splash, but Cesaro fights back with elbows and headbutts. Takedown and a mushroom stomp by Cesaro. Neck vice by Cesaro, but Brodus fights out with a headbutt. Clay knocks him down, but misses a Vader bomb. Second-rope uppercut, then a BIG Neutralizer by Cesaro polishes off Clay. Truth looks on stunned as the US Champ picks up the three count and stares him down.
Winner: Antonio Cesaro
-Adverts of a dying Make-A-Wish patient meeting with John Cena, and Cena achieving the “300 Wishes” award. Say what you will about the man’s wrestling, he’s got a heart as big as his arms.
-Vickie Guerrero talking backstage with some workers, and we hear about how she has “EVEN MORE” evidence against AJ. Look, either get to the payoff quick here or not. In my eyes, this has been the one real downside to RAW lately, as the crowd treats it like a bad “Jerry Springer” segment, which this pretty much is.
-Recap of AJ embarrassing Vickie last night and Tamina’s unexpected assault of AJ. Vickie out now, with those same people she was talking with earlier. Vickie doesn’t understand why AJ can’t follow her leadership like Tamina Snuka, or why she would be accused of manufacturing evidence. Apparently, the people who are out here are “witnesses” to the affair. The first is a waitress named Whitney Smith. Whitney said Cena and AJ asked specifically for a private table and were being very touchy-feely. Mr. Brady, a parking attendant, claimed to have had a family complain about how AJ and Cena were apparently canoodling in a car. AJ out, and tells Vickie to cut the crap with all the doctored stuff she brings out week after week. If Vickie wants to fire her, do so. Otherwise, shut the hell up. She claims to have a picture of them in the car, but Cena’s out. He says it’s all a load of garbage, and Vickie’s just doing this to have something to talk about. He says THIS is how you get people to talk, and lays a big kiss on AJ. He’s living the dream of every person on 411Mania! He turns to snark at Vickie, only to have AJ practically smother him with a kiss, and Vickie’s downright stunned! Dolph Ziggler out to assault Cena, and John fights him off and chases him up the ramp, although it looks like Cena may have tweaked his knee as he hobble-runs up the ramp.
-Sheamus versus Damien Sandow is announced, and the 2-out-of-3 falls match between Del Rio and Orton is NEXT!
First fall: Clothesline by Orton for a quick two count. Del Rio with a snapmare and a kick to the back for two. Orton fires back with a dropkick, but Del Rio out at one. Del Rio bashes Orton into the turnbuckle, then a snap suplex for two. Clothesline misses, and Orton hits a suplex, then a stomp. Orton stalks Del Rio, who hits a snap kick to Orton’s left arm. Cross arm breaker attempt countered, and Orton shoves Del Rio to the floor. Del Rio back up and lays out Orton, then rolls him back in and starts bashing his bad arm into the ring post. He goes beyond the five count doing so and is DQ’ed.
Winner: Randy Orton by DQ
Second fall: Del Rio with an armbar, then a kick to Orton’s bad arm. Del Rio cinches the arm back in. Orton fights out with a back suplex. Clothesline, clothesline, powerslam. He psyches up, but Del Rio wrings the arm, then locks in the Cross Arm Breaker, and Orton taps!
Winner: Alberto Del Rio
Third fall: Orton cautious with his bad left arm. Del Rio shoves him into the corner. Orton counters another whip with a float-over roll-up for two. Del Rio comes back, however, with an enziguri kick to the left arm for a near fall. Orton comes back, but Rodriguez trips him up, only to get booted by the ref. Backstabber by Del Rio nets a close near fall. Del Rio mocks a RKO attempt, but Orton counters into the hangman DDT. RKO countered into the Cross Arm Breaker. Orton manages to roll him up for two to break the hold. Del Rio shoves him to the corner, enziguri attempt misses, and Orton nails the RKO for the third fall and the win!
Winner: Randy Orton
-Recap of the two-tongue tango by AJ and Cena, then Ziggler’s sneak attack on Cena, after which Cena looks like he twisted an ankle or tore his meniscus as he chased Dolph up the ramp. We go to the back in the doctor’s room, where Cena is being taped up with AJ faithfully at his side. Say it with me, D’AWWWW!
Hornswoggle out, as he apparently has the hots for Rosa like Del Rio does. Rosa looks interested, but it’s a trick bouqet as she gets squirted with water. Ah, the classics. Meanwhile, Khali hits the Punjabi Plunge on Epico and it’s mercifully over. No, wait, Swoggle’s dancing with Khali, now it’s worse.
Winner: The Great Khali
-Heyman in the back, freaking out as apparently he has to ASK for balloons for Punk’s celebration. “BALLOONS, BALLOONS!” Give the man his balloons, dammit!
-Miz is in action, NEXT!
Otunga starts out aggressive, laying out Miz with a clothesline and then a pair of step-up clothesline. He keeps Miz grounded for the duration of the match, flooring him with clotheslines whenever Miz tries to comeback. Miz comes back at the end with big left hands, corner clothesline, a top-rope axe handle and the Skull-Crushing Finale for the victory. Otunga honestly looked good here, and I’m a little surprised he lost as suddenly as he did.
Winner: The Miz
-Recap of Ryback’s threat and Heyman’s invitation to him to attend Punk’s celebration.
-Sheamus out for his match, but before that, he talks about how this was a fight between two warriors and after Hell In The Cell, he had no complaints about Big Show winning, but then he made it personal by assaulting Regal time and again. He was smiling after his fight at HITC, but he’s not smiling now, and calls out the World Champ, who obliges. The two get into a verbal spat, as Show says there’s nothing personal, and it’s as clear as Sheamus’s face, Show is still the world champion, despite Sheamus beating him all over the arena with a chair. Before it can escalate, Damien Sandow enters, surprisingly sans microphone.
Sheamus aggressive with the shoulder blocks and clotheslines, but Sandow comes back with punches and kicks, pushing Sheamus into the corner before he delivers more blows. Sheamus is kept down for a bit as Sandow lays the boots to him, but Sheamus shrugs it off, knocking down Sandow, then taking him by the beard and tossing him out of the ring, as we go to commercial…
(Sorry if my coverage suddenly seems rushed, my internet connection crapped out and I’m catching up at the moment.)
Back to the match, as Sandow rams Sheamus’s shoulder into the turnbuckle. Out at ringside, Sandow hits a nasty neckbreaker on the floor, who rolls Sheamus back in for a near fall. Rear chinlock by Sandow. Knees to Sheamus, followed by an uppercut for two. Sandow cross-faces Sheamus in the ropes, followed a kick to the back of the head. He rubs an elbow into Sheamus, then drops a knee from the second rope. Sandow back to the rear chinlock. Sheamus back to his feet, but Damien knocks him down and lays in some kicks and punches before taking a mocking bow to the fans. Sandow back to the chinlock. Sheamus back up, but Sandow knocks him down again and puts him back in the chinlock. Sheamus finally out with some big hands, Sandow with the leg sweep, but the Elbow of Disdain countered into a big Irish Curse backbreaker. Sheamus with high knees to Sandow in the ropes, then hits his 10 Shots, followed by a suplex. Sheamus up to the top, and hits the Battering Ram shoulder block. White Noise connects, and the Brogue Kick DRILLS Sandow for the elementary three count.
Winner: Sheamus
-Vickie talking with Tamina (new hairstyle as well), as AJ comes back in. Vickie jokes if she’ll try to deny kissing Cena in the ring. AJ ignores that (at Tamina’s hand’s behest) and explains that John is hurt and wonders if Vickie will do anything about. Vickie says she doesn’t care, and AJ says if Vickie won’t do something about it, she will. *sigh* At least it looks like we’re heading towards Cena versus Ziggler through all of this.
-We hear more about Heyman going nuts for Punk’s celebration, Ryback’s ultimatum from Vickie, and Heyman’s invitation to Ryback. We suddenly go to the back with Layla and AJ, who’s apparently intent on going into the men’s locker room, likely to confront Ziggler. Layla’s unsure, but AJ tells her to go as she enters. The other men clear as she marches right up to Ziggler, asking who the hell he is to get involved. Dolph goes off on AJ, telling her she’s absolutely pathetic, having come in with nothing, latching on to anyone who will pay her attention, and then lose a part of herself when they become disappointed in her. He’s seen a million girls like her, sad, weak, pitiful, and calls her trash. He sits back down in disgust, and AJ goes BATSHIT crazy, assaulting Dolph. Cena pulls her off, only to get blindsided by Dolph. Cena fights back, but Dolph kicks him in the bad knee and barrels Cena through some stall doors. He continues to attack Cena as officials pull him off and call a doctor for Cena. Whoa.
-Josh Matthews with the update on Cena, and speculation dictates that he likely exacerbated the earlier diagnose of a potential to a now partial meniscus tear.
Primetime Players out at ringside for commentary. Future tag team title shot if Rey and Cara win. Cara with kicks to Kane, who backdrops him to the apron. Cara misses the senton and gets a boot for his efforts. Bryan tags himself in, and lays some kicks to Cara in the corner. Snapmare and knee drop by Bryan, but misses a top rope knee. Cara with the top-rope arm drag. Rey tags in, and a double team kick for two on Bryan. Rey reverses a whip and kicks Bryan. Kane tags in. Kicks to Kane’s knee and Rey kicks Bryan off the ring. 619 attempt misses, Kane out to ringside. Rey hits a senton on him, but Bryan with the running knee off the apron, and Cara responds with a suicide dive to take out Bryan as we go to commercial…
Kane with a chinlock on Sin Cara, as we see during the break that Cara got laid out with a boot. Kane hits a sidewalk slam for two. Bryan tags in. Bryan with the surfboard on Cara. He lays in boots to Cara, then Kane tags in and hits a boot for a near fall. Knees in the corner, and Bryan tags in. Snapmare into a rear chinlock on Cara. Snapmare and knees by Bryan. Cara counters a charge with a kick and hits a rana. Rey and Kane, dropkick to Kane’s knee and a buzzsaw kick for two. Rey counters a side slam into a DDT. Bryan breaks up the pinfall, but Cara takes him out. Rey off the top, Kane hits a BIG uppercut for a near fall. Kane tripped up for the 619, but Kane catches him on the splash, goes for the chokeslam, only for the Primetime Players to interrupt.
Winner: No Contest
-Post match, Young and Titus try to assault Team Hell No, only to get a double 619, chokeslam, and top-rope senton for their efforts.
-Heyman in Punk’s locker room, buttering up a smirking WWE Champion as he informs him that his championship celebration awaits, and it…is….NEXT!
-Recap of the AJ-Cena-Vickie-Ziggler debacle, going from the ring to Vickie’s office to the men’s locker room.
-Heyman in a Punk-decorated ring, with posters of Punk and a list of the longest WWE Title reigns. He doesn’t feel should be booed, and wonders why the crowd is upset. He wonders if the crowd’s upset at Ryback’s and Cena’s failure to win, or that whenever Punk and Heyman try to bring attitude and extreme that fans want, they can’t handle it. Heyman says this is a celebration of 365 glorious days of the reigning WWE Champion C…M…PUNK! Punk out, as he takes it all in, mockingly bowing to the fans. He spurs the crowd on. Triple H, HBK, Bret Hart, The Undertaker, and the Rock couldn’t do it…hold the WWE Championship for 365 days, a full calendar year. Video highlight of Punk’s reign, starting from Day 1 last year, through Cena, Jericho, Bryan, Kane, and to a lesser extent, Ryback. Very nice, and surprisingly well-balanced for a heel. It’s about looking to the future and knowing his spot for Punk, who feels he should be at the top. He marks the date that he will surpass Bruno Sammartino as the longest reigning champion PERIOD. Heyman gushes how no one on the list can beat CM Punk, and says how the Rock will fall just like the rest. He feels beating Ryback and Cena “single-handedly” is the top victory of his reign.
-Ryback’s music hits and he looks steamed as he marches down to the ring, but he’s ambushed as Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns assault him. He tries to fight them off. Punk and Heyman looked on, seemingly stunned. The three men wear down and beat down Ryback, then do what they did last night, drilling Ryback through the announce table with a BIG triple team powerbomb. Punk slowly approaches the fallen Ryback, only to smirk and place a foot on Ryback as he screams “BEST IN THE WORLD!” as we fade to black.
-End show.
