The Miz vs. Tensai:   Wow an appearance from the Miz on Superstars? This should be an interesting matchup as Miz is on a roll as a babyface but Tensai, despite falling down the card, still has a small air of difficulty surrounding him. The fans chant “Albert” at Tensai making Miz smirk. Tensai pushes him around at the bell but Miz comes back with an armbar. He wrings the arm and wrenches on it. Tensai frees himself with a bodyslam but Miz is too quick and he misses the follow up elbow. They lock up again and this time Tensai mauls him with a head-butt and lands a pair of elbows. Miz reenters the ring and hits a sledge off the apron to fell Tensai. The Miz is my Rumble pick; I’m officially announcing it now. Tensai takes command back but Miz quickly counters and tosses him back into the ring, where Tensai gathers himself and steamrolls him with a shoulderblock. Miz fights back again and hits a running kneelift but runs afoul of an elbow to the face. Tensai looks for a splash but there’s no water in the pool and Miz gets two. Tensai tries to toss him over the top because it’s RUMBLE TIME! Miz counters and hotshots Tensai’s throat off the top and then leaps off the top… right into a Tensai uppercut for two. Back from commercial, Miz is escaping a trapezius hold but getting caught atop Tensai’s shoulders off a tip-over in the corner. Miz slips free and tries the SCF but Tensai powers free and nails a Baldo Bomb… for two! Back to the trapezius hold; Mix frees himself but walks into a standing bear splash. Tensai hits a running elbow in the corner; he tries again but meets a pair of boots. Tensai charges but misses and Miz looks for the Awesome Clothesline but Tensai grabs him by the throat. For a jobber, Tensai sure counters a lot of big babyface spots; I guess this is the way that the WWE thinks they’ll keep his heat. Miz battles back and hits a low dropkick and a running boot to the face… twice; he tries for a third but gets leveled with a clothesline. Tensai looks for a vertical suplex but Miz slips free and tries the Finale again but it’s countered; Tensai tries a back elbow but it is ducked and Miz hits Eat Defeat. Matt Striker dubs it “the Agony of Defeat.” Tensai is finally compromised enough to hit the Awesome Clothesline and top-rope double axe handle for, what appeared to be, almost be a three count. Tensai recovers quickly but Miz nails a quick boot to the face to dazzle Tensai and nails the Scull-Crushing Finale for the pinfall.   6/10 I actually found this match rather entertaining; Miz did his best with Tensai, who kept countering his big moves, to wear him down enough to finally score with the heavy hitting moves. This was much like playing WWE ’13 where you have to work the opponent down for a while or they will keep countering your big moves. Miz winning was the only obvious thing about the match.

We rebound Raw with the Dolph Ziggler/John Cena affair and follow that with CM Punk and Ryback in a TLC match. For my full Raw recap, click here.

“Funkasaurus” Brodus Clay & Zack Ryder (w/The Funkadactyls) vs. The Primetime Players:   I heard the WWE has been teaming these two together and has been rather entertaining team which the WWE is quite happy about. I’ve said that these two should have teamed for months; they aren’t doing anything of note anyway and the fans really like both of them, plus the WWE could use a few more consistent tag teams. Ryder and Young open the fight and they exchange positions in the corner; Young gets a brief advantage but Ryder comes back with a pair of armdrags. Brodus gets a tag and Young escapes and brings in his sizable tag partner for a battle of the bigger men. Titus tries to take the early advantage but meets a shoulderblock and André Butt Splash in the corner; Ryder tags and hits the Broski Boot but Titus counters the Rough Ryder and Young blindsides him with a clothesline from the apron. The Players take over as O’Neil hits elbows and a reverse Strongest Slam. Young comes in and they hit the Millions of Dollars Suplex. Darren applies a chinlock and brings O’Neil back in for a backbreaker toss. Ryder is able to create some separation with a neckbreaker counter to a vertical suplex. The hot tag to Clay follows as does a bunch of clotheslines; the Funky Avalanche sets up the Funk It crossbody. O’Neil tries to make a save but Ryder hits him with a Rough Ryder. Clay calls his momma for a splash to finish.   4/10 Essentially  squash match for Clay and Ryder; when was the last time you heard “Zack Ryder” and “squash match” and he wasn’t the squash-ee. I like this team and will work better than Team Co-Bro, I think.

The last part of the show is the entire epic confrontation between The Rock and CM Punk.

OVERALL 4.5/10   Not too bad for a show this week; Miz and Tensai was surprisingly good and we get the “debut” of the Ryder/Clay tandem that the WWE is high on. Raw recaps abound as usual make for a pretty decent show this week.
