WWE MAIN EVENT 1.30.13

PYRO~!

– Miz TV time. Miz introduces Ryback and here he comes. Ryback says that he’s a really big fan of the show. “Really?” I like the subtle comedy they’re adding to the Ryback character. I mean, it’s subtle by WWE TV standards. Ryback says that last week, Cesaro ran like a coward. This week he won’t be so lucky. Cesaro comes out and says that Ryback and Miz are conspiring against him just like all Americans are. That match is coming up right after…

~SOME COMMERCIALS!~

Ryback vs. Antonio Cesaro

Lockup to start. Ryback powers Cesaro into the corner and stomps a mud hole into him. Ryback face plants Cesaro down and goes for a suplex but Cesaro floats over. He can’t capitalize and Ryback gets a hold of him. He lifts Cesaro up and hits him with a HUUUUUUUGE verticle suplex and follows up with a clothesline to the outside. He held him up there for like 20 seconds. Anyways, Antonio gets back in the ring and walks right into a back body drop. He gets backed into another corner and gets hit with some hard chops. Ryback throws him back to the outside and gives Cesaro a hard Irish whip into the barricade as we head to our next…

~Commercial Break~

We’re back as Ryback catches Cesaro in a bear hug. Cesaro gets out and side steps a spear which sends Ryback into the ring post. Ryback rolls to the outside and Cesaro whips him into the ring steps before rolling back in. Ryback rolls in and Cesaro pummels him with knee strikes. Cesaro hits a nice knee from the top rope but only gets one. Cesaro stomps Ryback twice and locks in a headlock. Ryback powers out and gets hit with a boot. Ryback tries again and hits a spinebuster. Feed me more. Meat hook clothesline. Cesaro rolls to the outside though! Get out of there. You don’t need this match! Ryback slams Cesaro on the ramp a few times, Cesaro rolls back in and then quickly rolls out. He gives Miz a boot to the face out of nowhere. That was hilarious. He runs into the crowd and takes the count out. The ending was actually pretty awesome but the match was nothing special. It would have been a bit more exciting if Cesaro got more offense in. Ryback’s moveset isn’t fleshed out enough yet.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Ryback @ 11:36 via count out
RATING: **1/4

– The Prime Time Players run into Tensai backstage. They take a playful jab at Tensai regarding his dancing on Raw and he gets upset about it. They dance off screen in amazing fashion. Brodus Clay shows up on the scene and tells Tensai that it was just a joke. Tensai says that it’s not just a joke to him and storms off.

RAW REBOUND: We get a video recap of the personal performance review from Raw. Heyman’s work here is nothing short of brilliant. He’s the best talker in the industry and there’s nobody CLOSE in my opinion. I’m not very excited about revisiting Lesnar vs. Triple H again though.

Tensai vs. Titus O’Neil (w/ Darren Young)

I like both of these guys so I’m more excited for this than I probably should be. We get a feeling out process to start. Tensai hits a nice shoulder block followed by an elbow drop for 2. Titus rolls to the outside and Tensai follows him out. Darren Young distracts him, which allows Titus to roll back in the ring. Tensai focuses his attention back on Titus and heads back in only to get met with a boot to the face. Titus is all over Tensai now with aggressive brawling. Tensai can’t mount any offense. O’Neil locks in a headlock. Tensai fights back but gets caught with a clothesline to the outside. Darren Young lines up Tensai with his fro pick for when he gets up and here comes Brodus Clay! And now here comes…

~a commercial break~

WE’RE BACK! Brodus and the Funkadactyls are ringside. Titus has a headlock applied that Tensai is battling out of. They battle over suplex’s and it’s a stalemate. Titus hits a couple knees and gets Tensai over for one. That only gets two. Tensai goes for a splash but only gets two. This match is having the same problem as the first match. The offense is pretty plodding. Titus hits a nice scoop slam for two. Darren Young shouts O’Neil’s accolades at Michael Cole. Titus is in the ring hitting some clubbering blows toTensai’s dome. He hits the ropes but Tensai catches him with a sideslam. Then ten count begins! Both men make it to their feet. Tensai mocks O’Neil’s bark and delivers a slew of headbutts in the corner. He’s feeling it! He’s shoveling! He hits a running senton and gets three! Brodus and that Dactyls are in. Celebration time!

OFFICIAL RESULT: Tensai @ 14:45 via pin
RATING: *1/2

OVERALL: This was a pretty low quality episode of Main Event tonight. Ryback vs Cesaro wasn’t very good and Titus vs. Tensai was about what you’d expect it to be. I’ll see you guys on Friday for the Smackdown recap!
