411's WWE Superstars Report 01.31.13
Posted by Marc Elusive on 02.02.2013

Commentators: Matt Striker & Tony Dawson

Championship's roll call: WWE Champion: The Rock… World Champion: Alberto Del Rio… Intercontinental Champion: Wade Barrett… United States Champion: Antonio Cesaro… Tag Team Champions: Team Hell No… NXT Champion: Big E Langston… NXT Tag Team Champions: Vacant… Diva's Champion: Kaitlyn

The Usos vs. Primo & Epico (w/Rosa Mendes):   Everyone is related on each team. Jimmy and Primo opens the match and they trade wrestling moves until Primo SWEEPS THE LEG. The lock up again and Jimmy steamrolls him with a shoulderblock; the Usos exchange and hit double elbow drops. Primo kicks Jey away and tags in Epico; Jey takes over on him really quickly and slams him. Primo tags and but Jey keeps the advantage with a leg lariat. He chops Primo in his corner and they tag and Jey whips Primo into a Jimmy forearm. Jimmy applies an armbar; Primo tries to head-butt but that goes as well as you'd think. He tries to ram Jimmy's head into the buckle and after the first time you'd think Primo learn. Actually, Primo grew up in wrestling and the Islander hard head has been a stereotype since BEFORE Primo was probably born. Anyway, Jimmy Moonwalks and head-butts Primo down. They tag again team up for a Demolition Decapitation. Jey applies a side headlock. Primo breaks free with a jawjacker and tags Jimmy back in; they continue to dominate with a double uppercut and Primo slides to the floor. The Colóns are able to take the advantage kicking Jimmy in the face. Back from commercial, Epico whips Jimmy into a Primo dropkick. Primo hits a backdrop suplex for two. Quick tags abound and the Colóns work over Jimmy's newly tattooed arm; Epico plants him with a single-arm DDT for two more. Epico applies a top wristlock as we see the WrestleMania sign looming in the background. I'll be there. Primo tags but Jimmy tries to fight back; the fans respond and he avoids a charge in the corner and Primo hangs himself upside down in a Tree of Woe. Epico frees his cousin but double tags are made. Jey runs over Epico with a boot and flying forearm; Primo runs in and eats a Samoan Drop. Now Rosa pops up on the apron and provides a distraction; Jey sees the double cross coming hand holds the ropes to prevent a Backstabber. He flattens Epico with a superkick and Jimmy tags for the Headshrinker Splash for the win.   6.5/10 The Usos continue to win and the Colóns continue to job. I wonder if the rumors are true and the WWE is bringing Carlito back in to whip his family into shape, which would be ironic considering, they ran a few punishment storylines regarding Carlito's motivation. This match as a wrestling match was very good since these two teams have worked as teams for a very long time. With the dissolution of Team Rhodes Scholars now the tag division can focus more on tag teams.

Here are your winners… The Usos via Headshrinker Splash pinfall

The Raw Rebound is John Cena destroying Cody Rhodes and then making his WrestleMania decision to challenge the WWE Champion (and also spilling the beans about the Elimination Chamber rematch). After that, said Elimination Chamber rematch between CM Punk and The Rock is set up AFTER Cena's challenge was issued. For my full Raw review, click here.

Kofi Kingston vs. Michael McGillicutty:   Kofi tries a waistlock but McGillicutty frees himself and stomps in the corner. McGillicutty hits a dropkick and backbreaker, for two. He grounds Kingston with a chinlock. He tries another backbreaker but Kofi flips free and hits some clotheslines and a dropkick. He nails the Superman punch and the Boom Drop. He revs up the Trouble in Paradise but McGillicutty ducks; he forces Kofi into the corner but eats a pendulum kick. Kofi to the top; McGillicutty tries a dropkick but Kingston catches his feet and catapults him into the buckles. Kingston hits a double jump crossbody (for two) but McGillicutty fires back with a Saito suplex. McGillicutty pounds away as the commentators mention that he's mean. He tries for the McGillicutter but Kofi avoids it and nails Trouble in Paradise for the sudden pinfall.   3.5/10 Short match that sells the suddenness of the Trouble in Paradise kick; other than that it just featured some of Kofi's highflyer moves as he has completely free fallen since losing the IC title. The WWE is quickly flushing all of the "Wildcat" momentum he got from beating the Miz for said title and keeping him on WWE Superstars (and jobbing on the big shows) isn't helping.

Here is your winner… Kofi Kingston via Trouble in Paradise pinfall

The show closes with Brock Lesnar beating up Mr. McMahon saving Paul Heyman from getting fired.

OVERALL 5/10   The opening match was very good and Kofi squashes are entertaining, albeit if you've seen one you've seen them all, and unfortunately for Kingston we've seen them a lot, which usually entails "directionless." Pretty good show this week.
