TNA TELEVISION CHAMPION: Devon

We start off with Bully Ray backstage. Tonight, he will tell us how he pulled off the biggest hoax in the history of professional wrestling. He says he will feel like fools for buying into it. This plan took nine months to come together. He said Plan A was to win the Bound For Glory Series, but when it didn’t work, he went to Plan B, where he destroyed personal relationships and the Hogan family. He says that the Hogan family has never been as low as they are now, and he doesn’t feel bad for Sting. He tells us to watch as he reveals how the most hated man in pro wrestling became World Champion.

We are coming to you from the Sears Center in Chicago, Illinois. Hulk Hogan makes his way out to the ring with a crutch. The commentators put over the work of Aces and Eights last week. Hogan thanks the fans for their warm ovation. Hogan says that he has been around for a long time, but that he’s never had the wool pulled over his eyes like this time. Hogan talks about everyone being fooled, and says that last week, Aces and Eights overran everyone, and that he is dealing with a monster. He calls what is happening a “war of survival.” Hogan says that the men he loves are the ones who came out last week. He wants nothing but respect for Samoa Joe, Magnus, Kurt Angle, and Jeff Hardy. Taz mocks Hogan for celebrating guys who got beaten up. Hogan brings out the former TNA World Champion Jeff Hardy last. Hogan says that as he talks to these man, he’s talking to all of the warriors in the back. He tells them to put Aces & Eights out, and that he needs the TNA World Championship back. Hogan asks Jeff if he is still up for the re-match with Bully Ray. Hardy says that he is beat up, but him and THE CREATURES~! need the belt back. Hardy proposes a four way between everyone in the ring where the winner gets a title shot. Hogan loves the idea, and says the best man in the ring will become the number one contender. Hogan makes the match official for tonight!

The camera cuts back to Bully Ray. He goes over Plan A, which was to win the Bound For Glory series and win the TNA World Championship, which is why Sting was jumped that night. He says he dealt every hand, and the questions began to pop up. He says that it was suggested to Bobby Roode that James Storm was behind the attack, which created a diversion. From there, they made sure all signs pointed to Storm while Bully Ray racked up victories. He says he let the whole world know it wasn’t Storm when he lost at No Surrender. He convinced Roode to prevent Storm from winning. He says that Hogan got smarter and locked Aces and Eights out the night of the tournament finals, and that Hardy was tougher than he thought when he lost to him. He then came up with a new plan, which was to marry Brooke.

The members of the tag team title match are ready for their match, which is next!

———-

TNA Tag Team Championship Match: Austin Aries and Bobby Roode (c) vs. Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez

Chavo and Roode start things off. Chavo gets the better of chain wrestling, so Roode turns it into a striking contest. Chavo hits a tilt-a-whirl head scissors to regain control. Hernandez sneaks in a cheap-shot and tags in, scoop slamming Chavo onto Roode and following up with a splash for two. Roode takes over and sends Hernandez’s face into Aries’ boot. Aries tags in, and Roode chokes Hernandez behind the official’s back. Roode tags back in kicks Hernandez before tagging right back out. The tag champs try for a double suplex, but Hernandez blocks and suplexes both men! Chavo comes in and hits two dropkicks onto Roode before the match gets thrown to commercials.

——-

We come back from the break, and the heels are in control. Roode sends Chavo face-first into the stairs, and Aries flies off of the top rope with an elbow to Chavo’s head! Aries takes the action back inside and covers for two. Aries locks in a front chancery. Chavo fights free but takes a knee to the gut. Roode tags in and hits a back suplex for two. Roode goes to a side headlock. Chavo gets to his feet, but Roode cuts him off. Chavo reverses a whip and then connects with a tornado DDT! Chavo makes the tag to Hernandez and Roode tags in Aries! Hernandez takes to to both men and launches Aries with a Gorilla Press! Herandez goes to the outside- DIVE OVER THE TOP INTO THE RING ONTO ROODE AND ARIES! Hernandez soaks in the cheers before grabbing Aries. Hernandez sets up the Border Toss, but Roode cuts him off. Hernandez takes out Roode with a shoulder block, but eats a back elbow from Arries. Aries flies, but Hernandez catches him. Aries and Hernandez fall out to the floor via headscissors! In the ring, Aries hits goes for a suplex, but Chavo counters with the Three Amigos! KAZ AND DANIELS ARE HERE! Daniels shoves Chavo off the top, and Aries rolls up Chavo with the trunks for the win!

Winners: Austin Aries and Bobby Roode
Solid television match here. Aries and Roode are a pleasure to watch. The crowd wasn’t feeling Chavo and Hernandez, so it is nice to see the champions moving on to Kaz and Daniels.

After the match, Kazarian and Daniels lay waste to the champions and pose with the belts.

We take a look at the X-Division to hype the new changes, which means all matches will be three-ways and there will be a 235 lbs weight limit. Kenny King says that if those are the new rules, so be it. He says that now he will shine even more and drink 5 Hour Energy. The promo was good up until the cringe-worthy product placement.

The number one contenders match is still to come, and the X Division title three-way is up next.

———-

X Division Championship Match: Kenny King (c) vs. Zema Ion vs. Sonjay Dutt

We get typical three-way spots to start before Sonjay botches a launching headscissors. Sonjay comes back with a hurricanranna onto both men! Sonjay sets up for a dive, but both men pull him out to the floor. KENNY KING LEAPS UP TO THE RING APRON AND CRASHES DOWN ONTO ION WITH A TWISTING SENTON! That was nice. King takes Ion inside and covers for two. King hits a leaping back elbow and pounds away on Ion, cutting off Dutt before he can re-enter the ring. King connects with a suplex and fires away with punches. Dutt gets to the apron, but King drops him throat-first onto the top rope. King hits a spinning heel kick onto Ion, but Sonjay flies in with a springboard dropkick to take out King! Dutt sees an opening and heads up top, but King shoves him off of the top rope onto the ramp! Ion fires away with shots on King, but he eats a cartwheel headkick! Ion comes in from the outside with a tornado DDT! Dutt flies in with a headsiccors onto Ion. Dutt takes out both men with a moonsault from the middle rope to the outside after initially slipping. Dutt takes Ion inside and plants him with a slam. Dutt goes up top, but Ion chases after him. Dutt elbows him back down to the mat. DUTT WITH A MOONSAULT DOUBLE STOMP! KENNY KING FLIES IN WITH A SPRINGBOARD BLOCKBUSTER ONTO DUTT! King covers Dutt and gets three!

Winner: Kenny King
This was a fun, high-energy sprint. Dutt had a lot of chances to shine, but did not make the best of the opportunity. It’ll be interesting to see if he pops up again.

Backstage, Brooke Hogan is approached by a camera man, and she says she is here to do business with the Knockouts, and not to talk about Bully or her dad.

———–

We got to Bully Ray again, who discusses Plan B (not the morning after pill). He gives credit to Hardy for winning the title. He says Hogan made a fool out of himself. He demanded full access in exchange for no one hurting Joseph Park. Devon was under the mask, and Bully claims that no one turns their back on his brother. He says he needed to save TNA to further trick Hogan. He looked into Hogan’s eyes and knew he had him fooled. When they shook hands, Hogan signed over Impact to him. He says he lost at Bound For Glory at the hands of his own brother, and that he made his “anger” cost the team on purpose. He knew how Hulk would react when he went after Brooke. The more Hulk said no, the more Brooke said yes. He says, “I was in, oh yes I was, and there’s nothing you could’ve done to stop it.”

Sting is outside of Hogan’s office.

————

Sting says it’s fine that Hogan made a four-way for a title shot, but that he wants a shot at Bully Ray tonight. Hogan suggests that Sting sits up in the rafters for a few years like he always does when things get heavy. He says all Sting does is cause problems. Sting claims last week was about apologies, but that tonight is about revenge. Hogan tells Sting he isn’t fooling anyone.

A recap of the recent events between Taryne Tarrell and Gail Kim is shown. Terrell says she’s been pushed to her breaking point, and she is okay losing her job over this issue.

Taryne Terrell comes out to the ring. She is on probation. She says that her job is to control the chaos, not create it. When Gail put her hands on Terrell twice, she had to do what she did. Terrell says she will accept the consequences. Gail Kim comes out to the ring. Kim tells Terrell not to mess with her, and that Gail Kim is the greatest female wrestler of all-time. Kim says that there would be no Terrell without her. Kim says she is going to call out Brooke Hogan to fire Terrell. Kim tells Brooke to come out to the ring. Brooke Hogan comes out to the ramp with a microphone in hand. Brooke says this was a tough decision to make. She tells Taryn that she loves her, but that she has to be fair. Brooke fires Taryn as the referee for the Knockouts. Brooke tells Gail that she seems happy, but that she has some more news. Brooke has signed Taryn Terrell to the TNA Knockout roster, and now she can get physical with anyone whenever she wants. Terrell spears Kim, and then chases her to the back!

Bully Ray enters through the crowd and comes out to the ramp! Brooke turns around and is stunned to see him. Bully stares her down and shows her his wedding band. He says, “’til death do us part.” What about divorce? Do those things still exist?

———-

A commercial for Slammiversary airs, which is June 2nd in Boston.

We go to Bully Ray again, who says his army has great soldiers. He says DOC and Knox are the muscle. Devon, Garrett Bischoff, and Wes Brisco tried to help, but they were brushed off. Bully Ray says Hogan made Brisco beg. When Anderson was attacked, Hogan did not check on him, so he joined the group. Taz joined the group to answer the call of a higher power. D-Lo has been on the inside the whole time, and that he has access to all of TNA’s secrets. Bully says he wanted to embarrass everyone in TNA, so he started with Kurt Angle. He says Garrett purposefully lost to Wes Brisco to get him in the door. Once they had everything they needed from Angle, they trapped him in the cage with Biscoff and Brisco. Once Bully Ray’s title match was set up, he wanted every member to be revealed except for himself. He says they never saw it coming.

We cut to Kurt Angle, who says that the four-way match tonight is the most important match he’s had in a year and a half. He wants to be the man to take down Aces and Eights, and that starts with winning the TNA World Championship. This was a great promo that makes the main-event seem important.

Matt Morgan vs. Joseph Park

Morgan’s beard is quite glorious. Morgan shoves Park to the mat and taunts him. Park misses with a punch. Morgan intimidates Park in the corner and then mocks him. Morgan shoves Park, but this time Park shoves him back! Morgan drops Park with a punch to the cut, and then boots away at his head. Morgan clubs Park with a forearm to the back. Morgan poses while Park gets up in the corner. Morgan nails a back elbow, and then whips Park into the buckles. Morgan drops Park with a clothesline to the back of the head. Park gets up to his feet again, and manages to avoid a charging Matt Morgan. Park lands a few punches, but then eats a discus clothesline coming off the ropes. Morgan headbutts Park and then pulls on his nostrils. Morgan stretches Park out with the ropes. Park pulls himself up again, and avoids the Carbon Footprint, causing Morgan to crotch himself on the top rope! Park lands some punches, and then hits a weak clothesline off the ropes. Park ducks an attack from Morgan and knocks him off his feet with a shoulder block. Joseph Park goes up to the second rope, but misses the Closing Argument! Park gets up, and Morgan hits the CARBON FOOTPRINT! One, two, three!

Winner: Matt Morgan
This was longer than it needed to be, and the charm of Joseph Park has worn off, as evident by the lack of a reaction he received.

Last week, AJ Styles came back and took out James Storm. We will hear from him after the break!

———-

We come back from the break, and Jeff Hardy talks about winning the belt back for himself and THE CREATURES~!

Mike Tenay is in the ring, and he brings out “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles. AJ looks disheveled. He gets right in Tenay’s face. Tenay says that he’s known AJ for ten years, and that they have always been friends, but he needs to know what the deal is with the recent actions. Tenay asks about the recent rumors of drug and alcohol abuse. Taz cuts Tenay off, and says he will conduct the interview. Taz offers AJ a spot in Aces & Eights. However, it’s on the low-end of the organization, and that he’ll be making beer runs for them, which Taz claims Styles has been dabbling in.

SORRY ‘BOUT YOUR DAMN LUCK! James Storm comes out. Storm gets on the ring, but Styles won’t turn around to face him. Storm says that the old AJ Styles was the type of guy who would say what he thought to someone’s face. Storm tells him he can be the new AJ Styles, but that he is still the old “Cowboy” James Storm. Storm tells AJ to think about sucker-punching him again, but that when he thinks about it, he’ll kick him right in the teeth. AJ leaves the ring, and Storm says that everyone wants to know why. Storm is upset with the lack of answers.

Up next, Magnus, Angle, Joe, and Hardy will battle for the number one contender’s spot!

———–

Bully Ray is backstage again, and he talks about Hardy being a strong champion and winning wrestler of the year. He says Hogan didn’t trust him when he saved him, or when Hogan caught him with his daughter. Bully claims that all Hogan did was drive his daughter deeper into Bully’s arms. He used Sting to lure Hogan in. During the wedding, he did not want to end the plan yet, so he had Taz make an Impact. He says Devon hit him with a cement pillar, but that he took some shots for the team. Then it was Devon’s turn to take a beating. The injury that sidelined him put things off for a while, but that he used it as an opportunity to manipulate things even more. He says that Hogan fell into his trap and made him the number one contender. He played to Hogan’s biggest weakness, his ego. Sting got beat down because Bully had to take care of his family. For nine months, everyone got swindled, and Bully Ray pulled off the biggest con in professional wrestling history. He is the leader and the President of Aces and Eights.

Number One Contender’s Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe vs. Magnus

All four men brawl to kick things off. Magnus and Joe gain the early advantage. Joe takes over and beats up everybody. Joe chops Angle in the back and nails a kick to the chest before dropping a knee. That gets two. Joe sends Angle to the floor with Hardy and Magnus. JOE WIPES OUT EVERYONE WITH A DIVE! We go to a commercial break!

———-

We come back from the break, and Joe and Magnus are exchanging blows, but Angle cuts it. Magnus boots Angle and Joe tacks on a senton. Magnus takes out Joe, and Angle brings it to him. Magnus gets the better of Angle. Hardy flies off the top, but Magnus catches him and throws him into a suplex! Magnus drops an elbow twice and covers for two. Magnus applies a side headlock. Hardy wills the crowd behind him and gets to his feet. Hardy breaks free with elbows, but Magnus pulls him down to the mat by his hair. Angle goes to the eyes of Joe on the floor while Magnus digs an elbow into Hardy in the ring. Magnus keeps Joe and Angle on the floor before stomping Hardy. Joe hits Magnus with a back elbow. Joe hits the ropes, but MAGNUS DRIVES HIM TO THE MAT WITH A MICHINOKU DRIVER! Magnus drives Hardy into the corner. Hardy hits a head scissors and atomic drop on Magnus before leg dropping him in the gut and adding on a dropkick. Hardy stops Angle and hits a Twist of Fate on Joe! Twist of Fate to Magnus! Jeff Hardy goes up top, but Angle runs up the buckles. Hardy shoves him down, and Magnus crotches Hardy. Angle dishes out suplex variations to Magnus and Joe. ANKLE LOCK APPLIED TO SAMOA JOE! Joe considers tapping, but he shoves Angle off into Magnus! HARDY HITS A SWANTON ONTO JOE! ONE, TWO, THREE!

Winner: Jeff Hardy
This was a fun main-event, and everyone looked good here. The finish was seamless and looked great. I wish someone else had gone over so we could get a fresh guy into the title picture, but so be it.

After the match, Joe shakes Hardy’s hand. Bully Ray screwed Jeff Hardy at Lockdown, but now Hardy is the first man in line for a title shot! We’ll see you all next week!
