WWE MAIN EVENT 7.10.13

– Miz is on commentary with Josh Matthews.

Christian vs. Fandango (w/ Summer Rae)
We start off with some back and forth action. Christian comes out on top with a clothesline followed by a plancha to the outside on Fandango. Christian heads back in and ducks a top rope clothesline. He shoulder blocks Christian to the outside as we head to break! Good back and forth action to start us off. I’m expecting the second segment to pick up the pace in a major way.

-Commercial Break-

Fandango is in control as we return from break. Christian fights out of a side headlock but quickly succumbs to another one. He fights out again but winds up in the corner getting punched. Christian fights back with a few uppercuts. He hits a running elbow to the kisser before dropping Fandango face first with a flapjack.TWOOOOOOO. Christian goes upstairs and hits a crossbody for TWO. Miz is so far off from pronouncing Fandango that it’d be interesting as a gimmick… But it’s just bad announcing. Fandango hits a springboard elbow for TWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Lots of O’s AMIRITE? He goes upstairs for his Alabama Jam! He fights Christian off and sends him back down to the mat. He delivers but Christian moves! TWO! Christian misses a spear! Christian rolls Fandango up off of a supex attempt for the win! This was a solid Main Event match. Nothing more, nothing less

OFFICIAL RESULT: Christian @ 9:30 aired via roll up
RATING: **3.4

-Commercial Break-

Layla and Natalya vs. Alicia Fox and Aksana
Ya know, Aksana has been getting better in the ring. With a face Diva’s champ and a change from her cheesy gimmick/intro music, she could be a good villain. Nattie and Aksana start the match off. Natalya quickly locks in a leg submission on Aksana. Aksana maintains control, until Natalya connects with a snapmare into the sharpshooter attempt. Aksana quickly gets to the ropes. Aksana wants a time out, and extends her hand for a handshake… STOMP ON THE HAND BY NATTIE. Aksana tags in Alicia. She takes control on the quick but Natalya fights back. She quickly tags in Layla, who goes for the LOL. Alicia hits a dropkick for two separate pinfall attempts. Aksana tags in and drops Layla with a low kick and pins her for a two count. Aksana shoves Layla in the corner and beats her up a bit until she counters with a kick. Layla tries to tag Nattie, but doesn’t get the tag, as Aksana cuts her off and knocks Nattie to the apron. Layla hits a chick kick out of nowhere for the win. You know, it was exactly what you’d expect. Like I said at the beginning of the match report, Aksana is growing by leaps and bounds.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Layla @ 5:07 via pinfall
RATING: *

-Commercial Break-

– We get a recap of the Raw angle that played out between D-Bry and John Cena. I thought this was extremely effective and put over how hard Daniel Bryan has worked to earn the show.

-Commercial Break-

Justin Gabriel vs. Heath Slater
Heath Slater takes control with a waist lock to start. They exchange holds until Slater delivers an arm drag. Gabriel hits a shoulder block on Slater followed by an arm drag of his own. Gabriel’s looked better. They exchange some chops and then Gabriel hits a hurricanrana that sends Slater to the floor. Slater gets rolled back into the ring and McIntyre trips up Gabriel with a sweep of the legs. Slater takes advantage of the distraction as he begins to take control as we head to break.

-Commercial Break-

Gabriel gets kicked in the chest by Slater as we return from commercial. Slater keeps Gabriel grounded until a pin attempt gets him a two. That would be a stellar jobber gimmick. Instead of five, just TWO! TWO! TWO! Slater argues with the ref and Gabriel takes control for a small period of time until Slater delivers a boot. Slater goes up to the top and goes for a legdrop but Gabriel moves out the way! Gabriel begins taking control until the Wyatt Family interrupts and attacks both men in the ring. YES! Wyatt Family on Main Event! I’ll take it! They beat em down good and that’s all she wrote. This was a average match until the Wyatt Family attack. I’m still marking out for them so a quick beat down is enough to make me feel positive about the ending.

OFFICIAL RESULT: No Contest @ 7:07 aired
RATING: **

OVERALL: The first match wasn’t as good as a typical opener for Main Event but it was still okay. The rest was middle of the road but I do enjoy a good Wyatt Family beat down. You should skip this one.
