Welcome to 411’s LIVE WWE Raw Report 9.02.13

Please excuse me while I wash the stench of Vegas off of me! RAW starts in 5 minutes, and I haven’t even had a Dew! Leggo!

We start our lovely episode of RAW with The Game! He would like us to bow down. The Shield are in front of the ring to ensure no funny business as Triple H stands in the middle of the ring, ready to introduce to us the face of the company, the WWE Heavyweight Champion, the Viper, the man who should have got Geico…Randy Orton.

Here comes he who hears voices, while the commentators babble on about Triple H’s reign of terror. JBL backs them up. Orton says that protecting this company is his number one responsibility. He cannot and will not let the image be tarnished, and if he is disrespected, so, too is the entire WWE and they need to be dealt with. The crowd gives Orton some NOs for his troubles. Take Bryan, he says, as an example. Last week, Bryan defaced his personal property. Orton brings up the Yescalade, and claims that he had no choice but to do what he did on Smackdown. They show a replay of Orton attacking Bryan. Orton wants to take a page out of Bryan’s book and play a little game with the audience. He wants to ask some questions.

Should Daniel Bryan face me at Night of Champions for the title? The crowd says yes, but Orton says no.

Does Daniel Bryan even have the slightest chance in hell of defeated him at NOC. No.

He finally gets to Bryan giving up the opportunity to face him at NOC, and says the answer is YES.

Triple H speaks as COO, and his responsibilities of such a title. One is to ensure that the best quality matches are out here each and every week, considering the Universe has the most passionate and intense fans in the world. He brings up worrying about the health and welfare of Bryan. Bryan’s ego keeps getting him into situations like we just saw, and none of us are helping the situation. We are chanting Yes, and that’s a problem because we care causing Bryan to confuse popularity with what is best for business. They have nothing to do with each other. He wants to give an example. A few years ago, there was a clown who was insanely popular. Everyone loved Doink, but there was a very big reason why he was never the WWE Champion…that’s because it would have been bad for business. Bryan will never be WWE Champion, but that’s ok. Triple H would even be willing to bring back the Cruiserweight Title or the European Title for him.

The music of Daniel Bryan hits. He is here and says that both Orton and Triple H made a lot of really good points, and he is thrilled to be compared to Doink the Clown. But, he isn’t too sure there was ever a loud Doink the Clown chant in 92, and the only clowns he really sees are the two standing in the ring right now. He understands that Orton and HHH want him to give up his championship match the same way that Triple H gave up being a man when he cut his hair, put on the suit and decided to be a corporate sellout. As for Orton, he just gave up being in the picture of the title until it was handed to him. Should he give up his championship match? NO

Orton wants to know how many times Bryan needs to get his ass handed to him before he realizes that he’s not going to win this fight. Bryan says Orton mustn’t understand because no one has ever told him he cannot do something. Bryan has. He was told he was never given anything, but that all made him who he is, and Orton will never understand it because he was given everything. Does Bryan “think” he can beat Orton for the WWE Championship? No. He “knows” he can, and deep down Orton and Triple H knows it, too. Because if they didn’t know it, they would just let him and Orton wrestle. But they know what everyone knows – Orton may have the genetics of a champion, but he doesn’t have the heart. Bryan is about to call Orton a bitch before Triple H interrupts to call him a grumpy ol troll.

Triple H says the anger is one thing, but he shouldn’t be angry at us…he should be angry at one guy. He’s 7 foot tall, 500 lbs, and he stands by with his “iron-clad contract” with a tear running down his cheek while Bryan gets beaten over and over. That’s where his anger should be. Not with them, but with The Big Show. So tonight, Bryan can take his anger out in tonight’s main event: Daniel Bryan vs The Big Show.

-Commercial Break-

We’re backstage with Orton and Trips walkin, making fun of Big Show. They walk down the hall a bit more, and here’s Cody Rhodes. He shakes Trips hand then says he thinks tonight’s main event will be great…as long as no one gets involved. He stops the bullshit then asks Orton straight out why he’s avoiding the match and just face Bryan, he knows he’s not afraid of Bryan. He tells Triple H that with the utmost respect, Daniel Bryan vs Randy Orton IS what’s best for business. Triple H says that he is the one who decides what is best for business. He brings up Cody’s wedding and how neither he nor Orton got an invitation to the wedding. Triple H will be giving him a wedding present tonight, a match with Randy Orton. Cody thanks Triple H and calls it a huge opportunity. Triple H says yes, it is a massive opportunity….to keep his employment, because if he doesn’t win, he’s essentially fired.

To the ring!

Fandango is here with his sexy lil lady by his side!

Match 1: Fandango vs. The Miz

A quick start that I miss results in Fandango heading to the outside to save himself. Miz baseball slides outside then slams Fandango’s arm against the barricade. Miz sends Fandango in the ring. Summer Rae looks to slap Miz, but Miz grabs her and spins her a bit, doin a little dance. He heads into the ring, flapjack and a pin for 1…2..NO! Miz lifts him up and hits a side headlock takedown. Fandango gets out of it and sends The Miz in the corner. Some right hands followed by a whip to the corner, and Fandango swoops under Miz as he hops behind Fandango. Miz hits the ropes. Clothesline to Miz. Miz is calling for a hit, gets it and pins for 1…2..NO! Miz locks a cravat in as we go for a break…

We’re back, and apparently what we missed was that Fandango suffered a broken nose and they were unsure whether the match would continue or not. The doctor on the ringside stopped the bleeding, and they’re still going. Take that, Sin Cara. Fandango chokes up The Miz on the ropes. The ref takes Fanny back, and Summer slaps Miz. Nice. Miz i fired up, he hits some rights, then tosses Fandango to the corner. Miz goes for a hit, but Fandango punches him away. Miz comes back, and we get a Dragon Screw from the top rope! Miz grabs the leg. He’s lookin for the Figure Four. Fandango kicks him away. Miz runs for a clothesline, but Fandango side-steps him and Miz crotches himself on the ringpost. Fandango hops over the apron, then flies back over with a leg drop! Nice!

Fandango looks to go for the pin, but The Miz trips him up and locks in the Figure Four for the tapout!
Official Result: The Miz
Although short, I was surprised at how well this match went towards that second half.
RATING: **

Backstage, and Bryan is centered. Booker T walks in and wants to holla at his boy D-Bry. Booker says this is a fight Bryan cannot win. Bryan is too good to be out there wrestling for $50, and can make a ton of money in the WWE. Bryan drops the Booker line, sayin “Tell me you did not just say that.” Bryan says this is about his life. Booker says he can get hurt, he can get injured, these guys can end his career – his life. Booker says he is behind him for sure, but he needs to tread lightly. Who does he think he is, Walter White?

We get a nice recap of Punk and Heyman’s break up, and all those involved, ending with Heyman proclaiming his love from last week.

Dolph Ziggler is waiting in the ring when we return from a break, and we learn that he will have a mystery opponent. That opponent, we learn, is Dean Ambrose, as he attacks Dolph from behind. He sends Dolph into the ring post then rolls out of the ring and talks shit to Dolph until……

the music of Ryback hits, and here….he….comes. So, apparently, Ambrose was NOT the mystery opponent.

Match 2: Dolph Ziggler vs Ryback

Dolph is still in the corner attempting to stand. He’s up, and the bell rings. Ryback rushes to the corner, but Dolph lifts a shoulder. He runs right into a belly to belly, though. Ryback rips the shirt off of Ziggler and attacks the back of the head. Ryback kicks the side of Dolph then steps on his neck, holding onto the ropes. Ryback lifts Dolph and tosses him across the room by his head. Ryback pulls back on Dolph’s face by his cheeks. haha. That shouldn’t be funny…

Ryback stomps Dolph a bit, while the ref counts. Ryback goads Dolph up then just knocks his ass back down. The crowd is all over him with “Goldberg” and “You Can’t Wrestle” chants. Ryback whips Dolph into the corner, chest first. He backs up and is signalling for the meathook. Dolph stands, Ryback runs. DROPKICK from Ziggler!!! Ryback stirs back, and the crowd loves it. Dolph with a splash in the corner, and the ten count punch in the corner leads to 12 before Ryback goes for the powerbomb. Ryback stands and lifts Dolph up with the fireman’s.

Shell Shock to Dolph Ziggler. Pin for 1…2…3!!
Official Result: Ryback
So Ryback has been added to the list of possible muscle for the new corporation.
RATING: *1/2

Triple H and Steph are here. Maddox walks in tells Triple H and wifey that Big Show is refusing to wrestle Daniel Bryan. Triple H is about to drop some COO swag, but Steph says she’s got this and is going to do it publicly…cuz that’s how she rolls.

-Commercial Break-

We return to the presence of McMahon in the ring. She wants to introduce us to someone who helped her out a lot when she was younger. She had someone really help her when she was younger with life lessons along the way and that someone was Randy Savage

The Big Show.

Here he comes. Cole tries to explain that an ironclad contract could be rescinded. Riiiiiight. Big Show hugs Steph with one arm (aka The Friend-zone hug). Steph says that Big Show taught her a long time ago that it’s ok to do things you don’t want to do as llong as you’re willing to pay the price. Steph says right now she is Show’s 12 year old friend. She’s just going to cut to the chase. Big Show knows that he’s broke. Steph says he’s made some bad investments, Wall Street, Big Show has nothing. That iron-clad contract…if Show doesn’t perform his duties, he doesn’t see a dime. How much longer does he really have a career here? Big Show uses those acting chops from Knucklehead to bring on the tears. Stephanie says he’s giving all of this up just to not compete in ONE match. And what about Show’s biggest fear….giants, medically, don’t live as long as other people. This is about Show’s family, and that’s why tonight he’s going to fight Daniel Bryan. Steph is sorry that he is hurting, but the only person that is hurting more than The Big Show is her. She huys Show then leaves the ring while Big Show stands, a broken man.

Well that escalated quickly…

-Commercial Break-

After the break, we get Big Show in the back breakin shit up like a mad man.

Match 3: Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal of 3MB vs The Prime Time Players

Titus and Heath Slater to start. Titus ducks a right, and Heath gets a fist in. He mocks the bark, hits another right, then plays some air guitar. Titus tosses Heat into the corner and stomps him down, complete with a whistle blow each time. Titus tags in Young. Double shoulder block and a pin from Darren. 1….2..NO! Young with a knee, I believe. Heath sends Darren into the corner and Jinder gets a blind tag. Mahal with a kick, but Darren with a whip. Mahal with a shoulder block. He hits the ropes, hops over Young, Young is up, toss to the ropes, right hand, inverted atomic drop from Young and a pin for 1…2..NO! Whip from Mahal to Darren into the corner. Drew distracts, but it doesn’t work, and Darren stands atop the turnbuckle. Jinder trips him up, and Darren’s head hits the top turnbuckle. Wow, that looked pretty sweet.

Tag to Heath, and he comes in to slow shit down with a headlock on the mat. Neckbreaker from Heath gets a 2-count. Tag to Jinder, and he drops a knee on Young. Another knee, one more! He chokes up Young as Drew stares at how well his hair is cut. Jinder with a front faced headlock and Heath gets a blind tag. He uses his knee against the face, and Young rolls into the middle of the ring. Bad move, as Heath locks in another cravat. The power of the Ginger doesn’t last long, because Young turns into it and hits a headbutt. Another! Heath with a kick, he runs, and Darren hits a belly-to-belly! Tag to Titus. Tag to Jinder!

Titus with a clothesline. Another. Toss into the corner, and a big clothesline is followed by a Fall Away toss like nuthin, son! Titus with the bark, and the crowd joins in. Titus hits a sloppy big boot, but Heath is here to break the pin. Young runs in and clotheslines Heath out, and tosses Drew off the top rope.

Jinder with the high knee to the back of Darren, sending him to the outside. He turns…right into SKY HIGH from Titus. Pin for 1….2….3!!!
Official Result: The Prime Time Players
Average match, but it wasn’t on any one particular team. The Sky High looked pretty sick on Jinder, and kudos to Titus protecting Jinder.

We return to Brad Maddox on the phone with Saul Goodman. Heyman walks in and tells Brad to call Saul back. Heyman then says he’s not doing too good today because of Maddox. He put Heyman’s fate in the hands of the WWE Universe. Is Maddox aware of what would happen if CM Punk got his hands on him? We’d never see Paul Heyman again. Now, Heyman is put in a situation at NOC where it is guaranteed he’d get beat down if CM Punk wins. Is that what’s “Best for Business (DRINK)!”

Insert, Triple H. He says “Best for Business (DRINK!)” seems like his cue. Triple H is the one who approved that match. Heyman almost overreacts, but Triple H says that he has watched for years how Heyman weasled his way out all of these situations. This match pretty much guarantees that Heyman cannot weasel his way out of this. Maybe he can do just that, and if he does, Triple H will watch with a big smile on his face, but then again, we may get CM Punk giving him the beating he so richly deserves. Triple H drops the Best for Business line one more time.

Bray Wyatt Promo time! Wyatt speaks of Icarus. As he neared the sun, his wings begin to melt away. He fell into the ocean and was never heard from again. Where’s Kane? He warned him. He told him that his fire that he thinks was his friend would be his ending. When Kane allowed his pride to cloud his common sense, that’s when he knew that he was Wyatt’s. Like a lamb led to slaughter. Wyatt mockingly sings for Kane. Kane made his bed, and now, he’s burning in it. Where’s Kane?

My recap of this promo does not do it justice. I’m sure you would agree, but I’d lik to emphasize that. Good shit.

I have high expectations right now

Match 4: Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton

Lockup to start. Orton sends Cody into the corner. The ref tries to break it up, so Orton throws an elbow. Another. Cody tries to fight back with some rights and a kick to the gut. More! Whip to Orton into the corner, but Orton fires back with a clothesline. Orton sets up for a suplex. He drops Cody on the top rope then sends him head first into the turnbuckle, followed by a toss out to the outside. Orton follows, goes for a toss into the steps, but Cody stops it with the boot and throws Orton into the steps himself. He sends Orton inot the ring and pins for 1…2..NO!. He goes for another 1…2..NO! Rhodes locks in a submission but Orton stands out of it as th commentators bring up what Cody’s future wife might be thinking…you know, that person they conveniently brought up this week?

Rhodes with a dropkick and a pin for 1…2..NO! Rhodes whips Orton, fires out of the corner with a clothesline, pins again for 2, then chokes Orton up on the ropes. Orton with a surprise right and a pin for 1…2.NO! Orton hits some right hands to the chest of Cody. Orton with a stomp. He lifts Cody up and kicks the chest, then sends Cody headfirst into the buckle. Orton mounts and goes for the 10-punch. He hits it then slinks down. Whip to Cody, but Cody stops it and kicks Orton. Front suplex from Cody! Orton in the corner. Cody gets up top for a 10-punch of his own! Orton slips out from under at 9 and attacks the back. He grab Orton’s head and hits a backbreaker from the second rope! Nice! We’ll be right back!

We are back, and Cody has the upperhand on the outside! He sends Orton back in the ring, and Orton flies back out and hits a backsuplex on the barricade! Orton takes over and sends Cody into the ring. He drops a knee to Cody and pins for 1…2..NO! Orton with a cravat from behind in seated position.

We get a shot backstage of superstars watching the match with intensity. Nice touch.

The crowd loses my respect with a Randy Savage chant. Orton with a kick to the gut. Orton whips, and Cody with adropkick! Clothesline! Elbow! Whop from Orton, but Orton ducks and Cody hits the Goldust uppercut. Cody is on the apron! Springboard dropkick!! Pin for 1….2…NO!! Rhodes with a Disaster Kick attempt but Orton moves. Rhodes ith a shoulder. He goes for it again! He hits it! Pin. 1…2….NO!!! The crowd gets back on track. Rhodes is up top! He wants a moonsault! He flies! Orton sidesteps Rhodes! Rhodes falls flat! Orton with a pin for 1…2..NO! Orton lifts Rhodes and sends him to the apron. The Rope-Assisted DDT is hit! The voices are heard. He goes for the RKO. CODY COUNTERS WITH THE CROSS RHODES!! Pin for 1….2……NO!!! Orton is getting up on the apron. Rhodes goes to catch him, but Orton with the hangman. Orton flies in, goes for another RKO, but Rhodes rolls him up with a 1….2….NO!
Rhodes stands, goes for another Disaster kick, but Orton ducks and Rhodes tweaks the leg. Orton kicks the back of the knee. RKO! Pin for 1…2…3!!
Official Result: Randy Orton
I think them mentioning the wedding really, really telegraphed the ending here, as it’s almost a given Rhodes would take time off, is it not? Still, the match was pretty bad ass, as expected
RATING: ***

Triple H is here to admit that Rhodes really fought like his life was on the line, and with heart. Triple H says personally, he respects Cody. This is a business, and in business, he needs winners. He cannot let his personal feelings cloud his judgment. Triple H does the least McMahoned “You’re Fired” ever and walks out. Cody is left to sit with his thoughts.

We get a “THANK YOU CODY” and “CODY RHODES” chants, as Rhodes struggles up the ramp, being bogged down by his pain both emotionally and physically.

-Commercial Break-

We return to Cole talking about what just transpired. In case you guys were wondering…

Mrs. Rhodes

The music of CM Punk hits! He’s got a Kendo stick and a microphone. CM Punk wants to make a promise. He says these words carry a lot of weight with him, and he promises….no more empty threats and posturing. No more talking, because Punk is having a hard time right now trying to come up with what he is supposed to say next. Did we see what was done to him last week? Punk is dressed, ready to compete, but wrestling is the last thing on his mind right now. He wants to fight. He’d invite Heyman and Axel right now, but he knows they would not come, but in 13 days he’s got them both. After what they did, he’s in such a dark place that he wouldn’t even want to fight him. He’s out here not to talk to Heyman or convince us of the biblical ass beating that will go down at NOC. No, he’s here to say something to us. Everyone here from front row onward. Everyone to friends and fam, the people who bought his shit and made a sign. He wants to say that he guarantees that he’s going to get his hands on Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman. If you order NOC on PPV, you’re going to see a side of CM Punk that you have never seen before, and he can’t say it will be a side you’re going to like. He could live with it, but some people may not be comfortable with it.

Last week, Heyman said CM Punk broke his heart. At NOC, CM Punk is going to break his face. He promises.

After a video package, Cole claims “CM Punk is on the verge of ‘Breaking Bad’ come Night of Champions. Who the fuck handed them a TV Guide this week?

-Commercial Break-

Backstage, Big Show creeps up on Bryan and tells him that he tried to prevent this. Bryan says no biggie, brah, he’s going to drop whatever obstacle Triple H puts in front of him. Big Show says this is all turning too real. He can’t let what Bryan is doing effect his family. He’s in a no-win situation here. Bryan says, yes, that is correct, because he’s going to beat dat azz.

We get a recap of my beautiful and beloved! FINALLY! The end burn is what they show just before we head to the ring for a Number 1 Contender’s Match featuring Naomi, Brie, and Natalya. They are already in the ring, but before the action starts, AJ Lee skips down, bypasses Eva Maria and Nikki who are ringside, and joins in on commentary.

Match 5: Natalya vs Brie Bella vs Naomi

Brie with a kick to Nattie, but Naomi is there to attack. Natalya from behind with a roll up onto atalya for 1…2..NO! Brie is there with the X-Factor on Naomi and a pin for 1…2..NO! Natalya goes for a pin on Brie, but Brie gets out and hits a clothesline. She kicks Naomi who is on the apron, then kicks Natalya in the gut. Brie goes to shoulderblock Naomi, but Naomi hops up and drops the butt. Natalya sends Brie to the outside and goes for the sharpshooter, but Naomi rolls Nattie up for a pin!! 1…2..NO!! Naomi drags Nattie to the corner, and Brie is up top. She flies with a crossbody onto Natalya. Booty bump from Natalya! AJ claims no one deserves this and runs into the ring to attack!

Official Result: NO CONTEST
Man, that was sloppy as shit.
RATING: NR

Natalya, Brie, and AJ all attack AJ! NOOOO!!!! AJ tries to fight back, but Natalya holds onto her while Brie…..just sorta cuddles. All three of the girls leave the ring, while AJ hurts in the ring. You had one job, BIG E! ONE JOB!

A video preview for Los Matadores is shown with a little bit of backstory this time around. It does nothing to cause any more interest.

Ricardo announces RVD, and is sure to roll his Rs while doing so.

Match 5: Damien Sandow vs Rob Van Dam

Sandow is quick to attack, sending RVD into the corner with some knees and whipping him to the opposite corner. RVD fights out, though, and gets a few kicks until Sandown sends him in the corner. We’re back, and Sandow has a hold on RVD. He attacks the back of RVD then hits a back suplex. Pin for Sandow but he, instead, holds the submission in. RVD turns into it and hits some elbows. Sandow with a headbutt. He whips RVD. RVD flies upward, thinking Sandow was going to run into him, but Sandow stands still, waits for RVD to land, then hits RVD! Nicely done! Pin for 1…2…NO! RVD is up. Kick to Sandow! Ouch. RVD with some kicks tothe legs. Whip is reveresed into a Side Russian! Sandow drops the elbow. Pin for 1…2..NO! Sandow goes for another, but only gets a two. Pin for 1….2…NO! Sandow with a suplex. Pin for 1….2..NO! Sandow goes for a suplex, but RVD blocks it and rolls Sandow up for 1…2..NO! Clothesline from RVD. Another. High kick to the face! Rolling Thunder. RVD wants to fly. He is about to go up, but Sandow rolls him up for a pin! 1….2…NO!

Sandow sends RVD to the apron. Sandow walks and RVD hangs him up. RVD up top! Five Star Frog Splash! Pin from RVD. 1…2….3!!
Official Result: Rob Van Dam
A few too many submission holds for my liking, but still pretty solid.
RATING: **1/2

-Commercial Break-

If you don’t have the app, you missed Steph making the Divas title match at Night of Champions a Fatal Four Way.

Backstage, Mathews wants to know if Rhodes has some parting words. What a dummy. Rhodes says yes, he lost, it happens. It was the stipulation. He lost his job, his dream. He shouldn’t be surprised, because for over 2 decades the McMahons have hated the Rhodes. They put his dad in polkadots. His brother was The Natural! They put him in gold paint, and he was never the same. Him! He has a wife to provide for now. Mathews wants to know if he has spoken to her. Rhodes is silent. He leaves. A security guard makes sure the door closes all the way and I have NO CLUE why I found that last bit so hilarious…

-Commercial Break-

The entire roster is atop the stage yet again.

Match 6: Daniel Bryan vs The Big Show

Big Show tries to talk Bryan out of doing this. He attacks Big Show, and Show pushes him away, saying he doesn’t want to do this, his back is against the wall. Bryan attacks with kicks. Show grabs Bryan and tosses him outside, saying “Dont make me do this.” Show says calm down, don’t be prideful. Bryan runs in the ring, dropkicks the knee, drops Show. Lays in with some kicks, hits the ropes. Dropkick! Sends Bryan down. 1…Show sends Bryan away easily. Show in the corner, and Bryan with a dropkick in the corner. One more. Big Show yells that he doesn’t want to hurt Bryan, it’s not his idea. Bryan with some kicks, he hits the ropes, but Show just clotheslines him down. Official Result:
Pretty uncomfortable to watch, and not in the “oh, what a story they’re telling” way…
RATING: *

He falls to his knees and hangs on the ropes. Big Show, Triple H and Steph walk up the ramp as the rest of the wrestlers watch. Big Show looks back at his work, and the music of Randy Orton hits. Here’s the champ. He walks down the ramp, bypasses Show, and heads to the ring.

He walks slow enough for them to replay the knockout punch.
Orton stands atop Bryan, one foot on his chest, and lifts the belt in the air.

End Show (see…that’s a pun)
