Welcome to 411’s WWE Smackdown Report 5.09.14

  • Match times are not exact.
  • We get highlights from Raw, specifically the way that Ambrose lost the US Title and the big main event angle with the Wyatts, Shield and Evolution.

    US Title Match: Sheamus © vs. Dean Ambrose

    Ambrose is out alone. He shoots a single to begin, takes Sheamus down and ties up the legs and then tries to rip off his nose. Back to the feet, side headlock takedown by Sheamus. Back to the feet, off the ropes and a shoulder block by Sheamus connects. A clothesline follows and he covers for 2. Sheamus now works the arm, and grounds Ambrose. Ambrose fights to his feet, they exchange rights, off the ropes and a Thesz press by Ambrose. They roll to the floor, ands brawl ringside. Sheamus slams Ambrose off of the announce table, Ambrose battles back, breaks the count, but that allows Sheamus to hit the Finlay roll on the floor…

    ~COMMERCIAL BREAK~

    Back from commercial as Sheamus is in control, but Ambrose fights back and hits the cross body and crazy fists. Back elbows in the corner, Sheamus then charges in, Ambrose moves and Sheamus hits the post. Suicide dive by Ambrose follows and then he rolls Sheamus back in. Ambrose off the second rope and hits a chop block, locks in the figure four now. Sheamus makes the ropes, and Ambrose slowly breaks. Sheamus kicks at Ambrose and hits the Irish curse and covers for 2. Sheamus lays the boots to Ambrose and locks in the cloverleaf. Ambrose makes the ropes for the break. Ambrose to the apron and Sheamus then pulls Ambrose’s short over his face and clubs away at his chest. Sheamus pulls him back in, kicks him in the face but Ambrose rebounds with a jawbreaker lariat and both men are down. They work to their feet and trade rights, boot by Sheamus, and then catches Ambrose off the ropes with a brogue kick! Ambrose rolls to the floor. Sheamus is down and working to his feet, Ambrose just breaks the count and is back in. The brogue kick connects again and that is all.

  • Reigns faces Mark Henry and Rollins faces Batista tonight.

  • Paul Heyman joins the commentary team. His client, Brock Lesnar, conquered the streak.
  • Bad News Barrett has some bad news.

    Cesaro and Bad News Barrett vs. RVD and Big E

    RVD and Barrett to begin. Boot by Barrett, sends RVD to the corner, but RVD back with a kick off the ropes. He goes after Cesaro, which leads to Barrett leveling RVD with a clothesline. Back into the ring and Barrett covers for 2. Barrett with the headlock, RVD fights to his feet but Barrett slams him down by his hair. Spin kick by RVD, tag to Cesaro. Big E in as well, clotheslines follow. A belly to belly by Big E and then the running splash follows for 2. To the corner, STO by Big E and another cover for 2 as Barrett breaks that up. RVD in, accidentally kicks Big E as Cesaro ducks. Barrett slams RVD to the barricade, neutralizer by Cesaro and he pins Big E.

  • Highlights of Bryan vs. Kane from Extreme Rules.

  • Lana struts her stuff.

    Rusev w/Lana vs. Kofi Kingston

    And we have a rematch from Raw here. Kofi uses his speed early, to the floor and stuns Rusev off the ropes. Kofi tries to take advantage but Rusev levels him with a kick. Kofi fires back, hits a kick and then a dropkick. Mounted rights by Kofi, looks for a sunset flip, countered by Rusev, but Kofi then connects with another dropkick. High cross by Kofi, but Rusev kicks out before 1. Spinning uranage slam by Rusev. Rusev CRUSH. He thusly humble Kofi with the accolade for the win.

  • The Wyatts appear backstage. Bray says anything can burn if you find the right spark. Everything that they have built must return to ash. We are slaves to judgment, and it is that that tells him to survive and to adapt. And it tells Cena that he is right to fear Bray. They are going on a trip, and where they go, no one ever comes back.

  • We get a Bo Dallas promo. BOLIEVE!

    Santino and Emma vs. Fandango and Layla

    I believe that this is part 237 of this feud. Santino and Fandango to begin. Lock up, off the ropes and a shoulder block by Fandango. Off the ropes again, hip tosses and arm drags by Santino. Side headlock follows, but Fandango takes him to the corner and lays in some shoulder blocks. Fandango on the 2nd ropes, misses a knee drop. Tags to Emma and Layla. Thesz press by Emma, to the corner and Emma sidesteps her, and locks in the DilEMMA. Emma sandwich follows. Emma gets the pink cobra out. Santino in to stop Fandango, who send shim to the floor. Emma gets distracted, and Layla rolls her up for the win.

  • Santino checks on Emma as Fandango and Layla make out on the ramp. Fandango is a lucky man.

  • Mark Henry cuts a mini-box promo, and promises to put Rings into the hall of pain as payback for the beatings the Shield gave him in the past.

    Roman Reigns vs. Mark Henry

    Lock up to begin, to the corner and Henry breaks clean. Lock up again, to the corner and Henry slams Reigns back and talks some junk. They stand off and talk trash and trade big rights. Knee by Henry to the gut, and Reigns is down. Henry yells that Reigns is all by himself tonight. To the corner, reigns hits hard and drops to a knee. Rights by Henry follow, and then tosses Reigns to the floor. Henry follows, lays Reigns on the apron and then bends him around the steel post to work over the injured ribs from Monday’s beat down. Back in the ring, off the ropes and a big clothesline connects for Reigns. A corner clothesline follows, tries another but Henry levels him with a clothesline. Henry now looks for the corner Vader bomb, but Reigns to his feet and beats on Henry. He then picks up Henry out of the corner and hits the Samoan drop. Reigns sets in the corner, the SPEAR connects and that is all.

    Los Matadores and El Torito vs. Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, and Hornswoggle w/Jinder Mahal

    I believe that this is part 382 of this feud. A Matadore and McIntyre to begin. Rights by the Matadore to begin, but McIntyre with a dropkick and cover for 2. Mounted rights follow, tag to Slater who lays in some kicks. A nee drop follows and then more rights. Tag back to McIntyre. They beat down the Matadore, tag to Hornswoggle and they splash him onto the Matadore. Hornswoggle lays in some kicks, tags to McIntyre and they blow a head scissors spot in the corner. Slater tags in, takes out the other Matadore, but then eats a flapjack. Tag to the other Matadore, dropkick to Mahal, and then he and McIntyre collide as they both try a cross body. Tags to Hornswoggle and Torito. Torito bites Hornswoggle in the ass, laughs at him and then Hornswoggle punches him in the face. Kick by Torito, and spears Hornswoggle in the ass and sends him to the floor. Hornswoggle is pissed, heads back in and gets mad at Slater for laughing. He goes after Torito, sunset flip try by Torito, Hornswoggle sits down and misses. Big splash by Torito and Slater makes the save. Slater tags in, misses a boot and Torito with a springboard moonsault and pins Slater.

  • Highlights of the Bryan vs. Kane Extreme Rules match and the horror movie shit from Raw.

    Seth Rollins vs. Batista

    Batista charges in and slams Rollins to the corner. Rights and chops by Rollins, and then a dropkick connects. Rollins misses a corner splash, and Batista connects with a clothesline. Off the ropes and a boot by Rollins. A dropkick follows and sends Batista to the corner. Rollins looks for the suicide dive, but Batista walks away, so he holds up. Rollins tries a baseball slide, but Batista pulls a Finlay and traps him in the ring skirt and pummels him…

    ~COMMERCIAL BREAK~

    Back from commercial as Batista is in control, slamming Rollins to the mat. Rollins tries to fight back, to his feet, but Batista slams him to the corner. Batista lays the boots to Rollins in the corner, and then works the arm of Batista that is taped up from the PPV. Batista shoots Rollins to the corner, and then hits a suplex and covers for 2. to the corner, Batista charges and misses a spear and eats the post. Rollins hits a running forearm and another. Rights follow, and just beats down Batista in the corner. Batista fights out of a neck breaker, but Rollins hits a rap around clothesline. Batista escapes a sliced bread, Rollins to the apron and his springs in, misses the knee strike and Batista connects with the spinebuster. Batista bomb try, Rollins with rights to escape, and hits an Enziguri. Batista rolls to the floor, Rollins heads up top and flies to the floor, but Batista side steps him and Rollins crashes into the announce table. Batista beats the count back in, and Rollins is counted out.

    OFFICIAL RESULT: Batista @ 11:00 via pin

  • Following the match, trainers check on Rollins. Batista hasn’t had enough and tosses Rollins back into the ring. He beats him down, and hits the Batista bomb.

    The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan) vs. John Cena and The Uso Brothers (Jimmy and Jey)

    They went to commercial right after the entrances, so the rest should be uninterrupted. Back form commercial and we get the bell, Cena and Rowan to begin. Cena starts to kick ass immediately, and beats down Rowan in the corner. Corner splash follows, ands then the suplex for Cena. Harper tags in, and Cena attacks with rights. Off the ropes, running bulldog by Cena. Tag to Jey, works over Harper, tag to Jimmy and a big boot and roil up follows for 2 for Jimmy. Harper cuts him off with an uppercut, tag to Rowan and Jimmy is able to get him to the corner and tag in Jey. Uppercuts to Rowan, off the ropes and a boot. Rowan slams him to the corner and bull rushes him to his corner. The Wyatts control in their corner, tag back to Harper and he delivers uppercuts and takes Jey to the mat. Catapult into the ropes by Harper follows, and then covers for 2. Tag to Wyatt, he lays the boots to Jey, and then rights follow. Off the ropes, elbow drop and then rapid fire forearm strikes follow. Wyatt with rights, hits the corner splash and keeps control. Wacky Wyatt walk now, scares Jey and then follows with rights. Jey with forearms to all the Wyatts, sends Bray to the floor and needs the tag. Rowan rolls Wyatt back in, Harper tags in and cuts off Jey. Gator roll by Harper and into the side headlock. Jey fights again to his feet, tries a slam but fails. Superkick by Harper, and a tag to Rowan. Side headlock applied, but Jey slams him to the corner. Rowan back with a body slam, but misses the running splash. Tags to Wyatt and Jimmy. Jimmy runs wild, leg lariat to Wyatt and then the corner splash. Samoan clambake follows, covers for 2. Cena with a right to Wyatt, Wyatt runs and he tags out. Superkick to Harper! Cena and Wyatt brawl, Rowan over as well, flying Uso onto the pile! Harper then decapitates the other Uso with a clothesline and scores the victory.
