411’s WWE Battleground 2014 Report: 07.20.14

Kickoff Show Match
Adam Rose vs. Fandango

Fandango immediately takes Rose down to the mat, but he's distracted by Summer Rae and Layla leading the Rosebuds around ringside. Fandango rolls out of the ring to confront Summer Rae and Layla, but he gets a slap from each of them in return. Rose heads out of the ring, surprises Fandango from behind, and rolls him back into the ring. Rose whips Fandango to the corner, waits for him to rebound, and hits him with the Party Foul for the three count.

Match Result: Adam Rose defeats Fandango with the Party Foul.

Kickoff Show Match
Naomi vs. Cameron

Naomi goes right at Cameron and traps her in the corner, but the referee forces the clean break. Cameron charges Naomi and shoves her through the ropes. Naomi tumbles to the outside and Cameron follows her to the outside. Cameron rams Naomi's lower back into the ring apron and rolls her back into the ring. Cameron locks in a modified bow-and-arrow in the middle of the ring, but Naomi breaks free. Naomi slugs Cameron and takes her down with a Thesz Press. Naomi goes to work with the ground and pound before kicking Cameron out of the ring. Cameron tries to flee up the ramp, but Naomi follows her and whips her into the barrier. Naomi tosses Cameron back into the ring, whips her to the ropes, and ducks her head to telegraph the back body drop, so Cameron kicks her in the face. Naomi and Cameron continue to brawl, but Cameron sneaks behind and gets a quick schoolgirl pin for the three count. Naomi says that Cameron had a handful of tights, but Cameron walks away with the win.

Match Result: Cameron defeats Naomi with a schoolgirl pin.

The Usos (Champions) vs. The Wyatt Family

Jey Uso and Erick Rowan start the match, and Rowan immediately levels Jey with a clothesline. Rowan whips Jey to the corner, stomps him down to the mat, and makes the tag to Harper. Harper whips Jey to the ropes, but Jey catches him with a running clothesline on the rebound. Harper tumbles out of the ring and the Usos set up for Uso Crazy, but Rowan pulls Harper to safety to regroup. Harper returns to the ring and immediately regains control. Harper stomps Jey down to the mat and makes the tag to Rowan. Rowan traps Jey in the corner, drags him back to the middle of the ring, and wrenches on his neck. Jey fights back to his feet, but Rowan immediately sends him back down to the mat with a back elbow shot. Rowan goes for the cover but only gets a two count. Rowan makes the tag to Harper and holds Jey on the mat as Harper delivers a low knee shot to the face. Harper alligator rolls Jey around the ring, but Jey counters into a back suplex. Jey dives across the ring and dives to make the tag to Jimmy. Jimmy charges into the ring but eats a big boot from Harper. Harper covers Jimmy and gets the three count. THE WYATT FAMILY TAKE THE FIRST FALL. Harper makes the tag to Rowan, and Rowan hits a running splash for a two count. Rowan locks in the head vice in the middle of the ring. Jimmy fights back to his feet and goes for a scoop slam, but he falls backward and ends up covered by Rowan. Jimmy kicks out at two, and Rowan makes the tag to Harper. Harper hits a pair of uppercuts and grinds Jimmy's face into the second rope. Harper chokes Jimmy against the mat and goes for a back suplex, but Jimmy floats over and lands on his feet. Jimmy tumbles back to his own corner, and Jey makes the tag. Harper didn't see the tag, and that gives Jey enough time to slide behind him and get the rollup pin for the three count. THE USOS TAKE THE SECOND FALL. Harper makes the tag to Rowan, and Rowan beats Jey down to the mat before making the tag back to Harper. Harper continues the assault and makes the quick tag back to Harper. Harper goes for a big boot in the corner, but Jey ducks, causing Harper to tumble over the top rope to the outside. Jimmy gets the hot tag, runs across the top of the barricade, and dives onto Harper on the outside. Harper rolls back into the ring as Jimmy heads up top. Jimmy hits a top rope Samoan Splash for a two count. Jimmy hits an enzuigiri and follows up with the Stink Face. Jimmy heads back to the corner, but Harper follows him and splashes him in the corner. Jimmy creates distances and hits a top rope corkscrew moonsault for another two count. Harper gets back to his feet and regains control with a big boot that sends Jimmy tumbling to the outside. Harper follows up with a suicide dive the sends Jimmy crashing into the barrier. Harper rolls Jimmy back into the ring and hits the sitout bomberbomb, but Jimmy kicks out at two. Harper makes the tag to Rowan and Rowan heads up top. ROWAN GOES FOR A TOP ROPE DIVING SPLASH, BUT JIMMY ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY! Jimmy makes the tag to Jey, and Jey hits a top rope Samoan Splash to Rowan for a two count. Jey heads back up top, but Harper grabs his boot from the outside. That gives Rowan enough time to make it to the corner and head up top with Jey. Jimmy heads up top with Jey and Rowan and makes the blind tag. ROWAN SUPERPLEXES BOTH JIMMY AND JEY FROM THE TOP ROPE! Rowan covers Jimmy but only gets a two count. Rowan makes the tag to Harper as Jey catches Rowan with a super kick. Harper kicks Jimmy in the face, but Jimmy responds with a super kick of his own. HARPER DAMN NEAR DECAPITATES JIMMY WITH A CLOTHESLINE, BUT JEY BREAKS UP THE PIN! Jimmy hits another super kick, and Jey makes the tag. The Usos hit a double super kick to Harper. THE USOS HIT A DOUBLE SAMOAN SPLASH FROM THE TOP! Jey covers Harper and FINALLY gets the three count to take the third fall.

Match Result: The Usos defeats the Wyatt Family with a Double Samoan Splash.

Seth Rollins is being interviewed backstage before his match with Dean Ambrose, but Ambrose attacks in the middle of the interview. Ambrose pounds Rollins down to the floor and tosses him into a stack of crates. Ambrose tosses a lighting rig onto Rollins as several road agents try to pull him away. Triple H arrives on the scene and orders that Ambrose be ejected from the building. Triple H isn't going to let Ambrose screw up his plans. Triple H tells the road agents that he doesn't want to see Ambrose again tonight as they drag him away from Rollins. Does that mean Ambrose vs. Rollins has been cancelled?

Divas Championship Match
AJ Lee (Champion) vs. Paige

AJ and Paige shake hands the start. THE CODE OF HONOR! AJ and Paige lock up in the middle of the ring, and AJ traps Paige against the ropes. The referee calls for the clean break, and AJ grants it. AJ gets a quick rollup for a two count, but Paige answers with a back kick for a two count of her own. Paige drapes AJ across the second rope and hits her with a volley of knee shots to the gut. Paige drags AJ back to the middle of the ring and locks in a rear chin lock. AJ breaks the hold, so Paige transitions to a bow-and-arrow. AJ rolls out of the bow-and-arrow and gets back to her feet, but Paige levels her with a clothesline for a two count. Paige goes for a scoop slam, but AJ counters into a tornado DDT. AJ uses the ropes to get back to her feet, but Paige charges at her and tackles her out of the ring. Paige whips AJ into the barrier and rolls her back into the ring. Paige heads up top, but AJ follows her up. Paige hits a sloppy sunset flip powerbomb off the top for another two count. Paige charges AJ in the corner, but AJ gets her boots up in Paige's face. AJ heads up top and dives at Paige, but Paige catches her. Paige goes for a swinging side slam, but AJ counters into the Black Widow. Paige fights out of the Black Widow and immediately follows up with the Paige Turner. Paige goes for the cover but only gets a two count. Paige goes for the cloverleaf, but AJ kicks her away. AJ springs back to her feet and hits the Shining Wizard for the three count.

Match Result: AJ Lee defeats Paige with the Shining Wizard.

Jack Swagger w/ Zeb Colter vs. Rusev w/ Lana

Rusev charges at Swagger to start. Swagger slides behind Rusev and goes for the Patriot Lock, but Rusev slides out of the ring. Rusev rushes back into the ring, traps Swagger in the corner, and kicks him down to the mat. Rusev charges Swagger in the corner, but Swagger slides out of the way and once again goes for the Patriot Lock. Rusev rolls out of the ring to strategize with Lana, but this time Swagger give chase. Swagger rolls Rusev back into the ring and pounds on him in the corner. Swagger hits the ropes, but Rusev cuts him off and hits a fallaway slam to take control. Rusev clamps down on Swagger's shoulder and pounds on his chest. Swagger breaks the hold, but Rusev traps him in the corner and repeatedly kicks the hamstring. Rusev tosses Swagger of the top rope, and Swagger hits the Spanish announce table hard. Rusev tries to head to the outside, but the referee cuts him off. Swagger climbs back up onto the ring apron, but Rusev punches him down to the floor. Swagger tries again, but Rusev blocks him again. Swagger finally charges into the ring and levels Rusev with a running shoulder block. Rusev gets back to his feet, but Swagger hits a big boot followed by the Swagger Bomb for a two count. Swagger connects with a belly-to-belly slam and goes for the Patriot Lock, but Rusev kicks him away. Rusev regains control with a knee lift to the face. Rusev goes for a side kick, but Swagger catches the leg and locks in the Patriot Lock. Rusev struggles and FINALLY makes it to the rope to break the hold. Rusev rolls out of the ring and limps around ringside. Swagger follows him out of the ring, hits a chop block from behind, and locks in the Patriot Lock on the outside. Rusev rolls forward to break the hold and send Swagger head-first into the ring steps. The referee has been counting both men. Rusev makes it back into the ring at nine, but Swagger is unconscious. The referee reaches ten on Swagger, and Rusev wins by count out. After the match, Rusev drags the unconscious Swagger back into the ring and locks in the Accolade as an exclamation point.

Match Result: Rusev defeats Jack Swagger by count out.

Seth Rollins comes down to the ring so that he can be announced as the winner by forfeit. Rollins is announced as the winner and begins to make his way back up the ramp, but HERE COMES AMBROSE! Ambrose tosses Rollins into the crowd and beats him around the arena. The action begins to head back toward the ring, and Rollins tosses Ambrose over the barrier. Rollins climbs up onto the barrier, but Ambrose flips him onto the Spanish announce table. A herd of referees and road agents try to drag Ambrose away, but he breaks free from them. AMBROSE RUNS ACROSS THE ANNOUNCE TABLES AND HITS A FLYING THESZ PRES TO ROLLINS! Referees drag Ambrose down to the ground as Triple H heads to ringside. The road agents try to carry Ambrose up the ramp, but Rollins tackles all of them. The referees pull back Rollins as the road agents carry Ambrose up the ramp. Rollins tackles everyone again, but the road agents finally manage to drag Ambrose to the back. Triple H raises Rollins' hand in victory as the referees continue to try to maintain order.

Match Result: Seth Rollins defeats Dean Ambrose by forfeit.

Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt w/ The Wyatt Family

Wyatt traps Jericho in the corner and goes to work with punches and knee shots. Jericho slaps Wyatt, but Wyatt slaps him right back and chokes him against the second rope. Jericho regains control and chokes Wyatt against the second rope. Jericho chops Wyatt in the corner and whips him to the opposite corner, but Wyatt levels Jericho with a back elbow shot on the rebound. Wyatt goes for a DDT, but Jericho counters into an attempted Walls of Jericho, but Harper and Rowan hop up onto the ring apron to distract Jericho and cause him to break the hold. Wyatt locks in a standing side head lock, but Jericho breaks the hold and connects with a drop kick. Wyatt rolls to the ring apron and gets back to his feet, but Jericho hits a springboard drop kick to knock him down to the arena floor. Harper and Rowan help Wyatt get back to his feet on the outside, but Jericho heads up top and takes out all three men with a flying splash from the top. Jericho rolls Wyatt back into the ring, but Harper grabs Jericho's boot to prevent him from climbing back into the ring as well. The referee sees Harper's interference and ejects both Harper and Rowan from ringside. Jericho watches Harper and Rowan head up the ramp, and that distraction gives Wyatt enough time to blast Jericho off the ring apron and hard into the barrier. Wyatt retrieves Jericho from ringside and tosses him back into the ring. Wyatt charges Jericho in the corner, but Jericho slides out of the way, causing Wyatt to post himself in the corner. Jericho heads up top and connects with a double ax handle. Jericho goes for a running bulldog, but Wyatt evades. Wyatt hit Jericho with a back breaker and a gut buster. Jericho gets back to his feet and chops Wyatt's chest, but Wyatt whips Jericho to the ropes and levels him with a back elbow shot. Wyatt goes for a running senton, but Jericho gets his knees up. Jericho heads up top, but Wyatt follows him up. Jericho and Wyatt slug it out up top. Wyatt sets up for a superplex, but Jericho knocks him down to the mat. Wyatt rushes back to the corner and pulls Jericho into a jaw breaker off the top. Wyatt charges Jericho in the corner, but Jericho gets a boot up. Jericho hits the running bulldog and goes for the Lionsault, but Wyatt gets his knees up. WYATT CRABS UP AND CRAWLS TO THE CORNER! Jericho climbs to his feet in the corner, but Wyatt connects with a running splash. Wyatt goes for another running splash, but Jericho catches him with an elbow shot from behind. Jericho tackles Wyatt, causing Wyatt's head to bounce awkwardly off the bottom turnbuckle. Jericho goes for the cover but only gets a two count. Wyatt hits Jericho with a DDT on the ring apron and rolls him back into the ring for a two count. Wyatt goes for Sister Abigail, but Jericho counters into an attempted Walls of Jericho, but Wyatt kicks him away. Wyatt sets his sights on Jericho and heads for him, but

Match Result: Chris Jericho defeats Bray Wyatt with the Code Breaker.

Seth Rollins is heading out of the arena with his suitcase, escorted by security. He dismisses the security but then starts to get a bit paranoid. Rollins looks all around the parking lot… AND HERE COMES AMBROSE OUT OF THE TRUNK OF ROLLINS' CAR! Ambrose tosses Rollins onto the hood of the car, and Ambrose and Rollins brawl on top of the car. Rollins tosses Ambrose off the car, scurries inside, and drives away before Ambrose can get back to his feet.

Battleground Battle Royal for the Intercontinental Championship

Khali quickly eliminates Xavier Woods and Zack Ryder. Well crap. Titus O'Neil sets his sights on Khali, and everyone else in the match helps him to eliminate Khali. Sin Cara tries to slingshot from the apron into the ring, but Bo Dallas shoves him away for the elimination. Rybaxel toss R-Truth for the elimination, but Axel quickly gets tossed as well. Diego clotheslines Sandow over the top rope to eliminate him, but Ryback then tosses Diego. Ryback scoop slams Del Rio, and the only two men standing are Ryback and Sheamus. Sheamus and Ryback square off in the middle of the ring, and Sheamus Brogue Kicks Ryback out of the ring for the elimination. Bo Dallas pounds on Heath Slater in the corner as Del Rio chokes Cesaro in the opposite corner. Sheamus pounds on Big E and then sets his sights on Titus O'Neil. Bo Dallas shoves O'Neil out of the ring and begins to celebrate, but Cesaro quickly puts a stop to that. Kofi tries to eliminate Cesaro, but Cesaro lands on the ring apron. Cesaro tries to back body drop Kingston out of the ring, but Kingston hangs on to Cesaro to keep himself from touching the ground. Ziggler connects with a drop kick to Del Rio. Del Rio locks in the cross arm breaker on Ziggler using the top rope, but Ziggler breaks free and bounces Del Rio's neck off the top rope to eliminate Del Rio. Big E tries to guerrilla press Cesaro out of the ring, but Cesaro floats over and belly-to-belly slams Big E over the top rope and out of the ring. Cesaro tosses Kingston, but Kingston lands on Big E's shoulders on the outside. Cesaro suplexes Kingston back into the ring but then suplexes him over the top rope to finally eliminate him. HEATH SLATER CATCHES CESARO FROM BEHIND AND ELIMINATES HIM! Slater's celebration is short lived, as Sheamus quickly tosses him. Sheamus pounds on Bo Dallas' chest, and Ziggler follows up to eliminate Dallas. Sheamus and Ziggler are the only two men in the ring, but I don't think Miz has been eliminated. My guess is that he's playing possum somewhere outside the ring. Sheamus goes for a powerbomb, but Ziggler floats over awkwardly. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick, but Ziggler ducks. Sheamus tosses Ziggler, but Ziggler lands on the ring apron. Ziggler slides under the bottom rope and clotheslines Sheamus over the top rope, but Sheamus hangs on to the top rope. Ziggler goes for the sling

Match Result: Miz wins the Battle Royal, last eliminating Dolph Ziggler.

John Cena (Champion) vs. Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton vs. Kane

Orton and Kane toss Cena before turning their attention to Reigns. Kane clotheslines Reigns in the corner and kicks Cena off the ring apron. Orton and Kane double suplex Reigns. Orton goes for the cover as Kane guards against a Cena save, but Reigns kicks out at two. Cena finally sneaks back in the opposite side of the ring and catches Orton with a running bulldog. Kane tosses Reigns before joining forces with Orton to double team Cena. Orton goes to the Garvin Stomp as Kane incapacitates Reigns on the outside. Kane is clearly letting Orton take the lead and simply watching his Orton's back. Kane heads back to the outside and tries to slam Reigns' head into the ring post, but Reigns reverses and instead slams Kane's head into the ring post. That leaves Cena alone with Orton in the ring, and Cena hits the Protobomb followed by the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment, but Orton grabs the ropes to block. Cena tosses Orton over the top rope and turns to face off with Reigns in the middle of the ring. Kane returns to take out Reigns as Orton drags Cena out of the ring. Kane levels Reigns and goes for the cover, but Reigns kicks out at two. Orton rushes back into the ring and gets in Kane's face for going for the win. Kane snaps and goes after Orton. Kane takes Orton up top, but Cena and Reigns get under Kane for the superplex / double powerbomb Tower of Doom spot. Cena and Reigns again face off in the middle of the ring, but Kane sits up. Cena and Reigns kick Kane out of the ring, but Orton sneaks up behind Reigns and hits his patented back breaker. Orton goes for the rope-assisted DDT on Cena, but Reigns makes the save, so Orton hits the rope-assisted DDT on BOTH Cena and Reigns. Orton covers Reigns, but Kane breaks up the pin. Orton rolls Reigns into a half crab, but Reigns powers out. Reigns reverses into a half crab of his own, but Cena locks in a crossface for a double team STF. Kane tries to make the save, but Cena hits him with the Attitude Adjustment onto Orton. Cena locks in the STF on Orton, but Orton crawls to the ropes. Cena drags Orton back to the middle of the ring and reapplies the STF. Orton is about to tap, but Reigns catches Orton's hand and pulls him out of the ring. Reigns tosses Orton over the announce table and slides into the ring. Cena and Reigns face off in the middle of the ring for the third time in the match, and this time they're finally able to slug it out. Reigns hits Cena with a clothesline in the corner and follows up with a Samoan Drop. Cena regains control and goes for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Reigns springs back to his feet and hits the Superman Punch. REIGNS HITS CENA WITH THE SPEAR… BUT KANE BREAKS UP THE PIN! Reigns and Kane slug it out in the middle of the ring, and Reigns drops Kane with a clothesline. Superman Punch to Kane! Reigns heads out of the ring and hits running high drop kicks to Cena, Orton, and Kane. REIGNS SPEARS ORTON THROUGH THE BARRICADE! Reigns heads back into the ring and sets his sights on Kane. Kane counters the spear into an attempted Choke Slam, but Reigns counters the Choke Slam into a spear. Reigns goes for the cover, but Cena breaks up the pin. Cena tosses Reigns and hits Kane with the Attitude Adjustment, but this time Reigns breaks up the pin. Cena hits Reigns with the Attitude Adjustment, but Kane breaks up the pin. Kane choke slams Cena and Reigns. Kane covers Reigns, but Reigns kicks out at two. Kane goes for the Tombstone Piledriver, but Reigns floats over and hits the spear. Reigns makes the cover, but Orton breaks it up. Orton RKOs Reigns, but Cena hits Orton with the Attitude Adjustment. Cena covers Kane and gets the three count.

Match Result: John Cena defeats Kane after a spear from Roman Reigns.
