411's WWE SmackDown Report
Posted by Nick Marsico on 04.07.2006

SmackDown is here again. I fell asleep and missed the first 4 minutes of the show, so we are joining the first match already in progress...

Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. MNM (Joey Mercury & Johnny Nitro)
Non Title Match

Nitro rolls Kendrick back into the ring, and inside Mercury hangs him over the top rope gut first, and that gets a 2 count. Nitro gets tagged in and they Irish whip Kendrick into the corner gut first, and Nitro gets 2 off his breakdance legdrop. He shoulder blocks Kendrick back into the corner, but Kendrick fights back and knocks Mercury off the apron. Small package by Kendrick, but Mercury distracts the ref. Nitro takes back control and gets multiple knees on Kendrick, and a Russian leg sweep gets him another two count. Nitro brings Kendrick to the ropes and chokes him over the second rope, and Melina gives him a kick in the head. Tag Mercury and he gets 2 off a double leg drop from both men, and Mercury gets 3 more failed pin attempts. He punches Kendrick down and tags Nitro. Backbreaker by Mercury and Nitro slingshots in with an elbow drop off Mercury's knee. That gets two before London breaks up the pin. Front facelock by Nitro and Kendrick back body drops him out and gets the tag, but the referee doesn't see it. MNM double teams Kendrick with stomps, but he flips out of a double backdrop suplex and gets the tag.

London in with clotheslines and dropkicks for everybody and whips Mercury into Nitro. Spinkick gets two on Mercury, and the dropsault knocks Nitro out of the ring and he lands on Mercury with the moonsault portion for a 2 count. Mercury pushes London to the ropes where Nitro is there to hang him over the rope, but Mercury only gets two. MNM sets up the Snapshot but Kendrick dropkicks Nitro out of the ring and follows him out with a plancha while London gets a sunset flip for a very near fall. London goes up top but Nitro pushes him off, but Kendrick again makes the save, and a victory roll gets the pin for London on Mercury.

Your winners are Paul London & Brian Kendrick in approximately 11 minutes.

Theodore R Long is backstage on the phone telling somebody about Orton's title shot tonight. Booker T and Sharmell barge in all smiling and happy, and Long reminds him of his loss to the Boogeyman as well as the worm kiss to Sharmell. Nothing's going to make Booker T is very happy tonight, and he reveals that he got a restraining order against the Boogeyman. If he comes within 100 feet of Booker T or Sharmell he will be locked up. There is no such thing anymore as a Boogeyman.

Tonight, it is Randy Orton versus Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Championship, and here's a video of Mysterio's Road to the Championship: his victory in the Royal Rumble.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Booker T vs. Gunner Scott (AKA Brent Albright)

Lockup and Booker gets a quick go behind and takedown. Hammerlock into a side headlock by Booker, and Scott whips him out but gets taken down by a shoulder block. Scott comes back with a quick drop toehold. Booker gets some knees to the gut and a scoop slam, then follows up with a chinlock. Scott armdrags out and gets some punches to Booker, but a thumb to the eye stops him. Scott counters a vertical suplex, but Booker quickly catches him with a superkick. Chop by Booker and an Irish whip leads to a forearm that knocks Scott down. Scott blocks a pair of right hands and gets a pair of his own but runs into a spinebuster from Booker T.

All of a sudden the lights are out and the Boogeyman's music plays, and Scott comes from behind and gets a rollup and pins Booker!

Your winner is Gunner Scott in 2 minutes and 53 seconds.

Theodore R comes out and says that there must have been a miscue with the Boogeyman's music, and then raises Gunner Scott's hand and announces him as the winner.

The Undertaker will face Mark Henry in a WrestleMania rematch tonight. Another stop on Rey Mysterio's Road to the Championship happened at No Way Out where he was pinned by Randy Orton and lost his title shot, however the General Manager Theodore R Long gave him his shot back, making the match a Triple Threat. Tonight Mysterio will make his first title defense against Randy Orton.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Moments ago, Gunner Scott pinned Booker T after he was distracted by the Boogeyman's music.

Backstage, Scott is celebrating, and Chris Benoit congratulates him.

Simon Dean vs. Chris Benoit

Benoit's music hits before Dean can even get all the way down the aisle, so Dean turns around and rolls his Dean Machine at Benoit but takes a back elbow and goes flying off. Benoit rolls him into the ring, and here's the match. Benoit attacks him in the corner and gets a quick snap suplex. He gets a chop and a punch on Dean and follows that up with a backdrop suplex and an elbow drop. Irish whip and Benoit meets Dean's stomach with a knee. Scoop slam by Benoit but he misses an elbow. Dean brings Benoit to the corner and gets some shoulder blocks, and takes Benoit out of the corner with a bulldog. He gets a front facelock and some knees to Benoit and follows with a vertical suplex for 2. Dean into a Cobra Clutch, but Benoit elbows out. German suplex by Benoit and he holds on for one more and locks in the Crippler Crossface for the submission.

Your winner is Chris Benoit in 3 minutes and 8 seconds.

As the bell rings, a video runs for JBL that invites us to a celebration of JBL's United States Championship win. The video then repeats "J-B-L", seemingly trying to get a chant started.

Coming up next, the World Heavyweight Championship will be defended by Rey Mysterio against Randy Orton in his first title defense.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

The final stop on Mysterio's Road to the Championship was actually winning the title in the Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 22.

Randy Orton is backstage getting ready for his match, and Kurt Angle approaches. He notices that Kurt doesn't have his title, but tells Kurt where he can find it. After this match, Kurt will be able to find it around Randy's waist, because he's about to win it. Angle slaps him in the face and yells twice.

Orton is here, and coming up next is the World Heavyweight Championship match.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Orton is introduced, and now here comes the NEW World Heavyweight Champion, Rey Mysterio.

Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio
World Heavyweight Championship

Lockup to start after an extended staredown, and Orton backs Rey into the corner and gives him a clean break. Orton pushes Rey and Mysterio pushes him right back. Another lockup and Mysterio gets a side headlock. Headlock takeover now, and Orton reverses into a headscissors and chokes Rey. Rey gets out but gets caught in a side headlock. Rey pushes Orton off but gets caught by a quick shoulder block, but Orton only gets one. Irish whip and Rey slides under Orton and gets a kick from his back, but Orton stops him dead and pounds him in the corner. Irish whip and Rey slingshots over Orton, but Orton drops his lever and nails Rey with a European uppercut for 2. Chinlock by Orton and Rey stands and gets out. He gets a kick and goes for the wheelbarrow bulldog, but Orton drops him on his face, but it only gets him a one count. Another chinlock by Orton, and Rey stands but takes some forearms. Irish whip and Rey comes back with a huge tilt-a-whirl headscissors. Irish whip reversed by Orton and Rey gets a drop toehold onto the ropes. Orton ducks from a 619 and rolls out of the ring, but Rey catches him with a pair of boots from between the ropes, and Mysterio springboards of the top out of the ring and comes down on Orton with the seated senton.

Rey throws Orton back in and gets a near fall. Orton stumbles into the corner where Rey climbs up and gets the 10 punch, then gets 10 more for good measure. Orton falls flat on his face and Mysterio is in control. Irish whip reversed and Orton holds the arm and transitions it into his neck/backbreaker move (which needs a name badly) for 2. Another chinlock by Randy keeps Rey grounded. Mysterio tries to fight out with elbows, but Orton grabs the mask and whips Rey down to the mat. He gets a quick 2 count and goes right back to the chinlock. Rey tries to make the ropes but Orton pulls him away and unleashes a series of forearms to Rey's chest. Irish whip and Rey hooks the top rope. He jumps out of the ring and tries to springboard in, but Orton catches him with a dropkick that launches Rey out of the ring.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Back on SmackDown, Orton has Rey in another chinlock, this time with bodyscissors hooked in. Mysterio reaches the ropes and Orton uses the 5 count before he breaks. Irish whip out of the corner, but Rey meets Randy with an elbow. Rey slingshots into the wheelbarrow position again, but Orton slams him down face first. That gets two as Rey tries to roll outside, but Orton drags him back to the middle of the ring for one more chinlock. Rey fights out and gets an Irish whip, but Orton hooks the top rope and Rey gets nothing but air on an attempted dropkick. Orton goes to the second rope looking for an elbow, but Rey gets his feet up to meet Orton right in the face. Randy drops to the middle rope, but Rey can't attempt the 619. Rey gets some kicks and an Irish whip finally leads to the wheelbarrow bulldog, but it only gets a 2 count for Mysterio. Rey springboards in with the seated senton and then gets a dropkick to the back of Orton's head, but he only gets a near fall. Orton gets a thumb to the eye to take back control. Irish whip and Rey springboards into a moonsault. Orton catches him, but Rey reverses it into an inverted DDT (think AJ Styles) for a close near fall. Mysterio charges and gets tossed to the apron. He knocks Orton down and goes up top, but Orton catches Rey coming down with a dropkick. Orton goes for the pin, but Mysterio gets his foot on the bottom rope.

Orton stalks Rey for the RKO, but Randy gets impatient and goes after Rey, who turns around and gets a standing enzuguiri on Orton. Randy gets a kick to the gut and goes for the gutwrench neckbreaker, but Rey slips out. He comes running off the ropes and gets nailed by an Orton clothesline for 2. Irish whip out of the corner, and Mysterio ducks a charge, causing Orton to go shoulder first into the ring post. Rey gets the 619 from that position, then another one from the normal position and Drops the Dime on the back of Orton's neck for his first successful championship defense.

Your winner is Rey Mysterio in 21 minutes and 35 seconds.

Still to come tonight, the Undertaker will go one-on-one with Mark Henry in a WrestleMania rematch.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Palmer Cannon is here to tell us that the views and opinions expressed in the next piece do not necessarily reflect the views of himself or the network. This is a segue to another Miz vignette, and he's somewhere doing pilates, and some other crap. HOO-RAH!

Moments ago, Rey Mysterio defeated Randy Orton to make his first successful defense of the World Heavyweight Championship. Now he is backstage with Kristal Marshall. She congratulates him on winning and defending the title. She says that he proved everybody wrong by winning both matches. Mysterio wants to thank everybody who believed in him from day one. He says that he is living proof that dreams do come true. He proved tonight that he is ready to take on all comers, and he brings his son, daughter and wife on screen to thank them.

William Regal is backstage, and he runs into Paul Burchill. He says "hello Sinbad" Aahahahahah! Anyway, he offers Burchill a beautiful new suit, and he'll forget that they ever broke up as a tag team. Burchill reminds him that he wears what he does because it is his family heritage, and he's having a lot of fun. Hell, he gets to carry around a sword and swing from a rope. He says that since the change he is undefeated while Regal hasn't won a match. Burchill makes a deal with Regal. If Regal beats him, he will wear anything Regal wants him to, but if Burchill wins, Regal has to wear anything Burchill wants. He tells Regal that he believes Regal will make for quite the lovely buxom wench.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Big Time by Peter Gabriel was the official WrestleMania theme song.

William Regal vs. Paul Burchill
Loser must wear whatever the winner wants

Lockup quick and they fight over it in the corner. Regal gets a forearm and Burchill gets an armdrag, and they trade punches, bur Burchill gets the better of Regal and pounds him. Whip off the ropes and Burchill gets 2 off a back body drop. Regal gets a kick to the gut and a pair of European uppercuts, and they exange them, and Burchill once again gets the better of it, getting another 2 count. Regal catches Burchill in a half nelson and gets that suplex. He follows with a pair of knees to the head and slams Burchill to the mat. Regal slides out of the ring and gets a forearm to the head, then kicks Burchill's head into the ring post. Inside, Regal gets a 2 count and 3 one counts. Chinlock and Regal rakes the eyes, then drops the knee on Burchill's head. Burchill comes back with a backdrop suplex and charges at Regal in the corner, but he meets a boot. Burchill dodges an attempted knee lift and catches Regal very quickly for the C4 and gets the pinfall.

Your winner is Paul Burchill in 3 minutes and 12 seconds.

Coming up next, it is the main event, The Undertaker versus Mark Henry.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

WrestleMania 23 will be at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan on April 1, 2007.

Backstage, Theodore R Long meets with the wrestlers to announce that starting next week on SmackDown, the King of the Ring tournament will come back. The first opening round match will be Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton.

Mark Henry is here for the main event, but first he has something to say. He doesn't think that the Undertaker or the people understand that after WrestleMania, Mark will never be the same. He's wide, he's big, and he should not be confined in small places, but when he sealed Henry in the airtight coffin, Henry passed out, and almost passed on. They opened the coffin, however, and he saw the bright light that he thought was heaven, and he got a breath of air in his lungs, and that is when he had an epiphany. He had a vision, and he saw the Undertaker's future. On this night, it is the Undertaker who will never, ever be the same.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Next week, the King of the Ring returns, and the first opening round match will be Randy Orton versus Kurt Angle. The full brackets will be available on WWE.com this weekend.

Mark Henry vs. The Undertaker
WrestleMania Rematch

Henry tries to attack 'Taker from behind, but Undertaker saw it coming. He punches Henry and whips him into the corner, but Henry catches him with an elbow. Clothesline by Henry takes the Undertaker down, and he punches 'Taker in the ropes. Henry chokes Undertaker in the corner, then whips him to the opposite one, but Undertaker gets a boot up to block the charge. A couple of uppercut throat thrusts rock Henry, and Taker gets the Old School ropewalk, but cannot knock Henry down. Undertaker goes for his Complete Shot move, but Henry pushes him down to counter. That gets 2. Henry gets a headbutt and a punch in the corner. Irish whip and Undertaker ducks a clothesline and comes off the ropes with a diving clothesline. Outside the ring, Undertaker bounces Henry's head off the ring steps and then gets an elbow to Henry's throat and follows it up with the apron walk legdrop.

The camera cuts to a giant man walking down the entrance way with Daivari and he gets into the ring and stares down the Undertaker. 'Taker steps into the ring with him, and he stands taller than 'Taker. Undertaker gets a pair of right hands that do nothing to the man, but he chops the Undertaker on the head and knocks him down. 'Taker sits up, but the man grabs him by the throat, rips the top turnbuckle pad off and slams 'Taker's face into it. He pounds the Undertaker down and dominates the Dead Man and stands over him victorious. Replays air, and the show ends with a replay of him standing tall over the Undertaker.

This match has been decided a No Contest in approximately 4 minutes.
