CM Punk finally makes the makes the biggest decision of his life and I don't believe it!
Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.
Lain checks in with some thoughts: So why the hell didn't they let the 8 Man tag at WM be an extreme match? It would have gone down so much better with that rather quiet crowd at Ford Field than the vanilla match they did put on.
And Punk needs to either go for the title or get moved to Smackdown or Raw....he's wasted on that show at the moment.
No disagreements there, but I think Punk might not be wasted anymore if they make this deal with the New Breed work. Now, let's get right to the action!
No opening video tonight, but we do open with Vince McMahon and his old school mobster hat covering his head. Joey Styles and Tazz at ringside and then are mentioning that Lashley was responsible for McMahon's baldness. Vince has the mic and calls April 1st the greatest humiliation of his life when he was shaved bald. And the fans cheer as he states that they loved it. McMahon says he would regain his dignity and extract revenge, but he can't do it against Stone Cold or Donald Trump, leaving just Bobby Lashley. McMahon announces that Lashley will not be there tonight, as he was given the night off. Well… he banned him from the building. But it doesn't matter, as Lashley has a severe concussion and we see the video that shows what happened with the whole Shane McMahon vs. Bobby Lashley hair vs. title "match" last night. McMahon talks about how Lashley will have the worst night of his life at Backlash when he loses the ECW Title to Umaga, Shane McMahon, or himself. McMahon thinks about the sound of himself as the new champion. McMahon then confirms that he will make Lashley's life a living hell, but he will also find a way to make everyone's life a living hell as well. He then leaves with a smirk on his face as Tazz thinks about the possibility of McMahon being the ECW Champion after the three on one handicap match.
Backstage, we see CM Punk warming out and RVD comes over to see how it is feeling and that CM Punk represented the whole ECW originals. Burke then comes over and says that CM Punk will give him an answer next week. But Punk shuts them both up and says he will give an answer tonight! He walks off as Burke and RVD smile at each other as we fade to a break.
Tommy Dreamer vs. Kevin Thorn
We are back and Tommy Dreamer comes out limping to the ring, due to the crazy match last week. Thorn comes out holding the back of his neck, as he is also banged up due to the way he went through the table from RVD and Sabu. The bell rings and Thorn goes down with a kick to the gut. Dreamer fights back with right hands, but get whipped into the corner and hits with a shoulder block. Dreamer dumps Thorn to the outside and Ariel comes over yelling at Thorn. Dreamer with a baseball slide on Thorn. Dreamer backs Thorn against the steel steps and punches away, but Thorn breaks and shoves Dreamer into the ringpost, causing Dreamer to crash to the outside mat. Thorn brings Dreamer back into the ring and locks in a submission. Dreamer backed into the corner, Thorn charges, but Dreamer gets the boot up. Out of the corner and Dreamer gets drilled with a sit-down spinebuster into a powerbomb for a two count. Dreamer ducks a clothesline and connects with a spinning neckbreaker. Thorn now gets whipped into the corner and gets the boot up as Dreamer charges. Thorn out of the corner and Dreamer gets his own sit-down spinebuster powerbomb for a two count. Dreamer heads up top, but Ariel distracts the ref and Dreamer, allowing Thorn to crotch Dreamer and hit the Dark Kiss for the pinfall at 3:15.
Winner: Kevin Thorn
Backstage, Extreme Expose is warming up for their next appearance as Snitsky shows up behind them, scaring all of them. He just stares at them as one by one they back away in fear. Later tonight, RVD takes on Cor Von.
We are back and we get a video trailer for Stone Cold's movie "The Condemned". Afterwards, we look back to seeing Hardcore Holly getting his arm mangled by Snitsky, a chair, and some steel steps.
CM Punk vs. Steven Richards
After the Holly update, Stevie Richards is waiting in the ring. Once again, CM Punk is his opponent. But before the bell can ring, Matt Striker comes out to ringside to take a closer look at CM Punk… and following him out is the Sandman. Punk looks a little annoyed at both men as we head to a commercial break.
We came back with the match in progress, so no official time for this one. CM Punk connects with a double underhook backbreaker for a two count. CM Punk into the corner, but Richards misses the charge. Punk heads up top for a body block, but Richards ducks. Richards goes after the ribs and hits a gutbuster for a two count. Stevie hits a backdrop suplex for a two count. Punk reverses out of a bearhug and knees Richards in the gut. Punk starts connecting with punches and backfists, followed by a roundhouse kick. Richards is in the corner and Punk connects with the knee lifts followed by a bulldog for a two count. Striker and Sandman start having words. Striker pie faces Sandman. Punk runs to the ropes, but Sandman accidentally hits Punk in the back with the cane as Striker ducked under the shot. CM Punk turns to see what the hell is going on and Richards rolls up Punk, grabbing the tights. Punk some how rolls through after a two count and gets a three count of his own for the win.
Winner: CM Punk
After the match, Sandman comes in the ring and tries to explain what happened as we go to another break.
We are back and Extreme Expose is in the ring doing their thing, shaking all their body parts, including ones that I didn't know existed. As soon as they finish, Snitsky comes out and the ladies bails, but Layla gets stuck and scared stiff. Snitsky turns and Balls Mahoney drills Snitsky in the head with a steel chair, but with no effect. Balls then gets his head almost taken off with a boot to the face and he is out. Tazz is completely stunned based on how Balls has dropped people with shots exactly like that in the past.
We go to a clip from what happened between Burke, RVD, and CM Punk earlier tonight. Rob van Damn then comes out to the ring as we do have another match to get to before CM Punk makes his decision. Sabu comes out with him wearing a neck brace and we head to another break before the main event.
Rob Van Damn vs. Marcus Cor Von
We come back and get a clip of why Sabu has the neck brace on, aka the Express. Cor Von comes down to the ring with Elijah Burke as this music is starting to get kicking. The bell rings and after some jaw jacking the men circle the ring and lockup with Cor Von backing RVD into the corner with a pretty clean break. They keep it slow and lockup again. Cor Von with an irish whip and RVD rolls under a clothesline. He pops up and they stare down again. Cor Von gets a boot to the gut and backs RVD into the corner. Cor Von with an irish whip, but RVD gets the float over. RVD goes for a monkey flip, but Cor Von catches him for a powerbomb, but RVD counters into a head scissors. Cor Von gets the advantage with some stiff shots. Bodyslam on RVD and Cor Von locks in a neck vice. RVD battles to his feet and they reverse irish whips, which leads to a neckbreaker by Cor Von for a two count. RVD gets a few shots to the gut, but a haymaker gives Cor Von the advantage. Irish Whip by Cor Von, but RVD gets the feet up and gets a two count with a body scissors. Cor Von to his feet and he drills RVD with a huge belly to belly suplex for a two count. Another neck vice by Cor Von locked in, but RVD gets to his feet again. Elbows by RVD breaks the hold and he goes off the ropes. RVD flips over the back and misses and enziguri. Cor Von drills RVD with a german suplex and gets a two count. Cor Von hits a snap suplex and locks in another chin lock. RVD again battles to his feet, though it takes some time for once. Cor Von goes to the turnbuckle, but RVD blocks it a head smash. Cor Von then blocks a kick and throws RVD to the middle of the ring. Cor Von locks in another rear naked choke hold as RVD battles up again. He escapes and both men trade some right hands, but RVD gets the advantage this time. Spinning heel kick takes down Cor Von. RVD hits a springboard savate kick. RVD looked to go for Rolling Thunder, but Cor Von was up. Double leg takedown by RVD and a spinning legdrop gets a two count. RVD heads up top and hits a flying savate kick this time. Burke runs around the ring and drills Sabu in the back of the head. RVD notices and chases around Burke. Burke heads into the ring, RVD follows, and Cor Von connects with the POOOUNNNCCCEE!!! That came out of nowhere! Cor Von rolls RVD towards the middle of the ring and gets the three count at 9:05.
Winner: Marcus Cor Von
CM Punk's music hits and he runs out to ringside. Punk enters the ring stands faces to face with Burke and Cor Von, looking ready to fight. He then smiles and extends his hand to Burke. Punk has joined the New Breed!!! You have got the be fucking kidding me! Cor Von and Thorn lift Punk on their shoulders in celebration and Burke is on his knees thanking god. We fade out with Punk's arms up high!
