411's WWE Raw Report 06.05.07
Posted by Daniel Wilcox on 06.04.2007

Welcome to the Raw Report! As you know, due to work Arnold Furious can no longer do the live report so that's now my task. Anyway, let's get straight to it!

Cue WWE opening video. Cue Raw intro. Monday Night Raw starts here!

As always Jim Ross and Jerry The King Lawler are our hosts from Tampa, Florida!

Promo – WWE Champion John Cena

Cena gets a huge ovation coming out. He soaks up the atmosphere. JR points out that at One Night Stand last night Cena got the first ever pinfall victory over The Great Khali. A few boos before Cena starts talking. Cena says the fans are what he loves about this business. He says this is intensity, everything you could ever want. Tonight it seems just a little bit louder. He says after six weeks of getting his ass beat, Khali has been told "FU." His life has been a living hell, he thinks he's in the clear but then they spring the draft on him. He brings up how he was drafted from SmackDown to Raw. If he gets drafted to SmackDown or ECW, tonight is the last night he stands in the ring for Monday night Raw. If this is how it ends, let it be said… the champ is…

Vince McMahon makes his way onto the stage clutching his ribs. He walks to the ring san his usual swagger. McMahon lost the ECW title last night and went through hell. Cena looks amused as Vince tentatively gets into the ring. "You suck!" – Tampa. Vince knows why Cena is here; to embarrass him. He says Cena wants to humiliate Vince and remind them he is no longer a world champion. "Asshole!" – Tampa. Vince says he won't let him do that. He's not going to break. His name is Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Cena turns his back on McMahon. Big "Cena" chants.

Cena says he is going to tell himself that Vince doesn't know what he's doing and he is upset after losing the title. Maybe he is a little bit delusional. Vince repeats his name and Cena responds by telling Vince the only thing keeping McMahon alive is Cena's patience. Cena says Vince has lost his mind. Vince calls Cena a liar. He hasn't lost a damn thing. Vince still thinks he has his dignity. The only thing he's lost is his world title. Which is exactly what Cena is going to do tonight. Vince gets up in Cena's face. Cena will defend the title tonight in a triple threat match. Cena vs. Umaga vs. The Great Khali. Cena shakes his head as they stare each other down. Vince is smiling now. He puts the mic down and leaves the ring. JR says this is frightening. Cena must defeat two monsters tonight to retain.

Commercial break.

Cryme Tyme is here with Candice who is acting all G.

Mixed 6 Person Tag Team Match – Cryme Tyme and Candice Michelle vs. Johnny Nitro, Kenny Dykstra and Women's Champion Melina

The chicks have to be pulled apart by their respective partners. JTG and Dykstra start. Nitro tagged in early and hits a slingshot elbow. Shots to the face by Nitro. Amazing handstand kick by Nitro. Kenny in and takes down JTG for a 2 count. Stomps by Kenny. Slingshot into the forearm, JTG falls over Kenny's knees and Nitro comes over the top with an elbow. Shad breaks up the count. Neckbreaker gets 2 for Nitro. Nitro grabs a modified cobra clutch which JTG tries to elbow out of but he eats a boot. Neckbreaker countered and Shad gets the tag. Clotheslines to Nitro, back drop for Kenny. Snake eyes to Nitro and a big right hand gets 2 before Dykstra breaks it up. Melina in but Candice takes her out. Shad slams Candice onto Melina and Cryme Tyme hits the G9 on Nitro for the 3!

Winners: Cryme Tyme and Candice Michelle

Far too short to be any good but the team of Nitro and Dykstra continues to look promising. *

Backstage – Maria admires Santino Marella's title belt. Vince is here. That's a championship belt. He used to have one of those. He tells Maria to shut up to which Santino takes exception. Vince says Marella will defend the title right now.

Commercial break.

We're back as JR thanks us for joining them for One Night Stand. They thank Puddle of Mudd for the theme song "Famous." The Tampa Bay Bucs are here.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Santino Marella (c) vs. Chris Masters

Marella gets no reaction. Masters' isn't much better. Kicks to the quads by Marella, right hands. Dropkick misses and Masters goes on the attack and chokes the champion on the ropes. Cover for 1 by Masters. Marella comes back with knees but Masters rakes the eyes and delivers snake eyes to Santino. Leg drop from the challenger gets another 1 count. Neck vice applied now by Masters as the crowd starts to get behind the champion. Masters gets some harsh torque on that vice. Marella fights out and gets a jaw breaker. Blocks a right and fires off on Masters. Boot to the gut and a back heel trip gets 2 for Marella. Masters hangs Santino up on the top rope. Masters sets up for the Masterlock but Marella avoids it and gets a pinning combination for the 3 count!

Winner: Santino Marella

It's the same thing we've seen many times before from these two only Marella seems to be getting a tiny bit better week by week. *½

Commercial break.

Backstage, Cade and Murdoch congratulate The Hardys on their win last night, and also want to know when they get their title match. Matt says they deserve a shot. Crazy Vince is here acting crazy. He sees the tag titles and tells Matt to shut up. They'll defend the titles tonight against Cade and Murdoch. Vince walks and sees Torrie Wilson and Ric Flair. Torrie is creeped out. Vince can't stand degenerates hanging out with a woman less than half their age. Torrie and Flair mock the chairman. Tonight, Flair will battle Carlito… oh no he won't… Torrie will face Carlito. Flair belittles Vince so Vince threatens to beat his ass. All Vince ever hears is "Woooo!" That makes Flair a legend. Ric Flair – "Thank you." Flair, being a legend, will take on the Legend Killer Randy Orton!

Commercial break.

Randy Orton vs. Ric Flair

Apparently the match just made is happening right now. Rob Van Dam and Shawn Michaels are both out indefinitely because of Orton. Flair and Orton go nose to nose and Orton slaps Flair who lights Orton up with chops and right hands in the corner. More chops taking Orton down. Flair stomps on the face of the Legend Killer. More chops. Snap mare by Flair and a stomp. Body shots by Flair followed by… more chops. Orton gets a powerslam catching Flair off the ropes and sets up for an early RKO as we head to a commercial…

Commercial break.

We're back as Flair locks in the Figure 4 Leglock! Orton fights but Flair applies the pressure. Finally Orton gets to the ropes. During the break Flair avoided the RKO and regained control. Orton hangs Flair up on the top rope and nails his backbreaker across the back. Orton stomps on all the appendages of the Nature Boy. Big knee drop by Orton. He covers for 2 then fires off with right hands from the mount position. Orton applies a chinlock, believe it or not. Fans behind Flair as he gets to his knees. To his feet and Flair gets some separation and some chops. Huge dropkick by Orton and a cover gets a very close 2 count. Eye poke by Orton and gets great elevation on a back drop to Flair. Cover gets 2 and Orton goes back to the chinlock. Flair battles up and side suplexes his way out of the deadly hold. Figure 4… countered to an inside cradle for 2 and hard head shots now by Orton. More shots right to the head. Chops by Flair now but Orton continues to hammer away. Thumb to the eye by Flair. A chop gets a near fall for Flair. Orton reverses a whip and clotheslines Flair in the corner. He pulls Flair up but the Nature Boy battles back with chops and Orton bails. Flair follows and Orton U turns and nails a clothesline. Orton suplexes Flair on the floor. Back in now, Orton sets up for the RKO again but instead punts Flair in the head. Flair pulls himself up… and eats a devastating RKO for the academic 3 count!

Winner: Randy Orton

Orton stands over a fallen Flair. The referee prevents a further attack from the Legend Killer.

Despite Flairs standard offence, this was really a good match. Flair looked good and Orton continues to be pushed. I'm really liking Orton's new edge. **½

Commercial break.

Carlito vs. Torrie Wilson

Obviously Ric Flair won't be helping out Miss Wilson due to the last match. Torrie's leg is heavily taped apparently due to an injury she suffered during the Intergender tag match last week. Carlito seems to be saying he doesn't want this match. He says he will lie down. "Trust me." The bell rings and they continue talking. Torrie tries to leave the ring but he grabs her around the waist and hits the Backstabber for 3.

Winner: Carlito

Angle advancement. Although where it's advancing too I have no idea. N/R.

Backstage, the Hardys walk and are up next!

Commercial break.

Wade Boggs is front row ringside.

World Tag Team Championship Match: The Hardys (c) vs. Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch

Matt and Jeff are still selling the effects of last night's fantastic ladder match, to their credit. Matt's ribs are taped up. Cade and Matt lock up, clean break. They work through some chain wrestling and Matt gets a hammerlock. They work through some basic holds until Cade gets some separation with an elbow. Matt gets a small package and then a backslide, both for 2. Cade leap frogs Matt and gets 2 off of a dropkick. Murdoch in and he goes to work on the arm. Matt gets a back drop and tags in Jeff. Elbow swanton combo gets a one count. Tag to Matt and they now double team on the arm of Murdoch. Jeff back in, Poetry in Motion hits! Jeff gets his rope assisted dropkick in the corner for 2. Cade in gets slammed. Hardys clean house and Jeff planchas to the floor and takes out Murdoch. Jeff hurt his knee on that so Matt comes in as we go to a break…

Commercial break.

Back live and Matt has a side headlock on Murdoch and replays show Jeff really hurt his knee on that plancha. That was ugly. Matt gets slammed off the second rope and Murdoch gets a 2 count from it. Slam by Murdoch. Cade in now and he attacks the injured ribs of Hardy. Murdoch back in and he continues the assault, burying knees into the ribs and he gets a 2 count. Cade in but he gets telegraphed – spinebuster by Cade gets 2! More near falls for Lance Cade and he tags out to Murdoch. Hard shot by Murdoch and he places some heavy stomp all over Matt. Reverse bear hug applied by Murdoch as the fans rally behind the champions. Hardy fights out and gets the hot tag to Jeff. Atomic drop, double leg drop, jawbreaker to Cade. Double leg drop to the groin of Cade. To the top now, but Murdoch crotches him on the top. Matt in, Side Effect to Cade as Jeff goes to the top. Swanton Bomb misses and Cade covers for 3! Jeff got his foot on the rope but Murdoch knocked it off and we have new champions!

Winners: And NEW World Tag Team Champions, Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch

Matt questions the new champs, so they blast the Hardys with the tag title belts. Big heel heat on that as the champs leave.

Love it. This angle has been awesome and the match was good. I love the way Cade and Murdoch turned on the Hardys. Obviously the Hardys will get their rematch but it'll be interesting to see how long Cade and Murdoch are allowed to hold on to the straps. **¾

Backstage, Coach tries to talk to Vince. Vince rambles on. "It" gets caught in his throat. A black cloud is rolling in and he can't get rid of it. Next week, he's going to feel better. It's the draft. Also next week is… he sends Coach to go tell ‘em now. Right.

Commercial break.

Coach is here. Next week is 3 hours long and starts at 8 central. It's the draft. In addition to that, next week will be Mr McMahon Appreciation night.

WWE Championship Triple Threat Match: John Cena (c) vs. The Great Khali vs. Umaga.

Khali makes his way to the ring with the interpreter as we go to our final break…

Commercial break.

Back and Umaga makes his way to the ring. JR thinks this won't be every man for himself while King accidentally blasts India and Samoa so JR has to quickly jump to their defence. The champ is here!

Cena runs into a clothesline from Khali and now Khali beats Cena in the corner. Umaga has gone to get something. Big boot by Khali. Cena to the floor and Khali follows and sends Cena into the steel steps. Umaga now has the steps and launches them at Cena but the champ ducks and Khali gets nailed. Khali almost catches the steps. Umaga charges into a boot in the ring but Cena runs into a stiff clothesline from Umaga. Cena tries a sunset flip, it fails but Cena avoids an ass splash. Cena gets Umaga up for a slam but Umaga falls back on Cena for 2. Umaga sits on the chest of Cena, knocking the wind out of the champion. And again, but Cena gets his knees up. Cena tries a top rope crossbody but gets caught and Umaga hits an urange. Khali in now and he stares down Umaga. Big right by Khali. They exchange blows and Umaga runs into that heel kick of Khali. It sends him out of the ring and Cena hangs Khali up on the rope. He gets Khali up for the FU but he gets elbowed in the head. Headbutt by Khali knocking the champ down. Cena gets tossed around the ring by Khali. Khali gets a leg drop but Cena's foot is on the rope for the cover. Khali knocks Umaga off the apron and hits Cena with another right hand. Umaga in and charges Khali. Khali is tied up in the ropes. Face heat for Umaga. Cena avoids an ass ram as Khali tries to chokebomb Umaga. Samoan Spike but Khali doesn't go down. Cena shoulder tackles Umaga to the floor. FU TO KHALI! IT'S OVER! Cena retains.

Winner: And STILL WWE Champion, John Cena

Good match. It was like the best bits of the two separate singles matches with Umaga and Khali, with the added fun of Khali and Umaga interacting. Cena looked super human again while Umaga was kept strong so all is good. **½

Overall, a hit and miss show. Three good matches but a hell of a lot of unnecessary filler. The crazy McMahon angle is over the top but I'm interested to see where it leads, hopefully not a feud with John Cena.
