411's ECW on Sci-Fi Report 6.12.07
Posted by Michael Bauer on 06.12.2007
A night dedicated to the memory of Vincent Kennedy McMahon.
Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.
We open with Joey Styles and Tazz at ringside with video of the flag at WWE Headquarters at half mast, for the presumed death of Vince McMahon. We then go back to the whole segment of Vince McMahon going to the ring, saying two words on the microphone, and leaving. We don't miss a moment and we don't skip a second. We see him go into the back with every WWE personnel member lined up on both sides. We see him go the wrong way to his limo and turn back towards it. We see him leave the arena and ponder what those two guys are doing outside. We see him enter his limo, for the last time. It's really eerie watching this for a second time, third if you count the video on WWE.com that I watched earlier.
We head back to ringside and Styles says we will see more footage later on tonight and that all the matches on ECW tonight will be dedicated to the memory of Vince McMahon. Vince gets a ten bell salute as Styles is shocked by the inappropriate reaction by the audience. Tazz calls it disrespectful. We head to a commercial.
Extreme Rules: Tommy Dreamer vs. Balls Mahoney
Good to see Tommy back in Philly. Same for Balls. Wow, two originals in an Extreme Rules match. The bells rings and they lock up with the two men getting technical. Balls gets taken down with a drop toe hold but Balls gets the advantage and goes for his punches. Dreamer blocks the last one and gets some jabs of his own. Balls gets dumped to the outside and Dreamer follows. He goes under the ring and get the kitchen sink!! Dreamer misses the first time, but hits the second time. Balls throws Dreamer into the steel steps and goes under the ring for a ton of weapons. Dreamer back in the ring and Balls kills him with a trash can lid three times. Balls goes for the cover and gets a two count. Dreamer dodges another shot from Balls and drops the trash can on Balls' head three times. Dreamer goes back under the ring for a steel chair. Dreamer sets the chair and tries for a suplex, but Balls blocks it and whips Dreamer. Dreamer gets dropped with a toe hold face first into the open chair. Balls goes up top, but gets dropped on his balls. Dreamer sets up the tree of woe and Dreamer smacks him with the trash can, set the trash can by his face and goes low with the dropkick to the trash can and Balls' face. Dreamer goes back under the ring and here comes to the table! Dreamer sets the table, which is busted, and Tommy turns into a trash can shot from Balls. Dreamer's head laid on the table, and Balls misses the legdrop. Dreamer lines up Balls Mahoney and DDT's him on the steel chair for the win at 6:10.
Winner: Tommy Dreamer
Still to come Benoit and Punk take on Burke and Cor Von. And up next, we get the ECW debut of the Boogeyman.
The Boogeyman vs. Matt Striker
Matt Striker starts out in the ring when we come back from the break, that's not a good sign now is it? Boogeyman comes out and Striker looks scared to death. I missed this entrance for so long while he was on Smackdown. The bell rings and Boogeyman quickly gets the advantage. Boogeyman hits a shot to the gut and keeps the advantage with an arm wrench. Striker begs for Boogeyman to get off of him when he is backed into the ropes. Striker catches Boogeyman with a kick to the gut and clubs down on the big man. But the Boogeyman starts to shimmy and no sells. Boogeyman hits clothesline after clothesline and leaps down with a splash. Striker into the corner and Boogeyman with a splash. Boogeyman hits Striker with a two handed chokebomb for the three count at 2:24. After the bell, Boogeyman brings out the worms and feeds them down Striker's throat before leaving.
Winner: The Boogeyman
We go back to Joey Styles and Tazz after the break as we get to see footage of what happened after the limo exploded and after Raw went off the air. We the fire trucks showing up and putting out the fire as more pieces start to explode. Styles mention that it took 10 and a half minutes to take out the fire as the flames went 30 feet high into the night time sky. Up next is the main event.
CM Punk and Chris Benoit vs. Elijah Burke and Marcus Cor Von
Benoit comes out first and gets pretty nice ovation for an ECW crowd. To think he best rival could be his partner tonight. Styles wonders if he can thank Punk for winning last night, since it brought Boogeyman to ECW. Burke comes out by himself as does Cor Von, so we can hear that awesome music. Cor Von refuses to enter until Benoit backed up. The bell rings and Punk starts with Cor Von and locks in a headlock. Punk with the takedown on Cor Von and gets a quick pin attempt. Punk and Cor Von exchange hammerlocks and Cor Von get the headlock. Cor Von whips punk and knocks him down with a shoulder block. Arm drag by Punk and they stare down. Lock up, no, Cor Von goes to the gut and tags in Burke. Burke hits a shot to the gut and a knee to the face for a two count. Hammerlock by Burke and Punk reverses. Punk with some shoulders to the shoulder and he tags in Benoit. They exchange punches and Benoit connects with a clothesline. Snap suplex connects by Benoit. Burke catches Benoit with a gut shot and tags in Cor Von. Cor Von whips Benoit and ducks, but Benoit goes after the arm. The Alpha Male backs Benoit into the corner and shoulder blocks him repeatedly. Benoit once again catches Cor Von ducking and tags in Punk. Punk enters with a springboard clothesline. Cor Von whipped into the corner and Punk connects with a high knee. He goes for the bulldog, but Cor Von slips out and heads outside. Burke tries to sneak up on Punk, but Benoit catches him and takes him down, forcing Burke to retreat as well as we head to a television break at 5:30.
We are back at 8:49 with Burke in control of Punk, connecting with an elbow to the back of the head. Burke runs off the ropes and drops and elbow to the gut. Punk sent into the corner and Cor Von tagged in, who quickly lands body shots to Punk. Punk into the corner and Cor Von gets a clothesline before tagging in Burke. Burke lands some crossfaces to Punk's jaw and gets a two count. Cor Von tagged in again and he has the irish whip reversed. Punk runs up and goes for the ten punches, but Cor Von drops him to the mat and slingshots him into the corner. Punk cradles Cor Von for a two count and tries for a tag, but Cor Von stops him. Burke and Benoit enter the ring and the ref throws out the match for no reason at 12:14. The four men battle under Cor Von gets dumped to the outside. Benoit hits Burke with the trifecta of suplexes, follows it up with the flying headbutt, and locks in the sharpshooter. Burke taps but it doesn't matter. They announce Punk and Benoit the winners as the ref goes over to Tazz and tells him that Cor Von ignored the five count for leaving the ring or something and they were DQed for it. Ok then.
Winners: CM Punk and Chris Benoit
After the match, we get one more look at Vince McMahon going to his limo for one last time. Remember to send any feedback you may have.
