411’s WWE Heat Report 07.01.07
Posted by Scott Slimmer on 07.01.2007
We’ve got John Cena, John Cena, John Cena, and, um, John Cena on a special, all-Cena edition of Heat.
Hey guys and gals, I'm Scott, and this is 411's WWE Heat Report.
You're probably aware that unlike Raw and Smackdown!, Heat is now available exclusively on WWE.com. The video-on-demand nature of Heat allows me to screen each episode for you while still allowing you to watch all or part of the show after reading my report. I want this column to be a resource to help you decide which segments are worth watching and which segments are worth skipping. However, I also want to cover each segment in detail for those of you who do not have the time, the desire, or the ability to watch Heat yourself. I'm going to try and meet both of these goals by separating this column into a preview and a review. The preview will include the title of each segment, the tag line for each segment, the running time for each segment, and the non-spoiler bottom line on whether or not the segment is worth watching. The review will include a detailed description of all of the action in each segment. Okay kids, enough with the boring stuff. Let's get to the wrestling.
The Preview
Segment 1:The Champ Arrives Tag Line: John Cena became The Champ at WrestleMania 21 when he defeated JBL for the WWE Championship. Bottom Line: It's a WrestleMania title match on Heat. Watch it.
Segment 2:Rated-R Rumble Tag Line: The 2006 Royal Rumble saw Cena become a two-time WWE Champion when he took the gold from Edge. Bottom Line: It's a Royal Rumble title match on Heat. Watch it.
Segment 3:Chi-Town Showdown Tag Line: It was The Champ vs. The Game when Cena met Triple H in the main event of WrestleMania 22 in Chicago. Bottom Line: It's a WrestleMania title match on Heat. Watch it.
Segment 4:One Champ, Two Monsters Tag Line: Cena was against the odds on the June 4 Raw, facing Umaga and The Great Khali in a Triple Threat Match. Bottom Line: This is probably the weakest match of the episode, but this one is worth watching if for nothing else than Umaga's priceless reaction to confronting The Great Khali. Watch it.
The Review
Segment 1: The Champ Arrives (Footage of John Cena vs. JBL for the WWE Championship from WrestleMania 21)
We start off with the new WWE: The Power is Back video followed by the Heat opening video. Josh Mathews then welcomes us from the Heat Studio. Wait, Josh Mathews? There's no way this ends well…
Josh Mathews: "What's up everyone? Welcome to a brand new edition of Heat. I'm your host, Josh Mathews, and we are fresh off the heels of an unforgettable, unbelievable Vengeance: The Night of Champions, where for the first time ever, every single WWE title was on the line. Candice Michelle is the brand new Women's Champion, and Johnny Nitro is the brand new ECW World Champion. Edge, MVP, Chavo Guerrero, Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, and Deuce & Domino were all able to retain their titles, as was the current and reigning WWE Champion, John Cena. Cena won a brutal Champions Challenge match-up defeating Mick Foley, Randy Orton, King Booker, and Bobby Lashley. Now as you all know, John Cena hasn't always been the champion, and becoming one wasn't easy. John Cena got his opportunity on the grandest stage of all in 2005 at WrestleMania."
We move on to Footage of John Cena vs. JBL for the WWE Championship from WrestleMania 21.
We finish up with a commercial for The Most Powerful Families in Wrestling 2-disc DVD set, available now.

Triple H (voice over): "At WrestleMania, the King of Kings goes back on his throne!"
We then join Josh Mathews back in the Heat Studio.
Josh Mathews: "Welcome back to Heat. Triple H, the King of Kings, a massive powerhouse who will do whatever it takes to take the WWE Championship away from John Cena. And Triple H earned the opportunity to face the Champion with the title on the line at WrestleMania 22."
We move on to footage of John Cena vs. Triple H for the WWE Championship from WrestleMania 22.
We finish up with a commercial for WWE: Red, White, and Bruised, only on WWE 24/7 Online, available in July.

We start off with a video package featuring highlights of John Cena vs. The Great Khali in a Falls Count Anywhere Match for the WWE Championship from One Night Stand 2006.
We then join Josh Mathews back in the Heat Studio.
Josh Mathews: "Welcome back to Heat. John Cena has survived insurmountable odds. We all just saw John Cena defeat The Great Khali at One Night Stand, doing something that no other Superstar has ever done before, and that was pin The Great Khali. So John Cena defeated one monster, but could he defeat two at the same time, as the Champion took on both The Great Khali and ‘The Samoan Bulldozer' Umaga."
We move on to footage of John Cena vs. Umaga vs. The Great Khali in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship from the 06.04.07 episode of Raw.

J.D. Dunn covered this match in his 06.04.07 RAWtopsy.
Arnold Furious covered this match in his 06.04.07 Raw is Furious.
We then join Josh Mathews back in the Heat Studio.
Josh Mathews: "Welcome back to Heat. At Vengeance: The Night of Champions, four former World Champions, King Booker, Bobby Lashley, Mick Foley, and Randy Orton all welcomed the challenge of trying to strip John Cena of the WWE Championship. Let's take you back to Vengeance: The Night of Champions."
We move a video package featuring still screen shots of John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Bobby Lashley vs. King Booker vs. Mick Foley for the WWE Championship from Vengeance: The Night of Champions 2007.
We then join Josh Mathews back in the heat Studio one final time.
Josh Mathews: "A resilient champion with immense power and determination to do whatever it takes to succeed. John Cena has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt why he is the WWE Champion. And that's going to do it for this week's edition of Heat. I'm Josh Mathews."
Match Result: John Cena defeats The Great Khali with the FU. Match Length: 4:06 (shown) Best Spot:: Umaga standing toe-to-toe with The Great Khali… although it would have been hella funnier if he'd have just given Khali a Samoan Spike to the nuts
Okay kids, that's it for this edition of Heat. Hope you had fun. Feel free to email me with any comments or suggestions. I'll see you back here next weekend.
