411’s WWE Smackdown Report 01.18.08

Undertaker comes out to kick off the show. He gets on the mic and says he usually doesn’t have much to say. Tonight though, he wants to warn the other twenty nine men he will take on in the Royal Rumble: If you stand before him, you will fall before him. They will all REST…..IN…..PEACE! That brings out Matt Striker and Big Daddy V. Stirker tells Taker that there is a big difference between the rumble Taker won, and this year’s. Big Daddy V was not in last year’s Rumble. Striker asks Taker how he is going to move Big Daddy V. I think Taker moved Khali over the ropes last year Mathew. Just sayin’. Big Daddy V waddles down the ramp and both Taker and Daddy brawl. Taker fights him off as Striker and Daddy flee.

We get footage of the soap opera between Vicky, Edge, Chavo, and Rey last week.

Tonight, Rey Mysterio and ECW Champion CM Punk will take on Chavo Guerrero and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge!

Match #1: Finlay w/ Hornswoggle vs. Great Khali w/ Runjin Singh

Finlay and Hornswoggle push around Singh and chase him around as we go to commercial.

-Commercial-

We’re back with Finlay slugging Khali but he nails Finlay with a clothesline. Khali kicks away on Finlay in the corner and then nails a clubbing blow to the head of Finlay. Finlay gets tosses out of the ring and Khali chases after him. He goes for the Khali Chop but nails the turnbuckle. He still gets a good chop on Finlay though. Both men get in the ring and Khali boots him. Khali scoop slams Finlay. Khali locks in a vice grip on the shoulder of Finlay. Finlay gets to his feet but Khali tosses him down. Finlay comes back fighting and Hornswoggle distracts the ref so Finlay can deliver the low blow! Singh tosses Finlay’s shillelagh so Hornswoggle attacks him with another shillelagh. They both attack Singh in the ring until Khali nails the Khali Bomb on Finlay. Khali locks in the Khali Vice Grip and gets the win.

Winner: Great Khali via ref decision
Points: Great Khali wins via submission (from Ref): 2 Points

In the back, Edge is comforting Vicky Guerrero. She tells Edge he is her hero and says he would make a great father. Teddy Long interrupts and says that he is standing right there, so Vicky makes him go get them food. Chavo Guerrero interrupts and says he was wrong. He tells Edge he is a really good guy and he wants to be one big happy family. They all embrace.

We get a replay of Jeff Hardy performing the crazy ass Swanton off the stage to Jeff Hardy.

Match #2: Deuce & Domino w/ Cherry vs. Jimmy Yang and Shannon Moore

Deuce and Yang start it off. Deuce shoves Yang in the corner and then knocks him down with a shoulder block. Yang fights back with a double leg take down and tags in Moore. He nails a senton on Deuce followed by a dropkick. Tag to Yang and he nails a low drop kick. Tag to Domino but Yang rolls him up for two. Tag to Moore and he gets the sunset flip for two. Moore tosses Domino over the ropes. Cherry distracts Moore and Domino jumps him. Two count for Domino. Tag to Deuce and he nails a dropping fist for two. Deuce nails a heel kick and tags Domino who drops a flying forearm. Moore fights back but Domino nails a running elbow and tags Deuce. Deuce kicks away on Moore and then gets a two count. Tag to Domino and he misses the splash. Tag to Yang and ne nails the top rope cross body. He dropkicks both Deuce & Domino. High heel kick to Domino and then a missle dropkick for two. Deuce broke up the count and Gets nailed with a top rope head scissors by Moore. Yang goes for the Moonsault gets distracted, but attempts it again and pins Domino for the win!

Winners: Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore via pin fall on Domino by Jimmy Wang Yang
Points: Jimmy Yang for pinning: 2 Points
Shannon Wins: 1 Point

In the back, Vince McMahon yells at Finlay for having Khali put his hands on Finlay. McMahon sets up Great Khali vs. Finlay in a Belfest Brawl next week on Smackdown!

Match #3: Batista vs. Mark Henry

They lock up and Henry shoves Batista down. They lock up and Batista gets Henry in the corner for some shoulder thrusts. Kick to the head by Batista. They brawl outside the ring. Henry nails a huge shot on Batista and throws him into the ring steps. Henry drives Batista into the ring pose and both men get in the ring. Henry goes to the SECOND ROPE!!!! He misses the splash though and Batista pounds away. Spear by Batista for a two count. Second spear by Batista. He goes for the Batista Bomb but Henry hits a back body drop. Henry misses the splash and Batista nails the Spinebuster for the win.

Winner: Batista via pin fall
Points: Batista wins via pin fall: 2 Points

We get footage of Edge screwing CM Punk in a match with Chavo Guerrero this week on ECW setting up tonight’s main event.

We come back for the VIP Lounge with MVP. He gets on the mic and brags up the show and hypes up his guest, the man he will retire at the Royal Rumble, Ric Flair. Flair thanks MVP for the introduction, but says there is not anyone on this planet that does not know who Ric Flair is. He says he was tearing up VIP lounges before MVP was born. MVP says to Flair that it does not matter, because he is going to beat him. Flair says he doesn’t have what it take to beat him. MVP brings up his win against Flair at Vengeance and says he will win again. Flair says there is no denying the loss at Vengeance, and he feels his loss to MVP was just a blemish he was going to correct. MVP says the Royal Rumble will be the greatest day of his life, and the last of Flair’s career. Flair likes MVP, the lounge, everything. Flair says he reminds him of a younger Flair but MVP says no, he is better than Ric Flair. Flair challenges him to a fight right there but MVP says no, they will wait until the Royal Rumble. At the Royal Rumble, the greatest of all time, will not be better than MVP. Flair chops MVP over his couch into part of his setting for the lounge.

We get footage of Jamie Noble beating Chuck Palumbo last week and Chuck freaking out on Michelle McCool.

Match #4: ECW’s Layla vs. Michelle McCool

They lock up and McCool nails a headlock takedown followed by another. Layla reverses into her own headlock but McCool knocks her down. Dropkick to the jaw my McCool. Layla fights back with some kicks to the leg and then a chop block. She kicks away on the leg and then drops an elbow. She continues to work on the leg. McCool finally gets away from her and nails a kick to the back of Layla. McCool chops away at Layla and then nails a clothesline. Tiger Driver Face Buster by McCool for the win.

Winner: Michelle McCool via pin fall
Points: Michelle McCool wins via pin fall: 2 Points

In the back, Jamie Noble congratulates Michelle McCool on her win. He tries to talk to her but a guy with flowers comes and says they are for her. Chuck Palumbo comes in and says they are from him. He apologizes to her about last week. He cares about her more than anything. Noble yells at Chuck and says roses won’t fix what happened last week. She yells at them to get along and they agree.

Match #4: Chavo Guerrero and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. ECW Champion CM Punk and Rey Mysterio

Punk and Chavo kick it off and Punk works on the arm. Chavo fights back with a headlock and then a shoulder block. Heel kick by Punk and tag to Rey and they nails a double Senton Spinebuster thingy! Chavo fights back and tags Edge. Rey tosses Edge and nails a headscissors. Rey gets Edge on the ropes but he ducks the 619 so Punk nails a big kick to the head. Chavo runs at Rey but gets tossed over the ropes. Punk and Rey nail stereo rope dives out of the ring on Chavo and Edge as we go to commercial.

Back in the ring, CM Punk gets tagged in and works on Edge with the kicks. He chops away at Edge in the corner. Chavo tries to sneak in but Punk nails a flying clothesline. Edge takes advantage and jumps Punk. He kicks away on him and tags Chavo. Chavo nails the uppercut and then works on the arm. Tag to Edge and Punk fights back with chops but Edge whips him into the turnbuckle. Tag to Chavo and he nails an ax handle from the top rope. Chavo works on the shoulder and nails a backbreaker for two. Punk fights back with a huge kick to the head. Tag to Edge and he takes out Rey but Punk nails the running knee. Edge shoves Punk afterward but misses the spear. Punk tags in Rey after Edge tags Chavo and Rey goes to town on Chavo with quickness. He takes out Edge and gets a two count on Chavo. Headscissors to Chavo and then 619. Edge then takes out Rey with a steel chair. After the match, Edge, Chavo, and the Edgeheads beat down on Rey and Punk.

Winners: CM Punk and Rey Mysterio by DQ
