411's ECW on Sci-Fi Report 3.25.08

A twenty four man tag team match... yeah, you can guess can't you?
Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper. And before I get started, just a note. I don't care if a certain Wrestlemania commercial was not new, I had yet to see it before last week's ECW. There is nothing wrong with that people, so get over yourselves.
Joey Styles and Tazz are at ringside as we start with the biggest tag match ever.
12 on 12 Tag match – All the members of the ECW Battle Royal
I honestly could care less about naming the teams; it's just not fair to attempt it. Thank what ever you worship this is not elimination rules. Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes come out, followed by Kofi Kingston. Kane is the last man to enter for his team, whatever that is. Cody starts with Brian Kendrick and both men get quick rollups on each other. Cody with a headscissors and Kendrick slips out into some more near falls from both men. Cody takes in Jaime Noble. He drops a leg on Kendrick, but Kendrick slips out of a suplex attempt and Palumbo is tagged in. Palumbo with a huge suplex and Yang takes in. Palumbo drills Yang with an overhead belly to belly. Yang catches Palumbo walking in and hits a punch. Yang with a headscissors takedown and Palumbo rolls to the floor. Yang over the top with a splash. Kendrick runs in and hits a dive. Shannon Moore follows up with one of his own. Trevor Murdoch goes up top and hits a huge crossbody on the pile. Now Noble hits a dive on the group as we head to commercial.
We are back and Tommy Dreamer dropkicks Snitsky. Miz breaks up a pinfall and now all twenty four men and brawling. I should just give up trying. Deuce and Domino take down Dreamer, but Kofi takes them both men with a springboard clothesline. Burke nearly takes Kofi's head off. Alabama Slam on Burke by Holly! Festus is in the ring with The Miz and he drills him. Khali in and he chops Festus. Khali gets put to his back by Kane. Kane chokeslams Striker. Snitsky boots Kane. Dreamer dodges a charge by Snitsky, but walks into a boot and gets pinned.
Winners: Snitsky and his team (what they said)
All 24 men are back in the ring and just standing there as we go to a video package for Big Show vs. Floyd Mayweather.
Back from commercial and Dreamer is backside with Colin. Chavo talks down to Dreamer and Tommy says the chances of him winning on Sunday are slim. Chavo wonders why Dreamer would challenge him tonight. Dreamer gives him a bunch of reasons, but Chavo turns him down. Chavo yells at Colin and Dreamer continues to talk down to the champ, saying Colin has more heart in his pinky than Chavo does in his body. Chavo then accepts.
Money in the Bank Preview Match – Carlito vs. Shelton Benjamin
The briefcase is hanging above the ring like it will at Wrestlemania. The bell rings and the jaw jacking starts. Carlito slaps the taste out of Shelton's mouth and stomps away. Shelton backed into the corner and Carlito beats him down. Carlito tries a monkey flip, but Shelton lands on his feet. Carlito looks stunned as Shelton beats down on Carlito. Shelton backs Carlito into the ropes and whips him over. Shelton connects with a shoulder block. Carlito gains the advantage and tries to toss Shelton to the outside, but he skins the cat. Shelton back in and he clubs Shelton in the back of the head. Shelton gets back on the apron after being stomped there. Carlito catches Shelton springing in and hangs him on the top rope. Shelton gets dumped to the outside with that and Carlito drops Shelton's head on the ring apron. Carlito gets a near fall and locks in a chin lock. It gets turned into a grounded headlock, but Carlito lets go to turn it into a sleeper. Shelton gets back to his feet and elbows out. Shelton whips Carlito, but Carlito springs off the second rope with an elbow for a two count. Carlito pounding Shelton with shoulder blocks in the corner, but Shelton gets out with right hands. Carlito catches one of his own and a suplex for two. Carlito again with a chinlock, but Shelton stands up with Carlito on his shoulders… electric chair drop. Shelton crawls over and gets a two count. Carlito rolls to the ring apron and hits a springboard dropkick. Carlito gets a near fall and hammers away on Shelton. Carlito hits a neckbreaker and gets another two count. Carlito goes back to the chin lock as the crowd now gets behind Shelton. Shelton gets whipped off the ropes and decks Carlito with a kick to the base of the neck. Shelton now mounts with punches. He ducks a clothesline and hits a modified backbreaker for two. Carlito gets whipped, but Shelton ducks early and gets kicked. Carlito walks into a T-Bone (Exploder) Suplex for two count. Shelton slips out of a suplex and tries a neckbreaker, but Carlito grabs the ropes and hits a quick neckbreaker out of his own. Carlito gets a two and a half. Carlito tries the Backstabber, but Shelton avoids it and hits a turnbuckle powerbomb. Shelton tries for his inverted bulldog, now called PayDirt, but Carlito counters into a backbreaker for two and seven eighths. Carlito heads up top, but Shelton pops up and hits PayDirt off the top rope. Shelton rolls over and gets the three count in 11:04.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin
We follow the match with a video package for Wrestlemania and the main event triple threat match.
Back from break and now we learn that the 24 man Battle Royal will take place as a free view on WWE.com before Wrestlemania at 6:30 PM Eastern. They go over the Wrestlemania card and they forget about the Money in the Bank and Edge vs. the Taker. Good job….
The Hall of Fame ceremony gets hyped as the final inductee is named… Gordon Solie. It is kinda fitting that the last guy to be named is the man who called matches of all the other inductees.
Backstage, Kelly gets ready for a match as Stevie Richards comes over. They walk towards the ring for their match.
Stevie Richards and Kelly vs. Layla and Mike Knox
Layla and Mike Knox enter separately as Layla definitely wins the award for best entrance I the WWE right now, sorry Melina. Stevie and Kelly also have separate entrances, letting Kelly get her pop. The ladies start the match and the shove each other before Layla gets a hammerlock. Kelly reverses nicely, but Layla slips out and boots Kelly. Kelly bounces off the ropes and hits a crossbody. Knox hits the ring and Stevie does as well. Knox trips Kelly with the distraction. Layla stomps away on Kelly and pulls her hair. Layla with a snap scoop slam, but she misses a legdrop. Kelly boots Layla in the face and the men gets tagged in. Stevie hits a bunch of kicks to the leg. Layla charges, but Kelly gets a thesz press takedown. Mike Knox catches Stevie charging him in the corner and hits a corkscrew neckbreaker for the three count.
Winners: Layla and Mike Knox
We get another video package for Mayweather vs. The Big Show.
Non Title Match – Tommy Dreamer vs. Chavo Guerrero
All 24 men are back to surround the ring for this match. Oh joy, why do I not like this? The bell rings and the lock up goes to Chavo as he clubs away on the back of Dreamer. Dreamer fights out with jabs and he dumps Chavo to the outside. Chavo gets tossed back in and Dreamer quickly gets a two count. Chavo with drop toe hold, sending Dreamer into the turnbuckle. Chavo chokes Dreamer with his boot and locks in a chin lock. Dreamer reverses an Irish whip and hits a bulldog. Chavo gets put into the tree of woe and hits the basement dropkick. Chavo grabs the ropes to block the DDT from Dreamer. Chavo lines up Dreamer, but gets caught with a neckbreaker. Dreamer goes up top, but gets crotched. Chavo heads up top and hits the frog splash to get the three count at 3:00.
Winner: Chavo Guerrero
Chavo takes his title and poses as all the men around the ring eye him and his title. Khali enters the ring, followed by the masses and they have a brawl to end the broadcast.
I love Layla and Shelton Benjamin rules. That's all I need to say about this
show.

Watching ECW tonight, really gave me the feeling that the WWE really doesn't
care what ratings ECW makes.

CM Punk wins MITB and then cashes it in against Chavo after his title defence,
but he loses anyway. Punk then feuds with Jericho and MVP, who put their
differences aside to beat up the douche who wasted the contract on an ECW title
shot.

Chavo needs to go back to being Kerwin White.

Say what you will about anything else - Carlito vs Shelton Benjamin kicked ass.
Carlito is finally showing signs that he actually gives a crap about wrestling
again, and he's pretty damn good when he does.

Hey was it just me or was the Carlito/Shelton match one of the better matches on
any of the 3 brands in a really long time. Those 2 were awesome last night and I
hope I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Colin Delany will win the Rumble.

i cant for the life of me understand why people give so much credit to carlito
on that match..he was ok in the first few minutes, then he killed the match
with his lazy ass chinlocks, even making the crowd CHEER shelton(even though he
is a heel), begging him to put a stop to this boredom. shelton came through
nicely in the end(also, finally the carlito curse has been lifted of him,
havent seen anyone mention it), showing why he should win the MITB match, make
a face turn and go for the raw title. and carlito? he can get his lazy ass
handed to him on heat to val venis for all i care.

Waaaaitaminnit, sutt: so in a couple of minutes, Shelton proved that he should
win MITB, turn face and main event Raw, while Carlito's "lazy" for
using a resthold after wrestling 100 mph for a few minutes?
Heck, since both men were heels, I don't think it's that earth-shattering when
the crowd decides to cheer for one man... but then again, they might've been
cheering for both to pick up the pace, since both guys busted out some pretty
nice spots.
Anyway, why are so many people praising Shelton Benjamin as world title-worthy,
yet also admit that his promos are painful and only comment on his athletic
highspots? Idunno, I say just take good Carlito/Shelton match for what it is:
a good Carlito/Shelton match. Both guys have come a long way since their 2005
feuds, but I wouldn't put world championship gold around either of their wastes
yet.
