Cheerleader Melissa? I am there.

Introduction:
Here's the score. I have MAV TV, and since I have MAV TV I occasionally recap some of their wrestling programming that they show. I used to recap Deep South Wrestling, but they started running re-runs and then it ended when WWE pulled the plug. I recapped the Learning the Ropes documentary on Deep South until it went to re-runs as well. I even did some NWA Showcase, but they kept changing the time and I lost track of it. It is hard to watch a show when you go to the channel, it says it is on and then BAM it is something else. But the one show that keeps steady is the CHICK FIGHT show. So I figured, what the hell, let's give it a try! In this episode we will see Cheerleader Melissa, known to some as Riesha Saeed in TNA. ROH's Lacey, Mercedes Martinez and MsChif! Semi Final Match: Mercedes Martinez vs. Cheerleader Melissa

They circle a bit, lock up and Melissa with a takedown but they work back to the feet. To the ropes, and Martinez shoves off. They stare down, both look to be cautious and then lock back up and Melissa with a wristlock. Leg trip counter and knee bar by Martinez and then floats over into a side headlock. Melissa is able to counter into a dragon sleeper, but that is only for a moment as Martinez slips out and works the arm bar. We head to a commercial @ 2:00.

We are back from commercial @ 4:00 as Melissa counters out of an arm bar and then starts to work the shoulder of Martinez. Melissa doing some Anderson Brothers arm work now, trying to take the shoulder apart. Martinez is able to counter and gets a front face lock, into a butterfly lock and then postures up in a standing variation of the cattle mutilation. She eases up and then they get a rope break. Melissa back to the arm and shoulder attack, into a hammerlock now. Martinez snap mares out to escape and then a kick to the back. Chops by Martinez, then by Melissa. They trade forearm shots mid-ring, Melissa with an Irish whip and former forearm smash. Irish whip again and another charging forearm smash connects. A snap mare and surfboard by Melissa as she maintains control. Martinez works to her feet, , leg trips Melissa and they trade forearms again. Martinez is fired up, Irish whip and after a counter Melissa gets a clothesline that sends Martinez to the floor. Melissa follows and they brawl up the entrance ramp as we head to a commercial @ 9:00.

We are back from a commercial @ 11:00 and they are still on the floor brawling. Chops by Melissa, but Martinez whips her into the railing. Martinez stands on her chest now and they go into the seats for a bit, but then Martinez tosses Melissa back to ringside. Martinez tosses her back in and gets a vertical suplex, hangs on for a brain buster and then hangs on for a NICE release German suplex! Martinez covers for 2. To the corner and chops by Martinez, lays the boots to Melissa and then chokes her out. Off the ropes, a reversal and Melissa with a Samoan Drop (SHE'S NOT EVEN SAMOAN~!) Melissa lays the boots to the head and neck on Martinez and then walks across her back. Scoop slam by Melissa and then the Muta elbow drop gets 2. Kicks to the head by Melissa, shoots Martinez off the ropes, a reversal and a spinebuster by Martinez gets 2. To the corner, knees by Martinez followed by chops. Butterfly hold, roll into a submission by Martinez and we head to a commercial @ 16:30.

We are back from commercial @ 18:00 where we left off, Melissa rolls the hold and makes the ropes. Clubbing shots to the back by Martinez, but Melissa back with forearm shots. Off the ropes, drop toehold by Melissa and CURB STOMP~! 1…2…NO! Melissa goes for the Vertebreaker, countered and Martinez gets a brain buster! Martinez then applies a wacky lucha submission, but Melissa escapes but eats forearm shots. XPLODER by Martinez! 1…2…NO! They trade shots, Melissa with a barrage of rights and lefts, tosses Martinez to a corner and then gets a butterfly suplex that dumps Martinez on her head. Martinez holds onto the ropes, Melissa kicks her in the head and tries to pull her back into the ring. Slam by Melissa, and then into an inverted Texas Cloverleaf! Martinez rolls out and they roll into and out of guard and trade shots. MMA WOMEN~! They trade forearms shots from the knees, and we head to another commercial @ 23:30.

We're back from commercial @ 25:10, right were we left off and they make it to their feet. Martinez unloads with rights, chops to Melissa and both are tired. Off the ropes, Martinez misses a boot, Vertebreaker try by Melissa countered again and Martinez gets a FISHERWOMAN'S BUSTER and that is all!

Winner: Mercedes Martinez @ 26:00 via pin
This was a very strong 19:00 match here. The good thing about the commercials is that when they came back, we were right where they left off.

Semi Final Match: Lacey vs. MsChif

Lots of stalling by Lacey to begin because she's afraid of MsChif. The crowd gets on her and she yells, "SHUT UP…SHE'S SCARY!" Lacey finally locks up, works the arm, reversal by MsChif and then a headlock takedown. Lacey works to escape, and does into a head scissors. MsChif bridges out into a headstand, screams at Lacey and then back into the headlock. Lacey elbows out, she drops into a split and MsChif tries a camel clutch, but Lacey escapes. Charges her and Lacey gets a stun gun and then works a hammerlock on the mat. She extends the arm, drops the knee and then rolls for a cover of 1. Leg drop and leg scissors to the arm by Lacey. Back to their feet, wristlock by lacey, cartwheel out by MsChif but Lacey chops her back down. Back to the leg drop and leg scissors on the arm by Lacey, and we'll head to a commercial @ 5:45.

We are back from commercial @ 7:50 and we are right where we left off. Lacey goes for a cover and gets 2. Rights by MsChif, off the ropes now and a drop toehold into some kind of wacky lucha submission~! That looked really cool. MsChif breaks, goes for an Irish whip, countered and MsChif hit the steel post. Lacey to the floor and whips the arm of MsChif off of the post. Back into the ring and Lacey goes for a cover and gets 2. Lacey works the shoulder, and then slams MsChif down with an arm drag and covers for 2. Chops by Lacey, but MsChif back with rights. MsChif then gets a camel clutch in the ropes on Lacey. HUMBLED~! Off the ropes, Lacey holds on and then gets a single arm DDT and a cover for 2. Lacey gets a hammerlock side slam and covers for 2. Sit out Full nelson bomb by Lacey into a seated abdominal stretch, nice transition. Lacey off the ropes, sit out powerbomb by MsChif gets 2. Standing moonsault by MsChif gets another 2! Lacey fights back, TKO on MsChif! 1…2…NO! Forearms by MsChif, and then gets a DDT with the arm wrapped up by one of the legs (looked cool as hell) and that is all.

This was pretty good. Lacey gets a really bad wrap for being a poor worker, but she worked a smart match here. The major problem was that it was disjointed, like they worked 3 or 4 segments of a match that were very obvious. But it wasn't bad.

The finals now will be MsChif vs. Mercedes Martinez. Hopefully that episode is next up.

The 411: The first thing I have to say is that you should not expect good production if you go to watch this. It is rough to say the least. The single commentator isn't bad, although he isn't helpful when it comes to the ladies trademark moves.

The show is all wrestling, no fluff and if anything else they do add in some video packages on the women and highlights of other tournament matches, which is good. I enjoy the fact that this is presented seriously and that the tournament is important. The small audience is obvious. They are running a decent sized building, but they don't appear to have more that 100 or so fans in attendance.

As for this show the opening match was really good. Cheerleader Melissa is always a pleasure to watch and I have enjoyed most of what I have seen from Mercedes Martinez. A very good opener. The second match isn't bad, they got time, but just didn't jell that well. I do have high hopes for Martinez vs. MsChif, if that is the next episode that they run.
