411's ECW on Sci-Fi Report 4.29.08
Posted by Michael Bauer on 04.29.2008

Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.

Mike Adamle welcomes us to ECW with some very dry humor as Tazz cuts him off to announce our main event as Kane faces Chavo and Bam. Oh joy.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Kofi Kingston

Tazz tells us Shelton felt embarrassed last week after Kofi beat him out of nowhere, so we get a rematch. Shelton has a mic and says how he got lucky last week and that it will run out. The bell rings and Shelton gets a quick roll up for two. He clubs away at Kofi and hits a huge body slam. He follows with two more slams and gets another two count. Shelton connects with a huge backbreaker and goes for the a backbreaker submission. Kofi fights out and connects with some elbows, but Shelton blocks a kick and slams him to the mat for two. Shelton starts pounding Kofi and hits a modified backbreaker for two. Shelton with knees to the face and he puts Kofi on the turnbuckle. Shelton pounds away and heads up as well, but Kofi fights back and shoves Shelton off. Shelton tries to leap up, but is shoved off just a quick, so Kofi dives with a huge flying body press. Shelton rolls through and gets a two count. Shelton hits an electric chair drop for two. Shelton whips Kofi into the corner and hits a huge clothesline. He whips Kofi to the other side, but Kofi slips away and hits the Trouble in Paradise kick out of nowhere to get the three count again on Shelton at 3:42.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

Mike Knox vs. Tommy Dreamer (with Colin Delaney)

Adamle tries to put over Knox as anti-social… you think? The bell rings and Dreamer quickly goes on the attack and punches Knox into the corner. Knox reverses an Irish whip, Dreamer blocks a hip toss, but still gets dropped on his ass after a clothesline. Knox locks Dreamer in a chinlock and gets to his feet, but Knox uses his power to bring Dreamer down. Delaney gets too close to the action, so Knox throws him into the steel steps. Dreamer uses the distraction to hit a baseball slide. Dreamer checks on Delaney and Knox attacks from behind. Knox throws Dreamer into the ring post and chucks him in the ring. Knox lines up Dreamer and hits the corkscrew neckbreaker and gets the three count at 2:35.

Winner: Mike Knox

We are back and it is the return of Matt Striker's Classroom. He says Spring Break over and the crowd needs to be taught. He brings us a history lesson full of big words that nobody understands. He says Smackdown will now have to deal with the ramblings of the newest Smackdown commentator, Mick Foley! Foley gets the biggest pop so far as he comes out and he is glad to back. Striker has a lesson for Foley and we start with Foley's accomplishments in and out of the ring. Striker actually says Foley did a good job with his books, but he has a face more suited for radio. Striker tries going poetic and I lost track. Foley cuts him off and he says he likes the way he looks, he likes the scars and the missing ear, and he liked sacrificing for the fans. Those principles Striker knows nothing about, since he has never entertained anyone. Striker says Foley's appearance doesn't fit the part and Foley goes for the cheap pop. Striker wonders in Mick knows the difference between the Northern State Parkway and a Northern Light Suplex? Mick and I have been on the NSP, not at the same time, but trust me, we know the difference. Likewise, does he know a Boston Crab and Boston Crème Pie? Mick takes out Mr. Socko and tricks Striker into turning his head… leading to a mandible socko claw. God how I missed that.

CM Punk vs. Chuck Palumbo

Adamle says the MITB Briefcase like the American Express Card… oh please stop now. Palumbo walks right up to Punk and pie faces him before the bell. The bell rings and Punk gets backed into the corner. Back to the middle and Punk gets a go behind, but he gets backed into the corner again. Punk slips out again. Palumbo goes for some clubs to the back and a body slam, but misses an elbow drop. Punk going to work with the kicks. Punk gets whipped into the corner, but gets the boot up. Chuck caught it though and clotheslined him to the mat. Punk gets beat down in the corner and hits a back suplex for a two count. Palumbo with a grounded rear chinlock and temporarily breaks to drive knees to the back of Punk. Punk to his feet, but backed into the corner and he gets drilled with shoulders. Punk slips out and hits some punches. Ref backs him up and Palumbo hits a huge right hand. Punk backed into the corner again and Palumbo goes back with punches. The ref tries to gets a clean break but gets nowhere so he DQs Chuck. Punk is named the winner and the two men start fighting again. Punk gets thrown to the ground and Palumbo takes his head off with a clothesline before walking off.

Winner: CM Punk by DQ

We go to a RAW Rebound with King Regal and his actions from last week, including that bullshit ending of the main event.

Next week, Colin gets to face Estrada for his contract. Ok… Plus Tommy Dreamer faces Mike Knox in an Extreme Rules Match.

Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neeley vs. Kane

Bam has to fight and yet he is here in a suit. Mike puts down his headset and leaves and it looks like Tazz does the same a few moments afterwards. The bell rings and Kane starts by knocking Chavo's head off with a punch and backs him into the corner. Chavo tries to fight back, but he gets gorilla press slammed. Kane runs into an elbow and Chavo tries for a Tornado DDT, but Kane just throws him off. Chavo rolls to the outside as we go to a commercial at 1:12.

We are back at 4:29 and Kane is again in control of Chavo. Chavo hits a low dropkick to the knee and tags in Bam. The two big men trade blows. Kane gets whipped off the ropes, but Chavo kicks him in the back, allowing Bam to gain the advantage with a kick to the gut. Chavo tagged back in and Kane body drops him to the floor. Chavo rolled back in, but he blocks Kane's path and takes a knee to the head. Bam pulls Kane off the ring apron and he lands weird on his leg. Bam tagged in and he goes to work on the leg with stiff kicks. Chavo tagged in and he tags Kane to a corner to twist the leg. Chavo mounts with punches, but Kane grabs him by the throat. He walks out of the corner, but collapses. Kane sits up and Chavo freaks out. Chavo charges bit gets back dropped as you can tell Kane is hurt or selling it great. Kane hits a clothesline and Bam breaks the count. Bam walks into an uppercut and gets clotheslined in the corner. Kane hits the side slam and connects with the top rope clothesline. Chavo brought in the hard way by Kane. Kane goes for a chokeslam, but Bam kicks the leg and drops Kane down with a kick to the head in perfect position for the Frog Splash to end the match at 9:42.

Winners: Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neeley

Next week, it's the 100th episode!

Adamle and Tazz leaving probably has to do with them making negative remarks
about William Regal from Monday. Although, it's a different show so I don't
understand how he has any influence.

taz and Mike taken off during the main event. Another Steven Regal power
move????Fn stupid.
Piss of the fans which are already pissed. Smart!!!

Oh shit, WWE just acknowledged how the fans hate Adamle and his
"lackluster" performance.

They're shooting on us! They're shooting on us!

The've been hammering home the idea that Regal is the "King of *all* the
WWE." So, I guess he can (kayfabe) interfere with all three shows, even
if he isn't physically in the building in real life.

I know we're living in the "everything sucks" era, but I'm willing to
give Adamle a chance. It will be interesting to see where they go with this
over the next month-plus.

Tommy Dreamer vs Mike Knox Extreme Rules.
I'd be sold if it wasn't Mike Knox. but a good hardcore match for Tommy would
be great for the IWC.

I'm annnoyed that Kofi Only got a 4 minute match. Couldn't these two go for a
full 10 minutes just to prove Kofi has endurance. Batista claims that he forgot
how to work because he was doing so many short matches. It can't be good for
Kofi Long Term.

"Batista said he forgot how to work"
Wait when did he learn how to work?
Haha. Too Easy.

Now if only Mike Tenay and Don West took a cue from Tazz and Adamle.

I don't understand why they made CM Punk look like Palumbo's wipping boy.

I mean he is the MitB winner, was one match away from winning KotR, beat
Jericho and Matt Hardy, and came very close to beating Edge.
But he couldn't finish off Palumbo?

It made Punk look weak. Bad booking.
If they want them to feud, they could have just had Palumbo get DQed like he
did and then pull them apart after they started fighting again instead of
knocking out Punk with a clothesline from a jobber.

HAHA. WWE.com is acknowledging that adamale is shit... on the main page...
amazing

The commentary during the main event was the best its been since ECW started. I
was honestly hoping Regal fired Tazz and Adamle on the spot and replaced them
with Grisham and Matthews.

Adamale and Tazz walked off during the main event? What the Hell?! Was there any
explanation as to why, or did they just mysteriously walk off? I mean, unless
they gave some kind of explanation, I can't see how it had anything to do with
Regal at all. He has no jurisdiction over ECW. He is the Raw GM. Being King of
the Ring has never given you any kind of political power in WWE. It would be
kind of stupid if they expected us to believe it does now.

I deleted it as soon as I saw Chuck Palumbo get DQ'd for punching CM Punk in the
corner and then laying him out.

Is this the best way they can use CM Punk the Money in the Bank winner? Is he
really going to feud with Chuck Palumbo? Also did they really have to protect
Palumbo by making it a DQ finish? Awful, as soon as that happened I said well
this is terrible and I deleted it right there.

I must say that I loved watching that last match with no announcers. It took me
a minute to realize they were gone. Then, I realized (remembered) that I heard
Taz asking where he was going and seeing in the corner of the screen Mike
walking off.

Guess it shows how much I tune out the announcers.

But I loved watching that last match with no announcers. Thought it was much
more enjoyable.

Last night verified it for me that Vince knows exactly what he is doing, and I
give him kudos.

He knows that we in the IWC will mark over anything involving Regal, so having
him utilize total power over all three shows is a good way to do that. Have
Regal become the ultimate prick and get rid of all tag team/mid-card titles,
but we won't care, because Regal's involved.

They are now playing the Mike Adamle sucks routine up to the hills, so he and
Taz walk out on a broadcast which actually improved the show in my opinion.

He knows we won't care about CM Punk's poor booking or Kennedy looking like a
tool on his return. Why? Because Regal's involved, and that's all that matters
for us in the IWC.

Im not watching ECW til Shelton Benji stops getting burried

maybe Admale was sick from having Mr Socko in his mouth.

Posted By: JMASCORPIO (Guest)  on April 30, 2008 at 12:27 PM

People are way to negative, I myself think Mike Adamle is decent, and, while
he's not exactly the best announcer, he does have strides of greatness. Then
again, maybe I'm too positive.

I think theyre making a fued with Shelton and Kofi which both men need. Neither
of them have had a fued since getting to ECW

Punk ALWAYS get booked to look bad. Sure he had a long run as ECW Champ, but on
the rare occassions he did win, he won by DQ or count-out. Morrison and Chavo
hold tons of clean wins over him. Two high profile losses before MitB and then
a few more after MitB.

I wonder what CM's WWE carreer would look like by now if the Survivor Series 06
crowd hadn't have pissed off HHH and HBK by chanting "CM Punk! CM
Punk!" instead of chanting for DX.

I really hope Asshole #1's quad detaches permenantly and Asshole #2 loses his
smile for good.

Just because the people who pay your wages would rather see an athletic
20-something in the ring instead of a couple broken down 40 year olds is no
reason to punish the kid...
