411’s CHICK FIGHT TV Report 4.30.08
Posted by Larry Csonka on 04.30.2008
We’re back with opening round matches from the CHICK FIGHT V Tournament!
Introduction:
I am back again for another edition of CHICK FIGHT TV! Unfortunately we are not getting the finals of the 4th tournament, what we are getting are the quarterfinals of the 5th tournament. These episodes do tend to jump around a bit, but at least they are on when the directory says they will be on. As for some of the questions asked last time:
** Cheerleader Melissa currently works for TNA as Riesha Saeed.
** Lacey currently works for ROH and SHIMMER as…Lacey.
** MsChif won the SHIMMER Title at their April 26th show. She is also the defending CHICK FIGHT IV Champion.
** Mercedes Martinez is NOT Salinas/Shelley Martinez. Martinez works a lot of North East Indy's (PWU and such) and has worked for SHIMMER, and recently made her return to SHIMMER at their April 26th show.
Thanks for the finisher help from the comment section. I am also glad that people seem to like the addition of these recaps. The main goal is to keep expanding the wrestling zone coverage, and this fits that mold. Sit back, relax and I hope that you enjoy today's show!
Matches from the CHICK FIGHT V Tournament

Quarterfinal Match: Cheerleader Melissa vs. Tanny Mouse
Melissa has been in all five CHICK FIGHT tournaments. They circle a bit to begin, test of strength now and Melissa gets the advantage. Melissa tosses Mouse down, and lays the boots into her. She'll choke her out in the corner, they trade shots and Mouse works head butts. Forearm smash by Melissa gets 1. Melissa with clubbing blows to the back, but Mouse with an Irish whip and more head butts and we head to a commercial @ 1:40.
We're back from a commercial @ 3:50, and Melissa gets a Samoan Drop (SHE ISN'T EVEN SAMOAN) for 2. Melissa works the inverted cloverleaf now, Mouse works towards the ropes and Melissa breaks. Melissa looks for the Kudo driver, countered and Mouse jacks her in the thighs and gets a cover for 2. JYD head butt by Mouse and a cover for 2. Xploder blocked by Melissa, gets a hard Irish whip and a corner forearm smash follows. CURB STOMP by Melissa and a cover for 2 as Mouse gets a foot on the ropes. Kicks to the head by Melissa, Kudo driver attempt again, Mouse escapes and leaps on her back and gets a motorcycle stretch into a roll up for 2. Mouse heads up to the 2nd rope, misses the head butt and a 3rd Kudo Driver try connects. That's all.
Winner: Cheerleader Melissa @ 7:30 via pin This was a pretty good opening bout. They had some nice back and forth, but it felt like they stayed in low gear.

Quarterfinal Match: Yoshiko Tamura vs. Allison Danger
Both ladies are making their CHIK FIGHT debuts. They play the crowd a bit and we head to a commercial @ 0:35.
We are back from a commercial @ 2:45 where we left off. Dropkicks by Tamura, three of them and a slam and then cover for 2 get us started off. Irish whip and a corner knee by Tamura, kicks to the face and then chokes out Danger. Abdominal stretch now applied by Tamura, Danger works the thigh shots to escape but Tamura transitions to a side headlock and takedown. Tamura keeps the headlock, transitions to a front facelock and then delivers kicks to the head. Off the ropes, reversal and a neck breaker by Danger. A knee lift follows and Danger covers for 2. Forearm strikes by Danger, rolling into a knee bar and then into a bridging STF. Tamura works to get the ropes, Danger releases the hold and picks her up. Off the ropes, reversal and a boot and cutter by Tamura. Danger rolls to the floor, Tamura follows and slams Danger to the steel railing. Tamura slams her off of the apron and then bends her around the steel post! We head to a commercial @ 7:40.
We are back from a commercial @ 9:15 as they are still on the floor, basically where we left them. We'll head back into the ring and Tamura lays the boots to Danger. This angers Danger, she fires up and they start to trade forearms. Off the ropes and a clothesline by Danger. A back elbow, boot to the gut and then a neck breaker onto the knee and a cover for 2. Chops by Danger, off the ropes and Tamura reverses it into a DDT. Tamura tries a face wash, blocked and Danger now with the face wash. Off the ropes now, drop tow hold by Danger and then the charging kick to the back of the head and a cover for 2. A forearm blocked by Tamura, northern lights suplex lands for Tamura and gets a bridge for 2. Clothesline blocked by Danger into an STO and cover for 2. Clubbing shots to the back by Danger, gets a cradle suplex, rolls and gets another one and the bridge for 2! This crowd sucks. Danger with a boot to the head, slaps to Tamura now and then misses a shining wizard try and Tamura lands forearms and then a uranage connects and that is all!
Winner: Yoshiko Tamura @ 14:15 via pin This got more time than the opener and it made a difference as they started to kick things up with some good near falls. We're off to a good start thus far.
Rating: **½
Quarterfinal Match: Jazz vs. Simply Luscious
Jazz is labeled and the early favorite for this tournament. Jazz works the crowd and they react to her well. Lock up and they work for position, around the ropes and no one gets an advantage as they break. A lock up again, side headlock by Luscious and off the ropes and Luscious gets caught in the ropes and Jazz lays in the boots as we head to commercial @ 1:50.
We're back from commercial @ 4:15 as they lock back up, side headlock by Jazz and Luscious tries to grab her hair. Off the roes and a shoulder block by Jazz. Another one levels her and Luscious falls all over herself. Apparently she has a wacky gimmick where she is, wacky. Wristlock by Jazz, an arm drag follows and then another. Big dropkick by Jazz follows and Luscious falls to the floor. Luscious jogs around the ring and wines about her arm, and she is back in the ring. She wants a test of strength and Jazz then starts a "Luscious sucks" chant. Luscious whines about the arm some more, and then poses. Jazz replies and shows off the guns. A test of strength now, they lock up and Jazz controls and gets Luscious to a knee. Head butt by Luscious to break it, but Jazz tosses her to the floor. She follows, slams Luscious off of the apron and then into the railing. Chops by Jazz, and then drops Luscious throat first on the railing. A big whip to the railing by Jazz, more chops and Luscious is about to cry. Back into the ring we go and Jazz covers for 2. A butterfly suplex by Jazz followed by the high leg drop, which leads us to another commercial @ 9:15.
We are back from commercial @ 11:25, a sit out powerslam by Jazz connects and she covers for 2 as she pulls up Luscious. Knees by Jazz, Luscious is hurting, off the ropes and Jazz kicks her in the face, Luscious blows a catch for a cross body and Jazz gets the X-factor and Luscious gets a foot on the ropes at 2. Forearm shots by Jazz, kicks by Luscious, misses an Enziguri and Jazz gets the STF in the middle of the ring. Luscious taps.
Winner: Jazz @ 13:20 via pin This was nothing but an extended squash. I have to say that I was not impressed with Luscious at all. Not to be rude, but I just didn't think she was any good. Jazz on the other hand, with her years of experience looked levels above anyone else on the card. The way she played the crowd, the offense that was tight and believable; everything was great from her. Having her in the tournament was a great idea. As for this match, unfortunately Jazz tried, but it just wasn't very good.

Quarterfinal Match: MsChif vs. Sumie Sakai
MsChif employs the early offense of screaming at Sumie. Sumie goes to the floor to think things over, and we get a commercial @ 0:45.
We are back from commercial @ 3:00 as Sumie doesn't want to get into the ring. MsChif chases her, back in and a dropkick by Sumie. Sumie sits on her face for a cover of 2. Sumie with a half Indian deathlock now, gets an arm and bites MsChif's hand! She does it out of the ref's view, and that was sneaky. Sumie releases the hold, works an arm wringer, and then wraps it around the top rope. Forearms by Sumie, chops now and then chokes MsChif out with the boot. Snap mare and a basement dropkick by Sumie gets 2. Sumie now HUMBLES MsChif with a camel clutch, using the hair as well. She counts along with the ref, what a bitch. MsChif escapes and gets a reverse bridge and cover for 2. MsChif with a kneeling back stretch now, releases, off the ropes and a knee by Sumie connects. Hair mare by Sumie, lays the boots to MsChif and then a double stomp to the gut of MsChif gets a cover for 2. Northern lights suplex with a bridge gets a 2 count for Sumie. She goes up top…MISSES the moonsault! We head to a commercial @ 7:35.
We are back from a commercial @ 9:20 as MsChif gets a roll up for 2. Backslide follows that for 2. MsChif decapitated her with a clothesline for a close 2. MsChif locks in the IRON MAIDEN (Full Nelson with the legs instead of arms) while pulling the arms back. MsChif then postures up and then rolls Sumie for a pinning combo and gets 2. Sumie blocks an Irish whip and MsChif then charges her, but takes a drop toehold. Off the ropes but MsChif gets a sit out spinebuster! Both struggle to their feet, Sumie KISSES MsChif, gets a roll up out of that for 2. Forearm shots to MsChif, off the ropes and goes for another wheel barrel roll up but gets slammed down. MsChif then ties her up in a backstretch with the legs locked and Sumie give sit up.
After the match MsChif beats her down some more, for fun.
Winner: MsChif @ 14:54 via submission This was a solid affair, 2nd best match on the show but again, it felt like we stayed in low gear.

Cheerleader Melissa, Jazz, Yoshiko Tamura and MsChif have all moved on.
The 411: The opening round of the CHICK FIGHT V Tournament is in the books and we are off to a fine start. I mentioned that they seemed to keep it in low gear, which I understand since this is a one-day tournament and there is more to come. The opening round was solid, outside of Jazz's match, which wasn't her fault. Cheerleader Melissa, Jazz, Yoshiko Tamura and MsChif have all moved on, which should hopefully make for a very good semifinal round. I will note that they've changed to two commentators for this edition, which did improve things from a quality standpoint, but they are still rather useless as far as providing good information on the performers. In the end a good episode; all action, no crap and fine wrestling.
