411's ECW on Sci-Fi Report 5.6.08
Posted by Michael Bauer on 05.06.2008
It's the 100th Episode and Colin Delaney makes it his biggest one!
Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.
We get a special opening video for the 100th episode of the ECW on Sci-Fi, complete with plenty of highlights. Then the normal opening goes on as we head to Tazz at ringside. Mike Adamle gets his own entrance to a chorus of boos, but he heads to the ring to explain why he walked off ECW last week. He says that he needs to apologize for losing his cool. He apologizes to Tazz for leaving him and to all the fans. He says he has been a broadcaster longer than a lot of us have been alive. He goes on to say that he had no idea this ob was so hard and that he has made plenty of mistakes, which the wrestlers let him know. He loves the WWE and the ECW and that he will do everything he can to be professional. Boring, but he made the point.
Extreme Rules: Tommy Dreamer vs. Mike Knox
Stevie Richards is at the announcer's table this week to watch this extreme rules match, who fought in the first ever ECW match. Knox kicks and punches on Dreamer before shoving him to the match. Dreamer fights back with punches and clotheslines him to the floor. Dreamer chokes him with his jersey and throws Knox into the steel steps. Dreamer goes for the shopping cart he brought out, but Knox with a huge clothesline. Knox with a cookie sheet and he nails Dreamer in the back. Knox with a delayed vertical suplex and gets a one count. Dreamer gets choked on the second rope and then Knox drops the leg on the back of his head. Knox has a hockey stick, but Dreamer with a baseball slide. Knox gets drilled in the back with the hockey stick. Back inside, Dreamer goes to work with the Singapore cane and breaks an oar over Knox's head. The shopping cart is now in the ring. Knox blocks a suplex and slams Dreamer on the shopping cart. Knox stomps the head of Dreamer and goes up top, but gets caught in the Tree of Woe and hit with a Singapore Cane to the face. Dreamer heads outside for the Trash Can. Knox smacked in the head and Dreamer lines it up… Low Dropkick in the shopping cart… the trash can… and Knox! Damn! Dreamer gets the table… more dangerous than a picnic table Adamle. Knox blocks a bulldog and hits a belly to back suplex through the table. Knox covers and only gets two. Knox gets a steel chair, but Dreamer rolls away and slams the chair on his back. Knox low blows out of a DDT and connects with the Knox-Out for the three count at 6:30.
Winner: Mike Knox
We go to highlights on the first episode of ECW and The Sandman facing the Zombie. AKA – Sandman hitting him with a Singapore Cane 14 times. Ah, memories.
Back from the break and Kelly's Expose is back. So we get Kelly dancing to Timbaland and a song that for some reason I've never heard before. It's the same stuff we always see out of her until Layla comes out to spoil the party. Kelly shoves her out of the way and continues until Layla repays the favor. Kelly eventually slaps Layla and we get a catfight, which the referees break up to the dismay of the fans.
The 16th episode is shown from September 2006. You remember where Hardcore Holly gashed his back after a suplex on RVD off the ring apron through a table? God was that brutal. After the break, Kofi goes up against Matt Striker.
We get the 55th episode highlights of Rowdy Roddy Piper singing for Matt Striker's birthday and the Bogeyman giving Striker the gift of worms.
We go to highlights of last week of Punk vs. Palumbo and the bullshit DQ finish. Backstage, Chuck says that if Punk gets in his face again, he is going to knock him out.
Matt Striker vs. Kofi Kingston
Shelton Benjamin comes out to do get commentary for this match, do to him losing two weeks in a row to Kofi. Adamle asks if Shelton can beat Kofi. Shelton says that is like asking if Adamle can stay for an entire broadcast. OUCH! Striker jaw jacks all the way to the bell ringing. Striker strikes first as Kofi takes his eyes off the target. Kofi gets his kick caught, ducks a clothesline, and hits a dropkick that nearly went over Striker's head. Kofi hits his patented legdrop for a two count. Striker reverses Kofi and tries to throw him out of the ring. But somehow Kofi blocked in and hits the Trouble in Paradise kick to end it in 1:22. Shelton jumps in the ring and hits the inverted bulldog on Kofi as soon as the match ends.
Winner: Kofi Kingston
Backstage, Colin walks and CM Punk leads a group of ECW and Smackdown superstars clapping and urging him on.
Break from the break and it is the 43rd episode and a Wrestlemania 23 rematch between The New Breed vs. the ECW originals under Extreme Rules. Do you remember when Elijah Burke won matches?
Colin Delaney vs. Armando Estrada
Colin gets his entrance tonight, followed by Estrada, who is actually ripped. Tazz is shocked and Adamle reminds us he was a Cuban Champion. The bell rings and Colin gets a quick roll up for two. Estrada downs Colin and slaps him around while yelling at him. Colin backed into the corner and Estrada tosses him all the way across the ring for a two count. Estrada locks in a side hammerlock and gets to his feet, but Estrada drops him back down. Colin avoids a splash and starts hammering away. Estrada holds the ropes and Colin hits a perfect dropkick. Colin charges, but Estrada pulls the rope down. Colin lands on the ring apron and Estrada grabs him. Colin slips under Estrada and rolls him up. …1 …2 …3!!!!!!! COLIN WINS!!! COLIN WINS!!! Colin does laps as Tazz leaves the booth to get an interview. Colin thanks everyone for supporting him and he thanks all those who doubted him, because that was his motivation.
Winner: Colin Delaney
It's the Smackdown Rebound and the never ending saga between Undertaker and Vickie Guerrero. We head to another break.
Back from the break and the WWE Tag Team Champions, John Morrison and The Miz are at ringside to commentate for this next match. Tazz gets a "Chick Magnet" T-Shirt.
Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neeley vs. Cm Punk and Kane
Morrison makes a good point about Chavo not being ready after Cinco de Mayo. Kane gets a huge ovation, probably louder than CM Punk. Miz and Morrison say they are scouting as the bell rings. Kane starts clubbing on Bam as Bam tries to go after the leg. Bam fights out of the corner, but runs into a clothesline. Slam by Kane and CM Punk tagged in. Punk tries chopping down Bam and hitting some shoulder blocks, but Bam just shoves him off and tags in Chavo. Punk tries a quick cradle and gets two. Punk with a snap suplex. Chavo reverses momentum and hits a European Uppercut and backs Punk into his corner. Bam gets knocked off the apron, Chavo charges, but Punk backdrops him right into Bam, who catches Chavo. We head to a break around the 2:30 mark.
Back at around 6:25 and Punk connects with a kick to the arm of Bam. Punk keep working the arm until Bam throws Punk in the corner. Bam clubs Punk and tags in Chavo. Chavo jaw jacks some, but Punk fights back with right hands. Chavo wraps around and grounds Punk, locking in a chin lock. Punk escapes with some knees, but Chavo throws Punk down to the mat. Bam tagged in and he boots Punk in the chest repeatedly and gets a two count. Punk fights back until Bam clubs Punk in the back and hits a back suplex for two. Chavo tagged back in and he springs in and kicks Punk in the chest. Punk gets dropped on his head with a suplex for a two count. Chavo baits in Kane to prevent a tag and bring Bam back in. Bam backs Punk in a corner and whips him. Punk springs to the ring apron and catches Bam with a forearm. Punk hits the springboard clothesline. Chavo and Kane tagged in. Chavo snatched and Kane backs into the corner. Kane hits a boot to the face and a huge back body drop. Chavo in the corner and Kane hits a clothesline followed by a side slam. Neeley knocked to the floor and Chavo gets dropped on the rope. Kane heads up top and hits the clothesline. Punk tagged in and he hits the high leg lariat. Punk follows Chavo into the corner and it's the high knee. Bam breaks up a pin attempt and gets drilled by Kane. Chavo walks into the Go2Sleep and Punk gets the three count at 13:07.
I need to get my DVR fixed. First it was TNA last weekend, now it was ECW
tonight. I am starting to think that the wrestling on the Big Ten Network will
start being a little bit more entertaining.

great opener, fun match for Delaney, boring main event. I marked though for
Adamle naming his first finisher the "Knox-Out" hahaha that was
awesome

Why do people even watch this tripe?
Posted By: Chungles (Guest) on May 07, 2008 at 03:47 AM
You see, NOW is the right time for Shelton to defeat Kofi. Kofi cannot possibly
be harmed by it now, and Shelton will still get a good rub because he's been
involved in Kofi's only competitive feud since he arrived and ended his
undefeated streak (result pending).
Of course, if he wins via excessive amounts of cheating, it's all for nothing.

Mike Adamle: "Tommy Dreamer is bringing out the picnic table".

Shelton's doing the same angle that Triple H did with him a few years back,
except he's playing the opposite role. Just thought that was kinda funny.
Posted By: sefdog (Guest) on May 07, 2008 at 08:14 AM
I'm glad the Mike Adamle situation appears to be just an angle, with his skills
on the mic being bad intentionally. Gotta admit, he does "bad" good.

"In case joo dinit know....my name is
Arrrrrmando....Alejandrro.....Eeeeeeestrrrrrrrrraaadaaaa! And I, haha, am one
ripped muthafucka, haha." Stevie carried commentary on the first match.
Miz and Morrison were pretty damn funny, themselves. Palumbo's interview was
wretched! "Chuck, it looks like you
got.......................................as good as you gave." Shit,
bitch, EVERYBODY knows that one! How the hell did you manage to fuck that up?
Even Chuck, who stunk it up himself, was looking at her like "Shit bitch,
say the fuckin line." Lena Yada must give good head to still have a job.
The whole thing felt forced and stupid. All Palumbo said was that he'd knock
Punk out. You took time off a match to waste for this shit? COme on!

I hated the end of Colin's promo. It was way too preachy.

Hadn't watched ECW in a while, but they've moved Boston Legal to Wednesdays.
I didn't think Adamle was too bad. Was he better this week than previous?
Alright show, despite the chick thing wasting time.
Posted By: G-Walla (Guest) on May 07, 2008 at 08:50 PM
Dear God, my eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw Estrada. That dude is
freakin' *cut*. His head looks weird on his body for some reason though, like
it doesn't quite belong. It's almost surreal. Colin winning was a nice bit
though.
The guest announcers ripping on Adamle was good for a couple of chuckles.
kofi is just spinning his wheels, really. Yes, we know he has some unique
approaches and moves, but let's move on with the bit now.
Kelly/Layla = *sigh* Do we reall, really need to do this again? Kelly has shown
time and again she's no good for much more than shucking her clothes. She can't
even dance for God's sake. The "morning strippers" do better than
this mess.
Knox and Dreamer felt like it's there simply to get Tommy some TV time so they
can keep some kind of continuity with the old ECW.
The title story line is just like the Wrestlemania match: a non-starter. So far
all that's come of this is the introduction of Bam Neely and that's not even
working out so well. I simply cannot get interested in this no matter how much
they try.
Punk has to be the most underwhelming MITB holder in it short history. They're
either working this with a "slow-burn" mentality, or have dropped the
ball completely. Edge, RVD, and Kennedy (until he dropped it to Edge) were
everywhere and always in the faces of the champs, keeping it in the back of
their minds that they were always lurking, always waiting for the right moment
to cash in. All Punk has done so far is get his logo on the case and carried
it to the ring a couple of times. They need to start working this angle or no
one is really going to care when (or if) he finally uses the title shot.
Posted By: hg dragon (Guest) on May 08, 2008 at 12:08 AM
punk has a guaranteed title shot for a YEAR!!! come on people. he isnt going to
cash it in tommorrow. punk is going to tread water for a while before it
happens. plus since he is a face. he isnt going to jump anyone. he'll probably
name the time and place like rvd.
wrestling fans have such short attention spans they expect punk to be champ 5
mintues ago. just WAIT, is that too much to ask?
Posted By: rey (Guest) on May 08, 2008 at 02:14 AM
But reading water is all he's been doing for the longest time. It seems to be
hit-or-miss whether or not the fact that he's the MITB holder gets mentioned.
The only reason it even gets remembered it seems is because he brings the
briefcase to the ring with him.
No one is saying "OMG! CASH IT IN NAO!!!11ui1ui1jmcvsd iopug03489
*frothing at the mouth* But at least make it freakin' important. It's a
guaranteed title shot! How is that not important?
But then again, since the rest of the titles outside the Big Two are pretty
much forgotten, it's to be expected, I suppose.
