Paving the road to a dangerous One Night Stand!
Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.
Mike Adamle and his pathetic commentary are at ringside with Tazz as they go over the double "main event" for the evening.
The Big Show vs. Tommy Dreamer
The Big Show is now listed as being from Smackdown… since when? We get highlights from last week's destruction caused by The Big Show. The bell rings and Dreamer tries to hit and run but runs into the corner where Big Show smacks him around and headbutts him. Dreamer clubbed in the back and kicked in the gut. Big Show steps on Dreamer and looks to just toy with him. Big Shows drops an elbow and stands on Dreamer in the corner. Big Show with a huge chop in the corner, whips him, and misses the charge. Dreamer with a low dropkick to the knee and tries a DDT, but Big Show backs him into the corner. Dreamer leaps off the second rope and right into a clothesline. Big Show measures and GOZZLE! Big Show connects with a massive chokeslam to get the win at 2:32.
Winner: The Big Show
After the match, we go back to July 4th, 2006 and Big Show's tainted Title victory over Rob Van Damn. We then head to commercial.
We come back and Shelton Benjamin is on commentary after ending Kofi's winning streak last week on ECW, which we get highlights of.
Kofi Kingston vs. Mike Knox
Kofi got some fireworks added this week after a loss last week. Interesting. Mike Knox looks like a freaking cave man more and more. The bell rings and Kofi starts to kick the gut. Knox catches one and shoves Kofi into the corner. Kofi leaps up high for the punches, Knox lifts him for a powerbomb, and Kofi slips out. Knox grounds Kofi with a hard club to the back and drops the leg on Kofi's back upon the rope. Knox keeps slugging despite Kofi fighting back. Knox with a hard suplex and he goes to the chinlock. Kofi is back to his feet, but goes back down with a club to the back. Kofi is back to the chin lock now and Kofi is back up. He escapes with elbows and hits some high forearm smashes. Kofi ducks a clothesline and hits a front dropkick. Kofi thrown into the corner and he flips over the top rope and kicks Knox right in the head, busting him open in his left eye. Kofi comes off the top rope and hits a flying body press. Kofi up now and he hits the Trouble in Paradise kick for the pinfall at 3:25. After the bell, Shelton attacks Kofi and they brawl around the ring. Kofi gets the advantage until Knox hits him from behind and drills him with the Overdrive. Shelton stalks over Kofi and walks off.
Winner: Kofi Kingston
We know go to September 4, 2007. It was the night CM Punk defeated John Morrison for the ECW Title.
Back from the break, it's January 22, 2008 and the No DQ bullshit match in which Chavo won the ECW Title from CM Punk.
CM Punk vs. Chavo Guerrero
Bam Neely comes out with Chavo, as you would expect. Tazz smacks the table with a singapore cane as the bell rings. Punk gets a quick G2S attempt and Chavo bails. The two measure each other with quick kick attempts before a lock up which sees Chavo land on his ass. Punk with kicks to the back and a high elbow. Bodyslam by Punk connects and Chavo backs into the corner. Punk hits some high knees and a snap suplex for two. Chavo charges Punk, using the ref as a distraction and goes to work with right hands. Punk ducks one and gets a backslide for two. Chavo catches Punk with a shot to the gut and gets a two count. Chavo with a grounded chinlock as we abruptly go to commercial at 2:59.
We are back at 6:08 and both men are trading right hands. Punk grabs the ropes after an irish whip. Chavo charges Punk and Punk body drops him to the floor. Punk wants to dive out, but Bam grabs the top rope and low bridges Punk. Chavo dives over the top rope and connects on Punk. Punk rolled back in and Chavo locks in a body scissors. Punk rolls around and tries a double underhook suplex, but drops him. Punk and Chavo trade blows and Punk hits a back fist followed by a back heel kick. Chavo catches Punk with an elbow in the corner, but walks into a powerslam for two. Chavo reverses an Irish Whip into a single leg Boston Crab! Punk makes it to the ropes and Chavo starts to pose. Punk catches a boot and hits a backfist following by a kick to the head for two. Chavo reverses and Irish whip and hits two suplexes, but Punk slips out and goes for the G2S, but Chavo slips out with a hurricarana. Punk sends Chavo into the corner and tries the high knee, but Chavo ducks and drives Punk down to the mat with a roll up. Chavo hooks the tights and gets the three count at 11:24.
Winner: Chavo Guerrero
We go back to Tommy Dreamer back in April of 2000 and his speech when he won the ECW Title after years of trying.
We come back and get the Raw Rebound and McMahon's "Epic Announcement".
Backstage, Lena asks Colin Delaney about Vince's announcement. Colin says it is awesome because it is about giving back to the fans. Colin says the draft would be great as well to get some new opponents. He says one change he would like to see would be Estrada being drafted.
At last, we see John Morrison winning the ECW Title at last year's Night of Champions. Which leads to…
Handicap Match: The Miz and Morrison vs. Kane
So Kane can't beat Morrison by himself… can't beat The Miz without being DQed… and he should win here why? Morrison smacks the table a few times with the kendo stick and almost hit Adamle. But why would you miss? We go to the break as The Miz comes out to the ring. We come back and here comes Kane. The bell rings as Morrison starts the match and gets Kane in his corner to tag in The Miz and let him punch away. Morrison back in now and he chokes Kane on the rope. Miz tries a cheap shot, but Kane grabs him by the throat. Morrison comes in from behind to break it up and tags in The Miz. Miz backs Kane in the corner but walks into a big boot. Miz eats two huge clotheslines in the corner. Miz sent off the ropes and Kane with a flapjack. Huge diving clothesline connects on the Miz. Kane lines Miz up… GOOZLE on Morrison. Miz breaks it up and they both beat down on Kane. Since they aren't tagging in and out, the ref DQs the Tag Champs at 3:25. Punk comes out to even the odds, followed by Morrison and Dreamer. They beat on each other and out comes The Big Show again as everyone keeps fighting. Big Show goes to work on Punk. Huge chop on Miz and Morrison. Everyone gets cleared out except for Kane. The two seven footers stare each other down as we end the broadcast.

Kane vs. Big Show - EPIC!!
Coz both are, you know, really tall...?

This edition of ECW was one of the better ones in awhile. The Chavo/Punk match was rather entertaining with some old school psychology involved. Please do something with Delaney, please!!!! With the move over to Raw coming up, I'd love to see the new ECW incorporate more developemental talent like Sydal/Cabana to compensate with the future loss of Punk/Miz/Morrison.

Kane rocks and I am so glad they finally gave him a decent run (even if it is with the least important of the big 3)! Big show annoys me - He will NEVER be Andre The Giant no matter how hard he tries! Give some other guys a shot - Big Show has been ECW champ (I miss RVD).
I do not like CM Punk, but even he would be better than Big Show. What about Shelton Benjamin? Not a huge fan, but he can certainly wrestle and has definately been a company man for WWE.
Also, a little off subject but in the article on Glen Jacobs (Kane) and the Libertarian Party, the interviwer listed Kane as 6'8" tall - little short of 7 feet wouldn't you say? Gigantic compared to the average man though. Let Kane have a long and glorius run with the title. No one deserves it more than him for all the years and crappy storylines he has endured(Katie Vick, Lita). For once WWE got it right and I hope they see it through.

CM Punk blows
His character doesn't exist and he jobs all the time.
I remember when he used to have character and was an awesome ROH champ...it's sad to see what he has become.

"Chavo ducks and drives Punk down to the mat with a roll up. Chavo hooks the tights and gets the three count at 11:24."
I see now why so many IWCers compare ECW with TNA, and it's more than just the low ratings!

Good show tonight.ECW Continuse to Improve while Raw continues to disappoint...im really worried about the RAW/ECW Thingy happening in June,i hope they dont crap all over ECW's Momentuem,ECW alot of weeks is the better show and i think Vince see's that and wants to crap on it.

By the way, WWE, could you stop rewriting fucking history already? It's bad enough we have to endure the annoying blurring of the WWF logo and bleeping from 24/7 broadcasts (but Lee Marshall's Nitro road reports and upcoming house show promos remain!) Morrison won the ECW title as Johnny Nitro. There's nothing wrong with recapping the match as it happened and then throwing in a brief mention of how he soon "transformed" into John Morrison.
You don't see the Buffalo Bills ignoring that OJ Simpson was likely the greatest Bill of all time. The Anaheim Angels don't pretend they were never the California Angels. The Memphis Grizzlies acknowledge they started in Vancouver. It's perfectly acceptable to look back on when things like a character name were different!

Thank you WWE. I had this silly notion in my head that Money in the Bank meant something. You have helped clear me of that delusion by constantly jobbing CM Punk. If he cannot take Chavo, how in the blue blazes is he going to beat HHH or the winner of the Edge/Undertaker TLC match?

Line of the night was shelton saying kofi was like the monkey man from bloodsport.
Posted By: derek (Guest) on May 27, 2008 at 11:41 PM
Good way to build a main eventer is to job him out constantly to midcard talent.Same old shit WWE.

Kudos to Derek for mentioning Shelton's reference of Bloodsport. Let's hope that some of the PC police cite that as the WWE's blantent racism and let's hope Kofi doesn't end up in a bearhug (Bloodsport reference).

bring back the hardcore title so ECW has a gimmick match worth watching every week...
ECW week in & week out is forgettable despite the amazingness of Miz & Morrisson and due to the dullness of Kane, Benjamin (sorry, tried, but he's no future star) & CMZZZzzpunk.
Not to mention Tommy 'Iron Mike' Dreamer &colin duh-dully crappin up the screen, & mike Nox?! fuck this show.
I'd rather watch lucha-haas, at least that character was fun to watch in a lucha mask mark kind of way....

Well, I think its pretty obvious who will win at ONS. John Morrison!
If Kane vs Show happens unless it is Extreme Rules it won't be any good.

"The Big Show is now listed as being from Smackdown… since when?" Since he returned

"The Big Show is now listed as being from Smackdown… since when?"
"Since he returned"
Huh. Who'd have thought. He's only been seen on every brand since his return.
They need to get rid of ECW and make it just 2 brands again. It'll make rosters bigger with more variety to match-ups. Anyone who says ECW is developmental is outta their fkn mind - FCW is developmental. People like CM Punk and Morrison are above this crap.

Kane and Show have had some decent matches in the past. I remember the King of the Ring many years back(Kane was still rockin the full bodysuit and I think Show still had long hair) and they both choked each other out in the center of the ring till they passed out. Def. has to be Extreme rules this go round if it happens.

man, i like the draft and all but one of the "B" shows will get buried again. If it's not raw, they treat it like it's nothing
Posted By: cj (Guest) on May 28, 2008 at 10:01 AM
Two 7 footers main eventing against each other. Vince's favorite.
But seriously, we've seen these two fight and team and fight again.
ZZZZZ

What, no Layla?
Posted By: Guest (Guest) on May 28, 2008 at 05:18 PM
Seriously shut the fuck up about CM Punk "jobbing" They have 8 months still to build Punk and just because you lose a match doesn't mean you are "buried"
