He gives Joe the bat and turns his back and says to take a swing. Joe says he won't need that and won't attack from behind if and when he comes for him.

Angle loves his career as well as her, while Karen says he loves himself more than her and the kids. Kurt doesn't see why this is wrong. Kurt them blows a gasket and says he will break every bone in AJ's body.

Back from commercial @ 5:55 and AJ gets the dropkick and things are even as both guys are down. Tomko tosses AJ off the ropes, counter and a clothesline by AJ. Another and JA is fired up. Clash try, Tomko fights and Roode is out on the ram, Nash attacks. Tomko slams AJ down and covers for 2. Nash still fights off Roode, Booker is out and Nash fights him off. DDT by AJ on Tomko…PELE~! The horror.

A pretty spotty show. Some really good segments and some really bad segments.
The Kong match and the AJ segment+match, were both spot on, and the bachelor party and Steiner burying Petey on the mic, sucked.
Add in the good X-division KoTM match and Knockouts tag match, and the rest of the wrestling being solid, and you have an enjoyable, but flat in spots, show.
Not as good as I was expecting for a go home show, but still solid.

Keep up the good work!!!

Is it just me, or was Daffney pretty stacked, in the good way.
Posted By: SS87 (Guest) on June 05, 2008 at 11:30 PM
good show. i lauged out loud when kip came out as the stripper. aj's mike work has improved tremendously.the x match was good, daffaney getting killed was good and finally getting to see a little bit of the old aj come back was great.

I really didnt like the idea of KotM three nights before the PPV, but this was a solid Imapct mainly inside the ring. What I didn't like was the bachelor party. Who has a bachelor party on a Wednesday? (I know its taped but when my brother asked that question I couldnt help but laugh)
Posted By: Colin (Guest) on June 05, 2008 at 11:38 PM
Sky saying " I have pimples on my backside that look better than the marks that come here" got a good chuckle out of me.

38 MINUTES~!!!!

Free KOTM match with no build and no hype = NO RATINGS! This is whats wrong with TNA, they have these great matches but they dont promote them
Posted By: natedoggcata (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 12:37 AM
Yeah where are the star ratings? Anyway, good TNA overall. Some matches could've been longer, like AJ/Tomko (by removal of the Kong nonsense) but I think they did a great job, the X-DIVISION KOTM match was a refreshing change of pace.
However, the promotion of the main event at Slammiversary has been lackluster, since we all know Joe's retaining. I will order it to see Angle and AJ, two guys who have both been referred to as the BEST going at it, that should be great, hopefully Angle's neck will be good to go.

why they are pushing kaz like hell?
james storm > tna roster
Posted By: maxilimianos papandrios (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 12:55 AM
Its kinda hard not to be a mark for the E when TNA is such marks for guys like Kamala during the Bachelor part. Plus Kip James as the stripper was just gross, not to mention gay.
Posted By: Guest#8584 (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 01:24 AM
Amber O'neil is smoking hot. Daffney & Bayless are no slouches either.
Posted By: Dick Gozinia (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 01:26 AM
Really good Impact.
Good combination this week. TNA should be a wrestling based promotion with comedy rather than a comedy based promotion with wrestling.
And the women continue to be awesome. TNA should sign Daffney. And Mickie Knuckles is awesome. The more Knockouts the better.
Posted By: Reaper (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 02:17 AM
I have been to an iMPACT taping and Lance Hoyt smells like some really good pot. Not kidding.
Posted By: wrestling fan for 30+ years (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 02:35 AM
I admittedly have not watched Impact that much over the last couple months since it can be so mind-numbingly stupid in the booking department, so forgive me if I missed something through my less than loyal viewership.
But, weren't Booker T and Robert Roode in a HUGE blood fued a couple months ago? Was their teaming up on Impact explained at any time recently, or is this just a case of heels teaming up becasue they're heels...regardless of their past history? Regardless, I would tyhink that in kayfabe terms, Booker would NEVER want to have anything to do with Roode after all of the awful things he said about Booker's wife. I kept expecting Tenay or West to bring something up about it during the match but they didn't. Someone help!

I am very disappointed.
I wanted a Flux Capacitor off the cage.
Posted By: ECWFan (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 08:12 AM
Stop bitching about the X-Division KOTM match being NO BUYS(i'm as sick of that as I am of EPIC FAIL) WWE gave away Jeff Hardy and Cena's first match EVER for free. Good solid show. The Kip James stuff was horrendous as usual but the rest was pretty good. AJ beat Tomko?? a little guy beat a big guy by using speed and agility? SAY IT AIN'T SO!
Posted By: Jake Fury (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 08:17 AM
Line of the night goes to Jim Cornette: The past few weeks AJ has been beat on "like a drag queen at a tractor pull."
Posted By: ST3 (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 09:33 AM
38 MINUTES~!!!!
================
WRONG~~~!
32 MINUTES 39 SECONDS ~~~~~~~~~!
Posted By: Guest#9055 (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 09:45 AM
besides the stupid bachelor party (which only served the purpose of introducing the "legends" and causing us to wonder about Sonjay's secret) the rest of the show was pretty good.
Aj looks killer right now. Honestly, he looks so good partly because of the character he's been playing for the last year or so... maybe TNA just has a better feel for the long view than lazy internet fans do? Who knows - all i know is, if Jurt can go 100% Sunday, that will be match of the night.
and Somoa Joe is a kick ass champion - literally. I love his role.
Oh - and fire Kip James, please.
Posted By: Josh (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 09:56 AM
The Slammiversary card actually looks alright, other than one thing - what the fuck is Rhino doing in the main event?? Seriously, James Storm isnt even on the card and Rhino is in the KOTM match? Rhino fucking sucks, his character is stale as fuck, him, Kip & BG James, Team 3D and Black Reign all need to go away and never be seen again.
Posted By: Valkamor (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 10:11 AM
Know what the funny part is about many of these bloggers? Is that of all the good things that occured on TNA last night, the only thing they focus on is kip james and the bachelor party. Funny thing is, even THAT is progressing towards an angle.
I think it was a great idea to put on a KotM with the X Division on free TV. Fans who couldn't understand the rules got a first hand look without ruining the main event on Sunday.
Great to see Daffney and to watch Kong kill her dead. Great debut by Mickie Knuckles and the Beautiful People are being booked very well.
The AJ-Angle storyline is the best thing going today (way better than the Batista/HBK/Y2J storyline because it has a clear heel/face role). Slammiversary looks promising.
The only thing I didn't like was how they cut off Petey during his promo. Note to TNA, give your X-Division champion some RESPECT!
Other than that it was way more exciting than watching Vince's desperate cash grab and 20 min HHH/Cena promos.
Posted By: Orlando (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 10:21 AM
WTF, Roode said on a promo a couple of weeks ago (or maybe one week ago) that Booker T finally got the message he was trying to tell him about earning respect in TNA.
Posted By: Ryder (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 10:23 AM
Great show, Slammiversary bought. E's got some serious competition coming , if TNA go on like this
Posted By: Nash_t (Registered) on June 06, 2008 at 10:57 AM
Once again, I tried out TNA last night. The AJ bit was pretty awesome, and I liked the use of Kevin Nash as an enforcer during the match to make sure that there were no run-ins.
What I don't get is the preview of the KotM match on TV just three days before the PPV. Nor do I understand why Angle can't keep the serious, if insane, persona he had last night as opposed to the stupid goofy Angle that doesn't help the storyline.
I'm not sure what it is - perhaps that I don't watch Impact on a regular basis - but what in the world was Joe doing with Nash last night? Does Nash have a pattern in TNA of turning on people that he started out helping? If he doesn't, it sort of makes Joe look like a crazy, whiny bitch. And that's probably not a good place for a champion to be. If he does have said established pattern, then I take out the "whiny bitch" part. He still comes off as a bit crazy.
Velvet Sky is far and away (based on last night's viewing) more talented on the mic than Angelina Love.
I'm not necessarily sure that I get why we needed so many segments on the bachelor party...
And why is Eric Young looking for Elvis?
Posted By: Mina (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 11:57 AM
Some good stuff overall. What I said a few weeks back about there being more of a noticeable 50/50 divide between ass-kicking promos and matches and Russo-esque crappy gimmicks and skits seems to be coming true. AJ Styles is now on the ass kicking side of that equation. He's come a long way promo wise from where he was before he turned heel. Too bad he'll have to work an extremely safe style against Angle to avoid killing him.
I could see Kaz winning that X-Divison KOTM a mile away, BTW(not really complaining, I'm a fan. But it was pretty obvious).
I'm hoping that the most that comes of the dissention between Joe and Nash is maybe a placeholder feud between the two for the summertime. If Joe loses the title at KOTM due to some convoluted bullshit between the two of them, I'm gonna puke blood.
Scott Steiner has officially become that which he hates so much. For all his talk about Triple H, Stiener is equally incapable of putting himself over verbally without completely shitting on his opponent (or in this case, BOTH Petey Williams AND HIS opponent.)
Kip James dancing at Lethal's bachelor party was gayer than eight guys blowing nine guys. That is all.
Oh...does anyone else wonder how many people who keep yapping about NO BUYS actually really BUY the PPV events they're bitching about not seeing free TV matches in? Cause, yknow...that seems to me like the only ones who'd really have a problem with it.
Posted By: BJC (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 02:02 PM
I thought the show was decent (bar the Angle face off, if I hear one more "crossing the line" phrase, I'll pull my hair out), but one thing urked me.
Isn't the $25,000 Awesome Challenge supposed to be for FANS? (we all know they're wrestlers, but play into the kayfabe) They acknowleged who the challengers to Kong were and that they were wrestlers. Kinda bothered me a little, but I guess it's better than them pretending not to know who Daffney is.
Oh, and Angelina Love might not be as good on the mic as Velvet Sky, but she is definately better in the ring. I've yet to see anything above subpar from her in a match, including this weeks.
Posted By: Bill (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 02:22 PM
velevet isnt the most skilled wrestler in the ring, but she is entertaining
Posted By: fred (Guest) on June 06, 2008 at 04:04 PM
We need to read around the lines here...
Jeff Jarrett in an interview talks about Samoa Joe being the guy that could take TNA places, "Given time" or the push or whatever he said - so I feel like he nodded to Joe winning, then they have pushed the whole "No champion has ever walked out of KOTM with the belt" to the point you gotta know it's to make Joe look super human when he does it.
Impact was really good - there seems to be just one "thing" missing that would make it more fun to watch. Maybe it's the live element or something but sometimes it seems a little dull.
That said, AJ Styles used bad words? What the fick is up with that? AJ was a heel and never said anything about butt buddies etc. At any rate THANK GOD NO MORE PRINCE AJ (even though it was probably so they could do King Booker or whatever).
Tomko -Tomko - Tomko. I know you love Japan, but you are gonna get buried in another American wrestling company. Thanks for putting AJ over though!
The KOTM X Division match... could they at least have had Petey come out to scout it? Small nitpick but still. Oh and Alex Shelly should feud with Devine for stealing his gimmick and Miz's hat.
That was promising, now if anyone wants to donate some tickets for the TNA PPV coming up in Houston to a broke dad that wants to take his son, I would appreciate it!

You could argue that after 2 weeks of Kong killing 'fans' they would throw some unknown 'wrestler' her way to progress the angle a bit as now Kong is killing wrestlers. It also make the rest of the Knockouts look stronger if she is destroying these 'wrestlers' and they can at least hang with her for more than 2 minutes.
Either that or im thinking too much.
