Edge and Vickie are back together!
Sorry for the brief report this week.
- Recap of Edge's noteworthy week including his breakup with Vickie Guerrero.
- Edge is out first. He says that after reflecting on everything for a week, the wedding is still off and that Vickie isn't good enough for him. Edge says he has won more titles than anyone in the business today. Out comes Vickie Guerrero with Hawkins and Ryder. Vickie says that in an effort to help Edge prepare for the Great American Bash, tonight he will face Big Show in a No DQ match. Edge says he isn't scared of Big Show and will turn him into what Vickie is, a loser. Vickie then has Edge's mic cut off.
- Maria video aired.
Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin
Good back and forth match that ended somewhat abruptly with Benjamin blocking the Twist of Fate and hitting a modified neckbreaker for the win. Winner: Shelton Benjamin
- Hawkins and Ryder tell Vickie how Edge has abused them and that they support whatever she wants to do to him. They also say they want to get revenge against Jesse and Festus, so Vickie makes the match.
- MVP comes out to do commentary.
Domino vs. Mr. Kennedy
Short, back and forth match with Kennedy nailing the Mic Check for the win. Afterwards, Kennedy and MVP have a bit of a stare down until Umaga comes out and attacks Kennedy from behind. Umaga hits the Samoan Spike. Winner: Mr. Kennedy
- Chavo Guerrero tells Edge that he is on his side in all of this and says he will straighten everything out for him.
- Chavo Guerrero storms in on Vickie who is on the phone. Chavo says he needs to get something off his chest and then says he can't believe what Edge did to her. He calls Edge a liar and tells Vickie that they are family but Vickie sees through it and books him against Triple H tonight.
John Morrison & The Miz vs. Finlay & Hornswoggle
Another solid, entertaining match. Finish saw Finlay hit a missle dropkick on Morrison for a two count, then getting locked in the Celtic Cross. Miz broke it up but as the ref checked on Morrison, tagged in, and instantly got nailed with the Shillelagh Shot followed by Hornswoggle hitting the Tadpole Splash. Winners: Finlay & Hornswoggle
- WWE Magazine video aired.
Triple H vs. Chavo Guerrero
Fairly quick match that saw Chavo get plenty of offense in before losing. Guerrero got a lot of heat. Finish saw Triple H turn a Three Amigos attempt into a Pedigree for the pin. Winner: Triple H
- Natalya Neidhart vs. Michelle McCool for the WWE Divas Title is announced for the Great American Bash.
Natalya Neidhart & Maryse vs. Michelle McCool & Cherry
Good women's match. Finish saw Natalya lock the Sharpshooter on Cherry for the submission. After the match, McCool was checking on Cherry when Neidhart attacked her, took her outside of the ring, and hit a suplex on the mat. Winners: Natalya Neidhart & Maryse
Jesse & Festus vs. Hawkins & Ryder
Short match that saw Jesse & Festus in control until Hawkins & Ryder got counted out after getting caught up in a discussion about who would go in and face Festus. After the match, Hawkins & Ryder attack Jesse and manage to toss him out of the ring, then hit a double spear on Festus. But Jesse then rings the bell and Festus goes crazy. He and Jesse fight off Hawkins & Ryder. Winners: Jesse & Festus
- Triple H video aired.
Stevie Richards vs. Vladimir Koslov
Stevie Richards mounted some offense and got Koslov off his feet twice, including once with an enziguri, but Koslov got the win with a headbutt to the back of Stevie's head. Winner: Vladimer Koslov
- Backstage, La Familia argues until Edge tells them to come out with him against the Big Show. Vickie then comes and says that if anybody helps Edge, they are fired, and that if Edge doesn't wrestle Big Show, he is fired.
- Jim Ross and Mick Foley go over the Great American Bash card.
Edge vs. Big Show - No DQ
Vickie was at ringside. Big Show was in control early on, knocking Edge all over the place including the crowd. Edge fought back with a spear and then used a kendo stick. Finish saw Big Show block a Conchairto attempt and hit the Chokeslam. Show then went for his own Conchairto but Vickie stopped the match. She checked on Edge as Show stormed off. She tells him she loves him, and he loves her too. They make out as the show ends. Winner: No Contest
I didn't see the show tonight, I was hoping for some more details, but life goes on. Ill wait til the 4R's comes out or til I get the "Dope" in the next few days...

I equal ratings, if you want to see re-introduced talent reduced to plot devices, perhaps you'd like to see what Jericho's been reduced to doing on Mondays...
...so, the only way the Edge-Vickie plot gets interesting is if the writers have the huevos to get a Chavo-Edge storyline going. How many 4+ star matches can possibly come from that?

Am I the only person who thought that women's tag match was a horrible botch fest? Maryse shouldn't be allowed in a ring because every time I see her I'm afraid she's about to kill someone. She made Cherry look like Shawn Michaels.

This is 1999 all over again, this is the exact same thing of what happened with Steph and HHH on smackdown, first they were fighting, then they were punishing their own team members by putting them in matches against people that wanted revenge, then in the ending of the show they make out and fool everybody. I hope HHH beats Edge.

This was a damn good wrestling show this week. JR and Mick are so much more enjoyable than JR and Lawler, who, for all of his experience in the industry, sounds like the world's biggest idiot mark instead of an individual of credibility.
The shoot-style commentary on Shelton was oddly compelling. Matt Hardy has turned into the Rickey Henderson of Smackdown.
If they add some combination of Kennedy/MVP to the GAB card, then that is looking like one of the shows of the year.

Ashish can do what he wants, he's the man on this site lol.
It just seems to me that they are more interested in the Edge/Vickie storyline than his eventual battle with HHH.
Hmmmm, sounds just like what they are doing in TNA, only the WWE marks refuse to notice that.
Smackdown still sucks. When they decide to actually build toward something worthwhile then i'll watch.

Alex, the benjamin/hardy match was non-title. not all that great, but since shelton won this hopefully sets up a better, (read: longer) match.. on PPV maybe?

Why do Edges tights have the Texaco gas station logo on em?
If Finlay and Hornswoggle win the tag team titles from Miz and Morrison it WILL go as far as to be WORSE than the time Mr.Mcmahon became the ECW champ. Morrison is pure talent and Hornswoggle is just Hornswoggle.

They finally gave Vlad some intro. for the longest he has been trotting out in his super exciting, super cool spotlight entrance with no video, no music no fan reaction. Now he has a video package and some low sounding entrance music. also adding to his super cool character is his finishing moves of head butt and reverse DDT. Can't get anymore exciting than that.

Anyone who misses Smackdown is in luck...it usually ahows up on Youtube. Just type in WWE Smackdown followed by the airdate. It's the whole show in about 10 parts minus the commercials. Same for TNA Impact. It'll be great for those that won't be able to watch Smackdown due to the MyNetwork switch.
