    ~ROH RESPECT IS EARNED II~

-Sorry for the delay, my schedule is hell right now.

-The PPV begins with a video package, showcasing year one of ROH on PPV.

-We then get breaking news on the tag title situation. They explain that the Briscoe's won the titles back, but that they had to vacate them due to Mark's injury. The Age of the Fall won the titles, and will now make their first defense in tonight's main event.

The Vulture Squad (Ruckus and Jigsaw) vs. Kevin Steen and El Generico

Jigsaw they gets an octopus hold, but Generico rolls through for a roll up and count of 2. Steen tags in, lock up and a side headlock by Jigsaw. Off the ropes, shoulder block does nothing. He tries again and fails. Back elbow by Steen, Ruckus in, quick kicks, chops by Steen. Off the ropes and an arm drag by Ruckus. Steen tags out, spinning heel kick by Ruckus. Winners: Kevin Steen and El Generico @ 8:05 via pin
    - Very good choice for the opener. Not a great or overly memorable match, but the kind of thing that opens the show very well as it hooked the crowd. It started a bit slow, but the last 3-minutes or so were golden.
    Rating: ***

-We get a video package on the Briscoe Brothers.

Winner: Claudio Castagnoli @ 9:15 via pin
    - A fine under card bout here, nothing wrong with it, but rather disappointing considering what I have seen from both men in the past.
    Rating: **½

-Sweet and Sour Inc. prepares in the back as they tell Albright that he made a huge mistake by not joining Sweet and Sour Inc. Sweeney makes fin of Dempsey as Pearce tells Albright that he will pay for his mistakes.

-Albright then cuts a promo and says Pearce was like a brother to him, family. But Pearce turned his back on him and sold out to Sweeney. Sweeney found out that he does things his way, he calls the shots.

-We get video footage of Albright refusing to beat down Dempsey and fighting off Sweet and Sour Inc.

-Back to Albright who says he has his own army, Pelle is the first. Sure he isn't big and strong, but he has heart. Albright respects Pelle, and tonight he shows why he makes ROH proud. The next man is insane, Delirious! Delirious speak! Albright says you need insanity, and no one has that more than Delirious. What about Del Ray? Tonight he has a remedy for her, Daizee Haze. Winner: Brent Albright, Delirious, and Pelle Primeau @ 11:21 via referee stoppage
    - A really fun 6-man that with a good build to the Albright hot tag. It also set up well for the after match angle.
    Rating: **¾

-After the match Pearce lays out Albright with the briefcase. Sweeney and the whole crew are in the ring, standing over Albright. As Pearce unzips the case, Sweeney starts saying that in the history of wrestling, only one title has truly meant anything. Pearce pulls out the NWA World Title, and Sweeney says that now HE has the ONLY champion that matters, and that gives him the power.

-They then cut right away to a video package for Strong vs. Stevens.

FIGHT WITHOUT HONOR: Erick Stevens vs. Roderick Strong

Strong is the FIP Champion, but this is non-title as they have a GRUDGE TO SETTLE! The fight begins as the video ends as they brawl by the entranceway. Winner: Roderick Strong @ 20:54 via pin
    - This was awesome. Of course it all depends on if you dig this kind of match or not, but this was a great match that played well into the brutal feud that these guys had been having. Stiff, brutal and a great build to the huge ending spot.
    Rating: ****

-Both guys get extended thank you chants after the match, and rightfully so.

    - I have said this before and will say it again, I LOVE tag team wrestling and LOVE when it gets properly showcased. This was an EXCELLENT match right here, everyone worked hard, they played the hatred between Jacobs and Aries very well and again when the show was over, you had the feeling that Tyler Black was indeed a superstar. Absolute greatness here.
    Rating: ****½

-Nigel is out and calls Danielson pathetic and that he doesn't deserve a title shot He just lost to Black, someone Nigel beat in short order. Danielson doesn't deserve a title shot until he beats every single person he has beaten. Until then, NO TITLE SHOT FOR YOU!

-Black celebrates alone in the ring as the crowd chants his name.

THE 411: Another great PPV effort from ROH. They delivered a solid under card, as well as the big angle with Sweet and Sour unveiling the NWA Title. The last 80-minutes of the PPV may have been the best of the year, as the Fight Without Honor, the ROH Title Match and ROH Tag Title Main Event were an amazing close to the show. If you're looking for a great wrestling show, your money will not be wasted here. This gets a big recommendation from me.

My biggest coproblem in the Nigel/Go match was that the crowd never seemed to buy into a title change no matter what move Go used.

In all honesty this was their (weakest) show in my opinion but that's not saying much

It was a typical ROH PPV, great stuff within the last 3 matches

I think I worded my last comment wrong I meant to say that it was probably the weakest ROH PPV but it was still a great show.

The only issue is on my part because I don't follow ROH like I want to

I think the one before this one was one of the weaker ones. The undercard was nothing special.

I really liked this one. Easily worth $10. Hell, i would have paid $20!

I kinda feel bad for the people that paid $50 for the great american bash.

I did find the Title match unspectacular though. It might have been because i had to use the bathroom. i caught the first 3 minutes and the last 5 minutes. I didn't like Nigel no-selling the superkick for the finish. I'm not overly impressed with Nigel's in ring arsenal anyways.

An 8 minute match gets 3 stars? Really?

They shouldn't call this PPV. It should be called, their latest DVD taping.

Posted By: Guest#1425 (Guest)  on August 02, 2008 at 04:02 PM

"An 8 minute match gets 3 stars? Really?"

Because everyone knows you can't get three snowflakes without at least going 11 and a half minutes.

Care more about the action and less about the match times Captain Anal.

Joe Vs Kobashi wasnt a good show thats worthy of getting on DVD.You can just get the best In The World DVD instead which has that Joe/Kobashi match on it.Supercard Of Honor 2006 was a really good show overall with 2 outstanding matches and a really good undercard.Obviously theres the Blood Generation vs Do Fixer match and the great danielson/Strong match and Aries/Strong Vs hero/Claudio. Unified is another overall great card.

Posted By: JasonJericho (Guest)  on August 02, 2008 at 05:31 PM

I'm with what Colin posted. Obviously this is the weakest PPV i've seen from these guys, but still a good show. Main event was indeed good stuff.

@Jboy - You want to get started on ROH DVD's, I suggest finding one of the retail DVD's like Bloodstained Honor or Greatest Rivalries. If you want to buy them off their website, I suggest anything within the Summer of Punk (Death Before Dishonor III to Punk: The Final Chapter) or as far as just stand along wrestling is concerned, either Glory By Honor V Night 2 or Supercard of Honor III. Hell, just get the entire Supercard of Honor trilogy. It's all good.

Really good PPV here, but thats the standard in ROH.

Jboy: Id suggest Unified as well, also Man Up, Driven, and Take No Prisoners are some really recent AWESOME shows. If you are looking for older DVDs, I'd suggest Joe/Punk II or Final Battle 2005.

There are 4 ROH DVDs out in retail, and Deep Discount has them for less than $12 each, and free shipping. They have some of the best matches in ROH history on them and are a good starting point.

I'm one of the 32 people who bought this ppv and I was satisfied. It wasn't Man Up quality, but it was still really good.

Anyone new to ROH: buy Supercard of Honor III using your 25% discount on rohwrestling.com. It's seriously one of the best wrestling shows I've ever seen.

This is one of the ppvs that really makes you either an ROH fan or not. I loved everything on the ppv. Then again I am a ROHbot and have no problem marking out and giving everything three stars no matter what.

As far as ROH DVDs go wait for Friday's to see what sales go up. I buy my DVDs based on what sale they're running. If you wait to the right momment, you'll catch a 30% off everything, a $10 DVD sale, Buy 2 get 1.

If you can only get two DVDs (thats about 40 bucks.) I would get Supercard of Honor II & uhhhh I'll say Great Time Great Memories. The ten buck dvd sales is a great chance to go back and get FB 05, Death Before Dishonor III, Chi Town Struggle, The Best of DVDs

    I would definitely second this.

This sounds great but I'm having a hard time trying to find RoH in the local TV listing. I mean being the BEST fed (as chosen by 411mania.con) should should be enough to get a TV Deal RIGHT?

This was actually only the second ROH show I've ever seen (the first was the 6th Anniv Show). Obviously it wasn't as good, but still better than a lot of shows I've seen. (here in the Philippines, we only get WWE and TNA)

The crowd is always awesome, they really add to the show, making everyone seem like a star.

    POSITIVES:

Main event was awesome. I haven't seen them much, but I love Danielson and Aries. Good story (even the Nigel/Dragon feud was furthered), good spots.

Tyler Black-- 1st time I've seen him, he looks like a star! Crazy finishers. Can he promo any good?

The Steen/Generico/VS match was pretty good. Considering the fast pace, I loved that nobody really botched anything. Steen's "Do something flippy!" line is too funny.

Davey Richrads has impressed me the two times I've seen him. Very crisp.

    NEGATIVES:

Claudio Castagnoli doesn't seem like he's that good a wrestler.

Nigel no-sold a lot of Go's offense, which kinda sucked.

Strong and Stevens are STILL feuding? Terrific ending, some good spots, but I didn't really like their match on the 6th Anniv Show either. Oh, and there was some annoying no-selling as well.

Albright is boring. I didn't see enough of Pearce, but he didn't impress me either. Is he a worthy NWA champ?

    PURGATORY:

Is Jacobs only the second most important man in his own stable? He's got the angle and all... but that other dude just pwned the Best Wrestler in the World! And the fans were chanting his name to end the show!

The one before this ppv was the weaker one. This was great and the fight without remorse was the best match of the card. Better then the main event, the main event was the second best match on the card.
