411's ECW on Sci-Fi report 8.12.08
Posted by Michael Bauer on 08.12.2008

Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper. I'm back from vacation and I definitely need to thank Shawn for doing such a great job filling in for me for these past two weeks. And does it feel good to come back and have a commentary team that is 10 million times better than we had before. Thank you Todd Grisham and Matt Striker!

Todd Grisham and Matt Striker at ringside as they hype the main event for tonight as Mark Henry and Matt Hardy team up against The Miz and Morrison.

Extreme Rules: Tommy Dreamer vs. Colin Delaney

Striker has to point out how Tommy went rummaging through his hardcore closet. Colin looks terrified, as he should. Colin tells the ref he is not getting in the ring, so the ref just rings the bell. Colin runs, but Dreamer follows and chases him down and throws him in the shopping cart he brought out. Colin avoids a punch from Dreamer and Dreamer's fist hits the post. Colin shoves Dreamer into the ring post and stomps the hand. Colin grabs a trash can lid, but eats a Kendo Stick. Colin in the ring and Tommy hits a Kendo Stick Pumphandle Suplex. Colin hung upside down in the turnbuckle, trash can placed in front, and the low dropkick connects. Striker says Tommy is doing a Duke the Dumpster. HA! Colin laid in the trash can as Dreamer grabs the lid. Colin avoids the elbow drop and gets a two count. Dreamer grabs a stop sign and nails Dreamer. Colin goes up top and misses a legdrop with the stop sign. Dreamer plants Colin with a DDT on the stop sign and it is over at 3:11.

Winner: Tommy Dreamer

Lena Yada is backstage with Miz and Morrison, congratulating them on the Dirt Sheet last week. We get highlights and them having fun and Mark Henry and Matt Hardy, before they both get decked by the champion and challenger to the ECW Title. So tonight, they face them tonight. Miz can't believe they acted the way they did to the comedy of last week. Morrison says they are the Pineapple Express of the WWE. So they are overrated and stupid? He also says he likes their odds against two guys who will be at each other's throats this Sunday.

Back from the break and the Smackdown Breakdown shows psycho Edge destroying the rest of the Family. Honestly, Edge is so much more awesome this way.

Evan Bourne vs. Bam Neely

Bam comes out with Chavo and he still looks kinda banged up and that he apparently has a concussion. But despite it, Chavo is forcing Bam to compete. Chavo also looks worse for wear. The bell rings and Evan goes after the head and Bam just grabs him and rams him into the corner. Evan slips out and hits high heel kick to the face. Evan heads up top and Chavo distracts him, allowing Bam to come over and shove him to the floor. Matt mentions that Evan is still around, unlike other recently debuting ECW superstars. Bam brings Evan in and stomps away. Bam with a huge short arm clothesline that almost takes Evan's head off. Two count for Bam and Evan locked in a neck wrench. Evan escapes and tries a sunset flip. Bam drops the knees, but Evan avoids it and decks Bam with a roundhouse kick to the back of the head. Evan with a backflip for a two count. Bam lifts up Bourne, but Evan twists out and hits a DDT. Bourne back up top again and he hits the perfect shooting star press for the three count at 3:07.

Winner: Evan Bourne

Backstage, Armando Estrada shows up with his official ECW contract and Teddy Long signs it. He says they are going to celebrate as Tiffany brings over champagne and three glasses. Teddy Long then books Armando tonight in his first official match against Finlay. Cheers!

Finlay (with Hornswoggle) vs. Armando Estrada

The bell rings and Estrada backs Finlay into the turnbuckle, but Finlay shoves back and chops Estrada. Finlay downs Estrada and drops the elbow. Chinlock applied by Finlay and he hits another stiff elbow. Huge clothesline by Finlay connects. Finlay with a headbutt and he drags Armando to the ring apron and drops his head on it. Mike Knox appears on the stage to watch. Back in the ring, Finlay hits a huge powerslam and notices Knox. Finlay with a pressure point grip on Estrada and turns it into an armbar. Estrada gets the ropes. Finlay whips Estrada into the turnbuckle and connects with a shoulder block to the gut. Finlay gets distracted again and Estrada trips Finlay into the second rope. Estrada stomps away and then starts clubbing the back of Finlay. Finlay put in a chin lock as Knox comes closer to the ring. Finlay to his feet and he gets knocked down with a clothesline. Estrada with a sharp snapmare takedown and another chinlock. Finlay up and Estrada whips him into the corner. Finlay gets the boot up and decks Estrada with a clothesline. Finlay connects with a flipping fireman's carry. Finlay grabs Estrada and hits the Celtic Cross, which Matt calls Emerald Fusion. Finlay gets the pin and the three at 5:30. Finlay dances with Hornswoggle and a young fan afterwards as Knox retreats to the back.

Winner: Finlay

Backstage, Teddy Long and Tiffany are still drinking as Ricky Ortiz comes in and shows off his towel. He says it is for Ricky and all his fans, saying it is an investment opportunity. Teddy tells him to slow his roll, but he should stick to wrestling and prove himself in the ring as next week he will be facing another debuting superstar. Tiffany ways the towel around and says it is fun.

After the Slam of the Week in the Cena/Batista feud, we get a partial SummerSlam rundown.

Backstage, Matt Hardy says it would rather team with his brother Jeff or Finlay or Tommy Dreamer or Lena Yada… anyone else besides Mark Henry so he doesn't have to watch his back as well as his opponents tonight. Mark Henry says that they are teaming up just so he can get his hands on Miz and Morrison and he wants Matt in his way so that he can go right through him.

John Morrison and The Miz vs. Matt Hardy and Mark Henry (with Tony Atlas)

Mark Henry is licking his chops as he walks down the aisle. And the cheers for Matt Hardy are louder than the reaction for all others in the match… combined. The bell rings and Mark Henry starts with Morrison. Morrison tries an arm wrench and gets tossed half way across the ring. Morrison thrown into the corner and Miz brought in the hard way. Miz also thrown into the corner. Mark charges, Miz ducks, and Morrison gets pancaked. Matt comes in to care of Miz and the former tag champs duck to the outside as we head to commercial at 1:00.

Back at 4:20 and Matt slams Morrison and tags in Mark Henry. Mark locks Morrison in some sort of chinlock and drags him back to the corner to tag in Matt. Matt misses an elbow drop and Miz gets tagged in. Miz whips Matt, but it is reversed. Miz gets decked with a clothesline and a bulldog for a two count. Matt follows Miz to the outside and throws him into the guardrail, but Miz kicks off Matt and hardy hits the steel steps. Back into the ring and Miz stomps away. Matt Hardy up but Miz backs Hardy into the corner. Matt Hardy fights out, but Miz hits his charging clothesline for a two count. Morrison tagged in and he sledges the back of Hardy and Mark Henry cheers him on. Matt in the corner and Morrison with a snapmare. Morrison with a kick to the back. Hardy whipped into the corner and he catches Morrison with an elbow. Hardy catches Morrison with a side effect off the second rope and it is just enough to get a three count at 9:00. Morrison looked to have kicked out, but the ref says he got the three. Mark Henry looks kinda pissed. He goes after the former champions and tosses them out of the ring. Mark grabs his title and Matt Hardy. Mark raises the hand of Matt Hardy and then drills him with the World's Strongest Slam onto the ECW Title. Mark Henry walks off satisfied as we fade to black.

Winners: Matt Hardy and Mark Henry

Mark Henry isnt actually that bad as the ECW champ. He is a lot more entertaining and better on the mic then I remember him being.
Thought it was another solid show from ECW.
And who will be the new ECW star??

Looked like Morrison is hurt...

daybewing superstar, eh? Colt Cabana anyone? Or should I say Julian Schizer? Freddie Carrothead? Some blandly horrible and less interesting name than Colt Cabana?

I loved that Striker pulled a Duke "The Dumpster" Droese reference out. I really beginning to like Striker on commentary.

Stiffs & midgets - great wrassling show! One good match and a bourne sighting!

The Law of WWE One-Upsmanship states that any superstar involved in a pay-per-view match who gets his ass handed to him on the show directly before the actual match will therefore win said PPV match.

Matt Hardy = ECW Champion.

matt striker rules...i love his subtle references like calling the celtic cross by its correct name; the emerald fusion and referring to evan bourne's past in dragon gate..btw i thought referencing other wrestling promotions is prohibited in the wwe...damn good show this week....colt cabana next week please

Posted By: sats (Guest)  on August 13, 2008 at 12:51 AM

I wish and hope it's gnna be Cabana...but let's face it, it's more than likely gonna be Tyrone Jones with this shootfighting style gimmick...if it is Cabana tho, then it's party time, and I give him 6 months before he's on Raw, if they give him ample mic time

What was with the way that Tiffany was staring and smiling like some retard at Ricky Ortiz the whole time he was talking? I couldn't tell if those were fuck me eyes or if she just got off the short bus with Eugene.

The Celtic Cross isn't the same as the Emerald Fusion, it's actually the Air Raid Crash. But all nitpicking aside, Striker is the best new commentator they've had in ages.

Call me crazy, but the part of tonight's show were the Tiffany segments.

ECW is more enjoyable because of Striker. "I didn't know women were made of metal" classic.

and then the ECW rating falls under the .5 mark as the crybaby lil girlie man holds the belt...i hope Mark Henry locks in a bear hug on the him/her and squeezes to his/her insides explode out of the ribcage all over the ring
