411's WWE Raw Report 8.18.08
Posted by Daniel Wilcox on 08.18.2008

Raw starts now!

Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler are your hosts.

Chris Jericho is out in his shiny suit to kick off the show. He isn't here to apologize, and if anyone should be held responsible for what happened to Rebecca, it should be Shawn Michaels himself. He did not put Rebecca in harms way, and here's the proof. We get clips of last night's Michaels promo, and Jericho inadvertently punching Rebecca. Big "you suck" chants for Jericho now. Jericho says Michaels knew what he was doing last night but instead of doing things the classy way, he had to do things the HBK way, to see his name in lights one more time. He wanted to placate his ego one more time. And as a result of that, the fans are responsible for what happened to Rebecca as well. But ultimately, all Shawn had to do was look him in the eye and say it was him who ended his career but he didn't do that and look what happened. Jericho says despite Shawn's accolades and nicknames, all that matters is that the last moment he ever spent in this ring was him cradling the head of his unconscious wife and knowing that he was responsible for it. Shawn has tarnished his career and legacy forever and he and his family will have to live with it forever. Jericho says Shawn deserved it. Big "HBK" chants now. Shawn had it coming.

Commercial.

Batista vs. Paul Burchill

Lock up, to the corner. Kick to the knee by Burchill, rights and a side headlock. Batista gets a shoulder tackle but gets telegraphed. Pummelling in the corner by Burchill, reverses a whip and Batista hits a clothesline. Burchill slides out of a powerslam attempt and gets a chopblock. Burchill goes to work on the knee again but gets caught with a huge SPEAR! To the corner, shoulder thrusts by The Animal. Spinebuster! Batista Bomb. Done.

Winner: Batista

Mike Adamle introduces Primo Colon, Carlito's brother and Raw's newest Superstar. But Adamle has to run to catch John Cena. Cena blows him off and meets with Big Dave. Cena says they had a great match and the better man won. They shake hands. Cena says but that was last night.

Commercial.

Katie Lea Burchill and Jillian vs. Kelly Kelly and Mickie James

Mickie and Jillian start. Mickie cartwheels out of a monkey flip and gets a dropkick for 1. Katie Lea comes in but Mickie double teams them, then hits a clothesline on Burchill. Kelly comes in with a sunset flip for 2. Forearm exchange by both, and Kelly hits a rana. Jillian comes in to assist with an electric chair drop for 2. Jilian pulls on the hair a bit and tags out. Kick to the gut by Katie, followed by a backbreaker for 2. Camel clutch motherfuckers! Kelly fights out but Katie slows her down and tags out. Hair mare out of the corner. Jillian knocks Mickie off the apron and covers Kelly for 2. Kelly gets the knees up to come back and we get tags both sides. Head scissors by Mickie, clothesline, and again. An enzuigiri connects. Mickie brings Jillian in and takes them both down with clotheslines. Mickie catches Katie with a neckbreaker but Jillian breaks up the pin. Mickie and Kelly catch Jillian with a double dropkick. Katie rolls up Mickie for 2 but Mickie finishes Katie with the DDT.

Winner: Mickie James and Kelly Kelly

Commercial.

JBL vs. Jamie Noble

JBL fucks him up with rights, but Noble is a pitbull so he comes back, avoids a boot and dropkicks the knee. He gets caught with a Fallaway slam though. Clubbing blows slow things down. JBL drops a big elbow, and another and a third. And a fourth, and a fifth. Moveset! And a sixth. Damn. The Clothesline from Hell connects, but JBL isn't done. He hits another clothesline. And a third. The ref starts to count, but decides to just stop the match.

Winner: JBL

Commercial.

Mike Adamle comes out. He has announcements to make. Later tonight, CM Punk will go one on one with Chris Jericho! Speaking of Punk's title, Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon have asked him to make the announcement that at Unforgiven, a new WWE Championship concept will be presented. 5 Superstars will compete in a 20-minute match, with the title being able to change hands as many times as you like inside that 20 minutes! The participants are… CM Punk, Kane, JBL, John Cena and Batista. This match is called the Championship Scramble!

Simply Priceless vs. John Cena

Before Cena hits the ring, Shad Gaspard distracts Priceless long enough for JTG to steal the tag titles!

Rhodes starts with Cena. Or not, they both decide to start. But the ref doesn't allow that. We go to a…

Commercial.

Back from the break and Cena falls prey to the number games and DiBiase pummels him from the mount position. He gets a 2 count. Rhodes in and they hit a double suplex for 2 more. DiBiase in and hits a dropkick for 2 more. Rhodes in and they hit a double back elbow for another 2 count. Cena comes back but gets caught with a side Russian legsweep and a knee drop. DiBiase gets a cheap shot in. Cena fights back from the apron, but then gets shoved off into the guardrail. Back in and Rhodes gets 2. DiBiase in and fires off, but Cena comes back to boos. He misses a charge though and DiBiase hits a back suplex. Fist drop by Ted, followed up by a clothesline for 2. Rhodes in and they hit a double elbow drop for another near fall. More cheap shots from DiBiase. They keep Cena in their corner and continue to beat him down, but Cena fights out once more but gets caught from behind and covered for 2. Cena fights back again but misses a shoulder tackle and falls all the way to the floor. Rhodes whips Cena into the ring steps now. Back in and Cody gets another 2 count. DiBiase in and hits a snap suplex. Boots by Ted, suplex. Forearm by DiBiase, but Cena blocks a suplex and hits one of his own. Cody in but Cena blocks rights and fires off and now hits the shoulder tackles. Protoplex! You can't see him. Five Knuckle Shuffle connects! FU attempt, but first he has to take care of DiBiase with a clothesline. STFU on Cody, and he taps!

Winner: John Cena

Commercial.

Harley Race is at ringside.

We get more highlights of Rebecca Michaels getting knocked out last night.

After the show last night, Shawn Michaels told Michael Cole that he wants to go home and comfort his wife and children. And then… he walks away.

T-Grish is with Chicago's own CM Punk. Punk says Jericho's actions are the lowest he has seen. Punk says in Chicago we deal with guys like Jericho. Jericho has a whole lot more coming to him tonight, and it will be done Chicago style.

Santino Marella vs. D'Lo Brown

Kofi Kingston comes out for guest commentary. Lock up, knee by Brown and a dropkick. Suplex by D'Lo followed up by a missed splash. Santino hits a running something and gets 2. D'lo comes back with a running forearm, clothesline and a scoop slam. D'Lo hits a leg drop and goes up top, but Beth Phoenix stands in the way. D'Lo tells her to get to steppin', so she slaps hm for the DQ. Santino takes a right and gets back dropped. D'Lo clotheslines Santino right into the path of Kofi, who bounces Santino's head off of the announce table.

Winner: D'Lo Brown by DQ

Commercial.

WWE 24/7 Classics on demand. We get clips of a bikini contest between Torrie Wilson and Stacy Kiebler. Tajiri wouldn't let Torrie compete, so Trish Stratus took her place.

Kane has some spooky new music, much more like his old theme mixed with Taker's ministry theme. We get clips of Kane revealing the contents of the bag, Rey Mysterio's mask. Kane says he has been carrying the bag around for a while and it comforted him and put a smile on his face. We don't realize that Rey hasn't been around for 6 weeks and there is a reason for that. Kane never liked Mysterio. He doesn't like people who do like him. He's slime who hides behind a mask. He's like a fungus that grows in the marshes of your psyche. 6 weeks ago, he obliterated Rey in a parking lot, but he spared his life. Rey is still alive but his spirit is crushed, broken, dead. Is he alive or is he dead? Kane laughs maniacally and Batista is out now! Uppercut by Kane, SPEAR BY BATISTA! Spinebuster! Kane avoids the Batista Bomb by attacking the knee and Kane hits a chokeslam!

Commercial.

Unforgiven:
Championship Scramble – CM Punk vs. JBL vs. Kane vs. Batista vs. John Cena

The theme song is by Motorhead and it is awesome. It's called "Rock Out."

CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho with Lance Cade

Punk gets a huge ovation from his hometown crowd. Apparently he has over 100 family and friends here tonight. Kicks to the thighs by Punk and a reverse elbow. Kicks in the corner and a stiff kick to the back following a snapmare. Punk hits a backbreaker and kicks Jericho again. Knees now by Punk in the corner. Jericho comes back with a forearm and kicks of his own, beating down Punk in the corner. Punk locks Jericho in some submission around the ropes that I'm not knowledgeable enough to call. Punk gets a sunset flip then bust out more crazy submissions. Punk avoids a charge and Jericho falls all the way to the floor. Punk seems to think he's been busted open again from the back of the head as we go to…

Commercial.

Punk fights out of a modified sleeper but gets caught with a series of elbows and a backbreaker into a submission. Punk fights out of that with knees but Jericho catches him in an abdominal stretch. He knees out of that but Jericho remains in control, goes for the bulldog but gets caught with a kick! Punk fires off with clothesline and hits WELCOME TO CHICAGO, MOTHERFUCKER! Punk hits the high knee in the corner but Jericho shoves him off of the bulldog attempt and hits the Lionsault for 2. Walls of Jericho try, but Punk kicks him way and hits a rana for 2. There's a collision in the corner but Punk goes for the GTS, Jericho slips out and locks in the WALLS OF JERICHO! Punk fights and crawls towards the bottom rope… and gets there. Jericho charges but Punk lifts him up. Y2J comes down on the apron and goes to the top, but Jericho hits the high knee on the top rope! Bulldog from the top rope! Lance Cade provides the distraction, and Jericho hits the Codebreaker for 3!

Winner: Chris Jericho

Jericho walks out as we go off the air.

Ahh, damn it. Another great match ruined by a bad finish. And again CM Punk loses! What the hell VINCE!?

Posted By: newbielol (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:02 PM

wow, nice way to fuck up CM Punk's momentum. he was doing great and they did such a lame a finish, should've known something lame was gonna happen when cade was brought to ringside. disappointing. and jericho looks so generic, but i do like the codebreaker, it looks cool, lame finish aside

Not a big punk fan, but did they really need to job out the WHC to escalate Jericho anymore?

Posted By: ptrdvs (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:03 PM

I think a nice, long, Honky Tonk Man-style IC run for Santino is in order!

"at Unforgiven, a new WWE Championship concept will be presented. 5 Superstars will compete in a 20-minute match, with the title being able to change hands as many times as you like inside that 20 minutes!"

Yes, very new and completely unoriginal, totally not like the Hardcore Battle Royal at WM2000.

raw was epic bore.

pretty low that Punk has to job again in his hometown. Championship Scramble = EPIC FAIL

Posted By: Guest#1574 (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:06 PM

wow Punk might end up having a worse title riegn than Mysterio. Losing in his own Hometown. But I like that Jericho got the win he deserves a title shot at Unforgiven not that shufle trufle thing.

The champ jobs in his hometown to a guy not in his PPV match. Perfect booking!

Posted By: Tom (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:07 PM

jericho delivered a nice promo and cm punk and jericho had a pretty good match....i really thought cm would get the win and the big momentum but oh well. Outside of this, nothing else interested me in this raw, oh i'm pretty sure the comments will come floring in about the match that made simply priceless look simply irrelevant

Someone needs to update the live coverage comments - where's RVD in this episode anyways?

CM punk = JOBBER of the year

Posted By: Guest#9198 (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:09 PM

what a cheap way to not have steph and shane on the show by having GM Supreme come out instead..

Posted By: squirrel master (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:10 PM

So how did the two hometown boys do?

D'Lo Brown wins by DQ after getting bitchslapped by Beth Phoenix.

CM Punk jobs semi-cleanly in the main event to Jericho.

Terrific.

Posted By: Stanley (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:11 PM

Distraction or no, Punk was buried, in his hometown, by a guy with an entirely separate feud going on, who didn't need that kind of buildup. What's up for Survivor Series? Warrior vs. Sid? Fuck you, Vince. And that scramble match is BULLSHIT.

Posted By: robot3:16 (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:12 PM

I'm hoping that this burying of CM Punk will lead to a fantastic heel turn. If not, this is some pretty stupid shit.

Congratulations, your World Heavyweight Champion is the fourth or fifth best wrestler on Raw.

Let's see: It goes Batista, John Cena, Chris Jericho, then CM Punk, JBL, and Kane.

nobody has brought up beth's nipple slip after the marella/brown match

Posted By: guest (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:15 PM

No Surprises except the Russo...I mean Adamle way of defending the title at Unforgiven, WTF is Vince thinking, fans are watching WWE because even if the wrestling is toned down at least it's the classical wrestling people like, this 20 minute thing just smells too gimmicky.

And will booking learn to shake up the main event roster, Ever Since the Draft it's been nobody but Cena, Batista, Kane, JBL and Punk. Push somebody.

Has a face ever lost a handicap match against a heel tag team? (partners that can't wrestle don't count, offical Handicap Matches).

CM PUNK is the freakin champion. after a good match, a match-up I had really wanted to see, at least let him win in his hometown. He wasn't berried, but Why can't he just get to win!

Posted By: Davis (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:16 PM

Of course CM Punk lost, they were in Chicago! That's how Vince works! Why would they want to send the fans home happy?

Posted By: Dan (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:16 PM

KANE'S CAREER=EPIC FAIL

CM PUNK, go back to ring of honor where you actually win matches with dignity.

Posted By: Marc (Guest)  on August 18, 2008 at 11:16 PM

My God has the E gone downhill. A stupid gimmick match at Unforgiven, a pathetic champion with, what, one or two clean wins in his entire reign. Ugh, nothing here to get me watching again.

If Punk beat Jericho clean, would you be happy or would you all would be complaining about Jericho losing when he's on a hot streak right now?

"Hey Creative, we haven't had much success with this Carlito fellow...maybe we should mix it up a bit. I know! Lets give him a brother?"

to quote Dennis Miller, "2 x s#*t = s#*t. If they really wanted to f*#k ya, they'd give you three of these things"

People cry too much. Don't be surprised if Punk keeps the title at Unforgiven. Let's look at the participants; Kane and Big Dave will probably get a program going since Mysterio's his little buddy, I don't think Cena will win the title till Mania(off Batista IMO), and if JBL was gonna win the belt it would've happened last night. Punks' title run is safe, I think, till Survivor Series. Also, don't anybody say Punk loses again. This is his first one-on- one loss since he won the belt, and Cade got involved. He'll get his win back from Jericho. Anybody else think that Mysterio will return as Kane's "slave" and be wearing Kane's old mask.

Looks like Vince and company said "Well, that little ol' Olympic thing in China is on TV again this week, let's take the night off".

That was one of the most off pace Raw's in recent memory. The timing and position of the camera angles was weird, Cole and King seemed off their game and all the matches were not very sharp.
Throw in the RUSSOIFIC booking (Larry if you don't rip this stuff you are a mark in the truest sense of the word) and it was not a good WWE night.
No one is buying into any of these feuds.
And it's so predictable that my 12 year old son said (upon hearing the intro for Shad/JT) "Watch them steal the belts".

C'mon Thursday night - TNA TNA TNA.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Yes. Go back to an indy fed instead of being the world champ in the absolute undisputed biggest company in wrestling. Call his reign "EPIC FAIL" or whatever, he is the world champion and all this "buried" BS is BS. CM Punk is doing his job as he is instructed to do by his superiors. He will lose the title when they say so. Relax on this stuff a little, guys.

wow Punk loses to a guy not even in the title match at Unforgiven, Simply Priceless loses to one guy, Paul Burchill and Katie Lea are jobbed out with ease. Great booking wwe oh and to you WWE marks who will call it a great show and great booking bite me seriously go away.

jericho beats down shawn, cm punk comes to the ring likes he's going to help shawn but turns heel. thats all tonights show was about.

Prediction:
next wrestlmania main event
punk v.s. jericho v.s shawn v.s mark henry.

henry squahes them all in under 2 minutes. he then grabs a red, white& blue top hat & cane from under the ring ala apollo creed from rocky. The music starts up jamming "living in america". Where mark henry dances in the middle of the ring for the last 45minutes of wrestlemania. Which would make it the greatest wrestlemania in history. BOOK IT..

what the heck was up with that piece of food in kanes tooth did no one not see that before he went out or was that intentional?

CM Punk wasnt buried but i hoped he wouldve won but the worst thing is this 20 minutes battle royal its gonna take King and Cole the entire match to explain this BS. Also why in the hell was he go back to ROH only smarks watch that stuff i mean i have watched it but the presentation is awfully poor its like backyard wrestling. The guy in ROH who deserves a shot in WWE is Nigel McGuinness i mean the his last name is perfect for a fued with Punk. I will also say that KENTA is awesome but to small to be taken seriously but come on if ROH is so great they would be on TV.

I was at the show, the crowd really wanted to see punk win. It would have been better if Punk were repping bulls or bears gear, half that crowd was white sox fans, he would have gotten a bigger pop if he wasnt wearing his new cubs gear

Posted By: Ryan Dempster (Guest)  on August 19, 2008 at 12:12 AM

1. Michael Cole's job is to get the talent over. I don't like Punk as champ but there is no excuse for the number of times Cole uses the phrase "transitional champion". Cole sucks.

2. Jobbing the tag champs again so Cena stays strong? WTF? I HATE this booking. What is the sense in devaluing the titles like that?

3. Similary, jobbing the champ is retarded.

4. I really don't like JBL and the reason I dislike him has nothing to do with the fact that I'm supposed to dislike him. I dislike him in a "go away" kind of way.

5. Mickie & KK, damn.

The Championship Scramble... coming soon to Denny's!

Posted By: Jeff (Guest)  on August 19, 2008 at 12:41 AM

Total crap show with the Jericho's fantastic, intense but offbeat interview being the highlight peeking through the garbage. Terrible booking decisions everywhere.
1) Batista being involved in a squash match- then squashing a 'monster' who he will likely work a program with...now we have seen him punk Kane out, and we didn't think Kane was going to win before, so this makes it worse.
2) CM Punk losing was a bad move for many reasons, but one is that it makes the title meaningless. Jericho isn't even in the scramble match. The match itself was intense and very good work in front of a hot crowd.
3) John Cena single handedly smashing the tag champions is WCW Thunder stupid. Just have him look like a monster and lose by DQ or something.

Etcetera etcetera etcetera, it could go on forever. This show was a flop after a very hot PPV.

I honestly couldn't tell you a damn thing Kane said during his spiel, as I was fixated on trying to figure out what the hell was on his tooth.

It was probably something about Mysterio, so I was probably better off focusing on his poor hygiene.

I have no interest in a Kane/Mysterio feud, and seeing as how Kane is getting kinda sloppy as of late, Rey will probably just end up getting injured for the 100th time.

First of all f*ckface(that'll be your handle since you didn't put a name in but insist on insulting people), I never said Punk was "my" champion. If I had my way, it WOULD be Jericho or Orton(yeah, I know he's hurt) holding the belt. Also, I know Batista/Kane won't set the IWC on fire but Batista puts asses in the seats. Listen to the reaction he gets when he steps out the curtain and tell me I'm lying. The money is all that matters. You think the WWE would have been around as long as it has if Vince didn't know what he was doing? So go ahead and hate, but you know that you'll be tuning in next week to see what happens next, smartass.

The 411mania comment box has some of the worst fans I've ever seen.Every week they say RAW is garbage but every week still watch. If you like TNA,then watch, same thing for ROH.Most of the stories made sense and because someone cvan actually enjoy an episode of RAW does'nt make them a mark.

I swore, briefly, the latest scores for Larry's Legends, Baron's Blitzers, and Sarge's Snipers flashed across my screen during RAW tonight. Briefly

It's cute how people call him a "jobber" when it wasn't even a clean loss.

Shoot your computer.

Yes, very new and completely unoriginal, totally not like the Hardcore Battle Royal at WM2000.

Posted By: Sarcastro (Guest) on August 18, 2008 at 11:04 PM

IT'S NOT A BATTLE ROYAL
A Battle Royal mean eliminations.

this 20 minute thing just smells too gimmicky.

WOW TOO GIMMICKY
it's a simple match where the last person to get a pin or submission before the time limit wins

Spear! Spinebuster! DAVE~! Bomb! Rince and repeat!...a move set to rival Chris Beniot and Bret Hart combined.

Nice to see Super Cena single handidly job out the tag champs again. They should change their name to Simply Pointless.
I'd like to see him do the job and give a midcarder some credability (ala Rock vs The Hurricane or Austin vs RVD).

This whoissuicide.com thing is CRAZY. Orton is signing with TNA!?! And it says "wooo" also, so he must be bringing Flair with him! There's going to be a new Evolution, and only on Total Nonstop Action Wrestling!

Is HBK's wife retarded or drugged out? She even looked vacant before getting punched in the face.

BischoffRulz - try to sound a little informed before you comment. The rules for this Unforgiven nonsense are exactly the same as the Hardcore Battle Royal at Mania 2000, except there will (probably) be less plunder.

!! How annoying. I thought of the 'Championship Scramble' YEARS ago (not by that name...and also, it was inspired by those hardcore battle royals), and now that it's actually happening I just feel perplexed. Why is it only 20 minutes? Why isn't Jericho there? I really hope it's a swerve and nobody gets a pin, or Punk gets pinned with five seconds remaining, otherwise it could just turn into a precession for title wins just for the sake of having them.

Once again WWE proves there's a sucker born every minute. If it weren't for the suckers they wouldn't be on tv.

So what was the point of annouceing Shane and Steph had an annoucement when ol' Mike Adamle came out and made it for them. At least he had a clipbord so he wouldn't forget what the damn match was called.

And Daniel.

"The Championship Scramble AKA clusterfuck AKA retarded AKA This is why I prefer TNA."

Cause the reverse battle royal makes way more sense and is way cooler than this match. Forget you and your damn TNA.

Santino and Beth's acceptance speech was HILARIOUS. Everyone should go to wwe.com to check it out. As for the rest of the show, I've been a fan for more than 20 years, and I'll admit that rather than complain and say second-rate TNA is better with their reliance on gimmick matches. That's right, Darren, I'm talking to you! Let's face it, CM Punk doesn't have that champ aura that Cena, Batista, HHH, or Edge have. He may be your ROH darling, but he's only average looking with average mic skills. I fully expect him to be demoted to IC level after his World title run. Let's face it, he has NO credibility and we all wouldn't buy it if he beat Cena or Batista.

To the guy who said condescendingly that a Batista/Kane program only excites marks... what is the matter with you? You understand that these "marks" you refer to are the ones who make WWE money, right? Why would they cater to you? You're not spending money on anything, so hush your face.

Exactly & not only that but who's 2 say that wasn't just a way 2 incorporate Jericho into the World Title match for all those who say he's not even involved in the match. Instead of knocking everything why don't people wait & see. This match might be a way 2 get Batista the title so he can job it 2 Cena down the road (probably at Mania) without Punk losing but u know what else might happen. Punk might not lose it at all during the match. Maybe somebody makes a pin on someone who isn't Punk & holds it for most of the match & Punk pins them right at the very end 2 solidify himself as a maineventer or they may give it 2 Jericho 2 enhance his feud or.... u get the point by now. Stop jumping 2 conclusions.

It's like the Undertaker buried Edge because he set him on fire crap. That was 2 end the feud. Will it be a burial if Edge is back next week on SD with no burn marks? Will it be a burial if he's back 2 weeks from now with no burn marks or bandages? Will it be a burial if he got injured & they used that as a storyline reasoning for him being out? Will it be a burial if he ends up being the next challenger for the WWE Title? Was it truly a burial? We'll never know because we already jumped 2 the conclusion that he's buried. Stop whinning about crap before u have the answer! trust me it'll help ur right 2 wrong ratio out a lil.

"Nice to see Super Cena single handidly job out the tag champs again. They should change their name to Simply Pointless."

NOW THAT'S A BURIAL! Funny name but sadly true!

PEACE!

i cant believe no one commented on the jbk - noble squash match. i mean, wtf, jbl beat the daylight out of him the entire match, but the ref dq's the match after the 2 COUNT OF DOOM DANGERRRRROUSSS". so lame, wwe has the worst refs ever.

On behalf of all of us TNA fans we'd just like to say:

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

20 min championship scramble? What kind of crap is that? Wow, way to make your World Championship look like garbage, and what's worse is that joke Adamle couldn't even state the stipulations correctly.

Way to bury Carlito's little brother, guess he'll be jobbing out and sent to ECW soon enough.

For all of you marks that couldn't wait for Batista to turn heel after SS, I bet you feel like fools right now. I told EVERYONE that Batista and Cena would do the old "handshake of respect" after their match. Face it, Batista could come to your house, mutilate your dog and screw your mothers right in front of you and you would still mark like a fanboy the second that guitar riff went off in the arena. Vince owns you all and will tell you who to root for and you will like it!

Oh yeah, at least TNA allows their stars to go over in their hometown.

EPIC AVERAGENESS!

Paul Burchill gets berried by Batista but we get to see Katie Lea so that kind of evens out. Then we have Mickey James going Super Cena and getting beat to hell one moment and the next she's She Hulk. D'Lo won so that's good but too much averageness for my liking.

Note: I don't care if averageness is a word or not.

is it just me or does the championship scramble just sound like a match straight out of the mind of russo?

Posted By: paddy (Guest)  on August 19, 2008 at 09:45 AM

You're seriously a bunch of marks - or just plain stupid - if you think anything good ever happens to the hometown hero.

The writing was on the wall as soon as Punk put himself in that match. It wasn't even a clean finish, yet everyone is chanting "BERRIED~!"

Oh yeah. Losing to the second hottest heel in the company and one of the better workers in a non-title match with a screwjob ending. How awful.

Agree with GARY YEAR. Raw´s comment box has the worst kind of fans. They bitch but continue to watch. Which means they are complete idiots.
Dont know why, Raw isnt even the A-show anymore. Its SmackDown.

People complain about the Championship Scramble but will STILL watch the match. Dumb fans are so predictable.
Oh yeah, losing to Jericho in a non clean way really makes Punk looks weak.

Only highlight on Raw: The giant piece of spinach on Kane’s tooth while the camera was zoomed in for a whole five minutes.
I thought I was the only person who noticed that. lmao!

I'm a Chicagoan but had the sense not to go to a show I barely enjoy watching for free lately. Punk promised to deal with Jericho "Chicago style", yet brought no mustard, relish, onions, celery salt, or a pickle spear? Bogus. Seriously though, having the Cubs logo on his ring attire could have alienated half the audience, that was a ballsy move. As for the championship scramble, they would NEVER have done this with Trippy. I don't even like Punk (I pretty much can't stand him) but his reign is being treated like a Frankenstein experiment. They don't care if they undermine him because they have no faith in him long term anyway. This is like when a show is moved to a bad timeslot by execs who want to kill it off. It irritates me because when his reign ends and is deemed a failure he will have a built in excuse and will get another chance as champion. Figure out NOW what discriminating fans already know: CM Punk is a career midcarder, which is why his WORLD TITLE MATCH wasn't even billed as the main event at Summerslam.

So I go to wwe.com to see pictures of HBK's spaced-out wife and I don't see any, but I do see something about Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix Locking Horns and Locking Lips, so I click on it. What do I see at the bottom of the article...

... a quick rundown of Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa's relationship. Is it wrong for me to have geeked out reading it?

If Vince McMahon "gives the fans what they want", then why did Punk lose to Jericho? It's so lame of McMahon to "rib" wrestlers in their hometown by making them lose instead of actually giving fans what they want and letting their hometown boy win. Lame.

JJ - You're right, it was nice to see TNA put the title on Booker T when they just had a PPV in Houston...

And I agree that they could have made Punk look great tonight - give him the mic in his hometown and let him roll. Instead there's barely a mention of him until his match is announced, and then he jobs semi-clean in the main event. Cena gets to beat the tag champs clean, Batista gets to demolish Paul Burchill, and Punk loses?

well hopefully during the championship scramble kane wins so time during the 20 mins of the match so he can have another title reign in his history.I expect the match to have everyone win the title within the 20 min and have cm punk retain.i see cm punk holding it till survivor series and losing it to jericho in some type of screw type finish.hopefully orton goes to sd and takes the title away from preparation h.i hate when hes champ...
