411's ECW on Sci-Fi Report 9.02.08
Posted by Michael Bauer on 09.02.2008

Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.

In Memory of Walter "Killer" Kowalski

And we go right to the Dirt Sheet with The Miz and John Morrison. Morrison won 43 games of Parcheesi in a row. Miz says this Sunday is very important because The Miz will become the ECW Champion in his hometown of Baltimore. John says it is unfortunate that he didn't qualify for the scramble and that is totally bogus. They look at all the other contenders. They bring out Mark Henry first and it's no fake guy on a screen this time. Atlas hopes for no repeat of last time and Miz says they learned their lesson and won't make fun of him. Chavo comes out next and somebody is screwing with his music. Miz, Morrison, and Henry all laugh and it is pretty funny. Miz says he is embarrassed . Morrison asks for Kerwin in the truck to fix it. BURN! Chavo says he is excited to take back his title that Kane stole from him. Miz calls Chavo a baby for still crying for him. Finlay couldn't find a babysitter for Hornswoggle so they have two guys who act as his brothers. Everyone in the ring laughs at them making fun of Finlay until Finlay's music hits. Finlay smiles as he comes out with Hornswoggle. Finlay has Hornswoggle says hi to his uncles and has him kick Miz in the leg. John introduces Jeff… uh, Matt… Hardy, who Finlay reminds us all that he beat Morrison. Huge Hardy chant goes on as Matt says Bam and Tony are out to give support to their male partners. He tells Miz that he hung around Morrison because John made him look tough. Mark tells Matt to shut his mouth before he clears the whole ring out for he is the World's Strongest Champion. Matt tells Tony to get a good night of sleep as he will have to bail out Mark all night long. Miz gets between Matt and Mark as Morrison nails Matt with a microphone. The brawl starts as Tommy Dreamer and Evan Bourne come out to even the sides and we break to a commercial.

Backstage, Teddy Long comes out to break up the brawling between the two sides. Miz screams his show was ruined, but Teddy says it ruined when he opened his mouth. Teddy then makes and eight man tag for tonight with Miz, Morrison, Chavo, and Mark Henry taking on Finlay, Evan Bourne, Tommy Dreamer, and Matt Hardy.

Super Crazy vs. Gavin Spears

Pre done interview by Gavin says that he gets second chance to make a first impression. The bell rings and Gavin gets control of the arm. Super Crazy rolls out and locks in a unique leg lock. Gavin gets the ropes and hits a forearm and hits some more punches. Crazy blocks the turnbuckle smash and returns the favor. Gavin gets a two count after block Super Crazy's corner punches and throwing him to the mat. Gavin with knee strikes for another two count. Gavin locks in a sleeper hold and Crazy escapes with elbows. Gavin with a drop toe hold and a knee drop to the face gets a near fall. Striker says Gavin is getting frustrated as he locks in a side headlock. Crazy back to his feet and he punches out. Gavin with a knee, but the whip is reversed. Gavin with a sunset flip, but Crazy rolls through and hits a low dropkick. Crazy with a running dropkick. Gavin gets thrown into the corner and Crazy charges. Gavin backdrops Crazy to the ring apron and he hits a kick to the head. Crazy comes back in with a springboard moonsault and gets the three count.

Winner: Super Crazy

Ricky Ortiz vs. Ryan Braddock

Ricky Ortiz has the rally towels going in the city of the Terrible Towels. Poor Braddock gets no entrance. Guess we know what that means. The bell rings and Ryan gets a headlock and Ortiz powers out. Ryan hits a knee to the guts and clubs Ortiz in the back. Ryan with a shoulder block, but Ortiz wins the second collision. Ortiz hits a suplex for a two count. Ryan backs up into the corner and catches Ortiz and drops his face in the second turnbuckle. Ryan slams his knee into the back of Ortiz's head and stomps away. Knee to the shoulder gets a near fall for Ryan. Ryan with a sleeper hold, but he gets to his feet to just get dropped back down. Ryan hits a few knees to the face and goes back to the chinlock. Ortiz brought all the way down to the mat before rallying up with the towel rally and flips his way out. Ortiz with a right hand and a fury of diving forearms and dropkicks. Huge powerslam by Ortiz gets two. Diving shoulder tackle from the second turnbuckle by Ortiz. Ortiz signals for the finish and gets The Big O for the three count at 4:40.

Winner: Ricky Ortiz

The Raw Rebound takes up the entire time in between commercials as it is the never ending saga and history between Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho.

Back from the break and we go to the Republican National Convention. Josh Matthews is with Mickie James and Mr. Kennedy (Kennedy) and Kennedy is happy to first Kennedy on the Republican floor. Striker is definitely a Republican.

They go over the three Championship Scramble Matches for Unforgiven. No mention of anything else.

Matt Hardy, Tommy Dreamer, Finlay and Evan Bourne vs. The Miz, John Morrison, Chavo Guerrero and Mark Henry

If the Titles were awarded based on reactions, Matt Hardy would have more, longer title reigns than Triple H. He is in the ring as we head to a commercial.

We come back after Finlay and Dreamer have entered as Evan Bourne comes out. Chavo is first out for his team, along with Bam Neely. He is followed by Miz, then Morrison, and finally Mark Henry. Morrison looks to have a chip on his shoulder, like always. The bell rings as Matt Hardy and John Morrison start out. Matt gets the headlock and is whipped off the ropes. Matt hits a shoulder block before reversing a hip toss. Dreamer tagged in and he hits an elbow drop for a near fall. Finlay tagged in and hits a short arm clothesline, but gets backed into the wrong corner. Chavo tagged in and Finlay hits the reverse atomic drop and another clothesline for a two count. Finlay gets Chavo trapped in the ring apron and starts pounding. Bam comes over and Finlay uses Hornswoggle as a missile at Bam. We get cut short as Striker talks to a commercial at 2:25.

Back from the break at 6:05 and Finlay drops an elbow on Chavo. Bourne tagged in and he hits a dropkick for a two count. Again, Striker and Todd don't remember Knox getting a win over Bourne. Bourne backs Chavo in the corner, but Chavo reverses Bourne's moves into a backbreaker. Miz tagged in, but Bourne sweeps him and hits the standing moonsault. Miz drops Bourne on his chest and tags in Mark Henry. Henry steps on Bourne as he enters and press slams the kid. Miz tagged back in and gets a chinlock. As Bourne gets momentum, Miz backs him into the wrong corner and tags in Chavo. Chavo starts kicking away and gets a near fall. Morrison tagged in and he chucks Bourne to the floor. Morrison gets a cheap kick to the face over Bourne and rolls him in for a two count. Chin lock applied by Morrison, but Bourne escapes with a hurricarana. Morrison grabs Bourne to block the tag and brings in Chavo. Chavo gets dropped with the hurricarana and Dreamer is tagged in. Dreamer with a back body drop and a bulldog gets two. Dreamer gets distracted as Chavo hits a haymaker. Mark Henry tagged in and his starts mauling Dreamer with kicks and a headbutt. Chavo tagged back in and he goes to he neck vice. Dreamer hits a jaw breaker and tags in Hardy to a huge cheer. Hardy with a bodyslam on Chavo and a Yodel elbow to the head for a two count. Matt blocks a clothesline and hits the Side Effect for two. Chavo hits a Northern Lights suplex out of nowhere and tags in Mark Henry. Henry slams Matt but misses the splash. Bourne gets tagged in and he hits the shooting star press!!! Tommy Dreamer heads up top and hits a Frog Splash. Finlay tagged in and he gets a sitting splash. Matt Hardy tagged back in and he hits the Twist of Fate for the three count at 14:40. The crowd is going bonkers!!

Winners: Matt Hardy, Tommy Dreamer, Finlay and Evan Bourne

Gavin you need to get down on your knees and start sucking any cocks in your immediate vicinity. Your really talented, good on the mic, and have all the abilities to be a great wrestler, the only problem is no one really likes you for no real given reason. You just lost to Super Crazy. Maybe if you bow at Taker's feet and tell him how cool all of his tats are, he'll order creative to at least let you beat super crazy. Welcome to politics! TNA is look like a decent alternative at this point...

One gimmick match and stiffs does not make a great show! The main event was OK but couldn't develop with all the other BS!

Hey Miz is from Cleveland. Hence the cheap heel heat since they were in Pittsburgh. And we all know the best rivarly in football is Steelers vs. Browns.

HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!

Dirt Sheet FTW!

At what point did a Running Splash from a guy that weighs 180lbs become a legit finisher?

Gavin Spears is a hottie.

ECW continues to provide better entertainment on w week to week basis than TNA. And it has 3 minutes less wrestling on a one hour show, than TNA does in 2!

Watching tonight's episode of ecw was as painful as reading a hubbard original.

Poor Spears. Too bad Pat Patterson isn't running things anymore. Supercrazy? Seriously?

Why doesnt Ortiz use the emerald fusion (not a powerslam by the way), it is way better than that stupid dolphin jump splash.

I think that happened back in the 70s or 80s there Jeff.

what was the gimmick match? I didn't see a pole or 3 level structure....

No, he won 43 games of Parchesi in a row against Stephen Hawking.

Good taping with solid action, a good main event and a excited crowd. everybody got a good pop.

One thing I get a kick out of is Matt Striker. Well mostly when he tries to be an intellectual and then screws it up. (Matt Hardy hit "The blow of fat" on Mark Henry?)

Not a bad show at all.

When they played the Chavo music I was laughing so hard. Loved the Kerwin burn too, glad I'm not the only one who got that.

Angry Bear, you give Hubbard too much credit.

Quite an enjoyable show, though Striker's Republican-thumping is getting annoying...not so much that he's doing it, but the fact that Vince, being a card carrying Republican himself, probably gets a kick out of it. If anyone did that for the other side on WWE televison, he'd be out on his ass and replaced by Funaki before the commercial break ended.

Non-partisan, my ass.

Republican bullshit on RAW.
Repuplican bullshit on ECW.

Getting annoyed and tired of that. Guess I'll open the tube only to watch Santino's matches.

Excellent main event - I like ecw!

The main event was really good here. The ending really went up a gear but none of the heels got any of their finishers in there. But when Evan goes AirBourne, can you really complain? No. Awesome match. Everyone looked great and it's perfect selling for the ECW Scramble match.
