Posted by Larry Csonka on 10.02.2008

TNA Impact Begins…NOW!
-We get a video package from last week.

-Tenay and West welcome us to the show and run down the card for the show.

Angelina Love w/Velvet Sky and Cute Kip vs. ODB

Love jumps ODB at the bell and takes control with mounted rights. Snap mare and Love slams ODB's head to the mat. Off the ropes and ODB gets a shoulder block. Clothesline follows and Kip and Sky try to distract her, which allows Love to toss her to the floor. Sky lays the boots to her as Kip distracts the referee. Love slams her to the apron and rolls her back in. Love follows and covers for 2. Love and Kip distract the ref, Sky chokes out ODB and then Love picks up ODB by the hair and slams her down. Love stands over her, ODB kicks her in the ass and then chops away at her. Corner splash by ODB, sack of shit slam follows and then ODB kips up, rusty trombone celebration follows. Sky takes a drink from the flask, Love tosses ODB away, Sky spits it into her face and Love gets the flatliner for the victory.

Winner: Angelina Love @ 4:00 via pin
  • It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to write home about either. They wanted to tell a story of ODB losing to the numbers game and accomplished that.
    RATING: *

-JB is with Jeff Jarrett and they discuss Angle's interview in the UK Sun. Jarrett says he will address it right now. He leaves to go to the ring.

-ODB complains to Brooks about what happened. Brooks says she can have a tag match later tonight if she finds a partner. But she cannot have Kong, Roxxi or Wilde. ODB slaps Brooks on the ass, then the tits, and Brooks says her parents must be proud.

-We get a video package for Double J.

    ~DOUBLE J SPEAKS~
Jarrett says that some people are saying that he will regret facing Angle at Bound for Glory since he hasn't been in the ring in so long. Those people don't know Jeff Jarrett. His whole career his back has been against the wall, when he started as a skinny punk kid, he had the heart, but they said he was too small to make it. Over 6-years ago people called him crazy when he started TNA. Hundred's have gone in the grave battling the machine up north. Those people didn't know Jeff Jarrett. TNA is stronger then ever today. No one person will ever take down TNA. Angle was supposed to be promoting TNA, but instead he made negative comments about the company, aired dirty laundry. Well he can play at that game as well. Jarrett reads some parts from the interview. "Olympic Kurt Hero is considering options when his contract ends next year." Jarrett continues to read, "Vince is the most intelligent and successful promoter of all time. We have a respect, we know how good each other is, and no one can break that bond, not even Jeff Jarrett. It is like a father/son bond." Now that you know we have a match, you don't want to be here anymore. You said we freed you from that living hell. 2-years ago you did an interview, 2-years ago, but I didn't air it, because I wanted to protect you and TNA. Well I changed my mind. Check the screen and let's watch the interview. The interview shows Angle discussing him being pissed and wanting to beat Vince, he has his head up his ass and he dared him to strike him. "Vince is a piece of crap. I will Knock Vince on his ass, watch what I do in TNA Vince, you're dead to me. You will be kissing my ass two-years from now." Ouch. Jarrett says he just broke the bond. At Bound for Glory, Jarrett will beat his ass so bad, even Pappa Vince won't take you back!

-JB catches up with Angle, and tells him about the interview Jeff just showed. Angle is OFFENDED and wants to rip off Jarrett's head. JB also says Cornette wants to see him right now.

Monster's Ball Qualifying Match: Motor City Machineguns (Sabin and Shelley) vs. LAX (Hernandez y Homicide)

Alex and Cide to begin. Counters, off the ropes and a belly to back suplex by Cide. Tag to Cide, dump suplex by Hernandez and a clothesline by Cide gets a cover for 2. Bear hug by Hernandez, escape by Alex and a tag to Sabin. A shoulder block by Hernandez and then another. Sabin with a kick to Hernandez, rolls up the body of Hernandez for a RANA but eats a back breaker, cover for 2. Stalling suplex stopped by the Guns, they try a double suplex but Hernandez suplexes them both. Tag to Cide, corkscrew elbow and a cover for 2. Alex with a kick to Cide, dropkick by Sabin and Cide to the floor. Suicide dive by Sabin and he wipes out Cide. Back in and a tag to Alex, corner attack by the Guns and then a double basement dropkick and a cover for 2 by Alex. Tag back to Sabin, Alex knocks Hernandez to the floor but Cide slams the Guns together. Tag to Hernandez, backdrop to Sabin. Overhead toss to Alex. Press slam on Sabin is countered, but Hernandez gets a cracker jack for 2 as Alex makes the save. Forearms by Alex, Hernandez then eats an Enziguri by Sabin. Cide in and then a double-team DDT/Flatliner on LAX gets 2. Sidekick by Alex, sliced bread countered and Cide gets a Gringo Cutter. Cide and Alex to the floor, Sabin superkicks Hernandez and then springboards in, caught, SIT OUT MEX BOMB and that is all.

Winners: LAX @ 6:00 via pin
  • I thought Monster's Ball was an invitational, so why are we having a qualifying match? The match was "fine," but it just feels as if they were going through the motions out there. No sizzle. I figure that the Guns will get tossed into the Steel Asylum Match.
    RATING: **

-Alex begs off and says shit is cool and then when LAX turns their backs, he flips them off. DAMN YOU ALEX SHELLEY!

-We get a rough cuts segment on Roxxi, specifically when she got her head shaved.

-JB is in Cornette's office with Angle. Cornette says the comments were not good. Angle is a big money ball player, and because of that he if fined $25,000. Angle says he will stick the $25,000 up Jarrett's ass.

-We get a video package for Suicide.

X-Division Title Match: Sheik Abdul Bashir © vs. Jimmy Rave w/Hemme and Rock vs. Eric Young

Bashir and Rave attack Young to begin, and then Rave gets tossed to the steel post. A whip to the corner, float over by Young, but Bashir with a back suplex for 2. Chin lock by Bashir, Young works to get to his feet and escapes, tosses Bashir to the floor but Rave is back in with the tilt a whirl into the arm bar. Young out, jawbreaker on rave, Bashir back in and they all brawl. Clothesline by Young, a slam to Bashir and a cover for 2. Rave to the floor, boot by Young to Bashir and then a slam. Young up top, MISSES the moonsault. Bashir gets the WMD, and demands Sewell count, and he does and that is all.

Winner: Sheik Abdul Bashir @ 3:00 via pin
  • It was a 3-minute match, it was fine for the time they got but they really need to dedicate more time to a title match because it came off way to rushed.
    RATING: *½

-After the match Bashir demands that Sewell raise his hand, he does and Bashir makes him flinch with a fake punch. That's it. Bashir owes him two for flinching, at least that's how it worked when I was in high school. But that was 13-years ago, so adjusting for inflation, that would be like, 2.75 punches.

-JB is with Lethal, Cage and AJ. Cage says it is like this, ask Machismo, give him the spotlight. Lethal says thanks for letting him run with the big dogs. He may have lost to Booker, but he realized he took Booker to the limits, he learned from their match, and tonight this kid takes out a legend, OHHH YEAH! AJ then asks if he and Cage are cool, Cage says he is the champ, and that he is always cool.

Team 3D and Booker T w/Sharmell and Briefcase vs. Black Machismo, AJ Styles and Christian Cage

Machismo and Booker to begin, they trade shots, off the ropes and a hip toss, cartwheel and basement dropkick by Machismo gets 2. Rights and a back elbow by Booker, tag to Ray and he just clubs away at Machismo. We'll head to a commercial @ 1:30.

Back from commercial @ 5:30, Cage with chops to Booker, tag to AJ and he delivers rights to Booker. Corner clothesline, tag to Machismo and he gets a top rope ax smash. Chops by Machismo, knee by Booker and Machismo tries to fight off 3D, but they pull him down and crotch him on the steel post. Sucks to be him. Superkick by Booker and a cover gets 2. Tag to Devon, head butt to Machismo and then just beats him down. Off the ropes and a spinning back elbow connects, cover again for 2. Devon clamps on the chin lock, Machismo tries to fight out, he gets to his feet and elbows out. Devon slams him down, tag back to Ray and he gets elbows to the top of the head of Machismo. Elbow drop to the balls as the ref was distracted, tag to Devon and after a back elbow Machismo is able to get a leg lariat, BOTH men are down. Tag to Cage and Ray, Cage on fire with rights. Nails Devon, eats a big boot and then off the ropes and a double clothesline by Cage. He avoids a corner splash, Ray on the 2nd rope, Cage up with him and a RANA follows! 1…2…NO! Devon and AJ in and to the floor they go. HUGE backdrop on Cage, and then on Machismo! Ray then gets one on AJ, but then AJ and Machismo backdrop Ray, Cage up top and gets a big cross body for 2. Booker nails Machismo with the briefcase, AJ wipes out Devon with a plancha. Cage rolls up Booker, Ray distracts the ref, AJ in and but we get miscommunication, AJ hits Cage with the superman forearm after Ray moves, and Booker pins Cage.

Winners: Team 3D and Booker T @ 12:00 via pin
  • This had more energy than anything else on the show, and was a fun little match. The end plays perfectly into the angle they have been building with AJ, Cage and Booker, so all is well.
    RATING: **½

-After the match AJ helps up Cage, AJ wants a hug but Cage refuses. They argue a bit; damn, I thought those crazy kids would make it.

-JB is with Angle, who is trying to break into Jarrett's office. Angle is pissed and says he will stick the money up Jarrett's ass. He really wants to stick something in Jarrett's ass. Not gay at all.

-Tenay met with Joe and Sting earlier today. Sting says on 2001 WCW ended, so when he got a call from Jarrett, he came back because he thought these wrestlers would take wrestling into the future. He was wrong. Joe asks why he is so concerned, since he has supposedly done everything he wanted too. Because he is afraid of the future. Sting says that Joe and AJ shouldn't so what they have to Angle and Booker, but Joe says that he is just doing what they did to him. Joe then says Sting is never there for the fans, but Sting says he hasn't been coasting. Joe respects what he WAS, Joe just handle things a bit differently. Sting then says talking is over, it is time to walk the aisle. Joe says he will walk it, but they will be rolling Sting out.

-Lauren is with Morgan and Abyss. Abyss says the asylum is for crazy people, does he look crazy? He rambles on, and Morgan says Abyss just has to wrestle, Morgan will take care of the weapons. Morgan says that that they are unstoppable, and they are the future of tag team wrestling. Size does matter. Morgan pump up Abyss and that's that.

    ~BEER MONEY SPEAKS~
BEER MONEY comes to the ring! Storm has a BEER HOLSTER around his tag title belt! Roode is sporting a sweet hat as well. He says Beer Money along with Jackie's boobs are the tag team champions, and they are alive and doing well, thanks for asking. But some people are not doing so well. The little wench Salinas, who had a "talk" with Jackie, and no one has heard from her since. And then there is Hector Guerrero, who has been forced back to the announce booth. That's where his old Latino ass belongs. It's nice to see you Hector, not! Beer Money has an open invitation for ANY TAG TEAM IN THE WORLD from anywhere! Team 3D makes their way out, and before they can talk, Abyss and Morgan make their way out as well. LAX is now out, and says they only have a beef with Beer Money. Cornette is now out and says before this blows up like a Meth Lab, Beer Money better not let their alligator mouth's overload their humming bird asses. Tremendous, Cornette then makes Monster's Ball a 4-way Tag Team Title match. Cornette says he doesn't know who, but he figures that someone will beat Beer Money.

-ODB says she has found a partner, look behind you and meet her. It's Rhaka Khan.

The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) w/Cute Kip vs. ODB and Rhaka Khan

Sky and ODB to begin. Sky tries to attack from behind, but she gets beat down for her efforts. Tag to Khan and Sky runs to the floor. Kip primps her hair, Khan grabs both of them by the hair, drags them in and then clotheslines them down. They roll to the floor, Khan licks herself and I think ODB approves. Kip is in, and he is just as tall as her. Sky tries to sneak in, Khan beats her down. Tag to ODB, off the ropes and a reversal, Love trips up ODB and that allows Sky to take control. Rights from Sky, tag to Love and they get the double team elbow drop. Love tries to rip off ODB's nose and bites her! YOU DO NOT KNOW WHERE SHE HAS BEEN! Tag back to Sky, kicks to ODB and then a cover for 2. Sky mounts her, yes thank you, and then tags in Love again. Double team boots to ODB, off the ropes and ODB fights back, boot, clothesline and then she slaps her own ass and tags in Khan. Khan with rights and sloppy kicks, she's a house of mild. She does the standing split leg drop dealy that Melina uses, but does it very badly and gets the win.

Winners: ODB and Rhaka Khan @ 5:00 via pin
  • Wow, that sucked.
    RATING: DUD

-Kip and the beautiful People attack after the match, Rhino is out to make the save. He clears the ring and that is that.

    ~FOLEY…~
Foley is sporting the leather vest, no flannel. Crowd loves Foley. It's an honor for him to stand in the same ring, where a few short minutes ago CUTE KIP just stood, thank you! This is a huge night for him, one of the biggest in his career, and he wants to thank us all in the Impact Zone and at home. Especially all of those that just tuned in from the vice presidential debate. He thanks SPIKE TV, and wants to thank Jeff Jarrett for having the faith to bring him here, but to refer to him as the greatest acquisition in TNA History. He also wants to thank someone special, because the moment wouldn't be possible without him. Vince McMahon. He thanks Vince for the opportunities and for making the decision to leave WWE an easy one.

Kurt Angle breaks this up and makes his way to the ring. Foley says he didn't even get a chance to say thanks but no thanks on the bridge to nowhere. Angle is sorry to bust this up, but JJ pissed him off. He embarrassed him by showing a 2-year old interview and fine him $25,000. JJ said Foley was the greatest acquisition in TNA history, well, JJ is full of shit and so are all the fans that buy into the crap. 2-weeks ago JJ said that Angle lost everything, and he is right, he did lose everything. JJ said he lost the title, he's right. His gold medal, he's right. He lost his wife, well Jeff, I am not the only one to lose his wife. As far as Foley is concerned, what did he ever do? This is Angle's ring, he carried the company, alone for 2-years. Foley says he will not listen to Angle say he carried the company. How dare he diminish the accomplishments of Joe and AJ. Foley knows who was doing the heaviest lifting. The main reason Foley is here. He didn't want to hear a millionaire say "SAY IT, SAY IT, SAY IT DAMNIT" every week. He got to call great matches, he saw HBK vs. Jericho, Edge vs. Taker, even HHH and Cena. And then he got to thinking about Angle, but not only had he tore the house down with all of those guys, but you defeated them at all. Maybe JJ was wrong about Angle and him, Angle was the greatest acquisition to TNA. Hell, you may even be the best performer ever in wrestler. But I THINK you are, but I do NOT know. I need to be that close to the action once again to see if it is true. Angle ask if he will replace West, go ahead, he's replaceable. Foley says he didn't come to take his place, no Kurt, he will figure it out, but he will need to be a bit closer, next to the action. Angle asks if Foley wants to be in his corner for the PPV, and Foley says no, at Bound for Glory, he will be granted the power to be the special enforcer in the Angle vs. JJ match. Kurt, read my lips, it's true, it's damn true!

Terrible Impact and was a prefect example as to how WWE is better than TNA

u gotta love how foley pipped that wwe wrestlers are some of the best in the world and all he could mention were joe, styles and angle...plus wasn't it a riot to see smackdown ads on spike

yeah rhaka khan matches tend to suck
they need to unnmask melissa an turn her face shes one of the best womens wrestlers in the world and she could help fill the void left by kim leaving

LMAO @ TNA...Vince and company were name dropped more than members of its own roster...

Single greatest 3 lines in a TNA report ever.

Also fuck these *worked shoots* with seemingly everyone in the company, WE DONT CARE.

This was not any better than I thought it'd be when I read the spolers. Firstly, I was hoping that they'd edit Angle's comment about JJ's wife because it's completely out of line, regardless of if JJ approved it or not. And secondly, why was TNA so damn intent on mentioning the WWE as many times as they possibly could tonight. It was ridiculous. They should not even be thinking of them, just another example to support the claim that TNA is trying to be the WWE, when they shouldn't be trying to do that.

to the morons who commented in the TNA tapings spoilers report, saying "oh wait till the show, guys....that comment about jarrett's wife wont be aired"

    well, fuck you and TNA

    they have crossed the line

good show, women's matches weren't memorable at all, x-div. title match was short and everything else was good.
To that guy above me, mick was just stating the guys who he saw have great matches from the annnouce booth, doesn't mean that he thinks that the wwe wrestlers are greater than tna's.

I hate to say it. I hate to see the term, so...so much. But only two words describe Mick Foley in TNA...

    EPIC FAIL.

    I feel so dirty.

I absoutely love when TNA has to use WWE to get its product any kind of pop. I just love that they have to use WWE and Vince McMahon, naming them by name multiple times, to feel like they are accomplishing something.

I think the main problem with Rhaka Khan's finisher is that her legs are to damn long to make it look decent!!
they should make her finisher like a roundhouse kick or a scissors kick

Posted By: Ryan (Guest)  on October 03, 2008 at 12:47 AM

WOW, I turned into the last 20 minutes of the show tonight, just because, and was astonished to see and hear all the PRO WWE spots. I mean, you mention all of those guys and then just quietly say that Angle has beaten them all. Did you hear the cheers? WWE Legal team is already on top of all these trademarked names.
I am not a follower of TNA, when I do tune in, it usually to see the low-mid card guys that are trying to stay employed...then I see Mick Foley and Captain Kurt, and what do we get...WWE name drops and the stupidest thing I have heard in awhile, Kurt's comment about JJ's wife was poor taste. There is a line in wrestling, that crossed it. I do not care if JJ gave it the OK, it was wrong. WWE has crossed the line a few times, they lose fans with crap like that. They are an established company, they can survive without some fans, TNA is not WWE, they cannot pull that crap and expect fans to take them seriously or watch their "Russo-reffic" stories.

wwe is a bigger company it doesn't make them better than anyone in fact when it comes to actual wrestling wwe is probably the worst
I liked all of foleys promo except for the wwe name dropping
and I found the say it damnit very funny but it seemed people in the crowd didn't get it
all in all pretty good episode this week it was better than this weeks raw and ecw
But I was shocked micks debut and no cheap pop?

I loved how the main event interview involved a crap load of vince references, as well as mentioning WWE wrestlers. I bet Impact gets their familiar 1.0 rating as always.

Another great, great Impact, that is three in a row. Who cares about them dropping WWE names? It all fit the story to perfection. Kurt did come angrily from the WWE. Mick did come angrily from the WWE. Now Kurt is angry with Jeff Jarrett and Jeff Jarrett is angry with Kurt so Mick is here to resolve it.

Where were you guys when Booker T was out there talking about being the 5 time WCW Champion? He name dropped WCW every time he took the mic. It established his history, told people who he was. You guys seem to forget that Vince McMahon used to run skits about WCW talent. Eric Bischoff used to talk about WWF talent on Nitro and give away results.

Its part of wrestling. TNA is telling folks that they are here to stay and that they arent scared of the WWF. You want them to ignore their pasts? You want Mick Foley to ignore his past? That past is why his present in TNA is so important.

    Great show.

The idea of these guys struggling over who gets to direct the course of the company's future is a compelling one, mostly because the wrestlers involved are compelling--Angle, Joe, Sting, Foley, Booker, AJ, Jarrett and Christian have a lot more talent and credibility than when Russo tried this shit in WCW. Back then it was New Blood(mostly guys who didn't deserve a shot at the main event) and The Millionaires' Club(mostly legends who were too far past their primes), and it bombed for too many reasons for

The Knockouts continue to spiral, as the Divas take control lol. Seriously, the Knockouts havent been good imo since March, because after that, it became, let's get every girl on PPV that we can, even if it means doing to them what we've done to the men by giving them stupid stipulations. Gail Kim and Scott D'Amore must have had a huge effect on them because when they left, so did the goodness. Velvet Sky is crap. She doesn't even try anymore because she knows TNA wont release her. Take a look at her early TNA stuff pre BP. She atleast TRIED and came off as decent. Ever since she got this godly gimmick and knows without Her, Love, and Kong, the division wouldn't be there, she's completely given up trying and almost puposely trying to look bad. Love's back must be hurting from having to carry her so much. If TNA were smart, they'd either A) If Taylor wins at BFG, Turn Traci Heel and have a feud of Original vs. New Breed. B) If Kong wins, have Saeed turn on her, unmasking to be Melissa and saying she wasn't there to help when Roxxi attacked, so now it's time she attack. C) Do not give the title to Roxxi, your now most generic worker in the entire division. I quite enjoyed the Beer Money segment though. I love those 2 and they are phenomenal champs.

yeah, and everybody thought Jarrett would adress Angles comments about the gimmick matches. pussy.

    and Foley. he said nothing.

why can't these guys just go away?

    and Angle about Jarretts wife...
Jarrett told Angle, he lost HIS wife - he had it coming (even if Jarrett agreed, AND HE DID). it's like how you would respond in real life to a dumbass comment like that.
who doesn't like it, should go and find out if Paul Bearer really is the father of Kane, who set some shit on fire in may or what the fuck ever.

I thought the interaction between foley and angle was some of the best stuff I have seen for a while. Hopefully with these two veterans doing what they do best will raise the bar for the rest of the them.
I do agree angle's mention of jj's wife was low, but not nearly as low as kane having sex with a corpse or vince's aborted incest angle.

i don't get all u people getting so worked up over angle's line about jarret's wife. if jarret was ok with it then why the fuck do you care. its not your wife, its not your company.

people its a fucking tv show, not real life, the words and actions of the ACTORS don't reflect the actor's actual opinions so get the fuck over yourselves. getting offended over soemthing that doesn't involve you is the most sickeningly self righteous act out there. get the fuck over yourselves.

grow up enjoy the show and if your so consumed with yourself that you feel the need to get offended over shit that has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU then go live under a rock where nothing can reach you and none of us have to listen to you bitch.

I just love how Mick mentioned like 6 great WWE wrestlers, but he could only think of 2 good TNA ones. Classic.

i thinks its been long enough to get over jj's wife already. you know he is plowing angie love and velvet sky (why else would they get so much tv time?) and the "they crossed the line" comments are comical. your parents know your up so late?

all in all, not the greatest episode of impact, but at least we had 'its always sunny in philadelphia' to flip to.

I love it when TNA talks about WWE because it shows, their not living in a box and thinking that their the only game in town. Angle's commet may be tasteless but it bulids the feud along and makes it DAHM REAL feeling. I will be ording BFG for this match.

Good comment Miles. Apparently a lot of these morons still think that we're in an era of kayfabe. Newsflash: Kayfabe's been dead since the MSG incident!

Whether you all like it or not, what these guys are doing is exactly what TNA needs to do, use the more established names to bring in the casual fan. Then they transition into the younger guys taking over, but that won't happen overnight.

Although I didn't like how they kept the JJ's wife comment, that wasn't nearly as bad as how Vince whored out Eddie Guerrero's name just to get a cheap reaction (remember Orton's "Eddie's in hell" comment).

That aside, I loved how they built up the tag team title match as well as the emotion between JJ and Angle. One more week to BFG, can't wait!

Good God. I tried watching this for the first time in a long while last night. It was sooo awful. Terrible gimmicks, awful commentary, and they've still got that Borash guy doing backstage stuff. Him, Don West, and Mike Tenay should be fired out of a cannon directly into a brick wall. I wanted to watch it because of Mick Foley's debut, and because I remain a big fan of Kurt Angle and Jim Cornette despite their respective insanity.

I couldn't do it though, by the time the first hour was winding down I was ready to go emo and start cutting. TNA is awful, awful, awful. The one good thing about the show? It made me remember that Sunny was back with new episodes and I changed it just in time for the beginning of Mac and Charlie Die. Thank you TNA, thanks for being so incredibly, astonishingly, mindbendingly, psyche-scarringly horrible.

Is there anyoen else in the world who can rock a sweatsuit, leather vest with tassles, and Timberlands (or knockoffs)?

That said, there are more guys in TNA than Joe and AJ, but that is all anyone ever mentions. How about LAX or MCMG, or Jay Lethal, and this story would be perfect if Daniels and Kaz were here.

Also, when Sting starts talking about respect and how Tully and Arn and Ric taught him and how horrible it is that Joe would attack Angle and Booker, are we as wrestling fans supposed to forget that Arn, Ric & Tully broke Dusty's leg? Or how about when Tully tried to gouge out Magnum TA's eye with a broken chair leg? How about when Arn, Ole and Ric beat you down for wanting a shot at Ric's world title? I guess the argument can be made that Sting is overlooking all of that which is what is making him dick. But, it would be much more helpful is Joe pointed some of this out.

Foley is God, there is little doubt and his mic skills solidify that claim. However TNA "aquiring" him is not a of a big deal as they make it seem. Foley has left WWE a few times, always to return just in time to sell a book. When TNA pisses him off he'll leave them too, Foley is pretty good at the whole "take my ball and go home thing".

Plus this is just yet another reminder that TNA is comprised almost entirely of WWE rejects, rip offs, has-beens and cast-offs.

Before you get on tna for name dropping notice that they are not the only company who has done it before. There's nothing wrong with saying vince mcmahon on tna television, it's not like they were doing a parody of him for goodness sake. Everything that they said about him was true, they acknowledged how great he was and they also acknowledged the things that they had against him. What's so bad about mick foley talking about the great matches that he's called? Who cares if he mentioned those guys and just mentioned aj and joe? Aj and Joe are the top 2 young stars in tna and he was saying that they along with others were the big reason why tna is still going steady, not just kurt angle.

Can someone explain to me why mentioning WWE is so bad?? I mean they could have given them less props than they did, but isnt that more realistic, to recognize them. Dont you remember the 80's WWF when they acted like there was no other wrestling in the world? I HATED that.

There is NO such thing as a "line in pro-wrestling".

If there were, NONE of us with ANY morals would've continued watching after "Kane" (HHH) raped a CORPSE on LIVE TV.....that's ok....but taking a "shoot comment" on Double J's wife is against everything the IWC is for?

Give me a break. Quit bitching about story lines crossing lines, TNA sucking, or WWE being lame. It's wrestling, take it for what it's worth. Grow the hell up, at least ACT like smarks on here, for christ sakes, if you read the boards, you know nearly as much as what's going on the the wrestling world as those that live it.

Larry, I really hope that you give all these idiots a good dose of knowledge after you read these comments, if you even do anymore, seeing as how ignorant they've become.

Too bad Gail Kim left. Impact has not been the same and will never be as good as when she was there to add saneness to the Knockouts. I would love to see Gail Kim come back but not after seeing recent Impacts. Stay where you are Gail ... far, far away from TNA Wrestling and Impact.

Why would you want to remind your fans about how good the other product can be?
They should want the fans to be talking about THEIR in ring action, THEIR wrestlers, THEIR angles....not continuously mentioning WWE and it's owner. How does it sell TNA PPV's or events? How does it make TNA look anything but small time?

As for the line about Jarrett's wife, and people trying to justify it or explain it by mentioning WWE's use of Eddie's name - neither situation was right or in good taste.
I will say though, that Eddie being mentioned is somewhat justifiable by his being involved in storylines etc. so heavily. Jarrett's wife has never been involved on-screen, always off. I think something like that is in very poor taste, and Jarrett should be ashamed for allowing his wife's memory to be used in an angle to make money.

The WWE got a lot of shit for using Eddie's name, mentioning Jarrett's wife in this way is just as bad considering her non-involvement in the business. Double standards by TNA apologists??

As for Foley......fuck him! He needs to grow the fuck up a little...
"The main reason Foley is here. He didn't want to hear a millionaire say "SAY IT, SAY IT, SAY IT DAMNIT" every week."
What a fucking prima-donna Foley has become, pathetic!

How dare Mick Foley say the "Great" Triple H, while mentioning the WWE, so did Jarrett. TNA should stop talking about WWE McMahonagement!

"Where were you guys when Booker T was out there talking about being the 5 time WCW Champion? He name dropped WCW every time he took the mic. It established his history, told people who he was. You guys seem to forget that Vince McMahon used to run skits about WCW talent. Eric Bischoff used to talk about WWF talent on Nitro and give away results."

The difference being: When Booker T mentioned his WCW title reigns, Vince McMahon ALREADY OWNED WCW. There was no threat there, so he didn't care.

When Vince and Bischoff used to take shots at each other, they were both at the top of the mountain and slugging it out for ratings routinely. They both had nearly equal name recognition for their repsective companies. TNA doesn't have this luxury, so each time someone mentions Vince McMahon, WWE, or any talent thereof on Impact, it's a reminder that WWE exists, and in fact, exists on a level miles above them. WWE does the smart thing and refuses to acknowledge that TNA exists at all, whatsoever (the closest I've seen so far is Paul Heyman's "six sided ring" comment on Smackdown before ONS 06) because it's a way of conditioning the audience that WWE is the only game in town.

TNA cannot afford to keep giving WWE and it's wrestler's free publicity. If it were drawing competitive ratings, maybe, but now? Not even close.

I thank TNA. I was on the fence about buying No Mercy, but after being reminded of how good people like Undertaker and Chris Jericho are and how Vince is a genius (that's what Angle said and Jarrett repeated), I will be buying the show. I won't be buying BFG, but TNA really got me interested in checking out more WWE shows.

@BJC: Giving WWE free publicity? You're assuming that there's any wrestling fan in the world that doesn't watch WWE, at least on a once-in-a-while basis. TNA isn't giving WWE free publicity in the same way that Apple isn't giving Microsoft free publicity whenever they mention Windows in their "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads -- everybody already knows about the big guy, so the little guy namedropping them isn't going to give them anything they don't already have.

Foley and Angle have a shared history "up north", so why not let them play off of that? After all, their history in WWE is what got them hired in the first place, and how fans know them.

@dennett316: If you had a job where your boss spent your entire shift looking over your shoulder and screaming in your ear, and you were given the option to leave, wouldn't you? I sure as hell would.

When you grow up and actually join the real world, you'll realize that, while every job is a game of give and take, with some you end up giving way more than you should. Leaving those toxic jobs isn't "disloyalty" or "being a prima donna", it's being smart and preserving your sanity. Knowing what I know about how Vince treats the WWE commentators, I praise JR, Cole, and all the rest of them for being able to deal with it night in and night out, but I don't blame Foley for deciding he doesn't need that crap. Because, let's face it, he's right; he is a legend in the wrestling business and he really doesn't need it. He can write his own ticket wherever he goes.

Take it from someone who spent three years in a shitty job out of a misguided sense of loyalty and fear of not being able to do better elsewhere -- Foley made the right damn decision.
