Wacky TNA Title of the Week: Three days to glory…
TNA Impact Begins…NOW!
-JB is with JJ. JJ says he needs to be ready, he hasn't wrestled in two-years while Angle wrestles regularly. He did what he had to do, it is personal now, and he will leave it all in the ring at Bound for Glory. He has Angle's gold medal and says he has big plans for it.
-We get a video package from last week.
-Tenay and West welcome us to the show and run down the card for the show.
~Captain Charisma Speaks~
He says he keeps hearing that he has to pick a side between the young starts and the established stars. He's the champ, and he'll pick a side when he wants to pick a side. Maybe he doesn't want to or need to pick a side.
Booker T, Sharmell and the Briefcase come to the ring. The Briefcase doesn't have much to say, but Booker is here to reason with Cage. He doesn't want to cause trouble because they go way back, and they have had many battles. They are from the same school so to speak. Cage took AJ to another level and made him who he is today. But AJ wants the spotlight all to himself.
This of course brings out AJ Styles. AJ says that Booker is trying to cause trouble. AJ thought Christian was the master manipulator, but now Booker is pulling the strings like a puppet. AJ says this is not about respect, but Booker's spotlight. AJ refuses to let Booker speak and tells him to shut up and makes fun of his accent. Booker says that AJ lacks respect, too much bass in the voice. Booker says AJ doesn't know who he is messing with, and AJ replies by calling Booker washed up.
And now Jim Cornette comes to the ring, he tells them to pipe down and he has heard all of the insults. The problem is that no one is backing them up. Tonight, Booker will face AJ Styles. Cornette mocks Booker's accent as well, and says Cage looks left out. So he will make Cage the special referee. Cornette says it will go down and they will settle things tonight.
-JB was with Sting earlier today, and they talk Bound for Glory. Sting says enough has been said, and the match with Joe will be his biggest match ever, of his life. It isn't just about the title, the glory or applause. His reputation in on the line as the world watches. He is representing people all over that have been disrespected. JB asks what happens if he loses, and Sting says that it is NOT an option.
No DQ Match: Rhino w/The Beautiful People vs. Cute Kip
Rhino attacks Kip on the floor and the bell rings. They brawl around the ring, and Rhino grabs a table. Kip stops that, and then slams Rhino to the barrier. Rhino battles back, slams Kip to the steps and then into the ring we go. Kip lays the boots to Rhino and then locks in the chinlock. Rhino escapes, a knee by Kip and then Sky chokes out Rhino as Kip distracts the ref. Knee to the head by Kip, and back to a chinlock. Rhino to his feet again, but gets slammed right back down. Kip calls for the brown bag, gets it and Rhino fires back with rights. Off the ropes and a clothesline to Kip. Corner spear by Rhino, and then a clothesline turns Kip inside out. Rhino to the floor, gets the table and slides it into the ring. He puts it into the corner, Kip up and rights to Rhino. Rhino then gets the belly to belly suplex, stalks Kip…misses the gore but stops before he hits the table. Love grabs the leg of Rhino, Sky sprays him in the face, GORE by Kip through the table and that is all.
Winner: Cute Kip @ 5:00 via pin
It was fine for the time given, but it didn't really excite me. I will say that it sets up will for the mixed tag match.
RATING: *
-They beat down Rhino after the match, but ODB and Rhaka Khan are out with chairs so Kip and the Beautiful People bail.
-JB finds Kurt as he arrives and they discuss the gold medal that JJ has. Kurt says JJ is like his old man, but Kurt will not be suckered in. He'll let JJ make the first move.
X-Division #1 Contender's Match: Sonjay Dutt w/Val vs. Consequences Creed vs. Jay Lethal vs. Petey Williams
They all brawl, Dutt and Val kiss and Lethal attacks him. Creed and Williams in the ring, boot by Creed and the rolling thunder follows for 2. Missile dropkick by Lethal to Creed, Dutt in and attacks him right away. Hip toss, cartwheel and dropkick by Lethal to Dutt. Williams gets the lung blower, Lethal and Dutt to the floor for a moment, but Dutt is back in and beats down Creed. Creed back with rights, but Williams attacks him and gets the side back breaker and spinning neck breaker. Williams poses, holds Creed and Dutt then drops the gloves and nails Creed with a right. Williams tosses Dutt to the floor, drop toehold to Creed and then Lethal in with the clothesline. Enziguri by Lethal to Williams, and a cover for 2. Creed in, fisherman's suplex and a cover for 2. Russian leg sweep by Williams to Creed, Dutt in and drops Williams. LIONSAULT to Creed and a cover for 2. Rights to Williams by Dutt, to the corner and a boot by Dutt. A Springboard misses, destroyer try but Creed in and superkicks Dutt. Destroyer try on Creed, Lethal in and gets the Lethal Combo! Backside by Creed on Dutt and that is all.
Winner: Consequences Creed @ 5:30 via pin
A fun little match here, with the guys going non-stop. That's a good thing, but I wish they would invest more time in these "contender's" matches. They don't come off as important, just as another match. Also we see all of these cool moves and it ends with the backslide? Really? Anyway that frees up Williams, Dutt, and Lethal for the Steel Asylum. I figure Rave, Sabin, Shelley, Sharky, Curry Man and Super Eric are all in as well.
RATING: **
-Lauren is with Bashir. Bashir says he is a perfect opponent for the biggest PPV of the year. A man that drapes himself in the red, white and blue. He asks Lauren who is free, who is brave? He paid the cost of being American with his life. His wife, children, they took a dose of the American dream, but he took a lethal injection. Creed's blood will spill, and he will torture him worse than Lady America has tortured him.
~KAREN'S ANGLE~
Mick Foley is the guest. Foley is here to talk about how excited he is to be here. He was nervous last week, because it was a big night, the first day of the rest of his life. He is here to look to make a difference, for the best of the business and also for him. There are young guys here to make a mark. Sting and Jeff are back, showing new life. He is flattered to be the enforcer for such a big match. He appreciates that Kurt tries to be the best every night. It is also a weakness. He has crossed the line, and it bothers him that JJ calls him the greatest acquisition. They discuss JJ being gone for 2-years, and he doesn't know if JJ can contain his emotions. Maybe he can be a mentor because he has been in a similar situation in regards to having a long lay off.
-Tenay and West break down the Bound for Glory Card:
-JB is with Rhino. Rhino says the TNA fans will spend their money for this PPV, and he will set up tables in the corners, and play a game of GORE the WHORE! Lansdell called that catchphrase 45-minutes ago, tremendous.
-We get a video package with Steve "Mongo" McMichael, the special referee for the Monsters Ball Match. He looks like he is wearing a toupée.
-Holy shit, not only does Storm have the beer holster again, but he is wearing a MINI-KEG around his neck!
-Team 3D comes to the ring, they have weapons, but I am sure that they are just here to observe.
Morgan and Roode to begin. Lock up and Morgan tosses Roode to the corner. Again and then Roode rakes the eyes of Morgan, chops follow and off the ropes, cross body, caught and the sack of shit follows. Storm dives in, caught and Roode then chop blocks the leg of Morgan. Storm works the knee with elbow drops, to the corner, cannon ball to the knee and then Roode wraps the leg around the steel post. Roode tags in, lays the kicks to the knee of Morgan but Morgan kicks Roode away. Rights to Roode, off the ropes and a ROLLING SINGLE LEG CRAB by Roode! SHADES OF LANCE STORM~! Morgan gets the tag, but the referee didn't see it. Beer Money double teams Morgan, double suplex countered and Morgan clotheslines them both down. Tag to Abyss and he beats down Beer Money. Corner splash to Roode, one to Storm, SHOCK TREATMENT to Storm! 1…2…NO! Roode makes the save. Morgan off the top with a big cross body to Beer Money. Bicycle kick to Roode, superkick by Storm! Storm gets the beer bottle but eats the black hole slam from Abyss and that is all.
Winners: Morgan and Abyss @ 7:00 via pin
A damn fine tag team match there, I enjoyed that. They got time to work, Morgan sold well and it was just a fun match.
RATING: **¾
-3D stares down with Morgan and Abyss after the match.
-Lauren is with LAX. LAX only wants Beer Money, they want revenge. Homicide says that they will elevate their hate, and then swears that Beer Money gets hurt at Bound for Glory!
-We get a video package for Angle vs. Jarrett.
-Tenay says that Karen Angle is stepping away from TNA to spend more time with her kids and that Foley is signed for "one" appearance at Bound for Glory.
~FOLEY~
Foley discusses his sports jacket, and says Ray stole his flannel vest, so he asks us all to deal with his new wardrobe. It is time to get serious. Last week was great and he thanks the fans. He has had great moments, but he has told the guys that last week will hold a special place in his heart. Foley knew last week that something great could happen, magic in the air, and at Bound for Glory those elements are there. He will watch possibly the greatest wrestler of all time, Kurt Angle, battle with Jeff Jarrett. All of the elements are there, and he will promise that any allies or enemies that try to get involved, will be dealt with by him harshly and immediately.
He then introduces Angle and Jarrett and gives them a chance for some last words before the PPV. JJ says TNA made a mistake in hiring Angle. But that is what he has to live with. Even though he didn't want it to come to this, it couldn't happen any other way and that Angle wanted this, not him. JJ gives back the medal and says he will see Angle in Chicago. Angle now says nothing. Foley wants them to shake hands, JJ offers and Angle accepts. FEEL THE HATE! Wait, Angle thanks JJ for giving the medal back. Angle asks him to go home, tell his three little girls that he apologizes…because daddy will not come home after Bound for Glory. Damn.
-JB is in Booker's locker room. It's still pimp. Booker says he knows everything, and says Cage will be on his side. AJ will be in the ring with a legend tonight. JB asks about the briefcase, and they tell him the time for the reveal is approaching.
-We get a rough cuts segment for Roxxi.
Raisha Saeed and Awesome Kong vs. Taylor Wilde and Roxxi
Roxxi and Kong to begin, Roxxi with rights by Saeed attacks. Roxxi goes for a cross body and Wilde helps with a missile dropkick, and Roxxi covers for 2. Kong then levels Wilde, Saeed in and Kong slams her onto Wilde, and she covers for 2. Mounted rights by Saeed, to the corner and a tag to Kong. Kong with the hair mare on Wilde, she now looks for the Kong Bomb, Wilde escapes and as Saeed holds Wilde, she moves and Kong levels Saeed. Wilde tags Roxxi, she cleans house and then goes up top with the double knee attack ala Evan Bourne for 2. Saeed and Wilde in now, it breaks down and Wilde is able to drop down and send Kong to the floor. Roxxi ends up eating a kick by Wilde and Saeed moves, Kong trips up Wilde and Saeed slams down Roxxi, goes up top and the MOONSAULT MISSES~! The Voodoo Crusher is stopped by Kong. Implant Buster by Kong, and Roxxi is done.
Winners: Raisha Saeed and Awesome Kong @ 4:30 via pin
A very solid, but short tag match here. I hope the three ladies get some time on Sunday, because I think they can have a good match. With Roxxi taking the pin again here, I imagine that she has a good chance to win Sunday, that reverse psychology booking shit that they like to do sometimes.
RATING: **
Booker T w/Sharmell and the Briefcase vs. AJ Styles With Christian Cage as Special Referee
They circle, lock up and to the corner they go. Cage wants a break, stops a right by Booker, AJ gets a roll up for 2. Booker isn't pleased. Lock up again, side headlock by AJ. Shots to the ribs by Booker, counters and a side headlock by Booker. Off the ropes and Booker with the spin kick to stop the dropkick combo by AJ. Off the ropes and AJ gets the dropkick anyway and covers for 1. We'll head to a commercial @ 1:30.
Back from commercial @ 5:00 as AJ comes back with a right to drop Booker. AJ lays he boots to Booker, picks up Booker and then delivers chops. Off the ropes, a counter and Booker with the stun gun to AJ. Chops by Booker in the corner, and then the side kick levels AJ and Booker covers for 2. Top wristlock by Booker now, pulls AJ to the mat and has control. AJ to his feet, off the ropes and a spinebuster by Booker gets 2. AJ avoids a kick, rights and chops to Booker by AJ, but Booker takes AJ down. He argues with Cage, and then works the rear chinlock on AJ. AJ gets to his feet, kicks by Booker and as he misses the bicycle kick, AJ connects with the PELE! Rights by AJ, a clothesline connects and then a snap suplex gets 2. Leg kicks by AJ and then gets the flying arm bar! Booker manages to get the ropes, AJ and Cage argue and then Booker gets the German and Cage counts three. AJ got the shoulder up at the last minute.
Winner: AJ Styles @ 11:00 via pin
This was a fine match, but I just keep having this feeling that AJ and Booker are capable of so much better. The booking was working towards the three-way for the last few weeks, so the finish all worked well.
RATING: **¼
-Booker tries to attack Cage, who takes him out to the floor. Smooth move Book. AJ looks for a hug and Cage levels him. Cornette does NOT approve and says nothing is settled. At Bound for Glory it will be AJ Styles vs. Christian Cage vs. Booker T.
-We get a video package, showcasing the Joe and Sting drama.
~MAIN EVENT INTERVIEW: JOE AND STING MAKE THE DEAL~
Jim Cornette is in the ring for the contract signing. Cornette goes into shill mode, and then brings out Sting and Joe. Cornette discusses the clause that they asked for. After the match at Bound for Glory, there will be NO REMATCH. Odd, but ok. Sting signs first, and then Joe.
Cornette says all that is left is the match this Sunday. Sting says it didn't have to be this way, but it is what it is and he'll see him Sunday. Joe then says they will do what they need to do. Joe says Sting may wonder why he isn't stomping him into the mat right now. Kevin taught him that above all, you be professional. Professionally speaking Sting is wrong, Joe respects him. He offers his hand and they shake. But then Joe HEAD BUTTS HIM! Respect THAT old man! Cornette bails and they brawl! Security tries to stop them…
Pretty Much the only thing that wasnt at least very good tonight was Kip-Rhino. Another tremendous outing from TNA.

The only woman in the Knockouts Tag who should get the title is the one who isn't in the match for it on Sunday.

" Booker gets the German and Cage counts three. AJ got the shoulder up at the last minute.
Winner: AJ Styles @ 11:00 via pin"
I'm confused... Booker won?
Posted By: Dave (Guest) on October 09, 2008 at 11:30 PM
Hire Russo...Clap clap, clap..clap...clap!
Posted By: Russonomics (Guest) on October 09, 2008 at 11:32 PM
Ever see Race/Flair, dude?
Posted By: Russonomics (Guest) on October 09, 2008 at 11:36 PM
Where the fuck does Booger T get off with that retarded accent?
Posted By: Raoul Duke (Guest) on October 09, 2008 at 11:58 PM
Dave -- after Book took AJ over with the german, they both had their shoulders on the mat. Since AJ rolled his up at the last minute, he beat the 3 count, but Book's shoulders were still down, therefore, he was pinned. So, AJ wins. Of course, Christian really won, because he got to punk both of the other guys after the match. If you don't know, now you know.

There was a moment during Beer Money vs. Abyss and Morgan where I thought 'That's definitely a Hidden Highlight.' So, it'll be interesting to see if anyone else on here caught it. Good show tonight by TNA though. Great build-up for Angel/Jarrett and Joe/Sting
Posted By: R. Zeitgeist (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 01:17 AM
Would it not be cool if Steve McMichael tries to interfere in the match and get wasted by all four teams? Another referees then comes out to continue the match. This will make Mongo a non-factor.
Posted By: Markster (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 01:24 AM
really? Mongo? oh c'mon now
Posted By: Dan Hirsch (Registered) on October 10, 2008 at 01:30 AM
Maybe TNA are planning on doing an Embassy type gimmick with Booker as the leader.
Posted By: Ed (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 01:36 AM
Emm.....So are we suppose to forgot about Jarrett's return last yeah for Lockdown and Sacrifice?
Posted By: DP (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 02:14 AM
People that use catchphrases for wrestling message boards are the biggest marks there are.
If YOU don't know, now you know.
Posted By: Guest#0577 (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 02:24 AM
Why is Booker T talking like a three year old?
Posted By: Chris (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 02:35 AM
Joe showing, yet again, that Sting was entirely correct.
Posted By: Ryushinku (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 05:32 AM
Am I the only person who thinks that they show have done this New Blood WCW rip-off storyline with TNA Originals vs WWE/WCW Rejects after Samoa Joe's awesome promo at Turning Point when Scott Hall didn't turn up. I remember everyone on the Internet was talking about that moment and expected big things but nothing happen. This is why TNA sucks - they fail to capitalise on great opportunities - Daniels vs Sting, or when Senshi gave in his notice, and coincidentally he had a briefcase that would give a reason for him to be fired! But they decided to give that to Daniels who is now wasting time as Curry Man. Criticise WWE all you want - but at least at certain times they saw an opportunity and went with it - Batista getting cheered, Edge vs Hardy, Miz & Morrison etc.
Sorry for the rant but yeah I wont watch TNA. The wrestlers are great but the booking is stupid beyond belief.
Posted By: AH (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 05:59 AM
Thanks for clarifying that, truthsayer
Posted By: Dave (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 06:07 AM
How can you expect a show to be good with Booker T in the main evnet. come on the last time this guy was exciting was 2001. He's probably a better wrestling teacher then a wrestler at this point.
Posted By: Davis (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 08:53 AM
No rematch? What is this, Hogan vs Warrior? I say Sting wins.
Posted By: Jboy1307 (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 10:05 AM
That was a great go home show for BFG. They really have done a great job of making the big matches feel important. Looking forward to ordering it on Sunday.
Posted By: Orlando (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 11:35 AM
Orlando, are you a TNA plant? haha i keed, or do I?
Posted By: Jboy1307 (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 11:41 AM
No doubt, another 1.1 rating!! TNA rules mediocrity!
Posted By: Leaper (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 11:43 AM
Do you remember the phrase last year "Bound For Bullshit".
Posted By: Guest#6608 (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 12:09 PM
Can't wait for BFG IV, I was at BFG last year and it was soooooo awesome. Here's a HIDDEN HIGHLIGHT: I don't know if anyone noticed but when Brother Ray was commentating he sounded just like Paul Heyman. I could have sworn he was Paul Heyman. It was really scary his voice sounded just like Paul Heyman's. Catch the replay of impact! this saturday morning and you'll hear it.
Posted By: technicalwrestlersrule (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 12:17 PM
Listen if you insist on saying TNA sucks and I'm never watching this again, then why are you posting anything about this subject? Is it the fact your mommy and daddy didn't hug you enough or the fact you were just going with the flow because the only wrestling you can remeber is Colt Cabana vs. CM Punk? Seriously if you want to complain about stuff here I'll give you something. I was at ringside for Starrcade 1990 in St. Louis. There if you do not know what that is look it up. I give you freaking idiots pure gold and you turn and say the gayesty shit like Epic Fail and Russo-rific. Really?? Really? Try sitting throug Sting vs. the Black Scorpion..then you can bitch about anything. Untill then shut the FUCK up.
Posted By: Rich Thomas (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 12:33 PM
I really didn't like that Joe head butted Sting. It totally proves Sting's point. Joe isn't the level of a guy like Austin, where he can act like a heal and still get cheared. The hand shake proved that he was respectful, Sting should have attacked at that point to show what a two faced dick he is. I liked the rest of the show, and the video at the end was really good, but that Joe/Sting promo just fell flat for me.
Posted By: DC (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 01:48 PM
Did I say a three year old? I meant Lou from Taxi.
Posted By: Chris (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 01:55 PM
I don't watch TNA right now, but I always read the recaps to see what TNA is up to. Usually the recaps validate my belief that the show is absolutely terrible. However, for once while reading a recap I was pretty impressed with the way it seems TNA put this show together. I'm going to tune in next week to see how it goes.
Posted By: Mike X (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 03:11 PM
I could be totally wrong on this, but lately with this old vs. new feud it appears as if they're really blurring the traditional lines between babyface and heel. I can't figure who's what anymore especially with Sting still high fiving people on his way down to the ring and Joe acting like a complete asshole. So here's my thought. Could they actually be trying to lessen the importance of good vs. bad in the storylines and just go with guys hating each other and beating each others asses for purely personal reasons? What a coup that would be. Absolutely rewriting the books on wrestling and how the stories are told. Removing the old, typical drama of good vs. evil to focus more on personal character traits. And in the process throwing out the old dichotomy and writing it as if the wrestlers are just a bunch of bad asses wanting to kill each other.
Am I alone in thinking this?
Posted By: Sal Minella (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 03:51 PM
Has anyone noticed that TNA is trying to do a New Blood / Millionaire Club storyline again? I mean, when this first started, I was like... "Hmmm.... for some reason this story seems VERY familiar.." And as the weeks went on, I put 2 and 2 together, and realized "HEY! This already happened, AND IT SUCKED!!"
So why in the hell are they trying to revive it?
And what'll be next? The Disco Inferno coming in @ Joe and Sting's match and helping Sting win? Like he did to Goldberg when he wanted to join the Wolfpac? With TNA booking, ANYTHING could happen.
Posted By: nWo (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 05:31 PM
I like where you're going with that Sal Minella. I've always been down with the idea of building your product around the very real concept of wrestlers being 1)hungry for competition 2)in it for themselves and 3)out for championships. Roy Jones Jr., Tito Ortiz, Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, BJ Penn ... people may love or hate these athletes but pay to watch them 'cause they know they're competitors and will bring it in the big fight. I've got no problem letting Samoa Joe be the truculent badass who doesn't care for a veteran's lip and Sting being the respect-seeking former great who thinks he's owed a spot and letting them fight over it for twenty minutes in a main event. It writes itself and it interests me. There are only so many stories to be told so why not re-jig the product and let personalities do what they're programmed to do and see what people think of it. I don't know if TNA is equipped to do it, but it would make them the TRUE alternative if they did.
Posted By: Tactix Millington (Registered) on October 10, 2008 at 07:26 PM
Wow, nWo, you're really on the ball on that one! It's only been a discussion for the last two months. What a revelation!
Now I've been thinking about it lately(albeit not as much as nWo apparently has been) and I've been trying to wrap my head around one thing. In the WCW version of the New Blood/Millionaire's Club who exactly was in the New Blood? I always watched WCW back then and honestly cannot remember who the youngsters even were let alone whether they were worthy of such a program. Which leads to the new angle in TNA. I have to believe that Joe, AJ, Lethal, etc. are much, much more worthy of being in this angle than any 'youth' WCW could speak of at the time. Which is why I think the angle will and is working this time. It has better players to sell the story.
So, anyone who says "it sucked before, why will it work now" take into consideration the level of talent in the youth pool at TNA and tell me how it even comes close to comparing to the youth of the ol' WCW days.
Posted By: Sal Minella (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 07:39 PM
You can talk about blurring lines all you want but most what it does is makes things confusing for the audience. Wrestling isn't like boxing or MMA where your top star can be a douchebag and the crowd still loves him. Austin and Rock got away with it but if you look at how they were booked, they were still clearly being portrayed as heroes/faces. They usually had the odds stacked against them or were paired off against an even bigger douchebag than themselves (Vince, HHH, Ministry Taker), so they'd draw cheers. Having both guys portrayed as tweeners or whatever word you prefer to use doesn't work. It didn't work in the past. The crowd will still choose who it wants to cheer, and in this example it's Sting because Joe's being portrayed as a petulant child. Wrestling is partially a sport, yes, but it's also partially a performance. This isn't Japan where the distinction of face/heel isn't so important in the grand scheme of a match. American wrestling is mostly a morality tale, much like the vast majority of American cinema or television. Good vs. evil is the structure in which American wrestling tells it's stories.
