411's Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling Recap 11.15.08
Posted by Steve Cook on 11.15.2008

Hi, hello and welcome to 411's recap of Hulk Hogan's Championship Wrestling! I'm Steve Cook, and once again it's a rush to get this column done because today is my grandfather's birthday. I wish I had remembered all of these other commitments before I agreed to recap this show. Oh well, we're on Episode 5 now, only three more to go!

Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling Episode 105: Train with the Pros

When both teams combine into one team to tackle the most dangerous match to date, one of the celebrities is injured and rushed to the hospital. Special guest Rob Van Dam steps in to help the celebrities and a very shocking elimination rocks the team again.

Cast:

Team Beefcake:
Danny Bonaduce, Todd Bridges, Butterbean, Trishelle Cannatella, Tiffany
Team Nasty: Dustin Diamond, Erin Murphy, Dennis Rodman, Frank Stallone, Nikki Ziering
Coaches: Brutus Beefcake & Brian Knobs
Judges: Eric Bischoff, Jimmy Hart & Hulk Hogan

The odds are against our beloved Trishelle this week, as she's the only woman left and it's pretty much a boy's club now. Dustin feels like the weak links are gone from Team Nasty. Danny isn't there, as usual. The other celebs are intimidated by Trishelle's pink bra. Knobs feels confident about this week as they head to the arena. Eric Bischoff is there to meet them in a nice suit. Rodman is having fun with the competition, and takes a shot at Trishelle. Trishelle thinks he's jealous because she looks better in a wedding dress than he does. Eric informs the celebrities that there is no more Team Beefcake or Team Nasty, as they will all be working together now. This week there will be just one match, and it will be a battle royal! Eric explains the rules, as you can eliminate somebody by throwing them over the top rope, or by hitting your finisher on them. The first two moves this week are "over the top" & "duck & boost", there will be a third added later. Butterbean is not thrilled about going over the top rope. At the gym, Knobs tells them to hit the apron before they fall. Todd lands on his balls the first time he tries it. Butterbean has a lot of difficulty getting over the top rope, but eventually makes it after several tries. Dustin claims his shoulder is hurt and doesn't want to do anything. Trishelle says there are two women left on the show. Dennis ends up hurting one of the trainers when he wings them over the top rope, as they end up landing on their wrist.

After a commercial, Trishelle throws Dustin over the top and Dustin goes to see the medic. The other celebs make fun of Dustin for constantly being in the medic's office, and Dustin talks to the camera while he's taped up like a mummy. They question the validity of his injuries. Danny finally shows up after his radio show and tries to catch up. Hulk Hogan shows up at the gym with none other than Rob Van Dam! Hulk puts over RVD as having the best signature moves in the business, and tells the celebs that their third move will be their finishing move, and RVD will help them pick one out. RVD explains the importance of finishing moves and demonstrates his 5 Star Frog Splash on Knobs. The celebs are impressed and Hulk leaves the gym to let them work on their finishers. He tells the camera "Better them than me." His words prove prophetic, as Danny immediately messes up his back taking a bump to the outside. He can't sit up as we go to commercial…

The medic checks on Danny and an ambulance is called in. They put him on a stretcher and in a neck brace and take him out. The celebrities & RVD are concerned and hope he will be all right. Butterbean is optimistic that Danny will be back tomorrow for the match. After all of that, RVD helps the celebrities come up with their finishing moves. He likes Dennis' second-rope clothesline that he's been using. He wants more animation out of Butterbean's front bodyslam. Trishelle doesn't have an idea for her finisher, so RVD suggests a Muta Lock and it seems to work well for her. He suggests a sunset flip for Todd, and Todd's not very confident about it. Dustin decides to use a DDT, which will surely warm Jake Roberts' heart. RVD leaves, and Knobs puts him over as a true professional. He tells the celebs that the show will go on with or without Danny.

On match day the celebs hope Danny will be ok, but Knobs tells them his status is uncertain and they have to go on without him. They go to the gym and practice their battle royal. Trishelle is afraid of working with Dennis because he hurts people. At the arena before the match, Beefcake gives them a pep talk and Knobs announces that they are now Team Hogan.

It's match time! Hulk welcomes the crowd and hopes they're ready to rock, jack.

Battle Royal!

The first two entrants are the Winner & Mr. Not So Perfect. They start with a pose off, Winner takes control with a back elbow, stomp, and a goofy dancing elbowdrop. He tries to throw NSP out, but NSP skins the cat and kicks Winner. Head into the corner, punches, and a handspring forearm smash by NSP. The Red Hot Redneck is third into the ring, and she opts to team up with her fellow former Team Beefcake member against Winner! Double clothesline and they continue to work him over until Rodzilla enters the ring. He decides to attack NSP & RHR. Rod & RHR pair off while NSP & Winner continue their battle from earlier. Here comes Mean Bean! He smashes all four wrestlers into various corners and tries to toss NSP, who saves himself again. Rodzilla slaps Bean from behind, they face off, and Bean must fend off the four other wrestlers. They dogpile on him for a pin attempt, but he kicks them all off! Eventually they manage to hoist Bean over the top rope and eliminate him. Winner tries to shake hands with Rodzilla, but Rod has none of it, and NSP hits the sunset flip on Winner for the three count! Rod tries to throw out NSP, NSP hangs on the apron, but the RHR gets Rod from behind and throws him over the top, taking NSP with him!

Winner: Red Hot Redneck

Trishelle had a pretty good show this week, getting the majority of the notable sound bites and winning the match. Also, I noticed more cleavage than usual. Probably a smart move on her part.

Hulk gives them triple props. It was a tough week, but somebody has to go home. He puts over Trishelle big time for her physicality, and the fact that she showed no fear going against Dennis Rodman. Eric comments that Dustin Diamond gets the same reaction that he does. He says Dustin started out great, but he's stayed at pretty much the same level while everybody else has improved. Jimmy wasn't a big fan of Butterbean's bump. But at the end of the day, Hulk says that all the celebrities are hurting but they still wrestled. Danny Bonaduce didn't, so Hulk calls him a jabroni and says he won't be back in his ring!

No interview with Danny. Hmmm.

Join us next time when the celebrities get hardcore, Danny comes back and raises a fuss, and Bill Goldberg drops by!

You can watch Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling at 2 PM & 8 PM every Saturday (along with other replays all week long) on CMT.....................brother.

I find myself really enjoying this. Though obviously not as well performed, the matches are generally better *written* than your average WWE or TNA match.

It was fun to see RVD do the frog splash and then calmly keep explaining whats going on, even as he's faking his rib injury. Loved it!

Dustin Diamond is definitely my favorite. I don't really care much for Butterbean or Rodman - they are pretty flavorless, depending on size and reputation rather than effort and performance. Danny seems a little too into himself, but he could be a believable wrestler. The Redneck gal would fit in perfectly as a WWE rent-a-bimbo, but she'll never be a convincing wrestler.
