411's WWE Royal Rumble Report 01.25.09
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 01.25.2009

Greetings, humanity! Welcome to the LIVE coverage of the 2009 Royal Rumble, RIGHT HERE on 411mania.com! I am your host and 3rd-place finisher in the Imperial Rumble, Chris Lansdell, and I am ready to RUMBLE!!!

We open with a video package featuring Orton punting Vince. King and Cole tell us that Orton will be reprimanded, but we don't know how. Maybe he wins the Rumble, has the title shot stripped and the last 6 Raw guys end up in the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out?

We are LIVE from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit!

ECW Title Match: Jack Swagger © vs. Matt Hardy

Jerk that curtain Matt! Matt does not look too concerned about his brother. Wouldn't be surprised to see him implicated in the Jeff attacks tonight. This is my first chance to see SWAGGA in singles action. We get the super special ring announcing and we're off!

Swagger ducks between the ropes early to avoid beatings. Another lockup and Swagger tries a cheapshot, blocked by Hardy who comes back with a big right to floor the champ. Swagger tries again and Hardy lays into him. Swagger to the outside where Matt SMACKS him with a big right then introduces his head to the apron. Back inside and Matt with a big clothesline. Swagger bails again and smartly takes a few seconds to recover. Back in, Swagger goes for a double leg, Matt fights briefly but Sawgger ends up in control with a hammerlock. Hardy gets to his feet and turns into an arm ringer, Swagger gets a takedown and back to the hammerlock. Hardy ducks a clothesline, kick to the gut and Swagger escapes the Twist of Fate only to get both feet in his face with a basement dropkick! Bulldog out of the corner by Hardy gets 2. Whip reversed, Hardy gets an elbow up into the charging Swagger and goes up top, but Swagger throws him to the outside! Swagger follows and goes to work on the left arm. Back in and Swagger continues to apply pressure to the arm. 2 count off a shoulder by Swagger, and then into a top wristlock. Hardy to the corner for the break, Swagger uses the ropes to apply more punishment. Hardy fights out of the corner but Swagger yanks the left arm and halts the momentum. Clothesline by Hardy blocked and that hurt his arm. BIG boot by Swagger and back to the wristlock, then into move #4...arm-bar. Swagger continues the arm work but Hardy uses the right arm for a clothesline! More clotheslines! Clothesline drop gets 2. Whip by Hardy, charging clothesline and a bulldog get 2 more. Hardy still favouring the arm as he goes to the second rope and DOWN with the elbow to the back of the head! 2 more for Hardy. Hardy goes for the Twist but Swagger turn it into a belly to belly! Swagger goes for the fisherman's suplex, Hardy fights off and tries for a vertical, reversed to an armbar DDT by Swagger for 2. Nice psychology. Swagger takes Matt up top and goes up with him, Hardy pushes him off and MOONSAULT!!! Fuck me he almost landed on his head. 1...2...2.77! Twist countered again, Side Effect blocked and Hardy is thrown shoulder-first to the ring post! Doctor Bomb! 1...2...3!!! Clean win!

Winner: Jack Swagger via pinfall (Doctor Bomb)

We see Randy Orton arriving to total silence.

WWE Women's Title Match: Beth Phoenix © vs. Melina

Melina's entrance needs less giant feathers and more paparazzi. Santino is out with Beth. No sign of Rosa.

Lockup and Beth shows her POWAH early. Headlock by Melina and again Beth powers out and shoves Melinaa down. "SANTINO! SANTINO!" - Detroit. Melina elbows out of a waistlock and hits a dropkick, Beth doesn't go down. Melina charges and EATS a shoulder and goes down like a ton of bricks. Whip by Beth, tilt-a-whirl into an armbar by Melina! Impressive. HOLY...Beth stands up with Melina on one shoulder and chucks her to the corner! Beth charges into an elbow, Melina tries a victory roll but gets DROPPED backwards by Beth! SAMOAN CLAM BAKE by Beth! 1 count only! Insufficient ass. Beth applies a very painful modified half crab, pulling her leg so far forward that she makes Melina kick herself in the back of the head!!! Melina comes back with a kick, she charges and Beth catches her in a botched side slam. Beth positions Melina up top, GORILLA PRESS! Melina slips out and they botch the spot, then go for it again as Melina gets a sunset flip for 2. Drop toehold by Melina and a running double knee to the back of Beth, followed by the horsecollar bulldog for two. Beth charges into a double boot, second rope Lou Thesz press by Melina! Beth goes for the split leg drop, Beth ducks and counters the wheelbarrow into a Glam Slam...beautifully countered! Rollup! 3! New champ!

Winner: Melina via pinfall (sunset flip)

A recap of the HBK-JBL angle. JBL is in the locker room with Shawn, and tells him that if he wins, JBL will pay him everything he owes him and he can quit. Not only that, he'll give him a shot at Mania for the title. Interesting twist to the story there. HBK turns aroung and UNDERTAKER is there! "Sometimes, it's hell getting to heaven." Umm, OK. Maybe that sets up the HBK-Taker match that half the IWC is drooling over.

World Title Match: John Cena © vs. JBL

HBK is wearing camo UnderArmor. If you say so. About a 60-40 split on the Cena entrance, we ARE in a smart wrestling town after all. More super-special announcing. Starting the 3rd match 45 minutes in...Hardy-Edge better be LONG. Hey Cena, your undewear is showing, pull your pants up you lout! Obama will not be impressed!

Cena with an early headlock takedown. To their feet and JBL gets one of his own. To the ropes and JBL takes down Cena with a shoulder, then Cena takes JBL down with a back elbow. JBL to the outside, he whispers something to HBK. I bet he wasn't passing on a recipe for a really cracking lentil soup. JBL back in with some stiff shots to take control.Whip reversed, Cena crosses up on the ropes and hits the one-handed bulldog for 2. Throwback gets 2 more! Michaels has not cracked his face yet as JBL goes to the floor to recover, Cena charges and ducks a clothesline but pulls up short as he was about to run into Shawn. JBL with the shot from behind and he has control. To the steps! Back inside and JBL ets a cover for 2. Short-arm clothesline for 2 more. "Let's go Cena!" "Cena sucks!" - Detroit. Series of elbows by JBL gets 2. Snap mare and a rear chinlock by JBL. Side slam by JBL gets 2 more. Cena rolls under the ropes, JBL pulls him to his feet and then knocks him off the apron. JBL seems content to let Cena get counted out, then changes his mind and goes out with him. Whip into the stairs and Cena looks out of it. Back in at 7, cover gets 2 more. JBL with big rights in the corner, then he positions Cena up top and lays in a couple more big rights. JBL goes up for the superplex but Cena with some rib shots to block, he powers out of the superplex grip and knocks JBL off the top! I smell the Rocker Dropper...hits! Well, he missed by JBL sold it. 1...2...2.61! Both men are groggy, Cena charges into JBL's boot, JBL goes off the ropes but Cena tackles him and starts laying in right hands! Shoulder blocks! Ugly-ass blue thunder bomb! You are unable to visually perceive his personnage! FU try countered by JBL with an elbow! Clothesline from Hell...NO! Drop toehold! STFU! Oh sorry, STF. JBL reaching for the ropes, Michaels makes as if he is going to push the ropes closer but Cena releases the hold to kick at HBK! Cena goes back to the hold but JBL kicks him off! It looks like HBK may have opened the ropes and Cena goes to the outside!!! Cena remonstrates with an impassive Michaels, gets back into the ring and is levelled by the Clothesline from Hell! 1...2...2.88!!!!! JBL is pissed at HBK, he picks up Cena and Cena goes for the FU!!! Countered! JBL goes for a b ig boot and nails the ref! Double clothesline and both men are down, and here comes HBK! Detroit explodes, Cena smilesand goes to to shake Shawn's hand...CHIN MUSIC TO CENA!!! Detroit explodes again! Michaels rolls JBL onto Cena and walks away!!!! The ref is still out though. Here comes Jack Doane! 1...2...2.9012285!!!!! Both men are totally out of it. JBL is up first, he goes for the clothesline again but Cena ducks! FU! 3!

Winner: John Cena via pinfall (FU)

They recap the Edge-Hardy saga.

WWE Title Match: Jeff Hardy © vs. Edge

Jeff comes out with pyro. See, if it was me doing the booking, I would have left that out tonight. Jeff appears to have been watching the Starrcade DVD as he is painted like Sting. EXCUSE HER! EXCUSE HER! EXCUSE HER! Don't even think about getting out of this match by getting disqualified, because it's a no DQ match. Smell that interference~! Edge is accompanied by Gopher Guerrero. Even more super special announcing, Edge gets a pop because Toronto is not far.

This should be good. Jeff charges straight away and takes it to Edge, then takes him to the corner. "We want Christian!" - Detroit. Hardy with boots in the corner, to the ropes and a flying forearm. Another whip, Edge holds the ropes and ducks out, Jeff chases him and gets a chair but that backfires as Edge catches him coming in. Big shots by Edge, a whip but Jeff goes up and over and hits a clothesline. Snap mare, basement dropkick to the back of the head and a cover gets 2. Scoop slam by Hardy. Edge comes back with a kick to the gut and some clubbing forearms, whip to the ropes but Hardy slides under and flips the bird! Edge chases, Hardy slides in and then hits the baseball slide dropkick! He fakes the catapult, lands on the apron and then hits the leaping clothesline to the floor on Edge! Nice sequence. Back inside, Chavo distracts Hardy and Edge catches Jeff with a big boot as he tries to slingshot in. Edge follows to the outside, BIG whip to the barricade. Hardy gets hauled across to the announce tables where he is slammed into each one. The ref is not counting, although it's supposed to be no DQ, not no count-out. Edge with the cover gets 2. Edge measures Jeff and hits a running kick to the ribs. Whip to the corner and a spear in the corner by Edge. Edge has slowed this match right down, making it easier to recap. Whip again, Jeff flips over the spear into a sunset flip for 2!! Clothesline by Edge corrects the momentary oversight and he gets 2. Rear waistlock by Edge now, and this just looks wrong. Jeff elbows out but Edge yanks him down. Hardy fights back and hits the mule kick, Jeff goes up top but gets caught. Edge goes up with him but gets pushed down! Hardy leaps RIGHT INTO A DROPKICK by Edge! Nice timing on that. 1...2...2.83! Crowd are really not into this. Edge goes out for 2 chairs, I wonder what's next. Hardy charges and spears Edge off the apron! Great spot. Slingshot crossbody to the outside by Hardy! He throws Edge in but Edge catches Hardy with a kneelift. Edge and Hardy both on the apron, FUCK ME SENSELESS a Twist of Fate on the apron! Edge is taken to the Smackdown table head-first, then Jeff dismantles the Raw table. He goes under the ring and has a BIG-ASS ladder, at least 12 feet. Higher than the ring. Edge is on the table, Hardy is on the ladder and Chavo is going up the ladder! He gets knocked off and Hardy leaps on Chavo! Edge gets thrown to the post, and Hardy now puts Chavo on the table. No, don't do that Jeff! MOTHER OF MERCY splash off the ladder onto Chavo!!!!! What a waste! Hardy is hurting but he launches himself at Edge who is still down. Back inside and a high crossbody by Jeff gets 2. Whip reversed and Edge hits a big boot to regain control. He removes the turnbuckle pad but Hardy blocks the ram and hits the Whisper in the Wind!!! 1...2...2.899!!! Kick, Twist of Fate reversed! Impaler!! 1...2...2.9004! Edge is going up top now, Hardy gets the feet up but Edge blocks the counter! Hardy kicks Edge off, cradle! 1..2...no. Gourdbuster by Hardy, he's going up! Edge tries to crawl away so Hardy gets down and hits a basement dropkick! Edge in the corner, Hardy goes for the corner dropkick but Edge catches him and stun guns him on the exposed turnbuckle! 2 count only. Edge stalks for the spear, COUNTERED to the Twist of Fate!!! Hardy goes up, Vickie is out! Hardy kicks her off, SWANTON! 1...2...Vickie pulls the ref out! Matt Hardy is here! He has a chair and throws Vickie in the ring! Matt gives Jeff a chair and gets one of his own...WHAM!!!! Matt kills Jeff!!!!!! Everyone is shocked! Even JR is speechless! Edge with the cover! 1...2...3!!!!!

Winner: Edge via pinfall (Greasy jealous Hardy brother chairshot)

Whoever thought we'd see the day when Matt Hardy helped Edge?

The refs help Jeff to the back as JR questions why. And we have to wait until at least Tuesday to find out.

Orton is backstage and says he's still in the Rumble until he hears otherwise. Jericho comes in and congratulates Orton for the punt. Orton is suspicious of Jericho's motives and Jericho says he's just being honest, because this could well be Orton's last night as a WWE employee.

I don't care if it was a one-shot deal, I marked out for RVD

What are we going to post about now that RVD is back?

Posted By: Guest#1189 (Guest)  on January 25, 2009 at 11:55 PM

So did RVD sign or was it just a one-shot deal?
/not the first RVD comment

Can't wait to catch this on WWE 24/7, but am damn glad I didn't order this for the simple fact that Cena won, HHH of course lasted until the end, and no Christian. RVD certainly helped though, and I can't wait to watch just for the period when the arena is just chanting for him.

Move over RVD! It's NEW YORK TIME BABY!

Posted By: Tiffany Pollard (Guest)  on January 25, 2009 at 11:58 PM

The rumble was good but could have been better. Matt turning on Jeff was too damn obvious. Jack Swagga just keeps getting better. RVD was a big suprise but we'll probably never see him again. I thought it was a good show overall.

Posted By: christopherg (Guest)  on January 25, 2009 at 11:59 PM

Show was a little disappointing imo. Hardy v Edge was very good, but Hardy v Hardy feud will flop like last time. This will probably kill The Hardys mechandice sales as well. CHRISTIAN IS STAYING WITH TNA! DIXIE AND EVERYBODY ELSE, WAS JUST WORKING THE INTERNET. YOU READ IT HERE FIRST.

Well, was it a one shot deal?!?!

Did RVD re-sign or was it a one shot deal?

I love how 13 months later, the RVD joke pays off for 411mania.com

I think Paul Heyman is booking the IWC cause this was gold.

RVD stole the show.

So is this a one-shot deal, or is RVD back for good?

pfft...The TNA match was FiveStars...

gayass Jeff hurvey couldn't get a 2 star match...not even Edge could carry him...

The Rumble match was predictable...
even with my eyes closed I could tell who was entering the ring...

JBL should've won cause he gets bigger pops then John Cena...

Melina botched a ton...

Jack Swagger was the only highlight of the ppv(if you could call it that)....

it's too bad Swagger is bein' misused by the wwfagz...
he'd be bringing in a new "BOOM" period if he were working for TNA...

TNA; where the REAL wrestlers play...

Had my friend not ruined the RVD surprise for me, I would have flipped my seat when he came out. Dude was highlight of the night, and reminds me of how much I miss him.

Sadly, no Five Star. Very sadly.

thank god i didn't read the "Major Royal Rumble Spoiler" before i ordered.
when RVD came out, i MARKED THE FUCK OUT OVER 9000%!!!
thought it was gonna be Rob Van Hass for a minute until i saw his face.
i was jumping up and down with glee, yelling "OH MY GOD!!!".
i about fainted.
totally forgot i was in a house with 2 sleeping babies.
my aunt was pissed and threatened to turn it off if i did that again.
lol

While the right guy won theRoyal Rumble it wasn't much of a Rumble. I mean Morrison should have been in much longer but off cause HHH has to make Miz and Morrison his bitch(he also dominated most of the Rumble including dumping Kozlov easily) Benjamin was in there all that long either. There was way too many guys in way too long by the time they got to the last entrant. Well 15 years after Owen turned on Bret Matt turned on Jeff. Imo the Woman's title matched sucked and Melina shouldn't have gone over.Edge Vs Jeff imo was the best match. Pretty meh ppv imo.

So did I sir, so did I. I have to say the Rumble match was excellent, but the undercard was kinda blah, Hardy/Edge was predictable, and the rest of the card was so so.....

Posted By: g (Guest)  on January 26, 2009 at 12:24 AM

honestly, i didnt mark out for RVD simply because i knew how the 411 universe was going to react...and yes, it was a one time deal.

How can you hate the new Priceless song?? The old one sounded like some country bullshit sung by Kenny Rogers...that's retarded...

And i was totally sitting there PRAYING for Christian the entire Rumble...but when i heard RVD's music i didn't care anymore!! MARK OUT!!

And it's not that i love the RVD joke, but i love the little douches that squirm with discontent! Classic!

Rumble match was good although the outcome was predictable. It was nice to see the ring filled for the entire match for once. Good move!

The Matt heel turn was good however I think they made a mistake taking the title of Jeff. He needs time with the strap to see if he can bring in money and ratings. Maybe they aren't willing to risk another "incident" with him.

I may not care much for HHH anymore, but I would sure as hell rather he win the rumble over that no talent HACK Randy Orton. The guy has NO in ring talent (seriously, try and find a match where he doesn't F up at least one move), he has no charisma (playing the same character with no evolution of it for 5 years now), and has no reason for being anywhere above midcard status in the WWE. I would rather see Kofi Kingston win the rumble than Randy Orton. Screw Wrestlemania this year if that retard is gonna be main eventing it.

And when he got eliminated by the devilish Jericho.....Did you notice the MASSIVE BOOS ?

Since I only saw the Rumble Match that's all I will comment on.

It was underwhelming.

- The HBK get thrown over the rope and hang on spot was way over used (although Rey came up with some nice versions).

- The ring was way to crowded for most of the match. I'm not sure if this is because a lot of the big names came in early, but none of the bigs like Kane, Taker or the Big Show cleared it up late. It felt like a cluster fuck and on top of that the cameras missed a lot of the big throw out spots.

- The match was way too predictable.

- I was also sad to see the Warlord's record broken.

Things I liked ...

- Seeing RVD again, only to have him throw a chain of the sorriest looking hot clotheslines ever seen. Plus he had a nice elimination spot.

- The Miz coming in and making sure he went after every big name in the ring.

- The Show/CM Punk spot, although it would have been better if they hadn't done a thousand hang on spots before that.

- Rhodes vs Goldust.

All in all not a bad Rumble, but not great either. Probably forgettable in the long run.

Edge defeated Cena and then WWE Champion RVD clean on RAW for the WWE Title. JR may have tried to sell it as "despicably stealing Cena's win" when he used the WWE Title Belt but it was Triple threat match where weapons were legal. He didn't do anything wrong at all.

We ALLLL marked out hard for RVD. He got a real nice pop too. When he was in the ring and all you heard was D!! D!! D!! People were goin grazy for RVD 4:20.

Good show, although the Rumble only had ONE suprise guest, and they didnt have the Hunter/Orton square off that they should have done, it was still a good rumble. Everybody in is, worked their ass off and it showed.

When RVD can out I marked like crazy and then just started laughing my ass off wondering what posters on this board were thinking.

Also, before Jeff/Edge started I announced to everyone around me that Matt would turn on Jeff. After it happened little kids were crying. I shouldn't feel good about that but... well... I do.

wow, a 3rd matt turn on jeff, who cares, i dont and i know no one else will care either.....give it about a month and nobody will give a damn about matt , just like his entire career before the whole edge-lita issue.

i spent the whole time waiting for the instant classic, but after the 1st match i knew we had another boring matt turning on jeff heel turn that will go no where, and oh my god did you see it, rvd is back..zzzzzzzzzzzzz.....who gives a damn, what did rule was well everything besides no amazing comeback just yet from chrisitan, the ever boring 3rd time lucky heel turn of matt and i never saw it coming but didnt really care when it did return of rvd.

undertaker ruled as always and dominated the rumble, edge a champion again not really a bad idea as a mid carder has now lost a title he never deserved (all real fans know the hardys never deserved a world title, and should never be given one again)and well the suspense of the instant classic, captain charisma himself, chrisitan continues, it is gonna be amazing when he does arrive.

undertaker rules.

I dunno whenever I see Legacy together I feel like they're 2 seconds away from rubbing each other with baby oil. Perhaps that's why so many guys here worship Randy Orton. ;)

Seriously folks, be leaders NOT followers. Make up some new material that is clever instead of regurgitating shit that was played out back when you were still sucking your moms titty. (although for many of you that's not saying much seeing as how you still continue to do so in your mid 30's)

Did Matt buy they car from Christian that hit Jeff...was Matt naked with Jeff in Jeff's bed in his hotel room and Christian threatened to "expose" the news to everyone if Matt didn't attack Jeff?

"Rumble match was good although the outcome was predictable."

Everything is predictable. You're just either right or wrong. Had they gone the route of 'suprise #30 entrant Christian winning' or 'HBK secretly enters himself and wins' we'd have a whole new set of people complaining that it was 'too predictable'. Sometimes the bookers have to go with the safe bet because it's often the one that makes sense.

Posted By: His Bubbliness (Guest)  on January 26, 2009 at 09:29 AM

And may I just state, for the record, that Jeff Hardy's run easily trumps the reigns of CM Punk and Rey Mysterio as THE WORST TITLE RUN EVER!

Santino character solution: Santino is my favorite mic man, by far. He's great. However, he's been forced to be stuck in this loop... where his character has no growth. Just funny. I say after his IC disappointment and this Royal Rumble embarrassment, it would be great if his character gets mad at the powers to be. He gets so seething mad that he loses his fake accent and when management yells at him for not sticking to his contract, he says he doesn't give a crap. He was born in Italy, but he grew up in Canada. He is sick and tired of being a McMahon puppet. This would allow him to shed the accent and the "being out of touch with pop culture" character but STILL be the funny guy that he is.

"why did they make us think HBK was gonna be in the rumble when he wasnt? im talking about the jbl segment..that was stupid "

See, it's comments like this that make everyone on the IWC seem retarded. When the hell did they ever say Shawn was going to be in the Rumble?

Posted By: His Bubbliness (Guest) on January 26, 2009 at 09:26 AM

He just said when you tool, the JBL segment...JBL said that if Shawn helped him win that he wouldn't have to work again after tonight and that he would get him into the Rumble

Here's a Wrestlemania 25 match. . .TLC featuring Matt Hardy & Edge VS Jeff Hardy and. . .CHRISTIAN!!

Posted By: Kevin Lewis, Brooklyn, NY (Guest) on January 26, 2009 at 08:50 AM

And they wouldn't have the 25th ANNIVERSARY of WRESTLEMANIA without the the WWE TITLE being defended at it, that would be insane

Jericho and Orton talking backstage. Jericho says to Orton that after what he did to Vince, the rumble would be his last match.

And my brother immediately says "It's obvious that Orton is now going to win the rumble".

No fucking Christian! Denied!!

I have to disagree and say that this was a great ppv. It was a huge Royal Rumble that helped develop a ton of stories. They also did a great job of making every one believe that Christian was coming back which in my opinion was amazing. Also I'm very glad that Jack SWAGGER got to keep his and we no longer have to see stale boring Matt Hardy matches.

Like the first post, I too marked the fuck out when RVD entered. Then I laughed histarically when I thought about 411.

After the Rumble I came here and the RVD thing turned out to be a spoiler.

God I love how the universe works. 13 months.

It was actually Christian dressed up as RVD but nobody caught it.

why the hell do you think christian leaving tna was a work? if that were the case, then that would bring more buys to the rumble, thus making dixie look like a complete moron for helpong the rival company...tna would never make a dumb decision like that....i take that back

THANK YOU i was afraid i'd have to waste my time answering this idiot. seriously tho, that was the biggest rumble disapointment. everyone is wating for either christian or hbk at 30 and instead we get the bland and boring big show.

I figured Orton would win the Rumble what with the focus on him and the Legacy and the Rev Throy playing at RAW and the recent push with the concussion kick and all. Good choice.

It'd be cool for this to set up the Taker-Michaels feud. Vince must listen to the IWC.

On that note, how about that RVD? He is officially our n ew rickroll now. Congratulations, smaks. We here at 411mania have the power at alter booking at our immature whims. With that in mind, let me begin a new meme...BRING BACK MANTAUR.

That is all.

I'm sorry, but WWE hasn't been interesting to me since they completely fucked up SmackDown last October and added that gay-ass Country Rock opening theme song to it (Offically the WORST SmackDown theme song EVER.)

Did Randy Orton kill Mr. McMahon again? And who the FUCK is Rosa Mendes?

Posted By: M.P. (Guest)  on January 26, 2009 at 01:36 PM

Much like WWE TV has been for the past five months, this PPV was skippable. Cena won, Triple H lasted until the end, no Christian (nee Cage), and Randy fucking Orton won the rumble. Other RVD showing up, this PPV was worth nothing.

This was definitely a year for an upset win, like Shelton Benjamin or someone winning, and for them to get pushed to the main event. I would've marked out if RVD or even MVP would've won it. Hell, MVP *SHOULD'VE* won it and surprised everyone! But fucking Orton? Are you kidding me? WHY???

Yeah right, and this is coming from a grown man that still watches wrestling and posts on a wrestling forum but somehow is cooler than the rest of us here.....
HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!!! Now thats even funnier than RVD!
Um, yeah. Actually this has nothing to do with "being a sheep", its a funny joke to most here and now even funnier.

Yeah, the first Wrestlemania and the ONLY time it happened...WWE is all about buyrates and they wouldn't risk losing out on casual viewers with no WWE Title defense

Posted By: Erik (Guest)  on January 26, 2009 at 02:44 PM

Erik I agree with your point, I guess I just don't consider that title all that important. Thats the problem with the brand split too many champions. I think I'd prefer a TLC match between those 4 then a title match

How disrepected can one person be? I have the record for most eliminations with 11, and I have wrestled in more consecutive rumbles than anyone else ever. More than Stone Cold, more than HBK, but Vince will never let me when. When is it the big red machine's turn to get what I deserve?

So RVD made his return to the Royal Rumble. EPIC WIN! Cain kills Abel, No Christian... could this mean that he re-signed with TNA? No point in bringing him back now after the Hardy/Edge match. Oh yeah...MATT HELPED ADAM!? WTF!? I seriously hope that the company told him to do it. I really do.

You're right AND wrong.

You're correct that no title was defended during the main event at the 1st mania

but

it was Piper and MR.WONDERFUL w/ Bob Orton in their corner VS. Mr.T and Hulk w/Superfly Snuka in their corner.

Hate to correct a Legend but.........just sayin'

Terrible Rumble.

ECW title-match of the night although i think they pushed Swagger too fast
womens title-complete botchfest.they totally fouled up the ending and had to improvise to a sloppy finish
world title-JBL needs to stick to commentating cause he's WAY past his prime
wwe title-made zero sense.#1 why are they hotshotting the titles?thats what killed WCW.#2 why did Jeff put Chavo thru the table?#3why in the world would you break up one of the only remaining teams you have that are reliable? seriously who booked this?

rumble match-honestly ive been watching this match for 15 years and this was probably one of the two worst ive seen.crowd was COMPLETELY dead for it.rumble match is famous for its surprises and we only got RVD?so watered down.stick umaga in there for ziggler.put kennedy in there for JTG.put christian in there for mike knox.this rumble was such a snoozefest this year.and they were hyping up rey mysterio being in it for so long then he got eliminated with zero warning and zero hype.at one point they had so many wrestlers in the ring that all of them were laying on there backs.a complete clusterbomb!did anyone see knox throw HHH into the ropes and there were so many guys he had to jump over stacks of men?heck stick shane mcmahon in there to get some revenge for his dad.something! anything!! and how did they let taker get eliminated by an already eliminated big show?everyone knew orton was gonna win it. miserable fail !

Btw...I hope those RvD comments here on 411 will finally stop...

This sets it up perfectly...Matt and Edge are working together...which leads to Jeff needing to find someone to help him...why not Edge's "brother" Christian?

This leads to Jeff/Christian vs. Matt/Edge on PPV...or all 4 in the elimination Chamber match at No Way Out...amazing shit...

#1-Thank you for giving SWAGGA & Matt more than 3 min. Nice match yall.
#2-Shoulda had Beth retain & have Santino feud w/her & win the title. He kinda loox like a Hindu woman (oops).
#3-Jesus tapdancing Christ Matt almost DIED! What the HELL? (See Lesnar, Brock)
#4-Edge/Joker (I mean Jeff) was a nice safe match for once. Nothing wrong with that. Finally, Matt version 2.0!!! Markadelic!
#5-Cena actually sold like a roody-poo candy ass. Good deal. I actually wanna see JBL-HBK for the title. How's that for twisted?
#6-RVD!RVD!RVD! Kinda sloppy, but we have good weed in Michigan. I understand. Did I see gray hair or was that my bad ass big screen TV?
#7-Gotta have the obligatory HHH spotlight grab, but at least he stepped aside at the end. I still can't believe people cheer him for making cats look bad. At least Steph laid low. Bring on HHH-Edge Hell in a Cell!
#8-To hell with Christian. NO KENNEDY!!! That, sir, is fraught with suck. A pox on thy monkey ass.
#9-The Rumble had more skinned cats than a Chinese restaurant. Ooooooo, is this thing on? Plus just about everybody looked good. Star power is king. (See Rumble, 2005)
#10-The Age of Orton has begun. Bow, bitches. Now he just needs to smile more. When a heel smiles, he looks crazy. (See Piper, Roddy). You could tell last week they had big plans for him when he came out with new orange abs. Where can I get those?
Damn good Rumble. (no kennedy-grrrr)

Honestly, I still think they can work it where Matt *doesn't* turn heel. Yes, I know that he "El Kabong'd" Jeff with the chair and cost him the title. But he was doing it out of protection. He's tired of seeing his brother damn near kill himself week-in and week-out for the title. After the incident before Armageddon and the car accident, plus everything else Jeff's been through, Matt's having some misguided, overly-protective feelings towards his brother.

He's tired of fearing for Jeff in his pursuit of a championship. He's watched him swanton off of one scaffold too many, leaped off the tops of too many cages and ladders, lay sprawled out and helpless on the floor too many times, that he finally stepped in and protected Jeff when his brother showed hat he wouldn't do it himself.

This can still lead to someone else being the attacker before Armageddon or the hit-and-runner (which would be perfect for Christian to still fill and a great way to bring him in). Then they could still have Matt and Jeff vs. Edge and Christian, but with the added angle of Jeff worrying about Matt having his back and Matt trying to play the guardian against Jeff's wishes. I think people will buy into a rivalry much easier than they can a full-on feud between the brothers.

$39.99 later...

Too many people in the ring throughout the Rumble, WAY too many blown spots throughout the entire PPV, and no Christian. Boo.

RVD's return was good though. And Jeff Hardy's facepaint looked more like Vampiro than Sting.

YOu are wrong moron. Repeated Lame Jokes are just that, repeated and Lame. Just because you repeat them does not make them funnier as you go on, just makes them annoying. Its like a three year old who just repeats the same word over and over , grow up Lame-O. ANYbody would be cooler than nerds like you.
