411's ECW on Sci-Fi Report 03.03.09

Kane and The Boogeyman... words can simply not describe that.
Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.
We open with clips from last week's Christian vs. Jack Swagger ECW Title match, before going to the opening video. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker at ringside as they hype up tonight's Main Event of Swagger, Miz, and Morrison vs. Finlay, Christian, and Tommy Dreamer.
Kane vs. Boogeyman
This match is simply to hype See No Evil on Sci-Fi, which was a sickening movie. And the Boogeyman is just sickening. And Kane might be the first person yet to even flinch at the Boogeyman. But he looks a little disturbed as the bell rings. Kane laughs as he looks at the worms. Boogeyman hands him some and Kane decks him with an uppercut. Kane beats down The Boogeyman in the corner and hits a basement dropkick for two as Grisham quotes Two-Face. Kane hits a powerslam, but Boogeyman dodges the top rope clothesline. Boogeyman hits a huge splash in the corner, but eats a huge boot to the face. Boogeyman on the apron and he slings Kane's neck on the top rope. Boogeyman goes up top and he leaps into the waiting hand of Kane. GOZZLE! CHOKESLAM! Kane gets the three count at 2:05.
Winner: Kane
Match Rating: ½* Ugh. That was just brutal.
They hype our Money in the Bank qualifier, which is next, before going to commercial.
Money in the Bank Qualifier – Mark Henry (w. Tony Atlas) vs. Santino Marella (w. Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendez)
Mark Henry in the Money in the Bank match does not sound right. Then again… it could be Santino. Santino has a microphone and he puts over Henry's strength, but puts down his physique. He says he could have been Mr. Italy or a lifeguard on Baywatch. He could have saved hundreds of people, but nobody can save Mark Henry. HA! The bell rings and Santino runs into a bear splash, which drives Santino to the floor. Henry gets distracted by Beth on the floor. Santino back in and he attacks with no effect. Santino off the ropes and he leaps right into Mark Henry… and a World's Strongest Slam! Mark Henry gets the three count at 1:00 and to quote Todd Grisham, "That was easy!"
Winner: Mark Henry
Match Rating: ¼* All that proved is that the mouth of Beth Phoenix had more of an effect on Mark Henry than Santino's fists.
We come back and it is hype video for Evan Bourne time.
We then go to "The Dirty Awards" which is hosted by Miz and Morrison. Evan Bourne wins the Biggest Virgin award over DJ Gabriel and Festus. HA! And of course, they win all of their good awards and just hype The Dirt Sheet.
We go to a Raw Rebound with the Orton/HHH saga continuing with lawyers and a sparking challenge from Triple H.
Alicia Fox (w. DJ Gabriel) vs. Natalya (w. Tyson Kidd)
Alicia and DJ dance down to the ring as we go to commercial. We come back to them still dancing until Jim Neidhart's daughter comes out. The bell rings and they lock up and Natalya shoves her down. Alicia get a side headlock takedown, but Natalya reverses. Alicia elbows out and whips Natalya before hitting a dropkick. Natalya decks Fox with a forearm and catches Alicia in the corner attempting a leapfrog. Alicia gets bodyslammed before being locked in the Octopus Stretch. Fox arm drags out, but gets drilled with a kick to the gut. Alicia catches Natalya running in and splits over into a roll up for two. Alicia tries a clothesline, but Natalya ducks. Natalya catches Alicia leaping and locks in a very high torque sharpshooter, forcing Alicia to tap out at 3:20. After the bell, Tyson Kidd attacks DJ Gabriel, but Gabriel drops Kidd on the top rope and uppercuts him to the floor.
Winner: Natalya
Match Rating: *1/4 Impressive work out of Alicia Fox, but she was over classed and it showed.
We get last night's video for Bill Watts being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Jack Swagger, John Morrison, & The Miz vs. Christian, Tommy Dreamer, Finlay
For once, all the entrances before we go to commercial. I can't tell if Finlay or Christian got a bigger pop. Hornswoggle ducks under the ring as the bell rings and Dreamer starts with Swagger. Swagger quickly tags out to The Miz. Miz fires away on Dreamer, but Dreamer gets a neckbreaker and tags in Finlay. Finlay with an uppercut and an arm wrench into a single leg takedown for two. Miz with an elbow to the gut and he dumps Finlay to the floor. Finlay catches Miz coming in for a baseball slide by using the apron. Morrison comes over and Hornswoggle appears. AIR MIDGET! Miz and Morrison are down as we go to commercial at 2:10.
Back at 5:25 and Finlay works on the leg of The Miz before Christian is tagged in. Christian pounds on The Miz and hits a spinning heel kicks for two. Dreamer tagged back in and he drops an elbow on Miz for a two count. Miz goes to the eyes and tags in Morrison, but he walks into an arm drag. Dreamer hits a huge slam on Morrison and goes up top, but Dreamer hits a leaping roundhouse kick to send Dreamer to the floor. Morrison pounds away and Jack Swagger is tagged in. Dreamer thrown into the turnbuckle hard as the crowd is all over him. Miz tagged back in and he stomps away on Dreamer in the corner. Miz gets a two count and locks in a chin lock. Dreamer backs Miz into the corner, but Miz bulldogs Dreamer into the opposite corner. Tag to Morrison and a double backdrop connects for a two count. Swagger tagged in and Dreamer kicks out again after being decked. Swagger with a go behind and Dreamer elbows up. Dreamer gets a sunset flip for two, but Swagger nails a belly to belly suplex for two. Swagger tries for the leaping splash, but Dreamer gets the knees up. Morrison tagged in, Dreamer breaks, and Christian is tagged in. Christian lights up Morrison and hits a back body drop. Morrison throws Christian into Dreamer and misses the enziguri. Miz charges, but Christian hits the inverted DDT. Christian tries for the Killswitch, but Morrison shoves off. Christian in the corner and he hits a huge Tornado DDT. Dreamer pulls Swagger off the ring apron and Christian nails the headbutt for two. Finlay takes Miz out of the ring and Morrison tries for a springboard enziguri, which Christian ducks. But Swagger was tagged in as Christian nails the Killswitch. Swagger comes up and nails the gutwrench powerbomb for the three count at 12:20.
Winners: Jack Swagger, John Morrison, & The Miz
Match Rating: **1/2 Good, very solid match by these six. The ending is questionable though.
Very disappointing show. IMO ECW sucks whenever they're taped with RAW.

The official Wrestlemania Dark Matchese dark match will be Christian v Kung Fu Naki.
Posted By: TD (Guest) on March 03, 2009 at 11:39 PM
Solid show everyone will bitch about the ending but...everyone would bitch if Christian went over everytime too. So good booking by WWE. As for Mark Henry and Kane being in MITB Kane was in it before a believe and didn't hurt anything and whats wrong with having a couple tankers in it espacially if CM Punk goes over again? Remember before you piss and moan at least try to see the big picture.
Posted By: Paul (Guest) on March 03, 2009 at 11:46 PM
Wow, sounds like a crappy broadcast. So not even all the matches together equal 4 stars, and Henry is in the MITB? Is that a typo or just a real bad joke? He breaks a sweat just coming to the ring, yet he gets pushed to the moon. Wonderful, just freaking wonderful!!!
Posted By: blah (Guest) on March 03, 2009 at 11:48 PM
Clearly they're booking Money in the Bank based on who they feel needs to be on the Mania card rather than who will actually make it a good match. So far, a Kane-Henry-Punk ladder match sounds like negative stars to me.

How was it a solid show? Three horrendous matches and a good main event with the wrong guy getting pinned yeah awesome.
Posted By: ted (Guest) on March 04, 2009 at 12:14 AM
Paul London is Free aka This Guy- I don't think the show really sucked, but I do agree that it's usually a lot better when it's taped w/ SD.
jamille 5150- "but if vince wants a money fued try boogey n taker hell maybe taker can make a good man out of him hell he made batista look like kurt angle" I sincerely hope you were being sarcastic.
blah- Please learn addition, all the matches together eclipsed 4 stars. And Henry's not being "pushed to the moon." Don't really know where you got that from.

Why? There's nothing wrong with Swagger pinning Christian again. They are now 2-2. They can easily book one final match at WM to settle the score.
Paul is right, IWC will bitch for the sake of bitching.

this year's money in the bank looks to be shit as they have 2 guys that are large and probably one of them cannot climb a ladder anyways. MitB is supposed to be the spotfest of the evening with upper midcard guys that can actually WRESTLE or at least flip around. even if henry plays the bubba ray dudley role and lies down for a good 80% of the match, he still robs that stop from actual wrestlers who will put on a decent show like morrison, kendrick, carlito, benjamin, mvp, ron killings, noble, sydal, chavo etc. Kane played the bubba role in the first MitB so he laid down for most of the match which resulted in the match being eons better. having 2 play the role is just wrong.
Last year's MitB personified exactly what it was meant to be, a upper midcarder spotfest that had every person involved in the match having the ability to do an aerial or springboard maneuver. and it didn't hurt that CM PUNK won either.

Mark henry in money in the bank.....there could be a holy shit moment if he's tossed off the top of the ladder by the drive by or pay dirt, but it'll still suck.
RVD Will frog splash him from the top of the ladder, i hope it won't be a one shot deal

"All that proved is that the mouth of Beth Phoenix had more of an effect on Mark Henry than Santino's fists."
I can understand that. I always prefer a blowjob from Beth than a handjob from Santino.

Alicia Fox managed to impress me; for someone who's (as far as I know) not very experienced in the ring, she made a competent showing against Natalya, who of course was very impressive (and snapped off an amazing Sharpshooter).

Maybe one day.... one day... all the 30 year-old manchildren bitching about how Christian is being "misused" on ECW will actually have sex with a real person and their other ball will finally drop.

I'd say 2-2 as the divas match was pretty good imo

mark henry in a ladder match? and KAne as well? WTF ?! the most interesting match every WM just became really bad
Posted By: hiro (Guest) on March 04, 2009 at 06:59 AM
There are still enough decent guys in the MITB match to make it good, and who knows, there may just be a HOLY SHIT~! moment if Henry takes a huge bump. I'll reserve judgement until I see it

"this year's money in the bank looks to be shit as they have 2 guys that are large and probably one of them cannot climb a ladder anyways. "
Yeah, they're big so they can't climb a ladder. Christ, you're retarded.

I think the divas should have rated higher than Kane/Boogey this time, are you sure that rating wasn't just a kneejerk anti-women's wrestling reaction? Natalya = Awesome (though not "Beth Awesome")

You asked so I will tell you Christian pinned Swagger twice clean already and now Swagger has one clean pin on Christian and one opportunist pin. From a booking stand point this show Christian can beat Swagger that while Swagger can beat Christian he is beatable and not confident he can beat Christian. Also why make the champ look uber weak going into WM and having Christian beat him?? Even just having Christian walk in and win the ECW title devalues what they've built it up to thus far and ergo makes Christian look like an even bigger chump beating a lame duck champion then beating a strong champion.
Posted By: Paul (Guest) on March 04, 2009 at 09:45 AM
Another good main event but that is the only positive thing I can say about this show.
Posted By: Spaghett (Guest) on March 04, 2009 at 12:54 PM
I don't think people are saying Swagger should have gotten pinned, but there probably just saying either Finlay or one of the MNM members should have been pinned. Since Dreamer has that storyline going and desperately needs momentum.

By Bye Boogie Man. We Wish you the best. Maybe you can join Booker in TNA
Posted By: The JAP (Guest) on March 04, 2009 at 04:42 PM
So far based on his show and reading the SmackDown spoilers they are booking the mitb based on people who could realistically hold a world title and not just who could fall from the highest heights.

I don't care if it sounds immature, but I laughed so damn much at that.

Is it just me or is Natayla severly underrated in the hotness department?
I'm just thoroughly unimpressed with Tyson Kidd. He doesn't really leap out at me. And the thought of a program between him and DJ Gabriel (who looks like a walking Wellness violation) doesn't exactly set my world on fire.
