Episode #71

* FCW Florida Heavyweight Champion Justin Angel defeated Michael Tarver to retain the title after hitting the 450 splash. Heath Slater was the special referee but was accidentally knocked out by Tarver.

Notes for 1/14 tapings:
* Bryan Danielson & Eve signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans before the show.
* I am interested to see where Michael Tarver’s character goes from here. His mic work since adopting this persona has been terrific and his matches against Angel were some of his best work in recent weeks.
* The Banderas-Slater No DQ match has really entertaining and step away from FCW’s norm by incorporating chairs and some sick bumps.
* Skip Sheffield made light of the Tyker Reks airplane incident during their match by commenting that Tyler was afraid to fly.
* Sheffield’s happy-go-lucky Texan gimmick is incredibly over at FCW and if packaged properly (vignettes, backstage interviews, etc) might have a chance at the next level.
* The Danielson-Kaval match was probably as good a match as you will see at FCW. They were given about 10 minutes to work so it wasn’t the ROH epic match that Danielson or Low Ki fans might be used to but it was still the best match of the evening. Obviously Danielson measures his work by a totally different standard than most others because if he was rusty the fans could not tell at all.
* Fans were given 10 FCW trading cards upon entering the arena.
* A WWE PPV chair signed by the Undertaker was randomly given away to a lucky fan.
* FCW referee Rod Vista was sporting WWE patches on his referee’s attire because of his work on this past week’s shows.
* Roderick Strong, Pat Buck, and local indy worker Jordan O’Neal were among those in attendance.
* Wade Barrett & ECW’s Byron Saxton provided the commentary

1/7/10 FCW Arena Show Results:
* Jimmy & Jules Uso (w/Mia Mancini) defeated Johnny Prime & Wes Brisco (w/Jillian Beyor)
* Duke Rotundo (w/Courtney Taylor) beat Heath Slater (w/Naomi Knight)
* Wade Barrett pinned Dino Carter
* Michael Tarver defeated Alberto Banderas after interference from Heath Slater
Donny Marlow pinned Bo Rotundo
* Skip Sheffield & Titus O’Neill (w/AJ Lee) beat Gabriel & Dawson Alexander (w/Penny Cash)
* Kaval pinned Alex Riley
* The Fortunate Sons (Joe Hennig & Brett DiBiase) defeated the FCW Florida Tag Team Champions Dude Busters (Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft w/Curt Hawkins) in a non-title match when DiBiase made Barreta submit to the Million Dollar Dream. Ted DiBiase’s (Brett & Ted’s dad) music hit and he came out to give Hawkins the Million Dollar Dream while Barreta was tapping out in the ring.

Notes for 1/7 show:
* Jennifer Hudson was among those in attendance.
* This was the FCW debut of Jules Uso and the final FCW matches for Gabriel and Dino Carter.
* They did a totally forgettable Abraham Washington Show hosted by Liviana.
