CHIKARA Results 10.07.11: Burlington, NC

October 10, 2011 | Posted by Larry Csonka

– CHIKARA made their second trip to Burlington, NC on Friday, October 7th. The crowd was close to the debut show (around 250, but that fills the small venue) and the crowd was into the action all night.

1. Jigsaw defeated Obariyon. Not a bad match, and the crowd really enjoyed Jigsaw.

2. Icarus defeated Hallowicked in a 12 Large Tournament Match. The crowd did the usual harassment of Icarus, not wanting him to take off his jacket, due to the tattoo that covers his back and that no one likes. They also worked that into the match, and Hallowicked was able to get the jacket back onto him several times.

– Icarus challenged Greg Irons to a match at the company’s November iPPV, claiming that Irons did not suffer from Cerebral Palsy.

3. Kana defeated Jessie McKay. McKay was a last minute replacement for Madison Eagles, who was unable to perform, due to an injury. Kana dominated the bout, and got a great reaction from the crowd.

4. Eddie Kingston defeated Kobald. Kingston dominated the bout.

During intermission, Ophidian took photos for free in the ring with anyone that wanted one, while others were available for autographs around the merchandise table.

5. Mike Quackenbush def. Sara Del Rey in a 12 Large Tournament Match. This was an excellent match, which saw Quackenbush work the leg and knee of Del Rey, while working a very subtle heel style at times.

6. Tim Donst, Delirious, Tursas, & Jakob Hammermeier of the BDK defeated The Colony & Ophidian. Ophidian took Jessie McKay’s spot in the match. Ophidian took the pin, and was upset with the loss and left the Colony at ringside. Since Amasis has been out, Ophidian has had a bad run of luck, which continued at the show.

7. UltraMantis Black defeated Vin Gerard via forfeit in a 12 Large Tournament Match. They stated that Gerard as not there due to travel issues. Archibald Peck then came to the ring and announced his new mascot, COLT CABUNNY!

8. UltraMantis Black defeated Archibald Peck. Mantis was dominant for the most part, but Peck is an excellent over the top heel.

9. Team FIST of Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano def. Osaka Pro’s Atsushi Kotoge & Daisuke Harada to retain the CHIKARA Campeonatos de Parejas. The teams split the first two falls of the match. Icarus then came out, and interfered, which allowed Taylor and Gargano to keep the belts.

This was a very fun show, with Quackenbush vs. Del Rey being the match of the night and the main event close behind. Overall a better show than the debut in May, due to the show being a full CHIKARA event roster wise, with important matches to the current storylines in the company. The face roster was around after the conclusion for more autographs and picture opportunities.
