From the Bowery: WWE Survivor Series 2011

From the Bowery: Survivor Series 2011
-Nov. 20, 2011
-Madison Square Garden, New York, New York

Announce Team: Michael Cole, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Booker T

-The opening video package starts out putting over the 25th anniversary celebration (actually 24th, but at least consistent with what they said about WrestleMania XXV) of Survivor Series and morphs into a hype video for the return of the Rock and the tag match.

-John Laurinaitis is out to let everyone know his title and he shoves this being 25th anniversary of Survivor Series down our throat. He also mentions this is his 10 year anniversary of being with the WWE and tells everyone to enjoy the show.

WWE United States Title: Dolph Ziggler © (w/ Vickie Guerrero) vs. John Morrison

-Most assumed Morrison was on his was out with the WWE thanks to being pussy whipped, so he was quickly given a slight push and receives this title match. Dolph is doing double duty tonight, but we will get to his other match later. Cole gets everyone up to speed here as Morrison ended a long losing streak by beating Ziggler in a non-title match to earn this shot. The crowd immediately starts a “We Want Ryder” chant and reminds me how fun shows in MSG are. This should be no different. A mat wrestling sequence to start which is dominated by Ziggler who was a kick ass wrestler in High School at St Edwards in Ohio and then at Kent State University. Morrison does a little better on the second go round, but Ziggler again gains control and hits a dropkick. He takes things right back to the mat again as the crowd continues to chant for Ryder. There was a time when Vince took opinions of the MSG crowd seriously and no coincidence that Ryder was given US Title the next PPV, but since then he’s been booked as a mindless, slasher victim in Kane’s horror movie. I still hold out hope for the guy however even if I am not as big of a fan as most of the IWC. I see a lot more promise with Ziggler and no shocking he is one getting WWE Title matches. A nice reversal sequence leads to Dolph getting catapulted into the top turnbuckle and he bails to the floor. Morrison follows him out with a corkscrew plancha, but Vickie distracts him enough for Ziggler to hit a spinning neck breaker. He grounds Morrison with a reverse chinlock and that gives the crowd to once again chant for Ryder, and it’s a pretty damn loud chant. I kind of feel for Morrison here as at one point he was the golden boy crowds wanted to see get a push and now the MSG crowd couldn’t care less. Then again they are smart enough to now his career is much like Melina in a meeting with Batista: screwed. Morrison fights back to his feet and gets a few clotheslines before hitting his neckbreaker for two. Ziggler uses the ref to get a small break, but he ends up eating the flying chuck for a near fall. Morrison tries for a reverse neck breaker, but Ziggler floats through and hooks a sleeper, but Morrison immediately reverses to one of his own. Dolph fights out, but gets caught with a DDT for two as Vickie puts Ziggler’s foot on the bottom rope. Charles Robinson actually catches her doing it though and tosses her from ringside to a big pop from the crowd. They serenade her with the “Hey, Hey, Hey, Goodbye” song as back in the ring Ziggler and Morrison start firing off near falls that ends with Ziggler hitting a running fame-asser for two. Some good stuff there and the crowd show their appreciation before immediately chanting for Ryder again. Heh! Ziggler looks for the Zig-Zag, but Morrison counters and hits a running knee to the head. He tries for Starship Pain, but Dolph gets the knees up and the Zig-Zag finishes at 10:42.

Winner and Still US Champion: Dolph Ziggler via pin at 10:42
-Great choice for the opener here as Morrison did his job of putting Ziggler over cleanly. Things started a little slow and ended kind of quickly once they started finding a groove, but with Morrison on his way out no need for him to get too much offense in. They did enough to make you believe Morrison had an outside shot, but didn’t do anything to hurt Ziggler. ***

-After the match Vickie hands Dolph the mic as he cuts a promo for sole purpose of letting crowd chant for Ryder once again. Dolph’s music starts again, but it cuts to Ryder’s music and the crowd goes nuts as he rushes to the ring. Ziggler cuts him off and the crowd is pissed, but doesn’t last long as Ryder fights back and hits the Rough Ryder.

WWE Divas Championship: Lumberjill Match: Beth Phoenix © vs. Eve Torres

-Cole actually does a good job of once again setting up this match by letting us know Even won the shot at the title by winning a battle royal a few weeks earlier. Sure, he may suck as an announcer, but at least giving me the story behind why the challengers are here. Natalya comes out with Phoenix and then joins the rest of the lumberjills. Eve shakes her ass and Beth is apparently disgusted as she hits the floor. She gets chased back into the ring by the divas on the floor and Eve hits a standing moonsault. Natalya grabs Eve while she stands on the apron and that gives Beth an opening. She catapults Eve throat first into the bottom rope and then hooks a chin lock. The once hot crowd is kind of bored as Eve makes her fiery comeback, but gets caught with a knee to the back. Beth looks for the Glam Slam, but Eve counters to a triangle choke with her legs. Cool! Natalya distracts Eve again and Beth gets a roll-up for two. She reverses to one of her own, but Beth is out at two as well. A kick sends Beth to the mat and Eve heads up top, but Beth cuts her off. They battle on the middle rope and Beth kills Eve with a Super Glam Slam for the win at 4:33.

Winner and Still Divas Champion: Beth Phoenix via pin at 4:33
-Not much to see here, but at least no botches and the finish was pretty fantastic. The crowd, while a little dead, seemingly sided with Beth and popped for the kick ass finish. Eve is improving though nobody can really touch Beth outside of Natalya and sadly they are on the same side. I’m just waiting for the return of Kharma to see some bitches get killed.

-Otunga interrupts Punk as he gets ready for his WWE Title Match against Del Rio. Not much else really to see here.

-The Rock cuts a kick ass promo as he reminds everyone this is the building and PPV where he made his debut 15 years ago. Damn, it’s really been 15 years. I hate when I get reminded that I am getting older. He goes through all his catchphrases and all the titles he was won in his career. He even makes fun of his haircut and wrestling gear at the time of his debut. He glosses over Truth and Miz because really they’re just there to eat the loss, and he targets Cena. He promises to shoot a bolt of lightning up Cena’s ovulating lady parts and that draws a “lady parts” chant from the crowd. Ha! He ends by singing “New York, New York” with the crowd joining him. He promises boots to asses all night long if we smell what he’s cooking.

Classic Survivor Series Elimination Match: Team Barrett (Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, and Hunico) vs. Team Orton (Randy Orton, Sin Cara, Sheamus, Mason Ryan, and Kofi Kingston)

-The MSG crowd seemingly likes everyone involved here outside Sin Cara, Hunico, and Mason Ryan. The rest all got a decent reaction with Kofi getting a pretty good response even with his lack of a push following what was supposed to be a break out feud against Orton a while back. Speaking of Orton he gets a great response as Cole spouts more history in regards to Orton being the King of these Survivor Series Elimination Matches. He was the sole survivor on 2 occasions and winner 4 times total. Kofi and Dolph start things for their teams and Dolph hits a dropkick for two. The reason Dolph is pulling double duty is that he is a replacement for the injured Christian. Kofi tries for the SOS, but Dolph counters so Kofi makes the tag to Orton. He hits a quick RKO and Dolph is gone at 1:32. Well, I guess they can play up that Dolph had an earlier match and then was attacked by Ryder, but damn did he look kind of weak there. Even the crowd seems kind of shocked that he was eliminated so easily. The heels regroup on the floor, but Orton breaks up the huddle and clothesline Barrett to the floor. All hell breaks loose as everyone gets involved. Sin Cara and Kofi hit stereo somersault dives over the top rope and that ends Sin Cara’s night as he legit ruptures his patella tendon. Latest word is that he is out for 6-9 months. Everyone stands there as we see that Sin Cara totally botched the move and that’s what led to the injury. I kind of feel bad for the guy as he had so much hype and for whatever reason has been snake bitten. The crowd wants Ryder, but instead we are just informed that Sin Cara is out of the match at 3:41 and that prompts a “you fucked up” chant from the crowd. Classy! Mason Ryan has a go with Cody and the crowd is on the side of Rhodes. Ryan moves pretty well, but Cody opts to run instead of facing the monster. He gets back in the ring and then tags out to Hunico on a funny spot. Hunico has no luck against Ryan and Kofi ends up getting the tag. He has more success against Kofi and gets a near fall. He makes the tag to Barrett and he grounds Kofi with a chinlock. Really? We have multiple men on the apron and we have to see a chinlock. Thankfully it doesn’t last long as Ryan gets the tag. Hunico has another go with him and Ryan dominates with his strength. He gorilla presses Hunico and drops him with what was Warrior’s set-up to the splash. Rhodes gets a blind tag and hit Ryan with the Cross Rhodes to a big pop. That sends Ryan packing at 8:50 and the crowd starts a pretty loud Cody chant. Again, WWE usually listens to what MSG crowd wants and not shockingly Cody seems to be a good choice for break-out star this coming year. Sheamus finally enters the match as I believe Swagger is only one left to officially get in the ring. Sheamus mauls Cody in the corner with some heavy blows and gets a 2 count off what is usually a killer finishing move in this type of match: a clothesline. Sheamus pounds of piss out of Cody’s chest and gets another two count off a suplex. Barrett takes Sheamus to the floor and then gets the legal tag. He hits quickly and makes the tag to Hunico. Cole is all about the history tonight as he namedrops Shawn Michaels and the 97 Screwjob and Shawn’s winning the World Title at MSG in the 2002 Elimination Chamber. Cole is actually tolerable when he isn’t trying to get himself over and is just spouting history and context. Barrett heads back in the match and the hot tag is made to Kofi. He kicks anything that moves including a teeter totter kick to Swagger on the apron, but Barrett casually boots him in the face and hits Wasteland to end his night at 14:04. Orton enters as his team is down 4-2 and Barrett gets out of there with a tag to Hunico. He actually gets to take Orton out with a suicide dive and then makes the tag to Swagger who finally gets into the match nearly fifteen minutes after the opening bell. Orton takes a quality ass kicking from the heels who keep making quick tags. Cody gets his shot and gets a close near fall. He goes to work in the arm as things begin to slow down just a bit. Randy fights to his feet, and counters a bulldog, but just tossing Cody off of him. Sheamus gets the tag and he goes to work on Sheamus in the corner. He hits a running clothesline and then comes off the top with a headbutt. He hits the Irish Curse and preps for the Celtic Cross, but Swagger is slides off to avoid. Sheamus again goes crazy on Swagger as he is tied in the ropes and the ref disqualifies him at 18:30 for not breaking before count of five. The crowd is not happy with that at all and Orton is left 4 on one. That’s kind of a neat story as Orton is left against crazy odds, but with his history in this match, you still buy his chances. Sheamus kills Swagger with a Brogue Kick before leaving and Orton crawls into the ring to get the pin at 19:33. Cody is the one to pick the bones of Orton as he stomps a mud hole in the corner. Orton explodes out of the corner with a clothesline, hits the quick powerslam, and drops Cody with the rope assisted DDT. He preps for the RKO, but Barrett distracts him long enough for Cody to make the tag to Hunico. I have a feeling this isn’t going to end well for Hunico as he seems to be setting up a springboard move. Sure enough he spring into the ring and gets caught with the RKO to finish him at 21:38. Still, who ever thought Hunico would get over 20 minutes of PPV time in the WWE? Barrett comes into the match and gets caught with inverted headlock backbreaker and preps again for the RKO on Barrett. However, Cody runs in and while he does eat the RKO, the distraction gives Barrett the opportunity to hit Wasteland to give his team the win at 22:10.

Winners and Survivors: Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes via Barrett pin on Orton at 22:10
-Solid Survivor Series match and I wonder how much they had to change things with Sin Cara’s injury. Obviously it didn’t change the outcome as they made the right call with someone finally beating Orton in this kind match. Barrett was obvious choice considering his feud with Orton, but was nice to see Cody get the win as well. It was also refreshing to see Orton not overcome the odds and numbers game actually mean something. ***

-We recap the ring imploding at Night of Champions between Show and Henry. In a nice touch they show the ring crew reinforcing the ring for tonight and Cole informs us that they took all steps to make sure this ring won’t implode for the rematch.

World Heavyweight Championship: Mark Henry © vs. The Big Show

-Henry gets a better reaction from the MSG than Show during the in ring introductions. Just goes to show what can happen when you actually book someone like a monster and have him dominate people. We start slow as Henry stalls and Cole reminds us they fought earlier at Money in the Bank. Any coincidence these two fought at the PPV of the year and here they are again on another PPV that has received praise? Probably, but I need something to discuss while Henry continues to stall. The crowd starts to turn as they are getting restless with all the stalling from Henry. Finally Show just mauls him and ends up costing him as Henry hits a chop block. That gives Henry something to target and he goes to work on the ankle. This match probably doesn’t need a submission struggle this early, but it is sound strategy from storyline standpoint since Henry broke Show’s ankle earlier in the year. Show fights to his feet, but can’t ankle doesn’t give him much support and he gets mowed down with a clothesline. Henry tries for a slam, but Show counters to a DDT for two. The crowd starts a “Daniel Bryan” which marks second time the crowd has chanted for someone not booked on the show. I think the WWE actually took the hint at the next PPV. Out of nowhere Henry hits the World’s Strongest Slam, but Show is out at two. A splash follows for two and a elbow drop gets the same. Now the crowd chants for Undertaker as they are looking for anyone to bring life to this match. They brawl on the floor and Show gets sent into the steel post. Henry charges at Show and tackles him through the ringside barricade. Nice spot, but after you blow up the ring at the last PPV seems a little tame. Again though works well in the story as Henry won in similar fashion at SummerSlam, but this time Show (unlike Sheamus) beats the count back into the ring. They fight in the corner and the tease the superplex spot, but Show fights out and the crowd boos. A superkick of all things knocks Henry down and all that does is start a chant for HBK. Show heads u p top and now the crowd comes to live as this could be pretty interesting. I am actually kind of scared for Show here as I am having Sid flashbacks. Show comes off with the biggest fucking elbow drop you will ever see, but Henry is out at two. That is definitely one way to get the crowd back into the match. Sure it didn’t have the grace of Randy Savage, but props to Show for that one. On cue the crowd starts a Randy Savage chant and with all the name dropping I am thinking any tag combination of Savage/Taker/Bryan/Michaels match would have kicked all kinds of ass. It’s also bittersweet to hear the crowd at MSG chant Savage’s name one more time. Show misses the punch and Henry opts to get the hell out of there with his title by kicking Show in his Big Show. The low blow brings a DQ at 13:00. After the match Henry looks to break Show’s ankle again with a steel chair, but he gets out of the way and ends up hitting the KO punch. The crowd goes nuts with a Daniel Bryan chant as they really want him to cash in, but doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Sure would have been a great moment, but I can understand as they didn’t want it to get buried by result of Punk/Del Rio and the Rock’s return. Show continues the assault as he seemingly breaks Henry’s ankle with the chair.

Winner: The Big Show via DQ at 13:00
-Shitty finish after they started to build something to a respectable match, but I guess feud has to continue. The elbow spot was tremendous and the crowd made things a little better, but still not great. *1/2

-Barrett has his interview backstage interrupted by Awesome Truth. They bitch about being overshadowed by Rock and Cena, and Truth bitches at the crowd for the “What” chants. Truth is fucking hilarious as he tells of a conversation he had with some pigeons. Even the MSG crowd breaks out in laughter after that one.

-Video recap for the WWE Title match that shows how Punk secured the title match: locking ADR in the anaconda vice and forcing him to relent. Effective!

WWE Championship: Alberto Del Rio © vs. CM Punk

-ADR gets his normal ring entrance for Ricardo Rodriguez and Punk one ups him by having Howard Finkel come out as his personal ring announcer. That’s pretty genius actually and a nice moment for the Fink as the crowd roars in appreciation for him and all he has meant to the fans over the years. Booker T sums it up best when he said he knew he made it when The Fink announced him. Obviously MSG in way into CM Punk and this should be pretty fantastic actually as I look for both guys to do all they can to try to steal the show from the Tag Main Event. I don’t think they can steal show from Rock’s return, but at least will be fun to see them try. More history from Cole as he lets us know the WWE Title has changed hands 15 times at MSG (more than any other arena). Immediately the crowd chants “We want ice cream,” and I agree with them. Next they opt to chant for Colt Cabana as this crowd just loves trying to show how smart they are. Punk controls with an armbar after hitting a hiptoss. For some reason a few people in the crowd chants “Let’s Go Cena,” and rest chants “CM Punk.” Weird! Del Rio bails to the floor regain his faculties and unlike Henry he heads back in and goes right for Punk. He ends up getting beat down in the corner, and hit with a dropkick. Once again Del Rio bails to the floor, but gets no time to breathe as Punk comes out with a Suicide Dive that nearly takes out Ricardo as well. ADR gets sent back into the ring and Punk comes off the top with a crossbody for two. He looks for the Vince, but ADR fights out and sends Punk into 6-1-9 position. Del Rio lands an elbow to the back of the head and Ricardo gets in a cheap shot for good measure. That only serves to piss off Punk and he gives chase on the floor. That plays into the hands of Del Rio as he flies out with a dropkick. He goes to work on Punk’s left arm by slamming it into the ring steps. Now Punk gets sent into the ring and Del Rio comes off the top with a double axe. I was waiting for another “Savage” chant, but no dice. Punk creates some space, but charges into a boot in the corner. ADR then charges and nearly gets caught with the GTS, but floats over and brings Punk down by the arm. Nice! Punks fights back to him feet and he is the one to get his boots up in the corner, but the charges into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. The crowd is starting to die on them as they just don’t seem to be into all this offense from Del Rio. Another dropkick is missed this time and Del Rio takes a sweet bump to the floor. Now the crowd gets back into things as they rally Punk to his feet. ADR is one step ahead as he drops Punk throat first on the top rope, but then gets caught with a boot from Punk as he charges back in the ring. The start trading blows in the middle of the ring and that gives us the crowd the chance to boo or cheer. Punk starts firing off kicks and hits the running knee/bulldog combo out of the corner for two. Punk heads on the apron and delivers the springboard clothesline for another near fall. Punk tells everyone it’s time for Del Rio to go to sleep, but ADR counters to a backstabber for two. Punk gets a fluke roll-up for two, but then gets caught with a running enziguiri after missing a knee in the corner. That gets Del Rio another close count and the he hits the backstabber again, but this time on the arm of Punk. Nasty! The head up top where Alberto looks for a superplex, but Punk headbutts out and the crowd roars as they want a Randy Savage elbow. Del Rio gets to his feet and crotches Punk which draws great heat from the crowd. Del Rio follows up with a sick sounding kick to Punk’s arm, but he misses a charge in the corner and hits shoulder first into the post. Now Punk has a second go with the elbow and this time it hits to a massive pop from the crowd. Still not nearly as graceful as what Savage has done in the past, but awesome none the less. Punk tunes up the bad as the crowd is thinking Sweet Chin Music, but just letting us know it is time for GTS. Once again though Del Rio counters by elbowing the injured arm, then ducks a head kick, and locks in the cross armbreaker. The crowd wills Punk towards the ropes and he gets the break with his feet. Del Rio is beyond frustrated as he charges and nearly gets caught with the GTS, but once again counters by sending Punk into Ricardo. ADR gets a roll-up for a hot near fall, but gets his skull kicked in for two. That proves to be end for Del Rio though as he exposes his arm when he kicks out and that gives Punk the chance to lock in the Anaconda Vice. Del Rio taps rather quickly and we have a New WWE Champion at 17:14. Punk stage dives into the front row a few times as he celebrates with the MSG crowd. Nice touch!

Winner and New WWE Champion: CM Punk via tap-out at 17:14
-Great match here and I loved the story of Del Rio having an answer for the GTS at every turn, but making one mistake that left him vulnerable to the Anaconda Vice. These two mesh pretty well with their styles (hard kicks and submissions), and made for some high quality wrestling down the stretch. ***3/4

-Video package for the Main Event (really what the hell was Rock thinking with that hair in 1996?) and kind of pissed they broke up Awesome Truth soon after this. Even if was because Truth fucked up a wellness test.

The Rock and John Cena vs. Awesome Truth

-This would be the Rock’s first match since the kick ass handicap tag match at WrestleMania XX. Coincidentally that was also in MSG and featured Rock in the ring with Flair and 2 guys whose careers would take off: Batista and Randy Orton. The crowd boos the piss out of Cena as expected and even he laughs as he tell the cameraman that he is New York’s favorite son. That reaction is all the more fascinating considering that at WrestleMania XX when Rock had his last match; Cena was the show opener and received one of the more positive reactions from the MSG crowd. The Rock gets a massive reaction when his music hits and even bigger response when he steps foot through the curtain. The Rock is also fucking ripped here and looks to be in fantastic shape. This should be a lot of fun considering the personalities involved and the hot ass crowd. Damn, even Cole gets deep as he mentions the WrestleMania fact I talked about earlier as he calls its 2 generations passing each other. The Rock starts and that’s probably the smart thing as Cena would have been booed even more so if he started. The Rock catches Miz with an armdrag and then he takes Truth down with one as well. He gets a two count off a cradle and the Rock erupts as the heels bail to the floor. Rock stares at Cena afterwards as the crowd chants “you still got it.” No shit! Truth asks for the tag as he wants to go one on one with The Great One, and for whatever reason I am more pumped about these two doing battle over Miz/Rock. They do a sequence off an arm wringer, and Truth gets a chance to show off, but gets caught with a right hand. Cena charges in after Miz and that costs his team as the ref is out of position when Rock hits Truth with a picture perfect perfect-plex. Cena pleads his case and the crowd chants “Fruity Pebbles.” Post Cereal has to be thrilled with all the attention. The Miz calls out Cena and the crowd just hates that idea as they want Rock in the ring forever. Fantastic! The Rock tags out in aggressive fashion and next up “you can’t wrestle.” The fact that Cena has been involved in the Match of the Year a few times would seem to indicate otherwise, but that’s just me. Cena takes Miz out rather easily and the crowd lets him know that he still sucks. Truth comes back and fares no better as Cena preps for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but he lets the Rock know he can’t see him. That draw the Rock into the ring and the partners stare down and Truth nails Cena from behind. Cena is now your fruity pebble in peril as Miz hits a nice running boot to the face. The quick tag is made to Truth and he hooks a reverse chinlock which should give crowd a chance to think of some more creative things to say. Cena fights to his feet, but gets sent shoulder first into the post. The little kids start a “Let’s Go Cena” chant and the men in the crowd shout them down rather easily with a “Cena sucks” chant. The Truth takes Cena down with a head scissors and MSG wants Rocky. Cena gets sent to the floor and Truth talks trash to the crowd and I smirk as someone in the crowd screams for Truth to tell those pigeons who’s their boss. Awesome! The fascinating thing is that while Truth and Miz are the heels they get a decent face pop when the kick Cena’s ass and then get booed out of the building when in there with Rock. The announcers play up the fact that The Rock is just standing on the apron and not doing anything to really try to save Cena. I call it playing by the rules of the match. Cena gets close to making a tag to tease the crowd, but Truth pulls him back into the opposite corner and Miz gets the tag. The crowd is kind of subdued as they are just waiting for the hot tag to the Rock. Cena starts to fire back and gets booed with each punch he lands and then the crowd erupts when Miz cuts him off with a clothesline. The Truth comes back and hits a leg drop after doing a split and then heads up top. He takes a little too long though and Cena rolls through a cross body and tries to counter to an AA, but Truth lands on his feet and hits a front suplex for two. Back in comes the Miz and hits another running boot and taunts The Rock for good measure. Idiot! He tries for a third running boot and Cena counters to the STF, but Truth comes in to stop that noise. Nice little touch there as it shows that Truth and Miz are there for each other while Rock has just stood on the apron while Cena gets murdered. Truth gets the tag again, and gets hit with the AA out of desperation. A cover doesn’t follow as Cena has nothing left so he crawls to the Rock, but Miz lands a cheap shot on the Rock. The Truth then delivers a clothesline on the floor and drops Rock on the ring barrier. Now the Rock tries to inject himself in the match, and the ref won’t let that happen. Cena continues to take an ass kicking as Awesome Truth hit him with a double flapjack. Truth gets a front facelock this time, but misses another break dancing leg drop, and again Cena starts to crawl across the ring. Finally the hot tag is made and Rock destroys anything that moves. He drills Truth with a Rock Bottom and locks Miz in the sharpshooter to a great reaction from the crowd. The Miz struggles, but gets pulled back to the middle of the ring. Truth hits a DDT on the Rock to break, but gets taken to the floor by Cena. That leaves the Miz alone with the Rock and he actually dominates the Rock and talks trash while doing so. Too bad for Miz though as he charges and gets dropped with a spinebuster. That sets up the People’s Elbow to a massive reaction and that’s enough to end this at 25:36. Cena applauds from the aisle and leaves with a smile on his face as the Rock soaks in the cheers. The Rock quiets the crowd and calls Cena back to the ring. Like an idiot Cena accepts and he gets roasted by the crowd. The Rock talks some and then poses on the middle rope to a thunderous ovation. Cena does the same and once again gets roasted as apparently this is a contest. The Rock just shakes his head at Cena and the crowd starts a boot to asses chant. Again the Rock poses on the middle rope and again the crowd goes crazy. Got to love the Rock rubbing the reaction he is getting into Cena’s face. The Rock’s music starts again, but stops as the two come face to face. Cena tries to walk away and that’s proves to be a mistake as Rock turns him around and nails a Rock Bottom. Cena sells the Rock Bottom and mouths “no more nice guy” before exiting for good. The Rock eats up the cheers again and thanks the fans as the show goes off the air.

Winners: The Rock and John Cena via Rock pin on the Miz @ 25:36
-The match was booked rather well as the Rock was clearly the main attraction. The Miz and Truth did a great job with their roles and Cena took a solid ass kicking. I do think the crowd got a little annoyed at the prolonged heat segment (which drew no heat since Cena was biggest “heel” in the match), and were just waiting for the Rock to get back in the ring. It did what it needed to though and gave Rock a chance to get back in the ring and keeps thing moving towards WrestleMania. ***

The 411: Strong show here and easily one of the better PPVs of 2011. Not on level with Money in the Bank, but still very good. Shows at MGS always have added advantage of a hot crowd and this was no exception. The WWE Title match was fantastic and The Rock was, well The Rock so easily a win here.
