World Wrestling Federation presents Insurrextion
Date:
5/6/2000
From: London, England

Opening Contest: WWF Lightweight Champion Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn vs. Too Cool: Saturn and Malenko go on the attack before the bell. Sexay powerslams Saturn while Hotty sends Malenko into the guard railing. Saturn is driven down to the canvas by Too Cool. Hotty and Saturn legally start the bout with Saturn delivering a forearm shot to get the advantage. Malenko enters to hit a side Russian leg sweep on Hotty. Double clothesline on Hotty to keep control for the Radicals. Hotty rolls Malenko up but Saturn pulls the referee out. Sexay enters to get a few shots in on Saturn. Saturn nearly costs his team the win by shoving Malenko into a roll up. Malenko recovers to clothesline Hotty. Malenko is put on the top rope by Hotty. Scotty hits a superplex! Saturn and Sexay get the tag with Sexay cleaning house with right hands and slams. Sexay hits a double clothesline from the middle rope. Hotty delivers a face buster on Saturn and hits the Worm on both opponents! Saturn accidentally clotheslines Malenko and is sent into Dean in the corner. Malenko lands on Saturn's groin and Sexay hits a top rope leg drop for the win. (*1/2. Nothing special of a match, really. It was rather basic and the heels weren't given much to showcase their stuff. The match was set up to hype up the issues between the Radicals for than a good match.) After the match, Saturn shoves Malenko and they begin to brawl on the canvas.

Vince McMahon appears on the top of the aisleway to cut a promo. He is disappointed that the Rock is the new WWF World Champion. He believes that if there was a fair match then Triple H would still be the WWF World Champion. He lists all the things that he didn't like such as his wife, Earl Hebner and Steve Austin. McMahon has a plan for tonight, though. Vince puts down England saying nothing important happens there. McMahon is very confident that there will be a new WWF World Champion and the champion will be a McMahon family member!

Second Contest: Kane vs. Bull Buchanan:Kane clotheslines Bull and follows up with right hands. Bull lands on his feet on a backdrop to plant Kane with a DDT but Kane doesn't stay down long. Bull leaps off the top to clothesline Kane and hit a scissors kick followed by a leg drop. Kane drops Bull with a big boot moments later. Bull is caught leaping off the middle rope and is met with a chokeslam. Kane covers and that's it. (*. At least Buchanan was able to get a few moves in, but Kane dominated this one.)

Backstage, Triple H is talking to Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie isn't sure that her father meant he wanted Triple H to win the WWF World Championship tonight.

Third Contest: Bradshaw vs. Road Dogg: Bradshaw attacks Dogg before the match but Tori distracts him to allow Dogg to recover. Bradshaw slams Dogg face first into the ring steps. The APA double team Dogg on the floor and the referee tosses Faarooq from ringside! Bradshaw works over Dogg in the ring with a snap suplex for a near fall. Bradshaw continues to weaken Dogg with a swinging neckbreaker. Bradshaw puts Dogg in a Torture Rack but Dogg gets out of it only to run into a big boot!Dogg ducks under a clothesline to plant Bradshaw with a DDT. Bradshaw doesn't stay down long and tries for a powerbomb but can't get Dogg over. Dogg dropkicks Bradshaw to the floor but Bradshaw quickly returns to spear Dogg down to the canvas. Dogg drops Bradshaw with a leaping forearm but can't get a three count. Bradshaw avoids a splash and hits the Clothesline from Hell! Tori distracts Bradshaw and Dogg nearly wins with a roll up. Dogg hits a pump handle slam and wins the match! (**1/2. A decent match here as they kept the match going rather fast for both men and they were able to hold my interest. Dogg seems to put on quality matches while in the UK.)

Fourth Contest: Terri Runnels vs. The Kat in an Arm Wrestling Match: All you need to know about this one is that Terri spits water into Kat's face, but still loses when Mae Young dumps water over her. After the contest, Terri exposes Kat's breasts much to the delight of the fans and Jerry Lawler.

Fifth Contest: Big Show & Rikishi vs. the Dudley Boyz: Oh brother, Big Show is dressed up in Rikishi's gear. D-Von attacks Show before the bell and they start the match legally. Show big boots D-Von after absorbing a few right hands. Show clotheslines D-Von in the corner and tags in Rikishi. Bubba tags in but Rikishi hammers away on him quickly. Bubba runs into a Samoan Drop from Rikishi, though. The Dudley's are rammed into each other but they double team Rikishi quickly to get the advantage. Bubba and Rikishi go to the floor where Bubba grabs a table. Show is clotheslined by Bubba from off the middle rope. Edge and Christian have come out and Edge spears Bubba! Show chokeslams Bubba to win the match. (*1/2. Not a good match. These guys didn't click very well and it just dragged along it seemed like.) After the match, Too Cool comes out and they dance with the Dudley Boys.

A video of Kurt Angle visiting England is shown. We hear from Chris Benoit who is sporting a black eye thanks to Chris Jericho. He says that Jericho will suffer payback and Angle will find out what he is all about.

Sixth Contest: Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle: Benoit's eye is pretty bad looking, actually. Prior to the match Crash Holly comes out to be on commentary and wants a fight tonight. Benoit chops Angle to start the match and gets a near fall with a forearm shot. Benoit is dropped throat first across the top by Angle. Angle hammers away on Benoit outside the ring. Angle is focusing on Angle's injured eye, which shows his true intelligence. Angle sends Benoit face first into the ring post. Benoit battles back with right hands but Angle hits an overhead belly to belly suplex. Angle hits a snap suplex for a near fall. Angle clotheslines Benoit for yet another near fall. Angle sends Benoit chest first into the corner but Benoit returns the favor. Benoit follows up with a series of German suplexs but can't get a three count. Benoit locks in the Crippler Crossface but Angle gets out with an eye poke. Benoit hits a back suplex and heads to the top rope. Angle avoids a diving headbutt! Angle hits the Angle Slam and wins the match after ducking wild strikes by a blinded Benoit. (**3/4. They are obviously capable of doing a lot more and better stuff. But, they didn't get much time and they were more interested in telling the story involving Benoit's injured eye. A solid match nonetheless.)

Backstage, Shane McMahon believes his father is favoring him and will win the WWF World Championship.

Seventh Contest: WWF Hardcore Champion Crash Holly vs. the British Bulldog: Bulldog runs out to attack Crash Holly and they are having a title match right now! Bulldog suplexs Crash on the ramp way. Holly sends Bulldog into the ring steps and goes under the ring to get a trash can, kendo sticks and a strap. Crash chokes Bulldog with the strap and hits Bulldog in the midsection with the kendo stick. Crash sets a chair up in the ring but Bulldog drop toe holds Holly into the chair face first. Bulldog hits Crash with the chair as well and uses the kendo stick. Bulldog hits the running powerslam to win the match and title. (*. Nothing good about this one, really. It's good to see Bulldog getting cheers in England again since the last time he was playing the heel role.)

Earlier in the day, Edge and Christian were charging fans for autographs and photos.

Eighth Contest: WWF World Tag Team Champions Edge & Christian vs. the Hardy Boyz: Matt and Christian start the bout. Christian hits a dropkick early on and locks in an arm lock. Matt scoop slams Christian and hammers away on Christian in the corner. Jeff is tagged in and the fans make some noise as they double team Christian. Edge gets the tag to hit a swinging neck breaker to get the early advantage. Jeff sends Edge to the floor with a head scissors out of the corner. Jeff dropkicks Christian and clotheslines Edge to the floor. Christian is slammed face first into the mat but Edge pulls Matt outside of the ring. Jeff hits a somersault dive on Edge! Twist of Fate and the Swanton Bomb on Christian! Edge enters with the ring bell and hits the challengers to cause the disqualification! (**1/2. An alright match, but once again they are capable of a lot better. This wasn't their A quality stuff.) After the match, the Dudley Boys enter and hit the 3D on Christian! Bubba powerbombs Edge through the table from off the middle rope.

Ninth Contest: WWF European Champion Eddie Guerrero vs. WWF Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho: The WWF European Championship is on the line thanks to a coin toss. Guerrero attacks before the bell but Jericho comes back with right hands of his own. Jericho catapults Eddie and clotheslines Guerrero over the top to the floor. Guerrero isn't interested in fighting but Chyna forces him to back back to the ring. Jericho cuts him off on the floor and they go back at it in the ring. Eddie hits a snap powerslam for a two count. Jericho drops Eddie face first over the top rope. Jericho hits a vertical suplex and goes for his cocky pin, which doesn't work. Jericho barely hits a spinning heel kick but Guerrero avoids a baseball slide. Chyna clotheslines Jericho on the floor to help her boyfriend out. Jericho stops Eddie on the top rope and connects with a superplex. Guerrero avoids Jericho in the corner and sets Jericho up to hit a top rope hurricanrana for a near fall. They begin to trade roll ups until Guerrero clotheslines Jericho. Jericho slams Guerrero down to the canvas gut first. Guerrero counters a powerbomb with a roll up for a near fall. Chyna enters the ring to plant Jericho with a DDT while the referee was distracted. Guerrero rolls back in but Jericho kicks out at two. Jericho powerbombs Guerrero twice and hits a springboard moonsault but Chyna gets on the apron. Jericho dropkicks Chyna off the apron. Guerrero hits Jericho with the championship and wins the match. (**3/4. A decent match here but it seemed to be lacking consistent entertainment. That seems to be a trend with this show.)

Backstage, Triple H and Shane McMahon are arguing over who will be the WWF World Champion. We also hear from the Rock. Rock talks about how Shane and HHH don't trust each other. Rock thinks tonight is the night where he will overcome the odds and keep the WWF World Championship.

Shane tried to get involved but Rock took care of him too. Shane and HHH work over Rock with right hands but Rock battles back with more right hands. HHH is knocked to the floor and Rock sends Shane to the floor as well. On the floor, Rock clotheslines HHH and puts Lawler's crown on Shane before punching him too. HHH drops Rock throat first across the guard railing. Rock is being double teamed on the floor. HHH hits a neckbreaker on the champ to get the advantage. Shane begins to jab Rock several times and HHH gets in on the act as well. Rock clotheslines Shane and HHH runs into a clothesline as well. Rock delivers a double biotic elbow but HHH stops Rock with a face buster and gets a two count after Shane hit a clothesline. Vince chokes Rock over the bottom rope thanks to the referee being distracted. Shane hits a middle rope forearm drop after HHH hit a suplex on Rock. Rock gets out of a sleeper hold after several moments and actually puts a sleeper on Shane while HHH still had his locked in. HHH is punched to the floor and Rock plants Shane with a spine buster. Rock hits the People's Elbow for the win. (***. A good match that picked up towards the end. Most of the match was just Rock being worked over briefly and making a comeback over and over again. It was rather predictable, but still entertaining thanks to the men involved.)

The 411: There is nothing on here that is overly great or that needs to be seen. However, there are some entertaining matches on this UK exclusive pay per view. It's not a complete waste of time by any means, so if you ever have a time to kill a couple of hours this should be able to help fill that time. But, don't go out of your way to watch it.

Final Score:  6.0   [ Average ]  legend
