Fake Kane is on this show, but it's the Spirit Squad who are in a figurative "buried alive" match.
Have you ever watched a professional wrestling match that was so bad that you wished you were no longer alive? I'm willing to watch each and every match that has given you that feeling. Let me know what the worst matches you've ever seen were in the comments section, and I'll review them in my series, "I'd Rather Be Dead Than Watch ________"
WWE Vengeance 2006
Live from Charlotte Bobcat's Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina
June 25, 2006
The opening video highlights John Cena's recent outbursts toward ECW, which has led to him challenging Sabu to an Extreme Lumberjacks Match. We also see footage of Edge's attacks of Rob Van Dam. Lastly, we are shown the D-Generation X reunion, filled with mooning midgets, green slime, and angry Vince McMahon. This should certainly be an interesting event.

Kurt Angle gets a double leg takedown, and then rides the back of Randy Orton before strapping in a hammerlock. Angle rolls the hold into a cover for two. Orton gains a bit of redemption at 12:39.
Winner: Randy Orton These guys weren't going at full-speed, and the crowd here wasn't as hot as the audience at One Night Stand, but they worked with the circumstances at hand. They did a great job of kicking off the show, warming up the crowd without doing too much. This was a good, if formulaic, opening contest. 1 for 1.
Backstage, Vince McMahon talks on the phone with someone, and says Vengeance will be his. He says the Spirit Squad is ready, but then freezes when someone comes in. It's a kid in a wheel chair who is wearing a D-X shirt. Vince says D-X has been taking him on a ride, so he's going to take this kid on a ride. Vince calls this "the ride on the highway to hell." He then presumably shoves the child down stairs or into a heavy metal object. Jonathan Coachman enters the scene. The Coach found a Penis Pump outside of Vince's door. Vince said the joke was just on D-X. Coach says he invited a family friend to the show tonight. Coach says that the kid is in a wheel chair, and that he will tell Vince when he gets there. Vince seems nervous, but says that's fine. GET IT?! IT'S THE KID THAT WAS JUST IN VINCE'S OFFICE!
Umaga w/ Armando Alejandro Estrada vs. Eugene w/ "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Doink the Clown, and Kamala
Hacksaw gets "U-S-A!" chants started at the bell. Eugene tries to pound on Umaga, but he gets leveled with a clothesline. Eugene fires away with punches, but he then eats a right from Umaga. Eugene crawls to the corner, and Umaga levels him with a hip attack! SAMOAN SPIKE by Umaga! That does it at 1:37.
Winner: Umaga This existed. I'm a huge Umaga fan, but this wasn't his best squash. The match was kind of there, and the crowd was more into the legends on the floor than the action transpiring in the ring. 1 for 2.
After the match, Umaga takes out Duggan and Doink with the Samoan Spike. Umaga and Kamala square off, but Armando puts a stop to it, and takes Umaga to the back.
Backstage, Todd Grisham is with Mick Foley. Despite being a heel, Foley gets a cheap pop. Foley reads an excerpt from Flair's book, where Flair calls him a glorified stuntman. Foley claims he will out-wrestle Flair.
Two out of Three Falls: Mick Foley vs. Ric Flair

Foley charges for the Mandible Claw, but Flair gets the Testicular Claw! Flair fires off chopes. Flair heads up top, and FLAIR ACTUALLY HITS THE DOUBLE AXE HANDLE OFF THE TOP! However, he hurts his knee in doing so. Foley chop blocks Flair, and then wrenches the knee over the bottom rope. Foley drops an elbow on Flair's knee. Foley goes for the Figure Four, but Flair gets a small package! ONE, TWO, THREE! Flair wins the first fall at 4:13!
Foley charges to start the second fall, but Flair gets another small package! ONE, TWO, THRE-NO! Foley then pounds away on Flair and throws him to the floor. Foley lands some punches on the outside, but Flair reverses an Irish whip and sends Foley knees first into the steel steps! Flair takes the action back inside and knocks Foley back out of the ring. Foley goes into the crowd, but Flair chases after him. Foley turns around and fights off Flair. Flair charges, but Foley back body drops him over the barricade and down onto the padding! Foley rolls Flair inside, and brings a garbage can into the ring. Foley goes to use the garbage can, but Flair trips him up. FIGURE FOUR! Foley hits Flair with the can to break the hold! Foley is disqualified, and Flair wins 2-0 at 7:00.
Winner: Ric Flair These two were both still capable of putting on good matches at this point in their careers. However, this wasn't one of them. They had a pretty cramped time space, and it didn't seem like they got to work the crowd the way they would've liked to. 1 for 3.
After the match, Foley nails Flair with the can again. Mick then goes out to the floor and brings in a barbed wire bat. FOLEY NAILS FLAIR WITH THE BAT! Foley continues the assault, grating the bat across Flair's face, and then dropping it with an Elbow. Foley holds the belt up while medical personnel come out to attend to Flair, who is a bloody mess. The crowd chants, "Foley sucks!" A number of people in the crowd seem genuinely concerned by the large amount of blood. While I recommended skipping the match, definitely check out the angle that followed it.
A commercial airs to hype the Wrestlemania 22 DVD.
Backstage, Maria is joined by Carlito. Maria asks if Carlito he spits in the face of people who don't want to be cool. Carlito confirms that fact. She then says that the people who don't want to be cool are the coolest, which creates a paradox. Carlito says she doesn't know what she just said, but that nothing will be cooler than Carlito winning the Intercontinental title. Torrie Wilson comes up and says she is doing a photo shoot and needs Maria to rub oil over her body. She tells Carlito to hold her puppies for three seconds. She then hands him two dogs while Maria oils up Torrie. Carlito says this is cool. However, his music hits. Carlito says he doesn't want to leave this and go to the ring.

Winner: Johnny Nitro This match was entertaining from bell-to-bell. Carlito really shined here, and the finish was great because it made Nitro look like a complete asshole for stealing his victory. 2 for 4.
Backstage, the Spirit Squad pump themselves up and talk about destroying DX. Vince comes in, and says that DX is a social disease. He tells them that they are the cure for the disease. The squad leaves. Vince then picks up his penis pump, and takes it into the bathroom with him, despite a camera filming him the whole time. An explosion noise takes place in the bathroom. Vince comes with green stuff on his face. "THAT DAMN DX!" I really wasn't a fan of the DX reunion, and segments like this are why.
A video package hypes the Edge/RVD title match.
WWE Championship Match: Rob Van Dam (c) vs. Edge w/ Lita
Both men lock up, and Edge takes RVD down to the mat with a waistlock. The two engage again, and Edge shoves RVD into the corner, where he punches RVD in the gut to take the advantage. Winner: Rob Van Dam These two guys looked like the truly cared about winning the WWE Championship. Both men did a lot of spots that they don't normally do, and it made them seem desperate to get the victory. Kane goes up top, but IK catches him coming off with a goozle. IK with a chokeslm! ONE, TWO, THREE! The crowd goes mild at 7:07.
Winner: Imposter Kane To be frank, this match was boring. Things plotted along, and the crowd could not have cared less about Imposter Kane. When Imposter Kane won, you could practically hear the air conditioning filter through the arena it was so quite. This experiment was a failure. 3 for 6.

D-X does it at 17:50.
Winners: D-Generation X This isn't exactly ideal for a pay-per-view main-event. While there were some intense moments, it was more of a comedy match more than anything else. Even after HBK was laid out with a chair, it still felt like there was no way the Spirit Squad would win. That said, this was an enjoyable match. It would've been more enjoyable as a Raw main-event rather than a pay-per-view main-event, but it's still worth watching. 5 for 8.
After the match, Triple H and Michaels celebrate. Another Spirit Squad member runs it, but Michaels drops him with Sweet Chin Music. Nicky eats Sweet Chin Music, and Johnny takes a Pedigree. Triple H whispers something to Michaels. D-X single out Mitch and toss everyone else out of the ring. Triple H drops his trunks, and HBK shoves Mitch's face into his ass. Yup. Vince McMahon comes out to the top of the ramp and looks on. Vince tells D-X congratulations, and that he will see them tomorrow night.
The 411: The 411: This is a tough show to rate. After the WWE title match, which was undoubtedly the highlight of this event, things seemed to trail off a bit. Ending the pay-per-view with what was essentially a comedy squash match left a lot to be desired. Nothing here is going to completely blow your mind, but most of it is worth watching. I'll give this a mild recommendation.
