and we get the same match over again....wow, i wonder what they have in store this time, fade to black, kill the lights in the arena?

I like it, I dont remember when a simple cage match main evented a PPV, I think it will be fun, maybe the ref gets knocked out for some good ol' attitude era crowd brawlin, lol.

once upon a time, 3H and Batista carried 3 consecutive ppvs without the title changing hands. However, they were really trying to build up Dave. They have shoved RKO down our throats for tooooooo long. He sucks, he's lame, and seriously, my daughter could kick his ass. So we get to see Orton Main Event how many PPV's now? Here's the real problem with RAW, there are no good heels. Orton is the only heel and the only reason he is a believeable heel is because the fans know he sucks! Once again, we put the strap on the son-in-law because only he can carry the brand when its in turmoil while the daughter/wife tries to figure out how to get some other talent over. Here's a crazy thought, quit having the champ work his ass off every week (that's why there is Intercontinental Gold and US Title gold), rather let the contenders develop their stories and deserve a challenge. This is why Flair ruled the 80s. You had to earn your shot at him, and then you got in the ring with him, got beat, but he put you over big time. And isn't the holder of the secondary gold supposed to be the #1 contender for the major gold? So why didn't MVP get a push for the World Heavyweight Championship? They were working that angle with Jeff, but damn that wellness policy...Do we have a legitimate tag team btw? Gone are the days of LOD, The Rock-N-Roll Express, The Midnight Express, and every other tag team that ruled. Now we get Cade and Murdoch, Carlito and Santino, or Bob Holly and Cody Rhoads. Geeeez, give me MNM back please.

Seriously...I'm as big a fan of Hunter as I ever was of anyone in the classic age of wrestling, but WWE Creative has no idea how to make several seperate story lines intertwine into a big picture. Please put DX back together. At least we all know that works, anytime, anywhere!

houseofpain, that is a great comment, the us/intercontinental titles mean nothing nowadays, in the past it did mean that you were #1 contender for the big strap and i also want to see new faces in the title hunt

I know the sopranos cast will be ring side

Orton will come out to Don't stop beliving........

so? Are Regal and Kennedy getting on the PPV?!?!

Stop hating on Orton! Jealous psycho biatches!

The people who come on the internet to whine and bitch and moan are what's wrong with wrestling today, not the product.

Posted By: MDK (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 03:02 AM

houseofpain makes a good point. there's no reason for the champion to be out there fighting every week. story lines used to be able to last a quarter-year because there were only four pay-per views back in the day. now they shove lame shite down our throats and expect people to pay to see it. does anyone really expect HHH to drop the belt? if he did it would be idiotic. perhaps they'll come up with something on the other brand to make a better ME but I doubt it... will we get Under/Edge again as well?!?!? bs.

Seriously????? do we actually get a PPV without Marky Mark getting a title shot for the billionth month in a row (whie he was hurt doesn't count) everyone should buy this PPV just to prove that PPVs will sell without that nonwrestling Vince McMahon cock eating talentless punt in the main event

Posted By: Matt (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 03:20 AM

I will be in there for the event in person... so should be pretty cool

Posted By: Dano (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 03:48 AM

Boy we got some crybabies here

Didn't the winner of the Kinf of the Ring used to be entered #30 in the Royal Rumble? Then the winner of the Royal Rumble gets the title shot at wrestlemania?

When does that happen anymore?

Posted By: Cj (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 06:17 AM

Did WWF/E ever specifically state that the secondary champ was #1 contender? I don't remember it. I think you're a PWI reader, and they always rank it that way, but it's only played out that way a few times in the last 20+ years.

Posted By: Rob (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 07:27 AM

thank god for a special lil site where I can get the ppvs within 12 hours of going off the air....another one I'm not paying for

Posted By: gblock (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 07:38 AM

I'm looking forward to this. HHH can build drama and when blood is involved orton sells pretty well.

Of couse i could just bitch and moan because wrestling was better in the 80's or that HHH is screwing the bosses daughter and we should be pushing danielson for the title.

As for the zero buys comment, the same amount of people will buy this show that usually buy this type of show (non big 4 ppv). Besides people saying they wont buy the show probably dont even pay for the PPV's, and just bit-torrent that shit.

Cena's belt should have been replace by now if he's not going to be in the title hunt. That belt didn't look right on HHH when he came out with it on last night's RAW. I guess WWE still want to sell more toy belts or they spend way too much on Cena's belt to let it fade away.

Posted By: ghostly (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 08:21 AM

I'm already bored of HHH's reign. Alteast Orton was a change.

Don't like it then don't watch it.

Posted By: Guest#5473 (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 08:45 AM

A normal cage match just doesn't have any interest value to it with stuff like elimination chamber and HITC. I guess the positive is, being a no holds barred match, we might not have to endure Orton chinlocks. If its anything like their LMS match it should be fun to watch, otherwise just another match between two tops guys that is "solid" but unexciting and SOS.

Posted By: Unknown1 (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 08:56 AM

How about after this "rematch clause rematch" we shuffle Orton to the side and start pushing another heel, oh, I dunno...maybe MR. KENNEDY

KENNEDY???

I'm sick of Orton. Orton + Cena need to stay out of the title hunt for awhile; both of them have been in the title picture for several years now - it's time for their break.

what worries me is that creepy banner of Nitro making bar bq hamburgers

"And isn't the holder of the secondary gold
supposed to be the #1 contender for the major gold? So why didn't MVP get a
push for the World Heavyweight Championship?"

No. As far as I know, that was never the case in the WWF/WWE. That was a WCW thing. If you ask me, though, I personally always felt that was one of the stupidest things ever. How does that make any sense? It makes the lesser title look like crap because people would only be trying to win it in hopes of getting their World title shot. People should want to win the lesser titles because they are prestigious too, not just because they are a useless prop that earns them a title shot.

Also, the lesser titles should be used to build up guys who are doing well, but not quite ready for the main event. With the holder of secondary title getting a world title shot, how does it do that? That just makes them get thrown into the main event before they are ready, or makes main eventers all busy going after the lesser title when it should be going to the upper midcarders.

WCW didn't always exercise that little clause, but they did say that from time to time, and I just personally always thought it was really stupid. The secondary titles should be considered completely separate championships. Simply winning them shouldn't guarantee you a shot at the big time, but it should be viewed as another stepping stone the way the Intercontinental title was back in the days of Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Mr. Perfect, Macho Man, etc.

CJ, name *one* time the King of the Ring winner got number 30 in the Rumble

Posted By: Guest#8475 (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 09:38 AM

No, the King of the Ring was traditionally held in June , with the winner getting a title shot at Summerslam, but that didn't even last that long (See Own Hart and Mabel, who didn't get their title shot at Summerslam. At least Owen got one, Mabel was just King Mabel for a while)

I'm not even certain I would be interested in seeing a World title match with Regal in it, he's not doing too bad as a heel, but I could never picture him as a main eventer. At least not a recurring one, maybe a one or two time main eventer like Hardcore Holly was a year or so ago.

And as far as the Steel Cage Match goes.....yawn, let's put the strap on someone who puts on a show like HBK, HBK vs. Flair was by far the best match at WMXXIV. Or at least give someone else a push that has proven themselves. Jeff Hardy sit down, one more strike and you're out anyway.

thank god cena is not in the title picture for now..its the first thing that wwe has done great for the last 3-4 years..plus i think hhh deserved the title..son in law or not..if hhh wasnt that damn good..everyone knows he wudnt be a 12 time champ..just look at the guy..total package..ace in the pocket for wwe..orton is amazing..this is the first good main event of the year..

Posted By: sid (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 10:10 AM

So, so much bitching. If you don't like WWE, don't watch it! Choke on that slapnuts.

Posted By: Guest#3349 (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 11:08 AM

this is actually pretty cool, were headed back to the eighties and steel cages are main eventing. it might not bring many buys, but it'll make for a good main event, I PROMISE.

Posted By: K.O.W. (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 11:12 AM

"(See
Own Hart and Mabel, who didn't get their title shot at Summerslam. At least
Owen got one, Mabel was just King Mabel for a while)"

Owen got his shot at SummerSlam 1994 against Bret in the cage, and Mabel got his shot at SummerSlam 1995 against Diesel in the main event.

Done...with....WWE

BORING. You'd have to just about pay me to spend the time to watch this on Raw let along on PPV.

Posted By: drofstyle (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 11:43 AM

wow just wow. All the comments here are from TROLLS or TNA Marks trying to bitch about ANY small thing the WWE does. Randy Orton and HHH have only faced off against each other ONCE before and that was at No Mercy (or Unforgiven 2004 if you want to go back that far) Then they announce a Steel Cage match for Judgment Day and you all bitch? Zero Buys? Done With WWE? Why the fuck do you even watch this shit if you are just going to complain about it. One match is announced, a STEEL CAGE MATCH and you bitch. Also how do you know this match will be the Main Event?

Posted By: natedoggcata (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 12:16 PM

With seen so many Steel Cage matches for free on TV that I don't think this gimmick match is going to garner that much interest.

Posted By: Guest#2332 (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 12:48 PM

I think Triple will lose the title soon. I think the reason he won was to maybe punish Ortin for the incident at that hotel where he was throwing food. I believe Triple H will lose the title back to Ortin, but I don't necessarily expect it to be a clean win. Triple H just wants to say he was a multiple-time Champ.

Posted By: Chico (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 12:54 PM

WOW,i guess nothing makes any of you people happy.Had Cena won the belt at backlash, you all would be upset.Had Orton retained you all would be upset, triple H wins and yall get upset, what if JBL won? would yall be upset?...i like that main event. The elimination chamber and Hell in a Cell should only be used every so often.Maybe once or twice a year so that the importance of those two type of matches, does not diminish. And Orton is a good wrestler.Your never going to get the perfecr 'wrestler' anymore.

Posted By: ratedrko (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 01:10 PM

All you crybaby complainers are ruining things for the rest of us. Why don't you all just sit back and watch instead of criticizing every little thing. Or go watch TNA if you like them more.

Posted By: William (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 01:28 PM

Remember when JBL lost the WWE Championship to Cena, JBL got a rematch at Judgment Day, so complaining about Orton getting a title shot here makes no sense. It's what WWE does.

Posted By: William (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 01:31 PM

Wow!Steel Cage?No need for me to buy this PPV then.

So many douches...

Get over yourselves already.

Wah wah wah, HHH this, Orton that, hell even Cena gets bitched on and he has nothing to do with it!

You are all so incredibly predictable at leat think of something new to incorporate into your emo-esque whinings. Or, preferably, die.

I WASN'T THE ONE WHO ASKED THE QUESTION ABOUT THE ROYAL RUMBLE, Now in wcw, when someone won the u.s belt they didn't autimatically go str8 to the world title hunt. They would at least build them up before they got a shot, and for the record people complain because they're tired of seeing the same people in the title hunt. Let's see the hardys, cm punk, or kennedy"and don't say they're not ready because kennedy got a HUGE pop from the crowd on raw. Cm punk is on the edge and their are more to be named

Just for all yuo Orton bashers on here Meltzer had a pol on his site on the HHH title win and guess which won between these choices?1.Cena and Orton had their runs so it was a good choice.2.HHH should get it as its his turn.3.No,should've stayed w/Orton.4.Should've gone bacl to Cena who is a bigger draw.5.Should've gone to someone else. Why it was #3 w/ 31.8 %.And $5 for Cena was last w/ 9.8%.RKO rules you haters suck.

get rid of the spinner and give trip the old million dollar belt!

Posted By: hhh spinner (Guest)  on April 29, 2008 at 06:12 PM

Gee on one hand randy is the former champion and Triple H never had to face Randy One on one since dropping the belt in October.

On the other hand we've got Snitsky Umaga, Y2J, Carlito, Charlie Haas, Super Crazy, and Val Venis lying around. Surely one of them might be able to wrestle on a Filler PPV.

I thought Midcarders purpose in wrestling was for the Headliners to dominate them so big name matches didn't happen all the time.

Yay!

And Cena can now go back to playing with his marine in his basement. Good riddance, tosser!
